[Q] LT26 stuck at Sony logo after failed flashing

Hello, at start I apologize for my poor english, but I hope, that you'll understand what's the matter.
First I prepared to install new rom on my Xperia - I've rooted phone and installed CWM. After that I've launched CWM, then I've erased whole phone's memory - cache, system, data and dalvik. When I want to install rom from .zip file i get info, that file is bad. Next I've tried to launch mass storage mode to copy rom one more time and CWM was unable to open ums lunfile. When I've rebooted phone only thing I saw was Sony logo. Now I'm stucked at it. Phone have locked bootloader, so I can't launch fastboot mode. Adb can't find any connected devices. What can I do now?

Use flashtool and flash a stock ftf.
You must have unlocked your bootloader and hence seus gives that error.

Okay, so here is what you must do :-
1. Download stock ics ftf from here - http://ni.0a0.in/files/3432_kznsa/LT26i_6.1.A.2.55_SG Generic (1257-6921).zip
2. Extract the zip to get the ftf file.
3. Flash it with flashtool
4. Flash this custom kernel - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729280
5. Then go and check out any custom roms that you like
All (most) custom kernels have CWM in them. As you have unlocked your bootloader, you can flash a custom kernel and get CWM. Also, each time you wipe /system nothing will happen to CWM. CWM remains intact
Good luck!
thanks

[HOT UPDATE][ROOT .55][Locked/Unlocked Bootloader] - Xperia S / SL [NOOB FRIENDLY]

Hello Everyone,
This guide will tell you how to root and install CWM on .55 Firmware. This method 100% works ( I have tested it myself on locked bootloader ) As I did not find any guide to do this - just some posts, I am creating this guide. For now, THIS IS ONLY FOR XPERIA S LT26i & XPERIA SL LT26ii Just follow these steps and you should be good to go : -
FOR UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER, CHECK THE 2nd POST.
EDIT:- There seems to be a working one-click root tool for the .55 FW which can be found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2204321
It is a much easier method to root
1. Irrespective of whichever rom/kernel you are on, just flash this ftf with flashtool -
For Xperia S - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1857198
For Xperia SL - https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxpuzJJjkttpNTdhT2MtdjQySkE/edit?pli=1
Check this guide if you don't know how to flash a ftf - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
2. Power On your phone and go to settings---> Developer's Options ---> Enable USB Debugging. Then go to settings---> Security---->Enable non-market applications.
3. Root your .45 phone with this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Just select normal root method and follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Then check if you have SuperSu installed in the applications laucher. Then install CWM from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1939875
5. Before you reboot your device into CWM, download this pre-rooted .55 zip and copy this to the internal storage -
Xperia S LT26i - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2005595
Xperia SL LT26ii - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2159310
6. Power off your phone and then press then start the phone by holding the power menu. Once you see the SONY logo, press the volume up/down buttons, power button and keep touching the screen in the middle simultaneousy. ( I know it sounds a bit wierd:silly: )
7. Once you are in recovery, select wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition. Then go to advanced---> wipe dalvik cache. Then go to mounts & storage ----> format /system.
8. Then select the downloaded pre-rooted .55 zip in install zip from sd ( internal storage ). Wait until it finishes.
9. DO NOT REBOOT NOW! Hold the power and volume up button together for around 10s until you feel 3 vibrations consecutively. At this point, your phone WILL BE TURNED OFF.
10. Then download this ftf of .55 -
For Xperia S - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1997030
For Xperia SL - https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxpuzJJjkttpOHpyemVBdHRzNkU/edit?pli=1
11. In Flashtool, while selecting the .55 ftf just tick the box of EXCLUDE SYSTEM. Then start flashing the ftf on your powered off phone by connecting it directly into download mode.
12. Once the device boots, you will have a rooted .55 phone. Just re-install CWM just like in step 4 and you are ready.
Enjoy flashing custom roms for locked bootloader. Just remember that when /system is formatted, CWM is lost. Good luck.
Press the thanks button if this guide helped you.

