Currently rooted with stock rom and CWM recovery. My note only stay connected to the dongle for 10 seconds, then diconnects. Has anyone been able to connect to the allshare cast? Does anyone have a suggestion? My rooted S4 connects.
I don't have the answer to that but this belongs in Q&A

The only way I've been able to get allshare cast working on this device (after custom flashing) is
1) run chainfires triangle-away successfully (for this I need civatos kernel, my original stock kernel isn't compatable)
2) dd my stock kernel and stock recovery back on to the device
3) reboot
Its as though a check is made that flash counter is zero and kernel and recovery is signed stock. Having a custom system (I'm using civato's reflex) doesn't seem to be checked.
Obviously, this is quite a painful process.

Thanks for the reply...I may try this but sounds like you back to stock recovery which I really dont want to do. Once again thanks for the info and I may try to flash back to stock. I tried the triangle-away on stock rooted and CWM recovery, no dice like you said. I will thank about it and until I do that the S4 is working with the Allshare good.

To unroot the phone what I usually do is after running the triangle away app, I do a complete wipe(all wipes on the phone from recovery) and flash the Stock ROM from the computer using Desktop Odin.
I was wondering what happens, if I have a stock unrooted phone, and I try flashing a custom ROM using desktop Odin?? WIll it work anyways or possibly brick the phone(or wont allow me to flash at all)?
The reason I ask is every thread talk abt flashing custom ROM's using custom recovery or mobile odin after rooting the phone.
Thanks
I also have a question I tryed to update my software on captivate glide att but I rooted my phone so I could not. Anyway I messed some things up reset the phone then I went to re install several apps and now my phone says device isn't compatible with this version when I just tryed to install from back up and it faild so I tryed from the market place and kept getting that error. Idk what to do.

Odin flashes TAR files, not ZIP files. You should only need Odin to flash stock.
You shouldn't need Triangle Away if you rooted following the instructions that can be found on these boards.
From what I understand, you cannot flash a custom rom without having CWM installed.
I could be wrong... I flashed Blazin ROM to my phone yesterday but then reverted back to
the backup (Nandroid) I had made prior. Playstore wouldn't work and I can't figure out what
gapps I need to get it going.
I agree with the guys above. In order to flash custom ROMs you'll need CWM installed to do so. Once you boot into recovery it should take you to CWM. From there, you can flash the zip files only.
Has anyone else had this problem with the screen freezing? It seems like manufacturing defect, but I'm not certain.

Looks like warranty claim
If u still got it
You have to hold them and not just tap them. Hold vol. down and power until you come into the download mode, or, vol. up and power until you get to the odin screen and reflash the rom you were using/wanting to use. I thought mine locked up. But, holding it seemed to fix the problem.
i have exactly the same problem, flash Stock ICS via odin with oneclick, the problem was fixed with that, but, there will be another problem, you cant root, if you flash a CWM the problem will be back when you enter in CWM. maybe a ICS rom rooted via odin can be the better solution but still i dont see any Rooted ICS via odin.
PD: I see that the problem is more common in rogers version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831561 that was the rom that i use. i hope someone can help with that freeze problem, because works perfect under ICS (one week and no problem) so i dont think that the problem is hardware

But, your phone has that problem (the screen freeze like the video)?, the only thing that i dont flashed of what you did was i927R-boot-ardatdat-AA.img.tar -odin (i dont know what is that) but, OneClick replace everything, so, if you installed the recovery before oneclick, then the recovery become the stock one.

Now that you have CWM, you can flash any rom. download the rom to your external_sd folder and you can go into CWM recovery mode and flash any .zip rom from GB -> ICS -> JB as long as it's CWM flash-able. I'm currently running stock waiting on the CM10 JB in the Dev forms to get fixed with the physical keyboard. I was thinking of using Inception, but didn't want to downgrade after it took me so long to get ICS working.
I'm glad I could help you out *first person I ever helped *

Thanks again
I have a similar problem. But as similar as these problems are they all have their own amounts of salt and pepper..
So as for the ROMs I can flash it seems that I can't flash any except for ones that are of the latest baseband (UCLJ3) or later..
The GB that came with it never worked..
And CWMR doesn't work for me. So I have to use Team Win. But the problem with TWR is that it won't flash certain things. Like the tethering fix and Navigation Bar mod. So I'm kinda stuck here..

Hey guys I was recently trying to flash back to stock so that i could carrier unlock my device, but when I was trying to flash using cwm, I kept getting status 7 error, so I read up on that and learned that cwm doesn't like certain roms.
After reading that, I used twrp, which allowed the rom to flash.
Now's where it gets bad..
the rom was booting fine, until i realized it was stuck at the boot animation for about 10 minutes.
I went back to the thread and asked how long it should take on first boot, they said 4 mintues...
I can't get back into recovery mode.. (actually i could never get into recovery mode using hardware bottons, i had to use apps such as ROM Manager)
I'm trying to use odin to flash recovery img, but no dice..
Can someone please tell me what I should do?
You can't go back to stock through recovery. You have to flash the stock image through Odin.

