DSP manager eq issue - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I've tried several roms recently, including latest cm10.1 and all roms have this issue with dsp manager...
when you select eq and try to manually change gain of each frequency you can only change 62Hz and 16kHz ones...i've tried flashing a few different dsp manager versions(some weren't working at all and some gave me bootloops) and all of them had this eq problem...i'm curently on rootbox nightly 30.5. with ak skl 256 kernel, can somebody help me to find a solution for this...

Use Awesome beats or the more advanced Viper instead, DSP is quite old anyway

thanks for the reply, but awesome beats doesn't work for me(it causes bootloops) and i really like DSP because it's simple and does the job...

Quite a strange issue, I never had any with DSP. Try installing it manually rather than flashing or try a different headset first.

CM9 DSPManager not working

Hey all as the title suggests I'm on cm9 7/9 nightly. I've been playing with DSPManager for a while now (on other builds as well) and have yet to come up with any positive results. None of the settings in DSPManager have any effect at all. Is there some sort of prerequisite to using it? Any help at all is appreciated.

You aren't alone, because I too can't get DSP Manager to work. However, I can't get ANY apps that adjust the DSP settings to work on CM9. I personally have used AudioFX for quite some time on Gingerbread on my Galaxy S II LTE (called the Skyrocket on AT&T) and it worked fine on the OFFICIAL release of ICS from Rogers. However, it doesn't work on CM9. So the problem doesn't appear to be DSP Manager itself, but rather something in CM9.

How about the lack of kernel support at this time More than one thread on this, I read on yesterday. Though last time anyone really wasted their breath on the issue was around Alpha 3.

Figured it had something to do with cm9. The kernel not being supported makes sense. Should be rectified in the next couple days.

Tried it. Doesn't activate dsp manager. And what it does do I can replicate better with PowerAMP. And it doesn't affect in-call volume at all, which is what I was going for.
I just got volume+ from the developers website (full version for free) and it mostly works. There's a few ics bugs that they have to work out, but it does bump up the volume so I'm happy.

Has anyone else CONFIRMED that 3rd-party DSP apps (I gave the example of AudioFX, but you can try others) don't work on CM9 on the Skyrocket? So far I've not heard from anyone else providing collaboration of my observations. If you have an i727 or i727r running CM9 (or any other phone for that matter, seeing as this isn't even a Skyrocket thread), could you please install a 3rd-party DSP app and let me know if it works on your phone. Thanks in advance.

As said in my previous post, volume+ works mostly on cm9. It has a few glitches here and there, but it does increase the volume. I haven't had a chance to fully test it so I don't know what all is or isn't working.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
I believe the volume increase provided by Volume+ has nothing to do with the DSP chip. You need to test this on equalization, bass boost, etc. These are features provided by that chip.

Tested. EQ and volume control work for the speaker. Bass boost and echo/delay don't have any effect. Nothing works for bluetooth or headset. Oh, you can also change how many steps in the in-call volume. No volume boost though. For all this it would be better and easier just to use Poweramp. It works better.
The problem is I need equalization for all of my audio applications. This means that I need an equalizer that works generically rather than one that is built into a specific app. Virtually all of my music is played from Slacker Radio or TuneIn Radio, neither of which have built-in equalization.

Found a DSP fix for Motorola ATRIX 4G...
I play music via Bluetooth into car audio system and loved DSP in CM7.....I replaced joersaxx 1.3 faux kernel to stock 1.0....I found this link
and it worked like a charm!!! The first thing I noticed was it worked like in CM7 when the first menu was selection of output rather than straight to menu....I am going to try flashing a 1.3 kernel to see if it still works....
Thank you Yasir Idrees! I tried to post link....but I'm a noob!!! Go in to setting in /system/apps and set as per thumbnail.

Volume solutions on JB?

HI
Is there any volume solution on JB? as Volume+ doesn't work.. this is really annoying, the volume is simply unhearable!

I've been using DSP manager. Its for ICS but works on JB 4.1.1. Flashable cwm zip make a backup before flashing!

