[Q] FreeXperia Cm10 boot loop - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

So i'v been trying to get cm10 on my xperia s.
I have unlocked my bootloader, and followed this guide
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O52IeX93Jek
Steps i took:
1.Factory reset
2.I placed the ziped "FXP221-cm-10-20130524-UNOFFICIAL-nozomi" and "gapps-jb-20121011-signed" files on the sd card
3. flashed boot.img using fast boot
4. Installed the rom and then the gaps
5. reboot
But when i reboot i'm stuck in the boot loop.
I've now tried this 3 times but always get the boot loop. What can i do to avoid that?

Just format system & then flash rom.Everything will be fine
Sent from my Xperia SL using xda premium

I'm knew to the concept of installing new roms so i need a bit more elaborate answers.
At the moment I'm back on the stock rom and would like to know what i have to do different so that i can install cm10 without getting a boot loop.
I was successful in installing a new rom.

The Reason Why You Are Getting A Bootloop.
Flashing of Boot.img is Not Proper.
What You Need To Do.
Flash boot.img using FLASHTOOL.
In the zip file you have got, extract boot.img in the zip and place it on desktop or anywhere you can find.
Keep zip file in your phone storage.
Set USB Debugging On from Settings - Developer Options.
Connect the phone to the PC.
Click 1 - Click the Lightning icon.
Select 2 - Select the Fastboot Mode.
Click 3 - Click Ok.
Click 4 - Select Reboot Into Fastboot Via Adb and wait for the phone to go into fastboot mode. (Blue led).
Click 5 - Select Reboot Into Fastboot Via Fastboot and wait for the phone to go into fastboot mode. (Blue led).
Click 6 and 7 - Select the boot.img (from desktop if you have extracted there)
Click 8 - Reboot phone. After reboot, the phone will be in recovery mode.
In Recovery
-Whip Cache Partion,
-Cache,
-Dalvik Cache,
-Fix Permissions,
Flash The ROM

Don't know why, but it doesn't work for me.
Got a XPeria Go with formerly CM9 on it, updated to 4.1.2 and follow this guide: http://go.apeboys.org/index-de.html wich with CM9 worked perfectly. But, now with CM10 i got everytime a Bootloop and not able to fix it.
i used also your guide for flashing the boot.img but it even doesn't work
i tried it several times, and searched for reasons and another guids and tipps, but nothing worked, and since my x10 mini got a sim-lock wich i can't fix, im a little afraid about exotic tipps.
i got an open Bootloader and everything should be ready to do this....
so my question is: How can i fix that?
thanks for help and sry for my bad english.

Exact same problem here

I don't know what's the problem here. The last thing that would cause this would be the fact that I changed the .zip's name (I did that).

Correct, flash the boot.img with the command fastboot flash boot boot.img
then fastboot erase cache
then boot to recovery and install the rom.zip via recovery.
Thanks so it really is that simple or am I missing something seen lots having problems with boot loops etc is there anything else I need to be aware of
As far as I can see the order and actions I need to do bearing in mind my HTC is already bootloader unlocked and rooted
1Download the ROM copy to phone
2 Extract Boot.IMG from the ROM
3 Boot my phone into boot loader
4 Connect to PC and in fastboot (phone shows fastbootusb) fast boot flash boot boot.img
5 Still in fastboot fastboot erase cache
5 Boot into recovery (connected to PC or not?) Full wipe then install the ROM followed by installing the updates through recovery
Thanks again

[Q] Xperia S: from unlock bootloader to recovery to flashing ROM on MAC

Hi.
I'm trying to unlock my bootloader on Xperia S in order to flash CM11 ROM.
I followed this website: unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions and I'm stuck at #9.
Download and unzip this file. This is the standard android_winusb.inf-file, with a few lines of code added to enable Fastboot to support Sony and Sony Ericsson devices. Make sure you are running Google USB Driver package revision 4 or higher in your Android SDK. You can see current Google USB Driver package revision in the SDK Manager.

Yes, I managed to download android SDK and everything except the Google USB Driver, because it doesn't exist on MAC.
Anyway, I managed to solve my own problem using a FlashTool here: flashtool.net/download.php
Now my problem is solved. The bootloader is finally unlocked!! :victory:
My next problem: I would like to flash CM11 KitKat. Is there a step-by-step guide?
I found some threads in the development section on what to download etc etc, but it doesn't tell me how to install or run it.
I'm an absolute noob at this.

