Hello, well i ran into phone problems and now i am using sprint galaxy nexus-- my problem with this phone is i have yet to find a rom that the network actually works and can tether...ive tried at least 5 roms already and none them tether works or with a app, or they dont like talking to the network so it never downloads apps or updates them
yes ive tried the official aokp the cynogenmod 10.1 --slim rom and a few others i wanted to try MIUI but it wont download lol

Empty reply lol
Are we talking about USB tethering, WiFi tethering, what??
I can WiFi-tether just fine on stock yakju and CM.

K so when I fist got my gnex I could use it with my Bluetooth speakers from a far range I could be like two rooms away and could still here it fine and it would be smooth. That was stock. Now that I'm rooted and running aokp it is horrible. I can't be more than 4 or 5 feet from the speakers without it cutting in and out and being really unusable.... would this be the rom (aokp M5) or the kernel (latest Franco nightly)?

Could be either, especially if AOKP is using the wrong bcmdhd.cal for the device.

You answered your own question. Go back to stock if you need things to work properly. Custom roms are experimental at best, since they introduce all kinds of problems, including app incompatibility, hardware instability and broken features (like voicemail notifications not working).
Good luck.

Sorry it took long lol I'm at work so I had to go on chrome and try to get it on there then I had to zip it with androzip ....

Looking at it now.
Well, it is the right one. I know the Verizon version has been modified to fix choppy BT. It may or may not work for you. You are welcome to try it, but back up your current one.
Okay thanks I will try it when I get home

Has anyone got this to work?
I uninstalled Wifi tether and used the built in hotspot. Worked fine after a reboot.
Oh boy, you posted this in the wrong place
What about the carrier check?
Yup, the wrath of khan is about to come down on this misplaced thread

The built-in tethering works fine for me. I guess since Verizon hasn't touched this ROM the hotspot works as Google intended.

Same question here because I will use it but I don't want to be charged for it and I have never tried using it in the past so I don't know if you get prompted or not if you use it.

You have to sign up for hot spot to be able to use it. If you haven't added this to plan, it won't work. Therefore, its free.

I have tried using the built in hotspot, and my iPod seems to connect to it (puts a check mark), but it never gets the signal bars in the status bar, and doesn't actually gets internet.
I have also tried the newest version of wifi tether, beta 14 from their website, but it won't even show up as a network using that.
Does anyone know of a way to get wifi tether to work on jelly bean?
Sent from my Verizon Galaxy Nexus running Jelly Bean via Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2
The built in Wi-Fi hotspot works well for me. JB v3 with Franco 217. 4G on with WPA2 security to Windows 7 on my MacBook. All sorts of things running unintended software, and it all works like a charm. =)
Edit: VZW Galaxy Nexus
Edit2: I don't pay for tethering, but it shouldn't matter, as I'm data-capped either way.

Hmm, maybe it's an issue with the rom I am on, or the kernel it has. I am running on vanir v5, and it has a 3.0.31 popcorn kernel.

I've seen similar topics but nothing that's exactly what's wrong here.
I just installed FL16 JB leak, and I cannot get wireless tether for root users to work. I have the latest version, I've tried the settings mentioned in other threads and had no luck. Up untill the newest version I couldn't even get it to show up in any of my devices.
Are there any known working wifi tethers for FL16?

Hey People,
Just wondering if it's worth upgrading to 4.2.2 ... based on what I know, the changes doesn't justify it.
Appreciate your comments.
cheers,
Alex
Bug fixes don't justify it?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
it was worth it for me, for you perhaps not.
If I were you I'd not upgrade because the perceived benefit does not out weigh your paranoia.
Why wouldn't you upgrade? Aren't frequent updates part of the reason we chose nexus devices.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Update. Its much faster. Just do it.
<maguro>
Guys,
don't get me wrong. My impression of 4.2.2 was just more for the graphical usage ... I'll update when it it being sent to my phone again ... thanks!!
I still have wifi problems sometimes when waking from deepsleep. This is using stock with no root. Is shows is connected but the internet is not working. Is there a router setting to fix this?

On stock 4.2.2. Bluetooth tethering still borked. Can't tether my N7 for more than a few seconds at a time.
I'm using Carbon ROM which is up to 4.2.2 and the tethering works well to PC's or MAC books.
sorry for my shallow knowledge but pls clarify one basic q of mine:
If i update to 4.2.2 as indicated by my samsung galaxy nexus phone notification...will it get locked and unrooted again ?
I have used wugfresh in past to unlock boot and take backups...
I've stock 4.2.2 with only root, but I still have some annoying bugs like wifi that stops working when the phone is in standby(yes, the settings are correctly set up), the clock in the lockscreen presents some position problem when I push the power button and I find a slow passage to 3g connection when I turn off wifi.

It'll not get locked after OTA update but you will lose root. To keep root; use the free app "OTA RootKeeper"

Running MMuzzy's 4.2.2 2/17 build. Super smooth and tethering works. Did not test BT. I don't think the superwipe script worked the first time from 4.2.1, so I went through the manual steps to wipe.
Hey guys. I have android 4.1.1 running on my phone and ive been waiting for an ota update for the past couple of months but its just not coming! My phones not rooted and i want an update without rooting it! Any help?

Why wouldn't you? It's not like you won't be able to reverse back to 4.2.1.
It's as simple as that, it's not rocket science

Nope. I liked the look of mine and based my decision on that. Frequent updates are a bonus.
Did 4.2.1 had this?

I flashed a Paranoid Android 3.99 ROM for the AT&T Note 2 and everything works fine but the Wireless Access Point. Once it is turned on, connected devices trigger the T-Mobile up sell page page. Is there something I can do to make it work? A tweak somewhere?
I use Wifi Tether 3.4 right now but in order to connect the phone to Wifi after using the tether function I have to restart the device.

This exact issue? I know there is all the talk of avoiding up sell by using Trev E mod and vpn but I also know CM Unofficial builds use the built in tethering as does PAC. All I am doing is tethering my tablet and when I do tether my comp on those mentioned ROMs I am smart enough to adjust my user agent.
Yeaup still searching

I can tether with an external application. I want to use native tethering which works in CM, Carbon, and PAC but not in PA 3+ on T-Mobile for me and apparently quite a few others according to the PA Google Plus Community
