I've noticed many people in this forum running custom roms having this issue (myself included).
If ur having problems getting sound over Bluetooth (A2DP) with PowerAmp, try the following...
In PowerAmp, go into Settings and click on Audio, then Advanced Tweaks, and uncheck Direct Volume Control.
Voila! Sound. Thank me if it works for u! =)

Thanks!! never had a issue with any sounds until my most recent rom flash. everything worked besides bluetooth audio from poweramp. with that unchecked it is now working again thanks!

I've never had that problem. Sounds like a good subject for an e-mail to the dev of PowerAmp.

I've notice similar problems but for me it's like all of the bass is turned way down and the volume is very low. I don't thing power amp is the problem as it happens for Pandora as well. I have a feeling it the new bluetooth drivers the is screwing everything up.

What kernel ru using?
...sent using Tapatalk on my Galaxy SIII...
I tried using a KToonsez kernel, and it produced the static over Bluetooth that u were referring to. Haven't had a chance to try it without again. I will try it tonight and post results.
Edit...after switching away from KToonsez kernel, static went away. It most likely stems from his modified Bluetooth Drivers. Hope this helps.
...sent using Tapatalk on my Galaxy SIII...
It's a issue with changes made to the audio_policy.conf file. There is no A2DP reference compared to easier versions of whatever rom you are on. Look at late Oct or earlier Nov roms and you should see the difference.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
I don't think that makes sense with what I've experienced. If what ur saying was true, the static would have remained after switching back to stock kernel and drivers, yes? I haven't changed roms.

Looking for some help, i want to experiment a little to fix an issue i have. I regularly run juggernaut because i have a bluetooth capable stereo in my car with A2DP support which works great. The problem is i want to try some other roms im running paradox and love it however there is a feature that works in juggernaut but none of the other roms. With juggernaut i can press the buttons on my stereo to change songs but on other roms it doesnt work i have to use the phone. Can someone point me to any apks or files to try extracting to make it work the same?

Waiting an hour isn't always gonna yield answers, seems this would be a dev specific question. So, I would PM Whitehawkx for a foolproof answer, good luck & let us know how it goes !
May try that i assume devs are busy n wouldnt bother with a question lol i was just hoping someone knew. Might try to move all the bluetooth apks n see if that works.

I use player pro with my sony xav-62bt and everything but the display works. I can use the gestures to control my phone and all. Only thing is that it does not display my artist or track info on my screen of my headunit. Stock samsung player shows info on my screen but i cant control my phone through headunit. Weird.

I got it figured out actually stock player works just fine now with it running a pioneer avh 2300dvd with the cd btb200 bluetooth module, calls and audio are great. With the paradox rom the bass is crazy on my system which is what i wanted to get to work because i loved the sound but not that i couldnt flip through songs. Just bought poweramp due to the 1.99 sale so ima see if that works with the bluetooth as well. Doesnt seem like many people use a2dp in there car i thought id get answers but its totally worth every penny i paid for it. Its the only reason i thought the iphone was great because of its stereo compatibility but now this is on point. 1800 watts of streaming greatness is coming out my galaxy now .

Wait so, with Paradox ROM, more than just the stock music player shows track data on a2dp headunits? On Juggernaut I can only get the stock music player to do this, but controls work fine with it.
I think the track info is dependant on the headunit it requires different profile other then A2DP. I cant remember what ite called AVCRP or something like that.

Hey all as the title suggests I'm on cm9 7/9 nightly. I've been playing with DSPManager for a while now (on other builds as well) and have yet to come up with any positive results. None of the settings in DSPManager have any effect at all. Is there some sort of prerequisite to using it? Any help at all is appreciated.

You aren't alone, because I too can't get DSP Manager to work. However, I can't get ANY apps that adjust the DSP settings to work on CM9. I personally have used AudioFX for quite some time on Gingerbread on my Galaxy S II LTE (called the Skyrocket on AT&T) and it worked fine on the OFFICIAL release of ICS from Rogers. However, it doesn't work on CM9. So the problem doesn't appear to be DSP Manager itself, but rather something in CM9.

How about the lack of kernel support at this time More than one thread on this, I read on yesterday. Though last time anyone really wasted their breath on the issue was around Alpha 3.

Tried it. Doesn't activate dsp manager. And what it does do I can replicate better with PowerAMP. And it doesn't affect in-call volume at all, which is what I was going for.
I just got volume+ from the developers website (full version for free) and it mostly works. There's a few ics bugs that they have to work out, but it does bump up the volume so I'm happy.

Has anyone else CONFIRMED that 3rd-party DSP apps (I gave the example of AudioFX, but you can try others) don't work on CM9 on the Skyrocket? So far I've not heard from anyone else providing collaboration of my observations. If you have an i727 or i727r running CM9 (or any other phone for that matter, seeing as this isn't even a Skyrocket thread), could you please install a 3rd-party DSP app and let me know if it works on your phone. Thanks in advance.

As said in my previous post, volume+ works mostly on cm9. It has a few glitches here and there, but it does increase the volume. I haven't had a chance to fully test it so I don't know what all is or isn't working.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
I believe the volume increase provided by Volume+ has nothing to do with the DSP chip. You need to test this on equalization, bass boost, etc. These are features provided by that chip.

Tested. EQ and volume control work for the speaker. Bass boost and echo/delay don't have any effect. Nothing works for bluetooth or headset. Oh, you can also change how many steps in the in-call volume. No volume boost though. For all this it would be better and easier just to use Poweramp. It works better.
The problem is I need equalization for all of my audio applications. This means that I need an equalizer that works generically rather than one that is built into a specific app. Virtually all of my music is played from Slacker Radio or TuneIn Radio, neither of which have built-in equalization.

