SOD on reboot with aosp lockscreen TW roms - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Searched and searched for info. Doesn't matter what TW based rom. If aosp lockscreen is enabled. A reboot always ends up with SOD. prefer the aosp lockscreen but if no fix not a big deal. Any help greatly appreciated.

Have you tried enablimg the aosp lockscreen right after a flash before you restore your apps with titanium backup? It could be a conflict with one of your restored apps. So clean flash a twiz rom. Then after setting up your account change the lockscreen. Then reboot if it doesnt bootloop then you have to go through the process of restorimg the apps either one by one. Or in batches of 3 or 5. Then reboot. And when it finally bootloops you have your culprit.

Always clean flashed. Never restored apps with titanium always done 1 by 1. Even with no apps installed it does it. I

Also I don't get a boot loop. Fully boot but SOD. Get messages, notifications but the pure black screen.

I believe that is a known issue. You have Tdunham's AIO mod installed? Try installing the V4.0 AIO, I think that issue was fixed. Also, do you have any battery saver apps installed? what is your kernel/CPU settings? Are you undervolting at all?

G2-sense rom question?

So I just came back to the g2 after leaving the g2x. I'm rooted any running CM 7.1. I'm looking for a sense rom with little problems. I don't care if its froyo or gingerbread I just want something that doesn't have the led, mms or missing sms problems. What are your suggestions? Thanks

it does have sms problems though, this one is going to be your best bet VIRTUOUS SENSE
I have it downloaded but unsure about trying just yet? Have you ran this rom and how did u like it?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
I would suggest Virtuous 1.0.2. It is a Froyo Sense 2.1 ROM that is very stable. The only issue with it is when you use one of the non-standard kernels there are screen-wake issues. This is solved by using SetCPU or CPUTuner and setting a broader range of frequencies in the screen off profile.
I tried virtuous 1.0.2 and it was extremely laggy. I took a while to scroll from screen to screen and open the app drawer. I liked the way insert coin ran but couldn't get past the led problem.
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
Did you use CWM or Rom Manager to flast 1.0.2? RM is not a good way to flash roms as it can be alittle tempermental.
Also, when you flash, reboot before you do any configurations. 1.0.2 has scripts that run on first boot which may give you a false first impression.

[Rom] Arctic ICS Sense 3.6 - ALPHA RELEASE

CLOSED
*** ICS Sense 3.6 Android 4.0.4 - Vivo GSM RUU ***
Ok, the Rom posted here is a port from the Incredible S RUU. It's been converted so that CDMA is functioning on this Rom...
The Reason this Rom is posted is mostly for Development. This Port DOES NOT require a change in HBoot and is 90% functional right now (Exceptions listed below). This should be good enough for a Daily Driver for most!
ROM INFO
- Android Version: 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
- Based on: Vivo Sense 3.6 RUU (Chinese Leak)
- Sense Version: 3.6
WHAT DOESN'T WORK
- Friend Stream (Don't have a clue... App seems fine, but there is no way to connect it to a Social Network)
- SuperUser - Root functions are not working in this version. THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU WILL LOSE ROOT! Apps that require Root Permissions will not work.
- APN's - The Apn's have to be set manually. Not sure if this is a Rom Feature or if it's something not working in the Rom. To Set APN's manually, pull the notification bar down and select the "connected" icon, Press Menu and Select New APN... APN's are listed below for the Stock VZW Setup US

YES, Camera and Video Record work 100%!!! Flash is IN-SYNC with Camera, or so it appears! I believe that FaceLock should ALSO work, but have not yet tested.
I will not be continuing ANY development of this Rom, since I just don't have the time to do more. I am hoping that a few Developers here can us this as a Base for future development of some more Awesome Rom's for our Device!

ppl have reported issues when using CWM touch recovery... files not sticking when flashed, there blaming some of the bootloops on cwm touch, etc... i use optimus prime and have had no flashing issues. though i have successfully "dirty flashed" this rom overtop of vicious i would still recommend a full wipe when coming from any other ROM as there will be less room for confusion

fantastic,awesome,perfect,amazing #1 for me...:thumbup::beer:
I'm using Official slim bean 3.1 with lightning zap kernel and I'm getting average 4 hours of screen time. My favorite rom so far!
CM10 Nightlies. I always get the most out of my battery out of it. Yet, the call quality on them kinda suck. People keep saying i'm breaking up while on a call.
Just to add I'm currently running slimstar and its pretty smooth on my end hasn't settled yet though

Depends what you are asking for. If you want performance, usually CM10. If you want battery, I'd also say CM10. For massive amounts of preferences go with PACman ROM.

