[Q] Kindle fire first gen stuck on jellybean splash animation - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I apologize if this has been answered before, my kf is running jellybean 4.2.1, and now for some reason, when i boot it up, even after it has a complete charge, it boots to the splash screen and stays there. i plugged it into the computer, and when i open kfu(as an admin) it says
adb status: online
boot status: unknown
afterwards, i tried to boot it in normal via kfu, and it says "system cannot find the drive specified" then it goes on to say for 5 more times "system cannot find the path specified" be fore ending with "kindle has been told to reboot in normal mode", nothing happens on the kindle, and even at this very moment, is still stuck on the animated splash screen. the computer doesn't even recognize the kindle, and it was fine until now, what should be my next course of action? also, in order for me to charge the kf, i have to hold up the plug to the kindle with two stacked legos. could it be a faulty cable or input?

Try reflashing the rom using twrp as the os may be corrupted

[Q] KF only turns on if plugged in via usb or wall outlet?

I was on the Hellfire ROM, flashed the Energy ICS CM9 3.0 ROM. I figured why not try updating to firefirefire 1.4A and TWRP 2.1.1 just to have everything new. Something went wrong during all this but I dont know what, so I used Kindle Fire Utiility to go back to TWRP 2.0. I also used the Utility to flash firefirefire, I'm guessing it's the older version? Anyways here are some issues I'm experiencing.
- The only way to get my KF to turn on is by plugging it into my PC using a USB cord or plugging it into the wall. If I remove it from the wall or my PC it will not turn on even though recovery said my battery was full. Is this Kindle issue or ROM issue? Also, when I plug the KF into my PC it goes into recovery, cant seem to get it to boot up. If I plug it into the wall it'll boot up into the Energy ROM? Is there a way to start fresh, remove twrp, firefirefire, everything?
- As soon I plug my KF into my PC it turns on but I get this splash screen with the KindleFire logo and also a green Android logo right above it. I've never seen this screen before? This screen comes on for a quick second, my KF reboots, the same screen comes up again but this time the power button is orange. My old screen just use to be a yellow triangle saying "press power button for recovery". Now I don't have that screen anymore? Just confused on whats going on?
It amazes me how many people are willing to install things on their devices knowing nothing about them.
The first thing you need to do is read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23747567 Read the whole thing and don't skip a single line. It'll save you a lot of time and energy in the future.
Then Google search "Kindle Fire software update", it's on the Amazon website.
Download the file to your computer and change the file extension from ".bin" to ".zip"
Push it to your sdcard using adb or in twrp by mounting your sdcard
Flash the update.zip in twrp
Reboot
Start all over again with a new found knowledge of how the Kindle Fire works.

I bricked my KF GOOOOD this time

I have had a Kindle Fire since they day they came out. I immediately disliked the stock Rom so I ran the kindle fire utility and installed Fire Fire Fire and TWRP, rooted it, and installed CM7 Rom which has been working great. Transferred files and programs between my PC and Kindle with no issue for months. Now with all the ICS roms available and working I decided to try and upgrade to one of those and thats when everything went wrong. Its in a bootloop and the triangle appears, fades, lights up again and immediately boots to TWRP. I have flashed the entire kindle using TWRP trying to get everything off of it. Upon plugging it into my PC BRIEFLY when the triangle logo pops up I get a "USB device not recognized" on my PC. I have tried using KFUtility to reinstall drivers, tried uninstalling n reinstalling drivers but the same thing happens. I cannot use TWRP to mount at all, nothing happens. Kindle Fire UTility keeps saying adb offline, CMD adb devices also results in 0 devices found. I have tried putting it on normal boot using both ADB and KFUtility and it says "wait for device" and nothing ever happens. Any idea? Not even sure if I have a rom installed on my kindle anymore but my PC wontread it so I cannot push another image to it. Got a plane trip on Saturday and would love to have this working to kill the bordom lol. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
It sounds like your bootmode is set to recovery. An easy way to fix this is download FFF1.4 to your computer and use the mount function in recovery to place it on your sdcard.
Flash it in recovery as you would a rom except don't wipe anything. When you reboot, hold the power button like you're trying to enter recovery and you'll be given the option to reset the bootmode.
Thank you so much for your advice but there in lies the problem. Inside the recovery console i choose to mount it and nothing happens. My PC will not let me access the kindle in anyway at all, either mounting the SD Card or via ADB/KFUtility.

