What he means is that you should look at the screenshots he posted. He's on TMobile-per his status bar and getting >11mb download speeds using Speedtest.

Now I'm confused. What exactly does that mean? You seemed not to understand what he was saying and I was trying to clear things up.

Thats weird. Even though you're getting LTE your speed seems lower than HSPA+. I seen other tmobiles lte devices like the note 2 and it gets over 25mb download speed

No. But it's a good speed.
You can check by going into settings, about phone, status and see what network type says.

Example
Correct. Not LTE, but fair speed for H+, arguably slightly faster than the typical 3G. You're getting the speed I used to get when I was on my SGSII (non-skyrocket) until I upgraded to the SGN2 with LTE here in San Diego.
Thanks. Its says im running LTE:14. So I guess the question now is why am I not getting lte speeds!?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Just ran another test, slightly faster speeds but you can see in the status bar it says 4g instead of h+.
Im running jellythunder perfect storm..which I thought h+ meant lte.
Ideas?

Ok. Than u are getting LTE. The rom u have just isn't showing show in your status bar.
Did u flash an international theme or something that may have caused this?

4G=LTE
H, H+ = HSPA (3.5G)
3G = UMTS
This means that when you are in LTE you won't see the LTE symbol but instead 4G.
Depending on the rom u are using of course. In order verify that your ROM is actually using LTE go System Settings --> About Device --> Status. Look under Mobile Network Type.

I am in a lte area and my status bar now says 4g which means lte. What are normal lte speeds? My last post was the speed test on the lte...that normal?
Thanks again!

LTE = faux G as far as I am concerned.
AT&T is still on 3G .. its just 3G+. According to what I have read, LTE (and WiMax) was originally a "transitional technology." Then it was upped to 4G and HSPA+ is now a a transitional tech. Then some1 dumped a lot of money into an offshore account and transitional tech is 4G.
Cue the nerd rage at this point.
LTE Advanced (as well as WiMax v2 or whatever they were going to call it.) are 4G. These are some way away. With big V saying LTE deployment going into 2015, one could guess we won't see "pure" 4G until almost 2020.
Edit: LTE is 100Mb/s down AND up. LTE adv is basically gigabit. As far as the original spec, 4G = gigabit. So .. we aren't quite there yet.

Well, the symbol at the top left says H+. So, no that not LTE, if it where it would say 4G.
But if its an international port than it says 4g, jedi states so in first post

haha .. nothing like downloading (theoretically) a DVD iso in under a minute.
I'd rather have the lower ping time and the lower bandwidth connection than the higher ping time and larger bandwidth connection.
The fact that your ping is so low makes me believe that you might be on LTE. But it could be an excellent 3G connection or whatever ATT likes to call it to make themselves feel superior. I've seen speeds that low however for LTE when the signal isn't very strong.

Is the AT&T Note 2's "Radio Chipset" capable of 42mbps?

Is it?
Saw this on another thread.

Looks like AT&T's LTE. But can an AT&T Note 2 work on T-Mobile's 42mbps data connection? T-Mobile doesn't have LTE, yet.

In other words you're wondering if it's like the skyrocket, which the radio supported LTE but also had dual channel HSPA (21x2, hence your 42Mbps). All you had to do was switch modems...
Would be interesting to actually know... On way to a wake, don't feel like looking it up now...

Im on At&t im stock and I got that top result in an lte area. *edit*Misunderstood your question. Im on Att with an att note 2.

Is it me or are those speedtest screens kind of weak speed wise? Sure the upload speed is way fast, but I get 30Mbps download on the h+ which is what they are saying the lte I'd supposed to get

T-Mobile US vs T-Mobile US LTE

I'm wondering if epc.tmobile.com (T-Mobile US) is better or is fast.t-mobile.com (T-Mobile US LTE) better?
I'm in an area that gets the DC connection. Using the epc APN I get a download speed of 11662. When I tried the fast APN it dropped to 5726.

I think it may depend on your area? At work I only get HSPA+ so either option is the same for me since niether gets LTE.

This device doesn't support lte so there's no reason to use that apn. Besides, tmobiles hspa+ is about as fast and gives better battery life. As lte matures that will change, but for now it's true.

Data speed question.

Hey y'all. I have a Nexus 4 on T-Mobile and consistently get over 20mbs dl speeds and 1 or 2 mbs up and that's on 3g.. on LTE its even faster..
Here's my question. A good friend of mine recently got the Optimus G with sprint and has yet to see more than 1mbs down or up. He briefly had a 4g connection and still couldn't break a meg. Is this normal for Sprint? Is there anything he could do to increase his speed or better his connection?
And its not like we're in a low service area.. here in central FL outside of Orlando pretty much all the big carriers are here in full strength.
Thanks for your input guys.
3G is pretty much garbage everywhere but in Florida 4g should be at least 5 MBps Down or higher
