[Q] Bricked GT-N7100, is the my problem hardware or software? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good day, guys! Sorry if my first post is related to a problem. I'm pretty new to Android so please bear with me...
So I woke up this morning and my Note 2 won't completely boot, it goes as far as "Samsung Galaxy Note II GT-N7100" screen and just completely gets stuck. I tried to charge it but it just shows the empty battery icon. I left it charging overnight so I don't exactly know what happened. My phone is completely stock, rooted it before then un-rooted later. No custom ROM, no custom recovery etc.
I tried to boot to Recovery Mode but it won't let me. Luckily it can boot to Download Mode. I figured I would flash it to stock ROM since I was still at 4.1.1 maybe I would just update to 4.1.2. I downloaded the firmware from sammobile.com and used Odin but it fails every time with this message:
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..

Can someone point out the problem to me? I've read around that this is probably SDS but I'm still hoping that it's not. I bought my phone from another country so taking it back would be a little difficult.
Any help appreciated. Thank you!

[Q] GT-N7100 ROM and PIT failure feedback

I've just lost my Samsung note, after a hard reboot when the phone locked I got a dead system. Tried to boot into the reset menu but got the Odin menu by mistake, after which I hard reset the phone again, but this time it won't boot past the SGN2 Boot screen. I've gone through all the stuff of trying to re-install the phone with a ROM but it moan I had no PIT, so I found one. Still though it won't go past in setting of the partition... it might need a long time to set-up, but I have no idea as after a hour its still leaving the same message. I'm going to leave it overnight, but I would love some feed back to those that have done this before.

Well I left it running over night and still nothing... So far I have tried it with PIT_N7100_16GB_20121102 and it just never gets any further. So I can only assume that I'm making a mistake getting this on the system. Going to have another search later to see if their are any other methods of restoring the phone.
It's really bad sign and I suspect SDS
Can you give more details what exactly happened, how the issue started?
You are on which rom, when this happened?

The phone is completely stock, which it why this has rather confused me. All I know is that it was working all OK, hun and wouldn't respond, so I reset it with a battery pull. On starting it up the phone wouldn't move past the 'Samsung' boot screen. So I tried to boot into the recover to reset the system and end up in the Odin mode by mistake, but since then the phone now won't move past the SNGT-7100 Screen. Plugging it into Odin and trying to install the stock ROM again it told me I had no PIT, so I have tried to apply a number but they all fail.

I've tried the PIT_N7100_16GB_20121102.pit and sch-i605-16gb.pit
I'm rather stuck as to whether there is another method I can try or should just give up and take it back to Phones4u to get it replace via the warrenty as I've only had it since just before Xmas.
It seems SDS purely, don't do anything, particularly which raise flash counter and just submit to service centre.
Sorry man but it's seems nothing but SDS, you may not have updated to latest 4.1.2,which believed to have fixed for it
Goodluck

Hopefully NOT Bricked but Unsure of What to Do

Ok, I got a new Note II the other day with 4.3 already installed via Kies or OTA. I attempted to push, via ODIN, "CF-Auto-Root-d2tmo-d2tmo-sght999.tar". I REALIZE THIS IS THE ROOT FOR S3; I KNOW I FLASHED THE WRONG FILE. PLEASE DO NOT POST SAYING I FLASHED THE WRONG FILE. I KNOW I SCREWED UP BIG TIME, AND I'M HOPING SOMEONE IS NICE ENOUGH TO TRY AND HELP ME THROUGH THIS. My laptop sat there for the better part of 2 hours acting like ODIN was cranking along but the bar never moved. After 2 hours, I had to pull the cord from the phone (stupid move, I know!), and this is, of course, where the problem began.
Now, I get the coveted "Firmware Upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." screen. The phone will, obviously, go no further than this in booting up. I am able to get to download mode.
I attempted to install JellyBean Release 4.3 (December 2013) from this thread to alleviate the issue. Here's the ODIN result:

Now, as I sit here and write this, I think installing a stock firmware like this one might not work at all. I need to install a recovery (stock or otherwise) to make this problem disappear. I tried to reinstall the CF-Auto-Root file and got this result:

Again, it didn't do anything for hours. I pulled the cord again since it didn't look like it was actually writing anything to my phone.
I don't think I can use KIES as a last resort since I never backed up the phone through KIES before. I am out of ideas, and I would really like to get this phone operational again. Also, the serial number has been removed from the device (Igot the phone from Ebay), so I don't think I could use this route either.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Download and flash CF auto-root for sgh-t889(link below)it includes recovery, then perform factory reset by rebooting in to recovery.