Generally, the only thing that would prevent adb/kfu from communicating with the device is the drivers. Make sure they're installed properly. You may have to uninstall them (delete if applicable) and reinstall them.
Follow the instructions in this guide to install and verify your drivers.

K heres the latest (we r making progress!)
I got my device to be detected by my PC and used KFutility to change it to normal boot. Now instead of booting into recovery everytime it boots normally.... to a black screen (guessing my rom is shot or I deleted it while playing with it). The issue is the ONLY time my PC recognizes my kindle is for a .5 second period when i first turn my KF on and the yellow triangle appears. I can use this window to change it to normal bootmode, reinstall TeamWin, stuff like that, but i cannot mount it so I can transfer or adb so I can push. You can watch device manager and it'll pop up ADB android phone or whatever it should but poof, a second later gone.

Get your device drivers working so you can use adb. Follow the instructions in the post below...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26144447
That is excellent advice and I wish it would work but I cannot pull up ADB once in TeamWin. Keeps saying no devices. As i said my PC detects it and ADB will detect it for .5 seconds on the orange triangle. Once the orange triangle disappears and it either boots to blackness or boots to TeamWin ADB stops recognizing my device. But I will play around with your suggestions once I get off work and let you know what i find out. Thanks again for everyones support.
Frozen screen during rooting
Hi,
I am new to the forum. I have a kF screen stuck (where it says 'kindle fire') while I was trying to root it. I tried hard reset, charging for half hour, calling AMAZON...nothing works. The screen goes off if I hold it for 20 seconds but when I put it back on same thing. I was trying to root it with 'fastboot (?). Is there anything at all I can do? Thanks.

[Q] stucked Fire2. fastboot possible, but nothing else

Hello,
i got a kindle fire 2 here, but it is stucked on the Bootlogo. it was tried to install a custom rom by a friend of mine, so i cant tell, which method he tried or on what command it failed. a backup isn't available.
anyway, i got a fastboot cable here, which my friend didn't had.
when i plug it, it start into fastboot mode an show me a flashing green traffic light. the windows device manager shows me the "Kindle Fire -> Android Composite ADB Interface" (as seen in the attachment)
the "fastboot devices -i 0x1949" command shows me a "0E6... fastboot" line.
i tried to fix it with commands from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100963
ended up, that the blue kindle logo doesn't show up. instead its now stucked in a bootloop. the logo disappers any few seconds and it seems, the device is restarting every time.
now i have no idea anymore, how to go on. tried to use the kindlefireutility2, but after i run it, it closes immediately or just shows "Initializing..."
also the FirstAide64 will not work. when i select "Completly Restore KF2 - fastboot" it shows up an Error Message "The system can not find the specified path..."
adb commands are not usable during fastboot, right? because the adb devices list is empty every time.
hopefully someone can give me a hint, what else i can try.
regards
arthur

So you have followed Steps 3 and 4?
Just below that is a method to flash back to stock, have you tried that, as the stock files are there as well?