One quick note: I ran into problems with DSP Manager because I was undervolting my phone. When the screen went off, the phone's CPU was restricted too much and any media would have a slight stutter to it. Anyway, not a problem if you're not undervolting, just a word of advice.
Ok thanks everyone
Backing up now, and will flash DSP in a couple of minutes. will report back
Volume+ is working for me.....

So I flashed DSP, it installed, but not working at all, does not affect the volume in any way, I checked the DSP under sounds..
How does Volume+ work for you?? are you ob JB? does it work on all volume levels such as ringtones, notifications etc.. ??

That's odd.. it only works for music on my GN. ringtones, notifications etc' stay very weak, and it's not only me, the reviews on the volume+ google play page are bombarded by JB users who lost the functionality of volume+.. sucks..
I never used volume +...but most kernels have high performance sound and maximum sound tweaks that I use and love. I know Franco and trinity have them.

Um...Just curious, couldn't you just boot into CWM then flash only the kernal without root? Never tried it, but I'm wondering... If you do that, only thing you need to do to go to stock is flash kernal back to stock...
Did u go to settings>sound>music effects ? Enable DSP manager or volume + from there

Volume plus, DSP manager and nexus louderv3 beta3

I am currently running codnameandroid its an amazing 4.1 ROM however I do have an issue with the volume on this phone when it comes to speaker and headphones. I tried volume plus a week ago for the fist time and wow did it make my speakers vibrate. After some more ROM flashing i decieded to flash nexuslouderv3 and it worked. I got sorta greedy and used that with volume plus and the sound went back to stock. I tried flashing with one of them being used and vice versa but no luck. I even formatted my system and data but no luck. Anyone have suggestions?

Trinity has the same thing too. The volume boost is only for headphones anyway.
Are you saying louderv3 working but then stop functioning after trying to use volume+? If so disable volume + and make sure your musical effects (in settings>sound) is not set to volume+.

PowerAmp, A2DP & custom roms no sound issue...

I've noticed many people in this forum running custom roms having this issue (myself included).
If ur having problems getting sound over Bluetooth (A2DP) with PowerAmp, try the following...
In PowerAmp, go into Settings and click on Audio, then Advanced Tweaks, and uncheck Direct Volume Control.
Voila! Sound. Thank me if it works for u! =)

I've notice similar problems but for me it's like all of the bass is turned way down and the volume is very low. I don't thing power amp is the problem as it happens for Pandora as well. I have a feeling it the new bluetooth drivers the is screwing everything up.

What kernel ru using?
...sent using Tapatalk on my Galaxy SIII...
I tried using a KToonsez kernel, and it produced the static over Bluetooth that u were referring to. Haven't had a chance to try it without again. I will try it tonight and post results.
Edit...after switching away from KToonsez kernel, static went away. It most likely stems from his modified Bluetooth Drivers. Hope this helps.
...sent using Tapatalk on my Galaxy SIII...
It's a issue with changes made to the audio_policy.conf file. There is no A2DP reference compared to easier versions of whatever rom you are on. Look at late Oct or earlier Nov roms and you should see the difference.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
I don't think that makes sense with what I've experienced. If what ur saying was true, the static would have remained after switching back to stock kernel and drivers, yes? I haven't changed roms.

[Q] My dsp manager won't work

My dsp manager just makes everything sound worse and distorted. The only rom that doesn't do that is hyperdrive for me. Every other rom just makes it worse. It not my headphones either as I have beats. Any ideas on why this is happening?

Oh okay. I wasn't aware of that. But thanks!
You could try using another sound mod. You could try awesome beats, ac!d, viper, etc.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
awesome beats wont work. it either wont make any effects or distort it. and acid works only for the enhancements that it makes on its own. if i do anything else it will have the same effect.
I have one that works, I know because I tried about 20 of them and this one works with everything I tested, its only glitchy with play music.. The thing is I don't remember what thread I got it from so I don't know if I'm allowed to just post a link to it