Root with unlocked bootloader
As I have seen that many people even after unlocking their bootloader don't know how to root, I am writing this guide.
1. Make sure that you have unlocked your bootloader. You can do this by dialing *#*#7378423#*#*. It will open the service menu. Then go to Service info--->Configuration. Rooting status should say :- "Bootloader unlocked: Yes". If you don't know how to unlock your bootloader, just check this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
2. Power On your phone and go to settings---> Developer's Options ---> Enable USB Debugging. Then go to settings---> Security---->Enable non-market applications.
3. Flash the latest .55 FTF with Flashtool. If you are already on .55, just skip this step.
For Xperia S - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1997030
For Xperia SL - https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxpuzJJjkttpOHpyemVBdHRzNkU/edit?pli=1
Check this guide if you don't know how to flash a ftf - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
4. Download the attached Superuser.zip and copy it to your internal storage.
5. Then flash any custom kernel in fastboot mode. Here is a list of custom kernels - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950706
If you don't know how to flash a custom kernel, just follow this guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1963961
NOTE:- Flash a custom kernel which is meant only for stock ICS. For example :- Rayman's Elite, Krabpel's kernel etc.
6. Reboot into CWM by pressing the volume keys when you see the SONY logo. Choose install zip from sd card ( internal storage). Then choose Superuser.zip. Once installation is complete, just reboot.
7. Go to Settings--->Apps--->All and search for Superuser. Then clear Superuser's data and also force stop it.
8. Done! Enjoy your rooted phone. You are also now free to try any of the custom rom.
Just in case.

If you don't want to lose data, wipe only cache and dalvik cache and format /system. Then try installing the zip. If your phone does not work properly, it is better to wupe data too.

No no, I think that you are getting confused. First we root the phone with Bin4ry's method. At this point you will be on 6.1.A.2.45 stock ics which you just flashed with Flashtool. Then install CWM by following the steps here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1939875
Once you have installed CWM, download the pre-rooted zip from here and copy to your phone's storage - https://hotfile.com/dl/180118347/fd5551c/LT26i_6.1.A.2.55_SG_Stock.zip.html
Then reboot your device. When you see the SONY logo, keep tapping the screen, press the volume and power buttons, everything simultaneously. Then you will be in CWM. Do all the wipes and install zip from SD card (internal storage) and choose the pre-rooted zip. Once installation is done, you will have /system ( already rooted ) of .55 fw while everything else is of .45. So instead of booting into the system, we POWER OFF the device by PRESSING THE VOLUME AND POWER BUTTON FOR 5 seconds. Then follow the steps from step 10 and you will be good to go.

That's because when you format /system, CWM is lost. That's why the last step says to re-install CWM. Just install CWM as you did previously during the rooting procedure and you will be good to go.:good:

[Q] [ARC S] getting bootloop after successfull install of "ultimate hd 4.0"

hi
this is the first time i am trying to install a custom rom. after reading a lot i never tried to actualy modify my arc s, but today was the day!
i tried with this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1920207
now i have some specific questions to find out why i am getting a bootloop (screen gets black and shows "SONY" over and over again).
right now i am on stock rom and kernel again: model: LT18i / android 4.0.4 / kernel 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected] #1 / build 4.1.B.0.587
i followed the how-to in the thread in every step besides one: "For Locked Bootloaders: Root your phone using this tutorial, than install CWM using this app" i did not use the linked tutorial because at first i just wanted root and found this "one click" method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219711
this method worked for me and i already was able to use superuser. having a working superuser app i decided to go on with the tutorial and used x-parts to install CWM.
after that i did everything like in the how-to, going through the aroma installer, successfully installed the rom, reboot through the recovery menu -> bootloop.
after many hours and tries i decided to open a thread and hope that someone can help me to solve my problem.
thanks!
EDIT: about the bootloader. on my device it says "bootloader unlock allowed: yes" and the number that is mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2375463 for me is 12W20
can i unlock the bootloader or not? i am realy confused with everything right now...