Found a DSP fix for Motorola ATRIX 4G...
I play music via Bluetooth into car audio system and loved DSP in CM7.....I replaced joersaxx 1.3 faux kernel to stock 1.0....I found this link
and it worked like a charm!!! The first thing I noticed was it worked like in CM7 when the first menu was selection of output rather than straight to menu....I am going to try flashing a 1.3 kernel to see if it still works....
Thank you Yasir Idrees! I tried to post link....but I'm a noob!!! Go in to setting in /system/apps and set as per thumbnail.
Has anyone else noticed this? I've tried LiquidSmooth RC8, the latests Paranoid Android, and the newest SlimROM. They all must be based off the same ROM, because audio quality is equally horrendous. I notice that in the Settings > Sound that there is an option to select between MusicFX and DSPManager. However, none of these applications seem to have any affect over the audio, whatsoever. I am surprised that the BASE audio wouldn't be the same as every other ROM. Shouldn't these EQ/DSP add-ons just allow you to modify the stock flat-EQ? Most people would probably want a flat EQ anyways, because their audio ends up on the car stereo, or some other device that already has these controls.
With that said, are you guys noticing the same thing? I absolutely cannot get Pandora or Spotify (haven't tried any others because I don't care,) on these new ROMs. I hope this isn't what the latest CM10 offers, because I am about to flash to that now.
Oh man, I just loaded up the latest CM10 stable and it has the same problem... At least DSPManager can modify the EQ for the entire system, not app-specific. Even still, it sounds nowhere near as good as it did before. While I'm flashing my phone I am playing feeding the same Beacon "The Phoenix" audio cube on my desk with my Transformer TF300T and it is shaking the whole surface with bass, and sounds very full. I played with all the EQ settings, and went manual and got nothing remotely close using my S3 with these ROMs.
Just restored my CM10 11/7/2012 nightly and it has flawless audio over bluetooth--but other issues like missed calls, etc
You silly op you.that's backwards dspmgr is simply part of the general aosp experience and all aosp roms recently developed that bug
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I dug through quite a view AOSP-based ROM threads and could not find anything. I don't understand how anyone could possibly use these ROMs with that horrifying bug?
Freeze or uninstall DSPmanager then install a new audio engine (I use team AC!D's), problem solved.
EDIT: I've never had that happen before but I always freeze that app and I've been using AC!D audio mod since the beta for this phone.

Is this supposed to be a 'feature?' If so? They should remove DSPManager and let us decide. I would always prefer some flat EQ so that I can process it elsewhere.

I am currently rooted on Liquidsmooth JB 4.1.2 RC9 and I am experiencing weird issues with my audio on the stock music player.
I am using Nooxoide EIXO-rewire PRO v2.0.10 for my audio enchanments but i am noticing a distinct and consistent issue in between track and as every other track plays on my stock music player. As track 1 is playing Nooxiode Eixo sound beautiful but as Track 1 changes into Track 2 i hear a slight pop and from there the audio goes flat into Track 2, as Track 2 plays flat and finishes I hear that same pop in between tracks and Track 3 begins to play beautifully again with Nooxoide.
I have tried using Awesome Beats V3 and DSPmanager while getting the same issue, I went as far as formating the Device and doing a clean install of the ROM with no success.
I am pretty stumped on this and after doing some research I have yet to find a resolution. Anyone gone through this or care to add there .02 to the subject?
Thanks
I would take this Q to the Developer of Nooz or the Acid Mod thread since that's a popular app to use with the mod..
Also it can be ROM related. Have you tried it in other ROMs? What about different music players?

This app installs the beats 'drivers' or some other type of audio driver. On my Galaxy Nexus (also Samsung) this absolutely worked.
It activates when you put the headphones in.
Maybe its just a generic ultra bass driver that it installs. But whatever it does, it just works.
Noticible difference in crisp deep lows with this installed versus uninstalled
So this app isn't yours, you have no idea what it does, and if it's like you say and it installs "drivers" then it's installing proprietary HTC drivers on a Samsung phone. Yeah - all of those add up to a bad idea.
Plus Beats is a kernel implementation which Samsung legally itself can't use - so yeah - any "improvement" is going to be negligible if any at all - falling into placebo category.

Basically, beats has 2 parts; hardware and a software EQ. Beats hardware is basically when the manufacturer uses higher quality components and places them on a separate PCB to keep interference (crosstalk) down. The second, the software part of beats makes the default audio profile "duller" by lowering some frequencies. Then they tweak the second "beats" EQ profile with slightly "crisper" sound by basically adjusting the mids and highs upwards a bit. This results in more of a difference when switching back and forth between the beats on and off settings. You can pretty much achieve the same effect by messing with the built in EQ if there is no actual beats hardware.
The beats audio has been modded to work with non HTC crap phones for ever. Thank you for sharing.

Just trying to lend a hand.
Have been reading that people are having issues with headphones mucking up the audio in some way.
If nothing else maybe this could help fix.
Even with the EQ settings on Google music I could never get my nexus to sound as good as with these drivers.

Maybe you shouldn't call it a driver but an audio profile. I think that would put people at ease. Some people might be on edge since development is slow right now and we got off to a rocky start with the whole brickloop drama.

I looked into it on my Note 2 and when I tore down the apk, it basically revealed a bunch of audio settings. Some were EQ settings, some were profiles for headphones, phone speaker etc. There are no drivers since we don't have any applicable hardware on these phones.
Doesn't work for me, just breaks third party audio apps that use the audio settings feature. The stock Samsung app has its own EQ. I suspect it's trying to do the same thing DSP Manager does on CM ROMs but all it did on mine was crash things. There's no uninstaller either which sucks, so backup or Odin if you want to remove it.