It was a custom touchwiz rom. I thought that was possible.
Could I flash stock through odin in my current situation?
Fash the latest frimware using Odin
Can you get your phone into Download mode? Power whitle holding volume down, if you can then flash CWMR using odin
Download CWMR touch or non touch from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2405433
Doing this help me skip some odin errors from previous failed attempts to flash stock frimwares (I don't know if you're having the same problem)
If you successfully flash CWMrecovery, you should be able to flash official 4.3 firmware(T-Mobile) and put your phone back to stock.
create an account with sam mobile for faster download this download can take 1-4 hours SamMobile was like 20 minutes for me, this is the link for the latest frimware for
(T-mobile SGH-M919 !!! ONLY !!! ) http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=22280
If you can get your phone back to stock this is my advice to you: root your phone right-away so you can reset your flash counter using triangle away.
I suggest the following rooting method is safe, it worked for me and did not affect my flash counter
Safe root --> http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2013/12/Safe-Root-Android-4.3-Galaxy-S3-S4-Note-No-Warranty-Void.html
use triangle away to reset your flash counter to Zero

Thank you for your information, I've solved my problem by getting back into twrp! thanks! hopefully this thread will help someone out in the future
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 AT&T and for about a year and a half always wanted to root it but had no idea how. I had an iPhone a while back and used to jailbreak it I became an expert at it. Rooting is not so easy compared at least with the problems I've been experiencing
I started by watching hundreds of root videos and ended up rooting it with Odin and Kit Kat tar file im not sure of the specific file but I'm almost 100% it was my version 4.4.2 that I flashed.
After I did this I downloaded the basics and tried to get TWRP but gooManager wasnt working for some reason.
I tried to flash the Cyanongen 11 onto my phone using the installer for the comp and on google play store and it worked up until the end I got the dead droid symbol for a bit and it finished downloading to show the "ROM may flash stock recover on boot. Fix?" error message and I selected no and "Root Access Possibly Lost Fix?" I also selected no. My phone booted with no custom rom still rooted and most of my apps are unresponsive and close randomly except facebook and youtube.
I decided I wanted to return it to stock rom and try again but when I downloaded the stock tar file and tried to flash it I got this
I'm not sure what to do because I cant return it to stock rom, clockmod recovery has stopped working, and every video I watch about how to fix it is only making it worse.
If you have any idea what I can do or what I'm doing wrong let me know.
Odin failed because you cannot flash older firmware. Your best bet is to reflash recovery via Odin, then if you want stock go to enewman17's stock rom/system dump thread in development and flash the rom and factory reset.

If Kies is on your computer, remove it. Have you tried reinstalling drivers?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
Hi everyone,
I'm on COG5, rooted stock ROM. I've been using it fine for weeks and today I had to restart my phone. It just went into a boot loop instead of restarting.
I've restarted into TRWP and did a factory restore, but still boot loop.
I grabbed the COG5 TAR and tried to use ODIN to flash the unrooted version. However, now ODIN won't recognize my phone when I'm in download mode. For some reason it sees the phone when the phone is connected but powered off. Once I try to turn it on in download mode, everything just seems to disconnect. So I can't get it to flash the TAR. I've tried this on ODIN 3.10 and 3.07.
Is there anything else I can try? Am I doing something wrong in ODIN?
Try flashing Beastmode kernel in recovery with a cache and dalvik wipe.
If that doesn't work, Odin once worked on that PC for TWRP, right? Have you verified your Samsung driver? Uninstall and reinstall it?
Have you tried KIES to recover it?
Some PC's setup the driver incorrectly. Mine had the same issue on Windows 8.1 Pro. Read this thread OP and pay particular attention to post 14. It helped my PC see my phone in recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34864154&postcount=14
May actually help KIES to recover your phone.
The boot loop is concerning, did you recently swap a kernel or flash something in recovery like a ROM from an older Android release? Any kernel flashed on OG5 rooted should have the kernel exploit like Beastmode has.
Sent from my SM-N910P using Tapatalk
It is a new PC I'm working on (actually same PC, but upgraded to Win10). So I had to redo all drivers, Kies, Odin download.
But since I was still able to boot to TRWP, I just grabbed an OG5 ROM and flashed it. Everything worked, and thank goodness for my Titanium backups I was up and running with almost all my settings and stuff.
Thanks for replying though!
edit: regarding boot loop, I don't think I've needed to reboot in awhile and haven't changed anything recently. The phone needed to reboot after my kids played with it and somehow opened Adaway and in the end Adaway said a reboot was necessary. After said reboot, it was bootloop. I am running several mods in place of Xposed, so who knows if something crossed at some point.
Glad to hear you got your phone back up and running. The reason download mode wouldn't flash the stock OG5 rom onto your phone was because of the kernel currently detected.
For future reference, when using odin to restore your phone with the official OG5 tar, it looks for the stock unrooted kernel. I "think" freeza's stock root permissive "beastmode" kernel will let odin do it's thing but if not then you would need to flash a pure stock OG5 kernel and that would do the trick. I'm not sure but I think somebody made a flashable zip for the stock unrooted OG5 kernel. I may have also... I can't remember. LOL. Anyway if you have this problem again in the future keep this in mind.

If your phone is updated to OG5 or later, all you need to do in order to root and flash OBAR3 ROM is Odin TWRP recovery in download mode with auto reboot option unchecked. Wait for success...0 failed and pull USB and battery and boot to recovery and follow OBAR3 install directions.