All Star V7. Oddly enough I had to flash the rotate fix on it but otherwise great. I tend to get between 4-5hrs of screen time (tested on a plane flight from Dulles to Vienna) per battery.

Cyanogenmod 10
I am running slim-star! I really like it. new build is 26.1 ... Currently re-flashing though because it wouldn't detect my network o__o so I couldn't call anyone.
ROM from GS2USR
I flashed almost all the ROMs and the best one so far is the "[P?+Aokp+Cm] P.A.Cman True All in 1 ROM[01-03-13]" by GS2USR . Using v 19.0 currently.
Very fast/ snappy, no bloatware, has all the options you can imagine. ANd everything works great. I went to other roms for change, but kept coming back to this for smooth sail experience.
Good luck brother !

Best T989 ROM Setup
Based on the advice of others who posted, I tried Slim Star v1.26, updated OTA today to v1.27. It is the best of all I tried for T989. No call echo, which was the deal breaker on a few JB roms. No WiFi issues, which I had with the latest CM10 nightlies. Here's the whole sequence of what I end up doing, after a lot of trying things
Flashed Slim Star ROM
Flash the Nexus boot anim from here
Flash Walkman.zip forget where I got that one from LOL, it was in the "Extras" or "Add-Ons" section of one of many ROMS I tried
Flashed latest ASD Kernel (probably overkill I know but I have good luck with this flash as far as eliminating Echo)
Bonus that ASD Kernel flash script does a cache wipe and dalvik wipe and reboot for me, so I do it last (3 less things I have to do in CWMR lol)
Wait 10 min (hardest part LOL)
Reboot, wait 1 min
Set up Google Acct but don't restore phone! Once I accidentally didn't uncheck Restore Phone and it won't let you go back! I had to start all over LOL
Slim Star comes with an app called Update Me, full of Awesomeness. I used the Add-ons menu in there to download a Extras.zip and it's own Slim-Gapps, reboot to Recovery and flash both of those
Today Slim Star did an OTA update of itself to 1.27, dirty flashed that, then set default keyboard to Android because I have to have gesture texting! It just never stops getting more Awesome! :good:
Also Holo Launcher that comes with Slim Star did a Play store update of itself to v2.01. Nice launcher that comes with Slim Star, I set as default, has really good solid Settings organization, never "forgets" my settings like some ROMs did, also wrap around Home screens which I missed for awhile. And it doesn't try to be Phablet, which personally for me I didn't like about some ROMs.
I then disable the following Apps that I don't use (don't know if this is a good idea or not, but it seems to work)
Apollo (I use Walkman)
Google Partner Setup
Google Play Music
Music
Picasa Uploader
Picasa Web Albums

I think it's on par with stock rooted. I tried v2 and v3 and it's just not that big of a deal. It doesn't seem worth it.
I used to run FreeGS3 on my first S3 (from ICS 4.0, before it got stolen) and it was the best of the best. Very lean and great battery life and very nice involved developer. Then it started getting more and more "feature" wise with things i considered silly fluff, but most were optional which i liked anyway, pick what you want or not.
After replacing my S3 a month ago, i decided to run stock TouchWiz rooted and have kept it that way ever since. Same battery life, fast, stable, solid.
In my opinion, stock rooted is what i find the best. But if ask me what the best custom ROM is out there, i'd still recommend FreeGS3.

It's really lean and fast but I say make a nandroid back up flash rom and try it for your self if you don't like it restore your set up
My very first Rom I flashed was FreeGs3 by Clark44 and I very much enjoyed it. I flashed the newest one about a week ago, ( I'm a self confessed flashaholic) and I know for a fact the wi-Fi tether works. It's a nice Rom I would recommend it

I too ran stock rooted for a while before picking freegs3. I love this Rom. It is basically a stock tw rim with added features that you can choose to install or not at flash. It is also very customizable via morphology..you can change toggle colors, toggle background, status bar background, battery, Wi-Fi, 3g cell icons and colors. You can also customize your dialer background and colors. There are also full themes or you can change just what you want.
You have gotta try this Rom...I get amazing battery life with the stock kernel. It's also amazingly fat and smooth. I get no fcs.
Hope this helps.

freegs3 issue
I have a stock rooted GS3. I used odin and had CWMR. I downloaded TWRP ran that and made a backup. Then when i tried running the Freegs3 rom following the instructions from qbking77's video. I did everything like in the video and saw all the same results he was seeing in the video but when it was finished and it went to reboot i didnt see the sonic logo and my phone went right back into TWRP. I tried rebooting a few times but it always right back into recovery mode. Finally I wiped everything again and restored to my back-up of the stock root. Has anyone seen or heard of this before? Anyone have any tips of suggestions of what i may be doing wrong? any help would be appreciated. Thanks
