Htc on our Note2? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello guys. Is there anyway of having maybe the htc sense port to our phone? Well the only thing I like about it is the weather animation on the lock screen. Like showed here... http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=related&v=IwjoyHJ4ykM
Thanks .

That's not even an android phone. that's WM6.1
anyway, i think you can get BeautifulWidgets to do animations on the home screen.
We will never, ever and i mean ever get Sense on the Note II.

Why not? The MT4GS (My last device) has two TW roms and it came with HTC sense from the factory. The OG Droid had at least one sense port. The dev community sometimes likes to take up challenges.
Is there something hardware based that precludes it?
I don't understand how you can be absolutely certain about this. Can you help me understand?
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement

It's a driver issue mostly, plus a lot of these manufacturer skins are closed source so they'd be mostly broken.

I know that's not a android phone. But I think the Htc Evo from sprint is android/Sense and they have that animation. Oh well lol thanks. .

Maybe it would be possible to port one UI overlay to another device with that XPosed Framework using a module. Just a thought

[Q] Am I alone in wanting....

see someone here try to port Touchwiz to an Incredible 2?
I know there are CM7 Skins.... but I don't want AOSP.
This should probably not be in development.
And to answer your question, yes, yes you most likely are.
The only desirable thing touchwiz has for me is the music control in notification area and omfgb has that so I'm good lol. Love to see em in the sense roms tho

You are very much alone.
Wrong forum but I agree. I think Touchwiz 4.0 is beautiful.
I kinda like touchwiz, I just like sense a lot better
Sent from my ADR6350 using XDA App
touchwiz 4 *theme* might be nice sure...the entire skin itself...ugh
Yes. Yes you are.
I wouldn't use it just because its called touchwiz. Sounds like a child molester at Hogwarts.
I would absolutely love touchwiz on here id use it daily
Sent from my Incredible 2 3D using XDA App
TouchWiz is one of the reasons I don't use my Droid Charge...
You may in fact be alone here.. I had a Samsung Fascinate and if it wasn't for the development community I would have been completely turned off from the Droid system.. I thanked the Droid God's when my Fascinate crapped itself and I was able to get a DINC2 for a replacement.. Almost made me switch to an iPhone.. Sends chills down my spine.. $0.02 !!
its probably never gonna happen touchwiz is heavily tied into the framework much like sense is. while a few Samsung phones have a sense port they are far from fully functional. I imagine it would be the same the other way around. not saying it can't be done but I believe it would be much more trouble than its worth
Sent from my Incredible 2 3D using XDA Premium App
Yep the fascinate almost drove me to an ifone too. Thankfully it had some good developers. And thankfully the inc2 showed me how awesome android was again...good riddance to anything made by Samsung.

I fell in love with HTC with the Eris, loved my inc1, and loving my inc2. I can only hope that HTC produces a phone in the future smaller than 4.3' screen.. Just too big for me. I'd personally like a 3.8' screen. But what can ya do. They seem to actually be getting bigger. 4.65' for a phone is just crazy to me.

Well considering the fact that the new Galaxy S2 has neon support it actually might be possible. It would have to be a full RUU type of ROM because the framework would have to be totally changed. Id say its possible though.

Its not really downgrading your phone its just a different UI. And technically Touchwiz is probably faster considering it doesnt have near the bloat and is a lot closer to AOSP than Sense is.

I've used MIUI on a few devices. I never liked it much. Its merely ok IMO. I just stick with rooted stock on my GN2. I've tried JellyBomb and its just ugly lol.
The way we have the Sbrissen thread I would put up some money if a DEV who OWNS this phone will make a stable version of MIUI. I would not donate to someone porting this who does not actually have the Sprint GN2. Anyway, I guess it's a dead point because there doesn't seem to be anyone willing to take on the task.

I'd totally be down to run MIUI.

