Is there an alternate way to turn phone on if power button is not working? Checked out recovery and donload mode and both require use of the power button. Also tried holding volume down + camera then plugging the usb charger but nothing.

Try Quick Boot in the store. Keep in mind that you may not be able to enter download mode still.

Just got my phone today and I already hate the damn T-Mobile boot screen.
Anyways I came from the Vibrant (SGH-T959) and I rooted it myself but for some reason I can't get into download mode with the Note 2 (SGH-T889).
I've tried the Home + Down Key + Power nothing.
I've tried the Home + Up Key + Power...nothing
I've tried turning USB debugging mode on and off + Home + Down Key + Power and I still get nothing.
I don't think I'm that stupid as I've tried the Home + Down Key + Power 4 times over and I still get nothing.
I've tried it with ODIN running and with ODIN not running.
I've tried it with a different mico USB cable and still got nothing.
My Home/Down/Power key's do work.
BTW I have the device fully powered down when trying any of these options ie soft menu and pulling the battery.
are you holding all 3 buttons until after the samsung splash screen? The first couple times i tried it I let go too soon.
Oky power off completely take the battery out, Put it back in then hold power + volume down + home at the same time and don't let go until u see the download mode.

There's definitely a twist to it. Otherwise, there's always adb reboot download or a jig.

Get a USB JIG from http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-epic-4g-touch/ They also have a service that can fix your power button issue.

ADB Reboot <download/recovery> will work with USB debugging on.
But would caution against doing stuff like that right now, if the power button is wonky you don't want it acting up and doing something like rebooting the phone during a flash
So, I had to replace the screen on my phone because it was cracked. But not after putting it all back together, the phone just boots loops. I am trying to follow the guide about unbricking your phone but I am unsure about getting into download mode. I hold down both volume buttons and plug in the usb into the computer, but noting happens except the phone just keeps boot looping. How do you tell if phone is in download mode? What does the screen look like?
If you get into download mode, you can't miss it. It is pretty obvious. To get your phone into download mode, shut off your phone (Hold power button for 12 second), wait 2-3 sec, press both volume button and then insert usb cable.
Hmm. Seems like my problem is something else. I can't get in into download mode. I cant even get the phone ti turn on if it isn't plugged in.

Could your battery be dead? Getting to download screen is a bit tricky as far as the timing is concerned.
USB should be already inserted, otherwise phone will just boot when you plug the cable in.
So usb pluged in, next turn off the phone via power button, now hold both volume buttons + power, should work.

^this has been my experience as well. Turn phone off. Insert USB. Wait for charging screen to flash on and disappear. Then press and hold vol+ vol- power until Download Mode screen flashes on, then release buttons.
First of all when in download mode you'll see a box displayed saying "download mode" it's hard to miss even you try to.
Here's how I did it. Instead of trying to push both vol + and- , press the middle part of the volume rocker. And press power button at the same time. USB cable can be plugged in advance or can be inserted later on. Only advantage of plugging the USB later is it gives you a proper grip and reassurances you've pressed the button combination correctly. Note that the phone will look for a USB presence before booting to download mode..hope this helps

You did hold the power button too right? I'm asking just to make sure, not trying to be a smart mouth. Try hold power + both Vol. buttons without the battery, and plug in the usb cord to computer (with the other end attach to the device already of course). If that works, you can put the battery back in.

What should I do?
Hi,
unfortunately the power button of my nexus seems to be broken... so when the battery drains, I am not able to switch the phone back on.
Is there any solution to that?
I found this app that I haven't tested yet
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teliapp.powervolume
Is there a way to power up the phone anyway?
E.g. maybe by attaching the charging cable and remove battery? Is there a way to automatically power the phone up?
I installed CyanogenMod 12.1 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-nexus/development/cyanogenmod-12-beta-builds-t2958865 ... maybe is there an option in CM12.1 to enable power up by volume buttons instead that the default power button?
Thanks a lot for your help.

There are many ways in which u can boot in android with out Power Button.
1: Add a Schedule to phone when to turn on automatically.
2: Remap Power Button to other Volume Button.
3: Try Using Adb. This might not work, but may be try once. use "fastboot continue" command in adb.