I was having the same problem, i just booted and suddenly turned off. It was on the stock rom , so I used a factory cable and installed fff 1.4 then installed the twrp 2.5 from their site but I'm not able to get it into recovery, just an amber light and it turns off!! I'm wondering if is not compatible, I tried the otter and blaze twrp just to make sure...
What do you think? Did you managed to fix it?

i wanted to get the restoration tool from here, but the file is not availible anymore. anyway, the device didn't received the adb commands.
i tried to flash the original stock rom back, just by using files from amazon. i don't know what happend, but after "fastboot bootloader" command the Kindle is dead. No more LED light while charging, no reaction on fastboot cable
first i thought, the battery is empty, but after one night on the charger, nothing changed. the device stays complete black.
Any chances left (even at amazon?) or is the garbage the only place this kindle belongs now?
Well Arthur, if you have not opened it should not be dead, it seems like you are on a boot loop and maybe the battery is fully discharged.
Please explain how did you tried to install the Amazon stock ROM
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
well, my first thoughts were also, that the battery is discharged. but i used next to my computer already an ipad charger and my phone-charger (both over 1A out) over night. but still no lightning of the LED.
last thing i remember, was a (afterwards clearly) stupid hint from a ebay page. [fastboot -i 0x1949 flash bootloader u-boot.bin] i used the u-boot.bin from the amazon homepage.
afterwards the kindle shut down and the lightning LED has never been seen again
Your KF will not charge if bricked, you could try a factory cable to get it into fastboot mode but if it is discharged maybe you must try another method to charge the battery... First try the factory cable!!
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
i tried with a factory cable, but again, no response from the device. As I mentioned, I tried already several charger.
And what do you mean by another charging method? Is there something i don't know yet ?

KF1 Possible boot load corruption?

Well I have fooled around with this Kindle Fire for awhile and seem to be at a road block.
It is my wife's who stated she left it alone for a week or two, came back to turn it on and it locks up at the stock KF logo screen.
From what I have gathered that means the OS is toast.
Tried to get the KFU tool to work untill I found out that it needs to be forced into 'fastboot' to receive commands. So I built a debug cable and forced it. I then ran KFU to install twrp, said it installed and was rebooting. I had to force reboot the KF and then ran a KFU perm root script, rebooted.
Now I get to the white/blue kf logo and boot options for twrp, yet when it boots it hangs on the Teamwin logo screen.
Is this a boot loader malfunction that will require the shorting method to force USB rom loading? Or am I just missing something like a regular noob?
Thanks

First off, have you considered installing TWRP manually? You may want to check the md5 of the recovery.img before installing though.

[SOLVED] Cyanogenmod Boot Loop, Can't Access TWRP

Hi! Yesterday I rooted my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 with no problems. The problems came after I installed TWRP before installing Cyanogenmod and GApps. Long story short, I got those on there eventually, and when I rebooted my Kindle, it showed the Cyanogenmod splashscreen/ animation, so I thought everything went well. After about, probably, 8 minutes it flashed the Android lock screen, but that's it. So I turned it off, then on again. Now, when I turn it on, first it shows the regular "Kindle Fire" logo with "Fire" being in orange, and then changing to blue, then it just loops showing the Cyanogenmod animation, then flashing the Android lock screen for a split second, then repeating that from the Cyanogenmod animation. I can't get into TWRP when I press the volume up key IMMEDIATELY after I turn the Kindle on. But, I can get it into Fastboot mode, except anytime I do a command, it'll either say "error: device not found", or something like, or it'll say "List of devices connected" followed by the serial number, and next to that "offline". If anyone could help me with this, it would be GREATLY appreciated.
Or, is there a way to completely reset it? At this point, I honestly don't care if I end up with the Amazon OS again, I just want my Kindle back
Anything? I just want to be able to use my Kindle again... At this point I'd rather it have a full factory reset, and just start fresh, as if none of this happened, and leave it that way... :crying:

Are you taking care to include the "-i 0x1949" parameter in your fastboot commands? That's one of the things I would think is preventing the kindle from being recognized. Also, try downloading and installing the Kindle ADB drivers.

Thank you! I eventually got it fixed. Now it's just looping the regular "Kindle Fire" logo in orange :/ but I'm working on getting it back to normal.