[TUTORIAL] Extend boot animation time

This is a non visual tutorial at the moment. I will add them later as I have no time to do this at the moment.
Always backup your boot animation in case the new one does not work.
Requirements:
1: Some type of root file manager. (Solid explorer recommended)
2: Root access
Step 1: go to system>media>bootanimation.zip>desc.txt
Step 2: you are going to need to go to the second line and change the letter "p" to the letter "c".
Step 3 change the video and or audio to whatever length.
Step 4 reboot and see if it worked.
Note: this may not work on all ics roms (4.0.X) or 4.1.X. It absolutely does not work on liquid smooth Rom. There is a certain time limit as it is not forever and it is impossible to make it last "forever" because this is hardware and unless you know how to change hardware it is impossible.

The method that was mentioned in the OP is wrong... the 'p' in the desc.txt file basically defines the animation part. Now, if you really want to decrease the boot time of your animation you have two methods:
- remove images from the animation folders making sure you keep the numbered naming convention in order
- increase the value for the FPS number in the desc.txt, the number should be next to the image resolution (preferred method)
If anyone would like me to create a tutorial on how to properly set up a flashable boot animation I will gladly do so.

Yes and I have insurance. At the moment insurance wont take any claim of mine. Man somebody got a warranty exchanged of my galaxy s2 during christmas time and it was sent to new york. When I call tmobile they sent me to the insurance department. they gave me a fraud ticket but I still get calls from tmobile saying to return the defective phone or I will be charged. I called tmobile again and they said that they cant do nothing about it. That they will charge me the $200 and when they do I have to call em back so they can take off that $200 off of my bill. but until they do I cant filed a exchange or a report. Sucks big time. and its been 3 months now. So I dont want to get my phone messed up until that is fixed

I would suggest pull the battery for 30 seconds, reboot see if that helps, if not verify the rom/kernal/modem are all compatible with each other or even update to latest versions... if thats ok and still laggy then reflash your preferred rom/kernal/modem(be careful with the modem part and try leaving this alone if at all possible, as youve probably read the horror stories)... let us know if you have any success

My locl screen lags a lot I don't know why. I unlocked a s3 with ripple effect n it was nice. My note 2 "better than s3" can4 even do that...;/
Sent From Land Of Ooo. Using My Note 2.
If im not mistaken, our phone has that ability already (not sure which one exactly but I have seen it somewhere), but ots really just going to take time.... put it like this, the longer devs are working on our phones the better, it just takes time. S3 has no where near the challenges of this phone, nor the potential, plus all the extra time they have had... not to mention, you could always ask the dev to put it in (good luck waiting for samsung to unroll, whether customers demand it or not)...

How long is the lag... outside of a couple seconds (which if you understand governor processes, and how many step intervals our quad processesor mandates) than nothing is outta the ordinary... everything will improve... infact custom kernals already better that process, which is why rootibg to atleast try an uptodate stock rom/kernal or even modem flash is suggested... if after all thes things your phone still has issues than it is indeed defective and worth replacement

A) flash a non-TMobile rom (or "non-ported rom")
Jedi X series, (not to be confused with the Jedi Master series), is a direct GN2 port (from att I think) made for the TMO GNII. Why, you ask? Jedi X series is based off 4.1.2 (which TMO has yet to release)
Jedi Master series is 4.1.1 (based off "pure, but debloated with better kernal" TMO version, ETC)
B) Messed up while changing the modem during rom install. Like with a rom that "updates the modem" or aroma-like installer of modem
C) phone-unlocking mishaps (ie nothing to do with root, recovery, rom flashing)
D) and then even people who "forgot they were in a different carrier/phone thread and, repeated the same mistake as those outline in A...
Since you already rooted once, I bet you that if you follow all the proper steps (and even, like me, dont even "do a efs/nv/modem/imei backup" other than through CWM/TWRP) and flash Jedi Master 9 or even a ported4TMO Jedi XX, you will not lose anything and that "LAG" problem goes away... BET

Some roms do auto flash modems and even if it doesnt , but its made for a different carrier, you might screw up your phone (bork?), especially without a backup of originals...(yet even without a back up, others have still been able to solve this problem)

What would be the steps to not screw up the phone. I know ill have to root again and then install (twrp which is the recovery I used to use in my s2) then make a nandroid? <<<just in case. The download rom and use directions has in OP. No need to flash anything other than that?

Yes sir... when flashing, use the aroma installer one (1g download, not the 700m) so you can be sure the modem isnt touched... also aroma allows for more customization... enjoy
