[Q] Android 4.2.2 and Tasker - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi all,
I've just recently flashed SOA Jedi ROM to my SGS3 and am loving how stable this ROM is. I noticed once I flashed it I now have the option of "profiles" built into the ROM that support audio settings. I'm used to using tasker to change audio setting based on different things such as location and being attached to my home wireless, but I accomplish that by changing each individual audio setting, such as Ringtone, Notification, System, Media and so forth. I was wondering if there is anyway to just have tasker change the audio profile rather than each individual audio setting. I've looked all over tasker for the option, but can't seem to find it. Am I missing something, or is there no way to change the profile with tasker?
Thanks,
Dave

Finally found the answer for anyone looking for it.
Found the answer. The SOA Jedi ROM is based off of CyanogenMod and the profiles are part of that ROM. I picked up an app called Profile 4 Tasker+Widget that gives me the option to change the Profile now using the "Plugin" action category. This will save me from setting up all the different volume levels, and settings for each task.

texting permission

I love my galaxy nexus. Just recently flashed to stock JB. A few concerns:
Sound/speaker is very low. Even with headphones I find the audio level incredibly low. I am not sure if this is a hardware limitation or software. I am running JB so I understand volume + is not an option.
When sending messages back and forth. I get a.warning that messaging app is sending mamy SMS messages and requires permission. I find this incredibly annoying. Is there anything that can be done?
Does cynogen mod fix my concerns with this. I know 9 is out fully stable.

CM9 is ICS, not JB, but yes, a custom ROM will fix most of your issues. Try the ones at the dev section, a lot of them are stable
I'm on CM10 and I still get that texting popup

Enable the EQ in the stock music player and move all of the sliders to the top. That should give you better volume.
PS: You have to have a song playing in order to see the EQ option.
thanks

Keep Bluetooth tethering on by default

The only way to connect my phone and Nexus 7 via bluetooth is to have Bluetooth Tethering enabled under Settings > More... > Tethering & portable hotspot. But when I disable BT on my phone and then turn it back on, this setting is always turned off. I'd like to keep it enabled if possible. Can it be done?
Just a bump
Maybe tasker can do that for you.
Swype'ed on my CM10 Galaxy Nexus
Tasker CAN do that for you, if you know how to use it I might post a screenshot of it if you have tasker
Swyped on my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP with Franco Kernel, overclocked to 1.4GHz
Any alternatives to Tasker? Like modifying a file?

Yes please I'm using Lama but might switch if it can do that.
did you ever come up with a good solution for this??
Came across this app, haven't tried it yet, but sounds like it does what you want:

You can run this (root required) to enable bluetooth tethering:
Code:
service call connectivity 24 i32 2 null i32 0
Tested on Android 8.0.
It calls startTethering(), so if it didn't work, check the api of your android version.
Code:
https://github.com/aosp-mirror/platform_frameworks_base/blob/e80b45506501815061b079dcb10bf87443bd385d/core/java/android/net/IConnectivityManager.aidl#L80
This is not a full answer but it won't be too hard with this script.

[Q] Chaning max volume output in PAC-man in root explorer

Hi, I've recently installed PAC-man in my Samsung Note II 7100 and while I'm loving all the new features and speed I have noticed that this mod no longer works:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1922715
Reasoning being that the default_gain.conf file doesn't exist anymore. So my question is, in which file is the max volume controlled now? I don't mind if I have to personally edit it, I just want to know which. I rather do this by myself with a hard coded option instead of installing apk solutions like V4A.
No one?
Use viper

Yup, viper on the Play store is great. The description is in a different language, but the application itself can be set to english.

I am using it but to be honest the output isn't that stronger. The mod I mentioned before was a real game changer and I noticed quite a difference when using it with my car (using the aux port), but now with PACman+Viper I'm constantly having to set both my device volume and my car's radio volume to maximum to get a sound that is good enough, and even then it isn't that good. This never happened with the default_gain.conf edit. Not to mention that some players override Viper's settings which can be super annoying.
At the very least is there a way to push Viper's Output Gain over the 6db limit? Like editing one of it's conf files or something. That can be a helpful workaround.

[Q] Ringtone and Notification sounds

I'm trying to connect the two sounds because it's really annoying having the ringtone volume on the lowest level and having a message come in that's about as loud as it gets and its a hassle having to change both all the time. I used to use Quick settings but that doesn't seem to do the trick anymore so I was wondering how to go about it. Any hidden settings I haven't uncovered yet? Any good apps to recommend? Also how can I shut the camera shutter sound because that's also annoying...
On CM you can link them both together in the Volume adjustment panel from within Settings - Sound
but the CWM is a nightly so its not stable right? cuz I just came from SGS where I had Darkyy's ROM and don't really know what CWM is all about but from what I found in my brief search it said that nightlies are not the most stable ones
There are a lot of Profile Managers in the Play Store that should do the job. I use e. g. "Profiles" from Egg'n Stone and it works.

would that affect any of my other settins? meaning would I have to create profiles for everything I want and change them all the time or can I just change that one thing and carry on using the phone as before? cuz the last profiles I remember are on the old feature phones. never used one on a smartphone
Sorry, you are right. The Profile Managers I know and talked about support profiles for a lot of settings. They are not just linking the Sounds you mentioned. So my answer was not exactely related to your specific needs.

[Q] Text Message Notification Sound While on Call

Is there a way to hear a notification that you've received an incoming text message while on a call? This was definitely an option on my last phone, the Motorola Droid 4, but I have not been able to find a setting to accomplish this on the HTC One M8.
If there's not a setting on the phone that allows for this, does anyone know of a good app that will do this?
Thanks!
You will need to use an app, try SMS Popup.

Thanks very much. I will check it out. Looking at the description and screen captures briefly, it looks like it's a lot more than I need, but perhaps I can disable a lot of the functionality, or perhaps I'll find I prefer it to what I'm using now. I'll definitely install it and give it a shot. Thanks!

I did wind up installing SMS Popup, but I couldn't get it to do exactly what I wanted it to do, and even with settings on it or my texting app set to their minimal notification settings there were still both inconsistency issues and also issues with me seeing double notification icons, etc., as there was no way to turn off icons on both apps. But most importantly I'm fairly certain that the sound this app would have played to notify me of the incoming text while on a call would have been my default sound, which is not what I'm looking for. So while I do very much appreciate the suggestion thejosh86, I'm wondering if anyone has any other ideas?
The sound I'm looking for was the soft tone that you could hear during a call but that the person on the other end of the call could not hear. It was not a ringtone or anything played through the phone's regular speaker. Having done some more searching it appears that this may have been an option removed at the operating system level in some android OS update. But surely there must be people like me who want this functionality and programmers out there who have written something to accomplish the same thing, no?
