Maybe trimming the rom before flashing it

or simply moving large apps to SD...
It's a shame though Inspire 4G has 4GB ROM, while DHD - 4 times less.

[Q] Gingerbread 2.3.3 + App2SD/Data2SD

Hello dear friends. First of all - please excuse me for maybe the stupid questin i'm going to ask I want to say that i searh for this issue all day and i still can't find a satisfying answer
So lets start - I bought HTC Desire 2-3 weeks ago and of course i began modifying it I've tried tons of custom ROMS & stuff like this and i get to a final conclusion - the official HTC Gingerbread update 2.3.3 for the Desire is the best and i just dont want to change it It's simply the fastest one, without significant bugs and so on. The only problem is that i can't find a way to make my internal storage bigger I managed to do this with a custom ROM, but all of the ROMS were either laggy or with some major bugs that i don't like. So my question is:
IS THERE A WAY TO MAKE MY INTERNAL STORAGE BIGGER AND STILL USE THE OFFICIAL HTC GINGERBREAD 2.3.3 UPDATE
Thanks in advance for helping guys
One word- Supernova
Sent from my Desire running Supernova Extreme - Gingerbread goodness with Unlimited Internal memory
I just don't want custom ROMS buddy I've tried the Supernova, and i got some problems with the mobile connection... I reall want an official ROM with just more internal space
Well then you can do these steps:
Install ext4 support
Install init.d support
Install Busybox
Modify your kernel to add init.d and busybox runparts
Finally add a2sd or data2sd yourself
Each step has its own seperate thread on Xda. You can search and find it
Have been using supernova for a week or so now. Not had any issues and my apps run fine on Sandisk 8 gig class 4 with 1 gig EXT4 partition. Now with all my apps etc installed i have 839 meg free space for more apps. I don't think the Desire will get any more OTA updates as 2.3.3 was only available via download and came with several disclaimers.
Try Link2SD, only need is second partition.

perhaps this could work?

Supernova is good -> 'Unlimited space'.
Droidzone and Sibere have released a new DATA2SD script which is fast and stable.
also good support!
Best Rom for Desire.

First supernova is laggy + you dont need DATA2SD on 2.3. The a2sd is already enough....

Stock A2sd is useless.. Only a moderate amount of apps causes low space issues. Do you mean a2sd+ ??

Can Supernova be installed using Rom Manager?
edit: Doesn't look like Supernova will work for me, my Desire is CDMA.
Never user ROM Manager! It's a horrible software which causes more problems than it solves.
Just flash roms from recovery.

The stock feature with witch one can move apps to is called "Apps2SD". The apps can moved to FAT32 partition if the dev programmed the app for this.
The script which moves automatically moves apps to SD is called "A2SD / A2SD+". A2SD if you use this feature only for apps, A2SD+ if you also move dalvik-cache to SD. The partition is here.an EXT one. Furthermore, it doesn't matter if the dev programmed the app for this or not.
@OP:
Try oxygen ROM with the script which moves dalvik cache to EXT partition if you don't want to go S-OFF and flash oxygen hboot.

[JB][ICS] CRON-o-GENMOD9 / CronMod CM10: General Thread

General thread for the JB CM10/AOSP based rom by cronmod dev team here and the ICS CM9 based rom here.
Check the respective rom sites for a what's working/not working list, features and download links. Discuss general things about the rom here such as a2sd scripts and any issues
As requested by the dev for the ICS rom:
What's NOT working?
Code:
[LIST]
[*]Camera force closes while recording video
[*]Hardware decoding for video playback -> laggy playback of 720p (use software decoding in Mx Player instead).
[*]Home/Search key (use the fix over [URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34075493&postcount=131"]here[/URL])
[/LIST]
Anything that isn't said there is working fine. Will update the list if others find anything that doesn't work. Before asking for help do check you have the right hboot and that the md5 is correct after you download the rom. Also make sure you perform a full wipe when migrating to these roms.
Bear in mind that ICS was not made for our devices. Do not expect the stability of GB but the devs have done a great job on this and it is quite stable and quick for daily use.
Installation for CM9 ICS rom:
Code:
[U]Full wipe recommended before each flash from new version and is NEEDED if coming from any other rom.[/U]
Partition SD card so you have less than 1.5gb in sd-ext partition and the rest as FAT32. Gparted is recommended.
Flash the rom from recovery.
Grab m2sd from [URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342387"]here[/URL] (credit to dk_zero-cool) and flash it from recovery using whatever options you want (recommended by to choose apps and dalvik).
Wipe cache/dalvik and reboot :)
You can use cron's INT2EXT scripts as well from here and just flash in place of m2sd.
Feel free to ask any questions here but keep the dev threads on topic.
Anyone using the JB rom if you could post a not working list from your tests that'd be great .
Since corey moved on to JB the cron r2 hboot isn't available on the website anymore. The current version of the ICS cronmod rom still fits on to the 183mb system hboot so I thought to put this up here for those that want a bit more space in data
WARNING: The size of the system partition may increase in future so the hboot might not be compatible with future versions of cronmod cm9.
Check md5 before flashing and flash through fastboot using "fastboot flash hboot filepathAndName.img"

