Well I have been having some major wifi issues as off late. I have wiped and reinstalled various roms and nothing has seemed to fix. Right now I am running cm nightlies.
My wifi is EXTREMELY slow. At my house I get 12M/1M on my computer (which is wireless) and on my phone I can get anywhere from 500-2500kb down and from 0-750 up. When doing speedtests it freezes on both the upload and download and sometimes will not finish upload test and give me latency of 999.
I have used my wifi in various locations (home, work, hospital) with the same result: my 3g speeds are way better than my wifi.
What are some things that I can do to attempt to resolve this? If it matters my kernel is: 2.6.34.5-cyanogenmod.
Hi
I've had a weird issue crop up this morning. When I woke up I checked my phone like I usually do and I had data connection on 3G but when I opened the web browser its showing 'Web page not available' like it does when I have no connection.
Everything was working fine last night. I though maybe it was the cell tower as I had an issue a few weeks ago of terrible connection so waited till I got to work to try again. Same thing. Web pages not coming up. Now my apps seem to have limited access to the data and are half loading things up. I know data is being accessed somewhere as I have 3G Watchdog and I can see the amount of data used increasing yet cant get any of my web browsers to work.
This isn't only limited to 3G as I've just connected to the wifi at work and still have the same issue.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Oh and phone is rooted too if that makes any difference and I've not downloaded any new apps in the last couple days or updated any of them either :/
Noticed this a few days ago and it's continued to be a problem. When I am connected to 4G LTE, initially the speed is great! But if I leave the phone unattended for a while, eventually I lose the data connection. It still shows 4G at the top, but I can't do much online. For example if I run a speedtest, I get a ping from a server that is normal (40-70ms), but the transfer starts at around 200kb/s and then freezes and errors out. Airplane mode sometimes fixes this, but usually I have to reboot the phone. Anybody else notice this problem? I searched and found a few things relevant to the LTEvo but nothing for us. FWIW I am rooted.
So this is weird. My wife and I just picked up two brand new M9's from T-Mobile this afternoon.
We're able to connect to the wifi with our new phones without any trouble, but the wifi is sporadically slow. SpeedTest shows download speeds around 14.21 Mbps from the phone, but 64Mbps from my laptop for SpeedTest. Google services seem to go really slow:
Google Play application icons are slow to load
Google Now's initial setup hangs at a blue circle loading with gray background
Google Music takes a good 5 minutes of buffering to start playing a song
Browsing to google.com periodically times out in Chrome: "Google CHrome could not load the webpage because www.google.com took too long to respond."
I'm also noticing that despite connecting to wifi, there's still the 4G icon in the status bar - with my old M7, if you connected to Wifi, the 4G/2G indicator disappeared. Is this behavior normal for Sense 7?
EDIT: I've tried the following, and things seem like they may be a little better. I'm not sure which is the potential fix though:
Disable Power saver mode
Disable WiFi optimization
I grabbed a spare WiFi AP that is dual band, 5GHz seemed to go faster, but I'm not sure if that's because it's inherently faster than 2.4GHz
EDIT EDIT: Just kidding, I'm still having issues.
I don't know about the wifi going slow but the 4G icon will stay even if you're connected to wifi. I haven't had any problems with mine going slow on wifi and I have the T-Mobile version also
The weird part is that slowness is too broad... it almost seems like certain services are having issues. I could get to google on Wi-Fi and twitter would update, but Gmail, facebook, instagram, and hangouts wouldn't work.
Disconnecting from Wifi (and reverting to cellular data) "fixes" the issue.

Check to make sure in the advanced wifi settings that Wi-Fi frequency band is set to either auto or 5g. Usually the wifi will have the same name but the 5g will simply say "-5g" after the name. If you are connected to the 2.4g you will be slower. Here is a screenshot of my speedtests on the same network but different frequency.
5g= 209.53 down and 21.01 up
2.4g= 44.77 down and 21.13 up
both on my wifi just different frequency...
Rate this thread to express how you think the Google Pixel's Wifi performs. A higher rating indicates that it has excellent range, throughput, and signal strength. Like when you're taking a dump in the bedroom upstairs, do your videos have to buffer or do they come through without interruption?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Haven't done any real speed tests of the wifi on my Pixel, but I came here to ask who dumps in their bedroom? Not judging...just eww...

I'm with you there. Mine hasn't even arrived. But I don't dump in my bedroom with my 5X.... Why would I dump in there cause I have a pixel? Lol!
No issues with WiFi range that I've found.
By far the worst WiFi experience I've had on any smartphone to date. Be it at home, work, friend's house, or any other place with WiFi, my Google Pixel phone's internet connection keeps going dead even though the phone says it's still connected. This problem manifests itself in downloads that never finish and get stuck indefinitely until I have to manually turn off WiFi, let the download happen over LTE. This happens with video downloads (In web browser, on Youtube app, Facebook app, etc.), with app downloads/updates from the Play Store, and other downloads.
It's a frustrating frequently recurring problem that happens on a daily basis, and I haven't found a solution to it yet.

Try to turn of LTE data while using WiFi , that fixed it for me, I noticed the issue early days I got the pixel since then I just turn of LTE data and it works normally.

Thanks, will try that and see how it works, though it's a bummer as I'm actually getting real good speeds on just LTE and I'm contemplating just using that and keeping WiFi off.

Isn't LTE turned off automatically when connected to WIFI? How do you switch it off?
What I see on my Pixel WIFI is that it always needs a second or two to start receiving data. Where my Laptop immediately starts downloading data when clicking on a e.g. link, my Pixel always needs a short time.

It should be, but what I actually noticed is once WiFi gets weak signal it switches to LTE for better connection, that's my experience with so now I just keep LTE turned off while using WiFi and the other way around when using LTE
No problems here. You guys might have a problem on your hands. Defective units?
I have excellent throughout and signal strength on my Pixel with my 802.11 AC router. Absolutely no problems in all areas in and around outside near my house.
Is there a way to speed up wifi polling? Say I turn off wifi and then turn it back on. The time it takes to find and reconnect to my wifi network takes a while. Is there a way to speed that up?
Wifi range is pretty bad compared my 2 year old OP2
My wife's pixel started ignoring or 5ghz wifi and then the bluetooth crapped out and then the 2.4ghz wifi started dropping at about 10 ft from the router... I just did a RMA with Verizon and got a Google version as a referb... other than that signals are on par with any other phone I have besides motorola, they have the best connection in my opinion
wifi sucks on this phone compared to my v20.

Meeeh I see I'm not the only one who has problems with wifi >.<

Do you guys talking about the connectivity issues think it's due to the build materials? I notice WiFi on my 5x seems to hold signal better , though I can get ac on my pixel(wifi speed is greatly different but only because of ability to connect to a. Signal on 5x seems to hold longer and farther.)
