Um.. I downloaded the Rom in parts ( 8 different zips) now how do I convert them into a neat single zip for flashing? I can't open the parts with 7 zip so do I now just put all the parts in a single zip and flash or extract the parts somehow ( I don't know how) and put them in a zip and then flash or it doesn't really matter???

Hello but-but
I'd really like to help you out with this. I don't use MIUI in particular but still..
Possible And Only Fix.
1. Delete the Last Digits of The File.
Say, miui_LT26i_3.2.8_4.zip.001 ----> miui_LT26i_3.2.8_4.zip
2. Similarly Extract All The Files, To A Single Folder.
3 Make An Archive (Zip) For The Folder.
4. Load Both The Gapps and Archived Folder To The Phone SD Card
5. Flash Both Zips.
Advice : Any problems in Extracting may Result In Soft Brick.
I'd really recommend you to download only the single zip file.
PS : If I Helped I'd Be Really Happy if You Press Thanks.
Quote me if you need more help or suggestions.

Flashable zip

So I have a bunch apks that I add to every rom that I flash.... I was wondering if someone could lend some knowledge. I want to put them together in a flashable zip u can use in recovery, but do I just zip them in winzip and done? Or are there other steps I need to take? Should I use something besides winzip? Thanks in advance.

You will need to make a folder called update,inside make a folder called META-INF,in the META make folders called com/google/android,so the structure looks like this... META-INF/com/google/android,this thread will tell you how to make an updater script... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=641223 ,after you've created an updater and update scripts,after that in the same area you made the META folder,make a folder called system,inside system make one called apps,then put your apps in there and add the symlinks pointing to the apps,which is in the same thread as above.After you have finished that,right click the update folder and add to archive,in compression settings use "store" method and type of compression,use zip,then zip it up and theres your flashable update script.

Or u could just find a flashable zip of a mod or apk in the themes and apk section for evo and then just add ur apps to it. Should work as long as updater script mounts and unmounts /system.
U can use 7zip or winrar to open the zip up. Open up system folder then app folder. Add ur apks and delete the things the script originally added unless u want them. Easy as that.
Name of flashable zip doesn't matter btw

How to flash a bootanimation with cmw

Hi, i am not a developer but i have discovered a litte trick i would like to share with everybody. If you want to change your bootanimation ( with a new one you have created or found on the internet) there are several ways to do it but i have found very easy to flash it with cmw. The procedure is this. Download an already flashable zip file like the one posted in thread cm10 bootanimation i8150 by wong.izzat. Open the file (first screenshot) and click the folder "system" then the folder "media" (second screen shot) and you will find the file bootanimation.zip (third screenshot). Select it and remove it. Now take your new bootanimation file and move it in the folder where the previous one was . Close the file and rename this flashable file any way you like it i.e. newbootanimation. At this point you have a flashable zip file that you can flash with cwm as usual: copy to the external sd card , go into recovery, select flash zip and then select zip from external sd and find your file and flash it. Reboot and you will see the new bootanimation. The procedure is 100 % safe and the only important detail is that the name of the new boot animation must be bootanimation.zip.
Hope is useful
P.S. it is evident that in order to do this you must have a rooted phone and clockworkmod recovery installed
P.P.S. if you want to create your personal bootanimation use the boot animation factory program (sorry I cannot post link but you can easily find it on the internet. it is a free program )
hei, can u show us some screenshots??

Modifying GAPPS

I want to take an existing gapps and modify it with all of my favorite apps to make flashes between roms less painful. Been researching and saw you can use a zip program to easily achieve this. Question, is it that simple or is there more to know? Any advice be welcomed.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
Yes it is almost that simple. Make sure you add the apks you want in the data/apps folder and have signature verification turned off. If you need to any further help just pm me.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda app-developers app
Yes, this would be very easy
You need: 7zip and the apks of all your favorite apps
1. Grab the zip for the gapps you're using
2. Open the zip using 7zip (DO NOT EXTRACT)
3. There should be a folder named "data". Open it and go into the "app" folder (final path should be gapps.zip/data/app)
4. Now go to where the apks of your favorite programs are and drag all of them into the open 7zip window. Say yes when the prompt comes up
5. Thats it. The flashable zip extracts EVERYTHING thats in the "data" folder so your apps will be included in that
For more info, and to learn how to creat your own flashable zip (its not very hard actually) go to the following thread:
Note however, that it would be easier to just make a whole different flashable zip that contains your favorite apps since gapps vary by rom and by android version

Some apk's need lib files added to the zip file. Titanium Backup is one, for example, that I add to all my ROMs before I flash them. Swiftkey is another.
Titanium Backup Pro will allow you to create a flashable zip of all of your installed user apps in a single click

I am assuming that you have only a system folder. Now you need another folder called as META-INF from any rom which shares a same base as your rom. If you are working on a rom with .55 base, just check my signature for Xperia SL prerooted zip and download it. Take the Meta inf folder from my rom and make a zip with my meta inf and your system folder. It is better if you go through the updater script first. Then copy this zip to your internal storage. First make a backup in CWM. Then wipe data/factory reset and go to mounts and storage--->format /system. Then flash the zip and reboot.
If you have any difficulties doing this then please feel free to ask it here.

Yes of course you can do that. You will just need the CWM files which can be added to your system folder. Then you will need to add some more commands in the updater-script. I will give you those files asap okay?
Download the attached zip. Extract it and you will get a folder called "system". Now just merge this folder with your rom's system folder and make the flashable zip. Then you *should* have CWM in your /system partition.

Sorry for the late reply. Had been slightly busy with some school work. Okay so download the attached file and extract it and place the file called "fix_permissions" with your rom's other folder like system, META-INF (not inside any folder but just outside independently). Then open your updater-script and add this:-
Code:
package_extract_file("fix_permissions", "/tmp/fix_permissions");
set_perm(0, 0, 0777, "/tmp/fix_permissions");
run_program("/tmp/fix_permissions");
Now it should work.

At the end of the updater-script, just before you see the first unmount() function.

FTF files are regular ZIP files. Open it with 7-Zip/WinRAR and you'll find some .sin files inside (.sin is a proprietary format used by Sony). Some of these .sin files (like system.sin) can be decrypted by Flashtool by going to Tools => Sin Editor => Extract data. This will leave you with an .ext4 file (like system.ext4). This file can be mounted and edited directly if you're on Linux or you can view and extract its contents by using ext2explore or another similar tool on Windows...