Yes, you can still unlock the bootloader, by using the official method at unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com.
thanks for your reply. in the roms thread it says that it can be installed with locked bootloader.
i have root and superuser works. next i used this: (imagine a link to google play x-parts :laugh to install cwm and then i continued with the how-to as it says:
...
Place ROM on SD-Card
Back up user apps and data. (Various apps available, search Google Play. This is a popular one)
Power off phone.
Boot to CWM (Keep pressing the Volume Down key after the Sony logo appears)
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Mounts and Storage --> Format /System
Advanced > Wipe Battery Stats
Install zip from SD card > Choose Xperia Ultimate HD
Follow on screen instructions on AROMA.
After Complete Installation untick "reboot" and select reboot in CWM
any idea why i get a bootloop after installing the rom? oh...and i still don't get it how to start my phone directly in cwm recovery. i tried to push or hold different buttons. right now i saw the recovery menu only because i chose to reboot to recovery in the x-parts app. sorry, if similar questions have been already asked, but i don't get it
EDIT: is the kernel and/or stock rom a problem maybe? can i install the custom rom starting from: model: LT18i / android 4.0.4 / kernel 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected] #1 / build 4.1.B.0.587?
Did you flash this? I never tried install any kernel or ROM on locked bootloader, so my phone is unlocked. I read this tutorial and i succesfully installed this ROM on my ARC without bootloop. BTW i using LuPuS v16 kernel, not vengeance...

You can use the Flashtool Version 0.9.11.0 [Thanks to Androxyde :good:]
There are things in this application. Include: Root device, Bootloader Unlock, Flash kernel and Flash ROM.
By fastboot mode in Flashtool you can install any kernel and after turn on your device using CWM and install any ROM.
In here you can find many ROMs and Kernels [Thanks to Xerxin :good:]

installing super jelly bean

So im not quite fammiliar with xperia devices but im trying to install the latest sjb rom, i dont get the part to flash the kernal before flashing the cwm recovery and the rom. I download fusion kernel v5.5 but i get a .img file, the flashtool wants a.sin file(when i tryto use "select kernal to flash"). I tried to do a full wipe, then flashing sbj trough cwm recovery but it just goes into a bootloop. Flashed 0.537 firmare to get it to normal status again. bootloader is unlocked, atleast it said "bootloader unlocked allowed=yes" in phone info.
1. Did you set Flashtool to fastboot mode?
2. Is the kernel compatible with the ROM?

its this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2134257&highlight=recovery
i dont understand step number 2
0.Only for unlocked bootlader
1. Copy super jelly bean and gapps to sd card
2. Flash any jb kernel for neov via fastboot.. i recommend fusion kernel 5.4 (present inside the zip file )
3.[OPTIONAL] flash stock ics .587 ftf excluding kernel and simlock.ta files..
4. boot into recovery
5.Perform Full Wipes

Well you need to unlock boatloader... Simply having unlock allowed yes won't do... Once you unlock you can flash the required kernel in fastboot...

Flash jb kernel for your device only... You need unlocked boatloader to flash custom kernel... Custom kernels are needed to boot non stock roms... With cwm you can flash rom but that doesn't mean it will boot without the corresponding kernel...

Open the window, where you are supposed to choose the kernel file from. At the bottom of that window, look for a small drop-down clickable menu (by default there is *.sin written). Open the menu, choose *.img from the list and then you can flash the kernel.
EDIT: Unlock your bootloader first as well. It must show "bootloader unlocked: yes" in the menu.

i just install SJB8.0 on yesterday and found after i reboot device all shortcut in desktop that i move data to SD card disappear
but for shortcut that the data keep in phone no have any problem.
anyone can help me for this problem.
sorry for poor english
If I understand properly, you cant access files/apps that you previously backed up to sd card?
Anyway guys, Im having a really weird problem with SJB 8.0, I downloaded rom, gaps, patch and kernel, then copied everything except kernel to sd card, flashed kernel (and it worked), then I did full wipe but when I tried to flash rom, I got an "installation aborted error (bad)".
The interesting thing is that when I try to extract the rom (AND gapps) on computer, I also get an error for both of the files (the file is damaged/corrupted etc.).
So is there a problem with files (rom and gapps) on dev-host or what? It's wierd cuz patch for arc can be either flashed or extracted on computer.
Please help. :/
EDITED:
Okay problem solved, the gapps and rom files were corrupted so I had to download them couple of times to get it working (tried to extract it first on comp. to check) and then it worked while flashing too, so everything's good now.