Major issue trying to root - Firmware Upgrade Encountered an Error

Good afternoon, and thank you for taking your time to read my thread.
I recently attempted to root my phone, and having little to no issue rooting many other devices (including my previous phone, a Galaxy Prevail) I decided I was fed up with the bloatware.
I began the process, but encountered an issue where ODIN failed while attempting to root the device.
I am not 100% sure, but I know this information may very well help me to a solution: I don't think I enabled debug mode in settings.
When attempting to use KIES to restore firmware, I get a "this device is not recognized" error, and even when trying to manually enter S/N and device info, it will not let me use any part of KIES to restore it.
So I then tried to use ODIN to flash stock firmware...
First error I receive is almost immediate:

Please, if you have any advice for me I am begging.. I only was able to upgrade to this device because of a promotion AT&T had to get it for $5 dollars.. I am very income restricted so buying a new device is a crippling idea. If you do by chance suggest I download a new version of ODIN ( I am using 3.07, I find it most stable) or a new stock firmware etc, please provide links as I have attempted many different mirrors (with horrendous download speeds) for different stock recovery firmware.
THANK YOU!!!
I appreciate your time.. All it took was attempting to root the phone another time to restore access... Wow.. I hate myself ._.

So, what's the state of the phone now and what happens when you try to power on? Is it now booting normally to system?

PIT file needed for GT-N5120 16GB

Hi there,
I'm trying to flash a stock UK firmware (N5120XXDOD1_N5120BTUDOD1_N5120XXDNH3_HOME.tar.md5) for my GT-N5120 LTE 16GB with Odin, but I'm having problems getting it to work. Odin Log reports two different problems:

I've spent hours trawling the net for a suitable Pit file, but I can't find one. I understand that you can make your own using something like Pit Magic, but I don't know what I'm doing with it.
A little background on the problem with my Note 8. Yesterday the tablet was plugged into the charger and switched on but wasn't in use. I noticed it reboot for no reason but then it wouldn't load any further than the logo / model number screen. I rebooted it, pulled the battery and tried just about everything else to get it to work. Finally I resorted to trying to restore the firmware via Kies. The process started but failed. Now I have no firmware and I can only get as far as the Download screen.
Additionally, the screen flickers constantly and sometimes only has flickering black and white lines. I suspect that something more serious is wrong with it, but I'd still like to see if I can fix it before I trash it.
Could anyone point me to a suitable Pit file or could extract one from their GT-N5120?
Appreciate any help, thanks.
BUMP
Still looking for a PIT file for my GT-N5120 16GB. I must have PIT files for nearly every Samsung model to date, all except a 16GB version for this device.. I've got an 8GB version that won't flash. I've probably got every version of Odin released in the wild.
I've got Samsung Full Firmware Maker, PIT Magic, PIT Viewer, various recoveries and stock firmwares.. most of which are a bit over my head at this time. All I need is one little file.
I can still boot into Download Mode, I've made a 300k ohm USB jig so I can boot into Factory Mode, but I still can't flash firmware as repartition fails on every PIT I've tried. The only thing I haven't tried is a 16GB PIT file, and if that fails, I'm left with a few other unbrick options before I concede to the fact that it's dead and has a NAND failure.
Anyone willing and able to extract a 16GB PIT file from their GT-N5120 16GB?
Cheers, Chris.
I have a N5110 16gb, so I likely cannot help. But how would one extract a PIT file, because that might be useful to have, because I was afraid I'd mess mine up flashing ROMs for N5100, but it seemed to be fine, I was able to odin 5110 stock without issue.

Can't flash stock firmware after Lineage 14.1

This morning I flashed Lineage 14.1 and there were no errors. But it got stuck at the Samsung logo during reboot. I waited about 15 minutes. I could not figure out how to fix it so I decided to flash the stock firmware using Odin. It passed but also got stuck at the same screen during reboot. Then I did a hard system recovery but still could not boot past the Samsung logo. After that I install Samsung Kies 3, but it said the phone is no longer supported. Then I tried Kies 2.6 but it said the phone SGH-M919 does not support initialization. Now I can't get to the system recovery screen anymore. It would say there is an issue with the firmware update and try again in Kies. I cannot flash the stock firmware in Odin anymore either. It would fail with a complete write error. I don't know what else to try. Please help me.
Did you confirm the phone's model # in download mode?
You tried different USB cables, different USB ports, and different versions of Odin?
What was the exact Odin error?
Yes, the model is correct SGH-M919. I've tried Odin 3.0.7 and 3.10.6. I used Odin 3.0.7 to root and install TWRP recovery using the same original Samsung USB cable. So the cable and port should be OK. I tried it again this morning and noticed it took a long time after the message "Get PIT for mapping.."

I was using the USB ports at the front of the PC and none of them worked. I tried one port at the back and it worked. Thank you very much. I never thought this would make a difference because I use the ports in the front all the time with my other iPhones, iPads, USB memory sticks and never had a problem. I lost all my data on the phone but that's OK. I would not dare to install custom ROM again. It looked so easy in youtube videos. Thanks again.
Glad you got it working. I always use the ports at the back of my desktop because I find it more reliable than the front case ports.