I'm afraid that's a bit too advanced for me. Do you have a link to a step-by-step guide (preferably for MAC)?
Do I still need to install a recovery, since my phone data is already gone while unlocking the bootloader?
How do I flash the ROM on Xperia S? Is there a guide for this?
edit: I wanted to install this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2555243 but I don't know how. I downloaded the .zip file. What's next?

another problem, I can't get into the recovery mode.
I tried rebooting the phone while pressing the volume button, also tried pressing the back key, and tried tapping the screen. Didn't work.
edit: I've read many sources that say wait until purple LED light blinks or wait until android logo shows etc etc, but my phone doesn't show any LED blinks at startup, nor does it have any android logo. Only the words Xperia and Sony appear.

Try reinstalling the recovery, don't know I would recommend you to use doomlord's guides bro U can't fail
To flash the rom, go to recovery / install zip/ install zip from sdcard0 , select and flash it , don't forget to do a factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache which is in advanced option in recovery

Rooted my phone, bricked it, and now went back to default Lollypop
-> I flashed the official CMD 12S, and flashed supersu alongwith, the first time when it was released, i.e. Thursday evening.
-> I was rooted to begin with, setup everything, everything worked.
-> Out of curiosity, rebooted to recovery to check the recovery, what it is. I was on clock work mod recovery, when I was on kit kat.
-> That's when my device would go to YU screen, and never go beyond that.
-> Luckily, I could still go into adb shell and fastboot. I flashed, the default boot and recovery from the original 12S zip, and logged into recovery again. Then used the update process in default recovery, to install 12S again.
-> So far so good. I can go to recovery as well.
-> What different I did this time, well did not root my device using supersu. So whoever have rooted your device using older supersu, would suggest to reboot to recovery, and if it breaks, you can still get your device back, by the process I mentioned, but that would confirm that old supersu could break recovery.
After flashing dont start ua phone
Go to recovery mode directly!

What is the proper procedure to install the fast boot version as I am facing issues after installing the OTA and probably they can be resolved with the fastboot option. Kindly help.
I hv updated my yureka yesterday manually to cm12 and device is running very smoothly..bt I faced an issue while charging the phone..it was taking around 4hrs of time and phn heating a lot .. I was thinking to revert back to kitkat which was also working f9 for me without any heating issue bt I came to know it is not passible to go back.. I was bit tensed regarding heating issue bt suddenly I see my lumia 520 charger and I charged yureka with that charger and u won't believe charging speed is increased and phn was nt heating up at all.. I don't knw what is issue with charning in lollipop bt nw I am very relaxed ...

Kailas proper procedure, I won't know, as there may be a better way . However I'd tell you what worked for me.
-> I downloaded the zips (fastboot, and signed one, from http://forum.xda-developers.com/yureka/general/discussion-yu-yureka-cm-12s-lollipop-t3084461).
-> I moved the signed zip(cm-12.0-YNG1TAS0W0-tomato-signed-fastboot.zip) version to External SD card.
-> I extracted the fastboot zip file to folder in laptop, and flashed boot.img from it, using fastboot. Not sure if there would be any difference if I use the boot.img from usual signed zip file.
-> Then I rebooted to fastboot again, and flashed the recovery.img.
-> Thats when I booted to recovery, and updated the zip(I already moved earlier to sd in step 2) through default yureka recovery.
-> Once installation was completed, I cleared the catche again, as suggested by others.
Let me know if you need fastboot commands. The fastboot works using the verdor id as fastboot -i 0x1ebf. For ex.
fastboot -i 0x1ebf flash boot boot.img
And you can almost always login in fastboot, by

fastboot -i 0x1ebf flash boot boot.img

Are you sure this worked for you, cause basically you are just saying that you did the normal rooting procedure that we did when we had kitkat, just that you used a 64 bit recovery this time
Stock recovery for CM 12
abeyhere said:

Xperia Z1: Stuck In Bootloop After Trying To Flash ROM In TWRP

Bootloop Sony logo
oook, this was my first time that i tried to flash a rom with twro ... aaaand i messed all up.
i rooted my phone 2 days ago with kingroot then i used the [XZDualRecovery] to get twrp on my phone.
then i made a backup and wiped cache, dalvik cache, system and data ... then flashed a cyanogen mod
the only problem is that flashing cm put my phone on a bootloop on sony logo (not led neither vibration) and i can't enter the recovery neither flashmode.
sorry for the bad english

You can use fastboot on PC, if adb installed, to flash kernel and recovery IMG, then boot into recovery, and flash new ROM or restore backup. I have Z1c, so don't have any files for you, but easy to find in forums.

