Just wondering what dpi settings people are using. Currently I am using 320... because it's a "recognized" value in the play store. Thinking I may jump up to 360 though. Others?

The UI scales according to the DPI value
higher DPI = bigger ui elements

Aren't there already modded DPI play stores in various threads here on XDA? I mean, I fully respect the desire to do it oneself; but when the fix already exists and all....

They are modded to whatever DPI they feel like. I like doing specifically for each device i have to match with the stock DPI set by manufacturer.

Oh, I didn't think they were modded to work on a certain DPI.
Also, are you talking about making the play store itself show a different DPI other than the system DPI or are you talking about the fact that some apps will show as invalid when system DPI is changed to something other than the manufacturer default? Because I was thinking the latter; and the modded play stores I've used in the past have fixed that problem.

Yes to the second part. If you change your DPI, some apps will say incompatible. And if you, say, change to 320 (a default android DPI) and you want to download something that uses our 1080p screen, say an HD game or something, it will more than likely come up as not compatible.
Where as, a modded market with our stock 480?( i think ) it will show as compatible.
Which is exactly why I would be interested in learning how to do it...

I have GINGERBREAD.XWKE7
Perhaps they just added on the new features on top of v3 and decided to call it 4.0 for marketing purposes... Maybe TouchWiz 3.5 would have been more appropriate. Or they were just too lazy to change filenames... lol

So if it's definitely v3, why not cancel your order? (assuming you haven't got it yet)
If you do have it, do the v4 features not work?
I'm curious how you figure it is definitely v3... Based on the filename alone? Based on the file size? Do you have some md5sums or something?
On Samsung's SGS2 website:
"The ultra-slim smartphonealso boasts 3D TouchWiz UX
adds to the evolutionary experience with a futuristic user interface.", but everywhere else (news releases, etc) on their site the call it "TouchWiz 4.0"
I think you are freakin' out over nothing.

Guys, I can rename it to be TouchWiz13.37 if that would change anything (it wouldn't). Find a feature of TW4 that's missing before we all get uptight about nothing It's likely a script that names the files

My photon did that when I went under 190, I don't know what causes that. Here's me at 160. I'd just leave it at 200 with startburst or flash a ROM that lets you run 160 if you really want it.

Touchwiz doesn't scale. Period. Use another launcher or find a version from a galaxy note and match the dpi setting.

That is exactly what it is like. Of course it can't actually change the screen resolution, but, it has the same effect as doing that on your PC. (Which got me thinking, why didn't any OS have a an OS wide 'scaling' option independent of screen resolution?)
I just edit my build.prop, though you can also you Density Changer or Blade Buddy and I'm sure there are many other apps out there that do it for you.
Of course you will need to be rooted to do any of this.

Thanks, I like it. It seems that 210 is the sweet spot for me. Only problem is that the dialer doesnt scale that well. Oh well, small price to pay.
Use go dialer, it looks great.
i swore by this with my epic 4g, and it was the very first thing i did when i got the touch....
but the little time i spent with it at normal, i started to realize that the phone was more reponsive. letters in the different keyboards i used seemed to pick up better and moving around felt more fluid, and i got the same ghosting thing you got on a different rom and i just kinda gave up
i admit that it could just be in my mind though, it could also be that using a secondary dialer and launcher may be slowing things down. what i do is use the 'font size' app and just decrease the size of the text leaving the icons and everything the same. would like it smaller though, would any of you happen to know an app that changes the size of the font alone?

No, I don't have that problem, that's unfortunate. Is it only when adding fb friends? If so maybe try signing out and signing in again under settings?
Anyone having an issue where a game will just get stuck on the "game loading" screen? A clear data / cache and uninstall won't fix. I can't figure out why ONE game would do this.

you can change the build.prop lines that say ro.sf.lcd_density to whatever you you want. 160 is wayyy too small and the status bar will FC on you. I'm trying 240 right now. Everything seems good so far, but this may cause issues with apps or the Play Store down the road.
You must be rooted to change these values. Also, there are 2 places that you have to change this value. Why? No idea. There shouldn't need to be more than 1 entry for LCD density in the build.prop. so change both, save, and reboot.

Yes, that's part of it. Apps read off that, Play Store uses the "fingerprint" in build.prop as well
I'd like to revisit this question. I used Titanium Backup to get a copy of the apk from my tablet. Any suggestions on how to get the Note II to take the apk? Is there a setting on the phone that I can change or do I need to modify the apk?

The DPI change really turns this phone from great to amazing.
Here is a walkthrough on how to change the dpi: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1993530
Keep in mind that it will mess some of your stock apps up since they aren't made for the resolution. You can either install other programs to use in place of the stock ones or you can flash these resized stock ones: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2001143
Good luck on it and be sure to nandroid backup before you do anything. Also be sure to hit the "thanks" button to the OP's on those links. Without them, our phones wouldn't nearly look as good =)

I'm sure you could root and edit the build prop to make the play store think it's a tablet

Is there a way to do this without root because uh, I don't want to sound like a noob but I have a zoppo zp998 and its a Chinese phone, and other is no help out there to root it because not many people know what they are. I can't work out how to do it myself because in recovery mode everything is written in Chinese. The screen is 5.5" and I think this tricking it into thinking it's a tablet would be a great way to get full use out of the screen, problem it is I also can't flash a ROM or boot a tablet kernel because of the whole Chinese thing..
Can somebody convert this wallpaper the "How to theme your Android like a mega boss "youtube video to the Nexus 4 so that it can fit the resolution. I also needed to be a psd like it was, but just change the size so that it can fit the nexus. Thanks.

Just thought now that many have got their phones, someone can try doing this?
Anyone up for it? Don't have any ps skills
I resized it (Or I think I did, there's lack of information in the OP). Download here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18858783/homeN4.psd.zip
Test it out & if anything is off let me know. I didn't test it myself, just doing a favor.

Thank you. I think what OP was looking for was to change the aspect ratio so that the wallpaper working in 1280x720 Galaxy Nexus would work on 1280x760 resolution Nexus 4.
I see only psd files in your dropbox zip file. Don't you have a jpeg so that it can be converted to a wallpaper.
The source PSD file, I got from here [ Youtube- How to theme lika Super Boss ] :

Okay, here you go. This wallpaper is proportional to the Nexus 4's 768 width. I tested it and it works but the Nav bar is sort of in the way, I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that or anything. Let me know.

no the nav bar is supposed to not be blocking the wallpaper I think we need to add some black space at the bottom to set it properly Im going to take a look right now and see if there is anything I can work up to get it to work on the n4
I use the dark version since day 1

Can you share the files. I tried implementing the wallpapers taken from "how to theme like mega boss" and wasn't able to make it work. Needed a multi-home screen theme. That's why.

I spent a couple hours last night messing with the PSD file, and came up with this. Imgur()com/y2Q6OTY.png. I'll upload one of the earlier wallpapers after I got the size down. (This is on a Nexus 4)
Wow, it's been a bit since I went Dark Pie UI as well with my Sensation. I did this and created my own lockscreen via widgetlocker.
This is mine now, still has "PIE" in it somehow LOL
