[Q] Dose anyone else have an alarm problem - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

I bought the Galaxy note 8.0 in NZ a few weeks ago. Everything is all right except the alarm doesn't have the sound. Can anyone help me please...
ps. i do turn on all the volume to the max but still no sound.

My alarm works fine, just to check, are u aware alarms have a volume slider too?
Follow the below list and you should be fine i guess;
1] Open Alarm (app)
2] click a existing alarm (or make one)
3] 'Alarm type' should prolly be (or mention) Melody
4] Max out the volume slider below (labeled with a speaker) does it make lots of noise?
5] If no, try change the 'Alarm tone' to something that does.
If you do get sound from it when doing the above, at least alarms & the speakers work, did you;
1] Select days for the alarm to ring on? (grey buttons ontop of alarm settings, select em)
2] Set the alarm to repeat weekly? (checkbox below days, prolly want it selected)
3] Did you maybe enable 'smart alarm' (making it appear like alarms make no sound, though it ramps up)
4] Set the alarm? (in the overview of alarms, an alarm is set if the clock icon is green)
If you dont get sound going trough the first list, check these;
1] In the statusbar dropdown menu, make sure the Sound button is highlighted in green
2] In Settings -> Sound, open the Volume popup and check that all 3 have some volume to them
That should pretty much get your alarms playing, theres not much else volume or alarm related i can explain hope it helps.

First thanks a lot.
But i do have the sound come out when i slide to the max volume. I think the alarm can get be setted because when the time up i can see the screen has been turned on and get that annoying alarm shaking. But still no sound..:crying::crying:

Hmm, very weird, if your sure its not the 'smart alarm' checkbox, contacting Samsung would be best;

Alarm Question

I used the search engine and could not find a similar topic. Please excuse if this has already been asked.
Is there a way to use the alarm on the Artemis even when I have the "Silent" or "Vibrate only" profile selected.
I don't want to get woken up by incoming calls before my alarm sounds
Thanks in advance for some nice answers
PS: What exactly is the "automatic" profile ? What's its function ?
You may need 3rd party software for the job. Try PocketWakeup (freeware), that'll over write the volume settings and. give you a increase volume alarm. Takes a while to get used to it, but it is nice with a big snooze button, mp3 support etc.

Hi,
the autamatic profile function disable all sounds if you have an appointment, and switch back the sounds after the end of the appointment. Obviously this activity is regarding to the calendar entries.
Why don't you switch off the phone during the night? Not the whole pda, just the phone function of it? In this case you don't have to change to silent or vibrate mode. The alarm will work and you don't have to wake up if a call is coming, because no call will coming...

Thats a nice idea
But I have made the experience that some short messages don't make their way when you shut off the phone. Sometimes they come some days later. But I'll give it a shot . Thanks !!
You should try PhoneAlarm. It's seems to be a little frowned upon, but my experiences are good. It has the option to turn off phone and message sounds but still enable notification.
Another (supposedly more stable) solution to your needs could be "Profiles for Windows Mobile" which is offering the same options like Phonealarm without skin support.

Alarm tool
After a lot of alarm tools I found pTravelAlarm to be the best choice for me. Clean interface, snooze function with big snooze button, also works when device is locked (yes, some don't ). Big advantage is that you can use mp3's for your alarm sound and you can set the volume to wake you up, independent of the current volume.

Repeat Alarm tone/ Edit SMS tone

Hi,
1) Does anyone know how to set the SMS tone to ring twice ie: like nokia or SE default tones (I usually dont notice it ringing the first time)
and how to change SMS tones? I can't seem to find that option. Been searching around can't figure out the answer.
2) Similiar for the Alarm, How do I get it to repeat indefinitely? One short ring isn't enough to wake me up
Funny you started this topic,
last 2 days i slept over... so i came to late on my work.
I tried the alarm in the morning, and it rings, but one time...
i can't wake up by one ring...
Alarm - You can go into TF3D - Settings - System - Clock & Alarms and set the tone there to repeat. Although mine repeats on its own...?
SMS tone - Use an editor and copy and paste the tone after itself, that how Nokia tones are done, its not "repeated", its only played once, its just the actual file has the same repeated in it.
Yep, I got that.. Now is there any way to decrease the wait between "repeats"? There seems to be long wait between repeats and it only gets longer each time
i followed you instructions on how to get the alarm to repeat, but now it plays the tone then long silence then it will play it again. I'v tried this will all the preset tones an it does the same, is there a way to get the alarm to continually play, or a good alarm app that wont interfere with the tf3d on the tp2
I have the same problem with the default alarm that the delay between the alarm is just way too long. you can try klaxon or g-alarm (v1.5.1 is still free) as an alternative.
I use this

for alarm and have no problems

Changing SMS tone is easy when you find it! If you go to Settings / Sound / Advanced / Notifications tab and select Messaging: New Text Message you can select the sound file you want etc.

Alarm Vibrate

ALARM VIBRATE
Can Someone please please please help me
My vibrate on my alarm for my Desire is so loud its driving me insane
In my Alarm Settings i only have the following options:
- Alarm in Silent Mode
- Alarm Volume
- Snooze Duration
- Side Button Behaviour
- And when i press menu nothing happens
Please can someone help me
You can disable the vibration when you're setting an alarm.
First you have "description" then "alarm sound", "repeat" and the last (you have to scroll down either with touch or with the trackpad) is the "vibration".
If this doesn't suit you, search the market for some alarm apps.

[Q] Alarm not sounding

My alarm has stopped ringing for some reason. It will still vibrate, though. If I turn off vibrate, the phone will light up and the touchpad will flash, but no sound comes out.
I've read in other threads you're supposed to set the alarm sound, wait for the music to play, and then set the volume there. I've done this, turned "Media volume" all the way up. The alarm still doesn't ring. Ringer volume is all the way up. I've even waited for the (silent) alarm to go off, and then tried to increase the volume. Pressing the volume keys while the alarm is going off just hits snooze. Any ideas, people?

Have you checked that the alarm volume is up? Go to Menu>Settings from where you enter your alarms and double check

What ROM and have you installed any notification apps that may have disabled your notifications?
are you using the stock alarm clock or another app?
Well, I "solved" the problem by downloading a replacement application from the Market. I forgot that even though it's a system application, the alarm is just another application. If it doesn't want to work, then screw it. The new alarm has a configurable snooze, as well, which the stock alarm clock lacked.

Silent alarm?

My previous phone, Gear S2, had no speaker so the alarm was silent and just vibrated. This was ideal for when I work as an invigilator for exams where I have to tell the students to save their work very 20 minutes. My new Galaxy Watch alarm both vibrates and makes a sound which, clearly, is not a good thing in an exam room! Is there a way to turn the sound off or another app which I can use to set alarms? I have been using the Timer alarm but then I can only set one alarm at a time instead of setting all of them in one go.
Thanks for any help.
You can change alarm sound ( set it to mute in your case) and change vibration pattern when swiping to the left while editing your alarm. It's the next screen after the day repeat screen.
Thanks so much! I had never noticed that those settings existed but have changed to mute and all good now.