Its quite usable as a daily rom. At least I use it daily. But don't expect the level of stability like gingerbread. I mean, The kernel is still under improvement. Best way is to use it for a few days and judge yourself.

Hello,
I flashed this ICS rom just before Yasir took over and I must say I'm happy with it.
It is a bit slower than my previous CM7 rom of course but nothing dramatic, and it somehow seems more stable for some reason (GPS works, for example!).
And I still get a quite big amount of space on data thanks to the cron r2 hboot, which is great!
And I also love the CM9 tweaks.
So overall a good surprise for my first jump from CM7 roms.
But I tested Chrome and discovered it is so laggy it is unusable. Do you guys have the same issue?

The rom itself is amazingly quick and stable. Considering it's ICS I'd say it's the best ICS rom out right now. Haven't tried CronMod JB though.

I don't need video recording myself so I wouldn't know. But any camera app should work. I've heard good things about ICS Camera on market. Very close to stock camera app as well.
I'm going to be linking my friend this ROM soon-ish (once beta comes out) and she's using a BravoC on Ntelos. What kind of prep would she need to do on the phone before flashing the ROM? Like a wipe script or something to repartition or what? Want it to go as smooth as possible.

I tried it and sadly it crashes like the stock app.
Anyone knows of a working camera app that can record video with a working preview?

I suggest you to use INT2EXT+ with this ROM, take a look HERE.
I noticed that when i install a new app (from the market or an .apk), the system hangs for a while, sometimes it even pop with a system error, but if i select to wait the system then starts to work again, i have installed INT2EXT+ script with a 512 sd-ext partition on a Class 4 8 GB SD card. Could the low SD class can cause this problem? SD read cache is correctly set at 2 MB.
Could you amswer me whats working and whats not working in your cm9 rom? Cant find it

You mean swapping Internal and External SD?
You can do that without having to use any mods in CM9, I believe the same feature exists in CM10.
Goto Settings > Storage, tap menukey, choose Storage Configuration, check Internal Storage.
EDIT: Okay, just read about CM10. It appears that the feature has been removed. My suggestion? Go back to ICS. Not only is JB for W still in Alpha stage, but the fact is that there are lots of apps that doesn't run properly on JB.

If you really want to use cm10 with swap just go back to the Q&A section for our phone, i just answered one that has the same question but with AOKP ROM. Don't worry the manual way works on every ROM.

[Q] SD EXT question

Hey everybody,
which script is best for app2sd,cuz i am noob about the app2sd scripts(such as S2E,link2sd,init2ext etc).so which one is best script which is best, fluid and supported all OS roms(ICS,JB and GB etc) and mostly stable.which one it is?
Link2sd is good, fast and stable.
But some roms dont support it...
Sent from my GT-S5660 using xda app-developers app
so what about S2E ?
I heard somewhere that s2e is better than link2sd
S2E is really good as it moves everything in your sdext but on heavy ROM makes them really slow (on CM7 works fine, have to see on AOSP ICS and lightweight CM9/10/10.1).
Link2SD moves not so much on sdext but is faster than S2E.
Else int2ext(+) that 'swaps' internal data partition with sdext... it's in the middle for space saving and performance.

well.I was thinking like that
Link2sd - faster than s2e and supported all OS roms
S2E - gives more storage than link2sd but only for AOSP/CM7/9/10.1 roms
Int2ext - give performance than link2sd and s2e
am i right?

Yeah.
But, over all I choose for Link2SD. Specially because it works on all my devices on different ROMs and versions... It also has the capability to select the normal SD-card as storage for your apps. But, some apps won't work with that. Specially the ones with widgets.
