So as silly as it seems earlier yesterday I fell into a little lake with my note 2 in hand. It went under for about 2 seconds but I managed to get it out quickly. Afterwards I noticed my speakers sounded very very muffled! That same night it dried and sounded normal. Do I have anything to worry about as a long term affect?

probably dried minerals corroding your motherboard. I never tried it but i heard removing the motherboard and cleaning it with 70% isopropyl alcohol will clean off any residue
Bro you dunked it and then didn't take the battery out immediately?
Yeah my advice, cross your fingers.

It wasnt deep enough to were i got any minerals..that were visible. It was more of falling in the shallow side and water shooting into my speakers lol

You wont be able to see them. They are dissolved in the water and deposit after the it evaporates. If the water got in, the stuff in the water is still there.

To get the water out, u should open up the phone as much as u can, and put it in the dish warmer of ur oven. Obviously a high enough temp to evaporate the water but low enough not to damage ur phone. Temp wise id say 70°F. Leave it in there for around an hour or two.

The above poster who suggested the rice has the right idea. Leave it in a ziplock bag with rice for a day or two. The rice will absorb the excess moisture. The speakers, if you're hearing crackling, you might have damaged the voice coil. If that happens, you're SOL. (And if you do the rice trick, of course, remove the battery first.) If it's not the voice coil of the speaker, then moisture could've damaged the diaphragm. (This is most likely the case, becuase is most instances when the voice coil is damaged you won't get any sound at all.)
Either way, try the rice, just because the device feels dry doesn't mean that it is fully. If that doesn't work, then you're probably out of luck. On a lighter note, it's actually kind of interesting that nothing else got damaged except the speaker. That shows pretty decent build quality imho.
I would not put it in the oven. You have more of a chance of warping some of the wafer-thing components in here than you do fixing anything by doing it with that method.

So some small water made it's way through the front of the screen and possibly slid down the bottom somehow. While I haven't give it the raw rice treatment, I have dried it out with a hot air from a PC dust blower I had around. Everything seems to be working fine except for this. I can plug in my headphones to hear music. I can still hear the notifications and phone ringing, but music will not play at all. Anyone have any ideas? Does the phone have to speakers I don't know of?
Edit seems like the head piece isn't working either. Cuts in and out.
I would go ahead and put it in rice for a few days.

Few days? I'm not talking about soaking wet here, I'm talking about maybe 3-10 teaspoons of water. But if you think so, then so be it.

Short answer is no. It is however easy to taint the water if not in a closed loop. This also assumes there is no aluminum and copper mixing.

My phone went 1 foot onto the sharp front seat rail in my car (I have long legs, so the seats are always all the way back.) It only ruined my screen protector. I was pleasantly surprised. It's impressive what a beating these phones can take.
Also, my phone tends to land screen up for some reason. maybe that's the reason nothing's broken yet and the OP's phone survived.

I fell in the pool once with wind breaker pants with zip up pockets and my phone zipped in. I had to swim to the ladder and my phone only had like 4 drops of water on it but it was practically waterproofed by my pants and the short time i was in the water. But another time I fell off the boat in salt water that was only knee deep and my phone fried just from the splash.

I agree. Ziplock bag works every time. I prefer the freezer bag variety as the plastic tends to be a little thicker and they have the double slide protection. The gallon size fits my asus transformer very well. I use it every time I go to the pool.

So now we got two confirmations. Maybe we can get LG to confirm it as well? Can someone record a video of it under running water or inside a pool? If this is true, this is an amazing news and should've been a feature called out by LG against Samsung.
Sent from my LG-D851 using XDA Free mobile app
There's a water damage sticker clearly present on the side of the battery area. I highly doubt they made it a hidden feature. It may do well to protect itself, but i still don't trust it in water until there's more evidence of it not being harmful.
Sent from my LG G3
I kinda like that they didn't mention it. People won't be idiots with their phones, but if something does go crashingly wrong there's protection in place. I really do wonder how many people have been downright stupid with their S5's because of commercials showing them being dropped in the ocean and whatnot.
My case keeps it waterproof, so I am good to go.... I think, lol!
I used mine in a rain storm the other day with no concern or issue. I've done that with all my phones, camera, tablets, etc though and never have had an issue in my life.