Download a ROM file, (try a prf if no luck with CM), copy it onto sdcard, put sdcard in phone, download a CM boot.img to computer, (get it from a ROM zip file), and a twrp recovery.img. fastboot the 2 imgs, boot recovery, and flash ROM. Do you know why Roms aren't working? Are you using right files for your phone?

4) exctract the boot.img from the zip
5) download a twrp recovery.img
6) put them in the fastboot folder

That's right, but I think I see where your problem might be, (unless it's just a typo). Your commands should be: for boot, 'fastboot flash boot (name of file).img; and for recovery, 'fastboot flash recovery (name of file).img.
Try again with that. There's some good files in this thread - a http://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/general/root-stock-5-1-ub-t3203247
(Sorry, for some reason I thought you had a Z1. I would have linked it sooner).

I prefer to start from scratch, but I have tried some custom stock- based Roms. Of those, I would recommend anything by Munjeni, (he has a few KK and one LP ROM in the Dev forum), or DstrikerZ1. CM based Roms are great for customization and smoothness, but tend to be worse on battery, and very iffy with Xposed.

My 1+ 3 won´t boot recovery or system

hey guys,
i have a big problem.
i unlocked my one+ 3 2 weeks ago and installed twrp and cm13. all worked fine.
yesterday i read the news from cm the first devices will get offical cm14.
so i donwloaded the first rom and updated my phone (without a wipe!).
the cm14 starts good and all worked fine.
But, i find out, i can´t hear a phone call.
so, i want to go back to the twrp to restore my backup of cm13.
the problems begins....
i can´t boot twrp. i see the bootloader screen and after switching the screen to recovery (normaly) i got a black screen (seems like to shut off the screen).
then i tried to reinstall it, nothing.
after a full evening of trying i wiped it (factory reset) from android 7.
after the reboot i got the same problem. -> black screen after bootscreen Android won´t start, recovery won´t start.
then i downloaded a toolbox and installed the stock recovery -> no change -> black screen.
then i tried to find a stock image als *.img format to flash it with all (kernel and recovery, etc) with fastboot, but i didn´t find an image.
my last try was to make a full wipe with "fastboot -w". but this won´t work too.
so, now my phone will only boot into fastboot and thats it.
i need urgend help.
can anyone tell me what i can do? how can i install any os and wipe via fastboot and with no recovery?
thx a lot for your help.

Lots off people are getting this problem and trust me for some reason people post steps to fix this that are complicated for people who are just getting to playing around with TWRP.
Look, download the original TWRP recovery from here, https://dl.twrp.me/oneplus3/ the one you need is the 3.0.2-1 . I used it and I got back to MC13 From MC14.1 which by the way is now working pretty good. Once you fastboot flash recovery .this 3.0.2-1 recovery you can actually use it with MC14.1 as am doing right now. In any case. flash recovery >factory reset > adb your MC13 Zip to the phone > reboot...
Remember All Of This Steps Are Always Taken At Your Own Risk !!
Best of luck!!! [emoji6]

Thanks for your reply.
to flash only the new recovery will not help.
tomorrow i will try to flash, wipe (with "fastboot -w" and copy the zip file.
Will the copy install the cm13 version? or do u mean sideload to have the cm13 zip for the twrp to flash?
Try to flash the modified twrp. Check the official topic for cm 14, it is linked over there

@superiscch just provided you with the TWRP that works. This is what i did !
Flash the recovery provided on the link >boot to the new recovery, you well see the version at the top left corner as 3.0.2-1 > factory reset > adb sideload the MC 13 ....... Reboot system > than add your choice of google apps to the sdcard root > reboot to recovery > flash google apps from with recovery than reboot, you would be golden. After, if your interested just flash the TWRP from the original twrp team. Cuss the one you just installed is modified, it be your choice !!

Hey guys,
thx for your replay. i will try it after work.
but i have one question ... what do u mean exactly with " adb your MC13 Zip"?
do u mean to transfer the zip to install with twrp or is there a command to install the zip to the systempartition?

Okay... Look, once you have flash the modified recovery and you reboot. You be able to boot to your OS. Than you have to simple options 1. Load the CM13 ZIP file to your sdcard which you can use for installing with recovery
2. Boot into recovery and side load the MC 13 ZIP file into your phone using adb...sideload would be using adb
ADB... adb sideload <name of file> without the brackets...
Good luck man
