This is a really strange issue that has happened so far with 3 earphones so far. After some time, the left side has a bit of more volume and a huge lot more of bass, this never happened with the original sonyericsson earphone, but my cat broke it.
So, is it possible that my 3.5mm jack is damaging one of the sides of every earphone I connect? This is personally annoying for me beacuse I want a centered bass as always.
I use poweramp, latest version... I think it's a problem with my phone because when I buy the earphones and use them with the PC, it's okay, then I use and use a lot them on my phone until the problem occurs, then I try them again on the PC and yes, they are damaged.
Help? I won't keep spending money on earphones!
It's driving me crazy.. today I will go to the mall and take the decision of buying a new pair of earphones or not to... Anyone?
Since you use poweramp, have you tried to balance it over to the right side?

Yes man but I end up with clear bass on the left earphone and a really low bit of vocals, and at the right side every vocal and rhythm...
Yeah even I am having this issue right side has low volume. Initially I thought my right ear was blocked

No, they're normal earphones since my cat broke the original Sony ones.
It's very difficult to know what exactly causing this hardware issue.
Me too hoping for a solution soon.

But if you try the SAME earphones on your PC or with another phone/device, do they sound properly or the left still sound more than the right?

I am using Sony original earphones which came in box along with the devices. It doesn't work properly if plugged in any other device or pc.
Well, weeks have passed and no problems at all with my new Maxwell headphones, so the phone wasn't faulty, thanks all.

The earphones I got with my phone used to be stupidly loud. Now they're crap. I know xloud was disabled but I thought that was for the speakers? I'm on stock everything.

I've just put a random pair of earphones in and they're much louder. Don't know what happened to my stock ones. I liked them as well. Lots of bass.

My old Sony silicone earbuds did the same thing, one speaker is even quieter than the other. It took a few years, but still, it sucks, since I much preferred them to the ones I replaced them with. Will be buying new ones again soon..

The only other ones I've got are the hard type, which hurt my ears. Not from the volume, plastic earphones just hurt my ears for some reason.

Remove the mesh cover on the headphone just where the music is comming out
that will make them alot louder
I might give that a go, got nothing to lose.

Would Sony send me some new ones?
Sent from my R800i using XDA
I sent an email to Sony asking how I could return them for a replacement. I got a reply apologising for my handset problem and to send it off in a jiffy bag.
" From the issues that you have described we would suggest that you that you send your handset to our service location to be examined by an authorised service engineer."

Sony really are useless. Send your handset in for an issue with headphones?
Just get some new headphones mate

Yes, but if your headphones have a mic built in, even if you never use it, you need the adapter for the headphone portion to work. You can tell these by the plug, which has 3 rings instead of two.

I have no idea where u can find the pinout for something like that but the fact that you can make one yourself is pretty awesome lol.
The R800i doesn't have the adapter for some reason.
If anyone loses the adapter rather than replacing it just buy psp headphones. I have my old psp headphones and when I tried them they worked fine

Is this normal?
And should I ask for a replacement?
Over the last 2 weeks I have heard loads of people (including myself) have this problem.
Not sure if its anything to worry about, and getting a replacement is not easy, they have to send it off to a repair centre as if it was a broken phone...

Known issue on these forums, search and you should find another thread about this issue, if it's annoying you contact your local Samsung and ask for a new one.

It's perfectly normal when stepping down the voltage - go and stand near a substation, now they're noisy.

Mine makes noise but only when the phone is near 100% charge. While it's charging it makes no noise. It's almost like a hissing/whining noise.
Hello,
I bought senheizer earphones to use with my s3. However it seems that the left side gives a reduced sound. I would not have not noticed but sometimes the sound in that ear piece increases. Hence I noticed. Also I checked my earphones with other sound output devices and have confirmed that the earphone are working fine.
I read somewhere that the 3.5 mm jack is an exact fit. Which might cause a connection issue. If that is correct can someone suggest a solution. If that's not the case is there a defect with my phone?
This same problem occurs less frequently with original Samsung earphones.
Thanks in advance.

I had the same issue with my OMX adidas sennheiser headphones and I was able to resolve the issue by purchasing an external control or an apple trrs to android trrs connector. Heres an article why there are problems...
http://tech.gluga.com/2011/03/earphones-with-integrated-mics-and.html
You can double check this issue by plugging in the Factory Headphones that came with the phone(TRRS) ( do not use apple headphones, or beats headphones, because apple uses a different wiring for TRRS Jacks).
heres some options for you. If you know how to solder, you can find diagrams with this link
http://tech.gluga.com/2011/03/earphones-with-integrated-mics-and.html
heres the cables you can buy to convert it
http://www.meelec.com/MEElectronic_TRRS_Adapter_for_P_Version_Headphones_p/adptr-trrs-35.htm
http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-5mm-Earphone-Adapter-Headphone-Nokia-N-Series-9977-/170482444368?
Also, you can check Radioshack or Best Buy. They sell an extension to add controls to any headset, which will convert your TRS to TRRS, if its an android compatible headset. Good Luck!

I'm using a pair sennheiser cx 280 which has a trs connection. oddly enough ive had the left sound come and go randomly. so far it doesnt seem to be a hardware issue because i will listen to pandora and might have the issue and then when I switch to google music it will work just fine or vice versa. no amount of wiggling or replugging can reproduce the issue so it leads me to believe there might be a software issue? or im just going crazy
Has anyone else noticed how weak of a connection the Jack gives? You can basically give it a flick or slight tap and it will discontinue play. That's one reason why I use Bluetooth so much does anyone else have this problem? Also the Jack gets dirty very easily as it is on top of the phone so when it's in ure pocket particles get in the Jack like lint.
Sure wish there was a solution when snowboarding I have to listen to my iPod as the xperia ion disconnects to much.
Do other phones use a similar Jack that I could put in the phone for better functionality? Anyways just spitballing here lol thanks in advance for any answers
