The only way to connect my phone and Nexus 7 via bluetooth is to have Bluetooth Tethering enabled under Settings > More... > Tethering & portable hotspot. But when I disable BT on my phone and then turn it back on, this setting is always turned off. I'd like to keep it enabled if possible. Can it be done?
Just a bump
Maybe tasker can do that for you.
Swype'ed on my CM10 Galaxy Nexus
Tasker CAN do that for you, if you know how to use it I might post a screenshot of it if you have tasker
Swyped on my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP with Franco Kernel, overclocked to 1.4GHz
Any alternatives to Tasker? Like modifying a file?

You can run this (root required) to enable bluetooth tethering:
Code:
service call connectivity 24 i32 2 null i32 0
Tested on Android 8.0.
It calls startTethering(), so if it didn't work, check the api of your android version.
Code:
https://github.com/aosp-mirror/platform_frameworks_base/blob/e80b45506501815061b079dcb10bf87443bd385d/core/java/android/net/IConnectivityManager.aidl#L80
This is not a full answer but it won't be too hard with this script.

Device: VZW Galaxy Nexus
OS: Cyanogenmod 10.1 (toro)
App attempted: Wifi Tether for Root Users (v 3.2-beta2)
I chose the above app because it seems to be what a great deal of people use once rooting their phones. When I tap to start tethering, I'm told that errors have happened and that I can view the log to see them. I've attached a screenshot of the log.
Any suggestions, anyone?
Why are you using some app other than stock?
CM supports it with out of the box functionality.
Settings--> More-->Tethering & portable hotspot-->Portable Wi-Fi hotspot.
Oh

I am not a clever man. I wasn't certain if I would be able to use the CM default hotspot without VZW finding out. So long as that thing is safe to use and they won't find out, then I'll definitely use that instead.

They can easily find out. Whatever you're tethering will likely have a user agent other than the Android one. Anybody with 2 brain cells can figure out what that means.
Well then

Solved!!!! The problem is that my network operator (CoopVoce) is virtual.
So I had to modify my APN setting adding "default, supl" as APN type.
Now it works great!!!!
Hey Guys,
I have just released an app on the Google Play store.
It is a plugin for tasker so you can control your notification led
Free - Ad Free
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tinyroar.galaxys3ledcontroller
(this plugin only works for touchwiz roms)
Like a charm!
I had searched for a solution to this months ago before giving up. Thanks for this!
I can confirm that it is working on a rooted Verizon S3, as well as a rooted Verizon Note 2. Finally, I can sleep without feeling like I live next to a lighthouse. :victory:

So, what can you do with this... not being flippant, just really getting into Tasker now and checking out all the different apps and plugins available and what they do, etc. Examples?
from my understanding there was a bug with tasker and lightflow that they wouldn't properly control the LED on the S3. This plug in allows you to create tasker tasks to turn them off and on.

I think any LED "bugs" would lie with LightFlow. It's just an all around POS on these devices.
This works great on both my gs3 and note 2

I don't know if it's even possible what i'm about to ask, but would there be a chance to make this tasker plugin compatibele with Sony devices, for instance Xperia Z1?
I'm already trying solutions for hours but still cannot get tasker to turn off LED notifications at night when my device is charging on a dock.
I never had any problems with this before because I lways charged my phones face down, but now I'm using a dock so this is really bugging me!
EDIT: Light Flow isn't working for me either.
I know this is a REAL old thread, but I'm hoping someone might have a copy of this app. I was using it on my S7 Edge, accidentally deleted it, and it's no longer available in the Play Store. Any help greatly appreciated.
Edit: Never mind. I found the app here: http://www.apkmonk.com/app/com.tinyroar.galaxys3ledcontroller/

Hi all,
I've just recently flashed SOA Jedi ROM to my SGS3 and am loving how stable this ROM is. I noticed once I flashed it I now have the option of "profiles" built into the ROM that support audio settings. I'm used to using tasker to change audio setting based on different things such as location and being attached to my home wireless, but I accomplish that by changing each individual audio setting, such as Ringtone, Notification, System, Media and so forth. I was wondering if there is anyway to just have tasker change the audio profile rather than each individual audio setting. I've looked all over tasker for the option, but can't seem to find it. Am I missing something, or is there no way to change the profile with tasker?
Thanks,
Dave

Finally found the answer for anyone looking for it.
Found the answer. The SOA Jedi ROM is based off of CyanogenMod and the profiles are part of that ROM. I picked up an app called Profile 4 Tasker+Widget that gives me the option to change the Profile now using the "Plugin" action category. This will save me from setting up all the different volume levels, and settings for each task.
Hi all,
I've put good several hours today trying to get BLN(back light notification) function working on my T989 to no avail. I understand the kernel in CM 10.1.2 doesn't support BLN, so today I flashed a new one that does. After that I installed BLN control. It does report that BLN status is enabled, but neither the test nor the real world uses lit up those 4 damned touch key LEDs.
In addition, I've also tried ButtonLED(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958939). It didn't work either because the "brightness" file needed couldn't be found or maybe just doesnt exist. the 5 files its auto search located didn't work of course.
I'd appreciate if some of you more skilled/experienced magnificent people could help me out. There are so many T989 users out there, I'm sure there're people who got bothered by the lack of notifications and figured out a work around. It doesnt have to be with these two apps, but I don't want to use apps that use the main LCD for notifications for battery life's reason.
Thanks ahead!
ROM: CM 10.1.2 stable release
Android version: 4.2.2
Kernel: 3.0.95-Uber-2.6 [email protected] #1 Sun Sep 8 18:35:50 EDT 2013 (UBER-OFFICIAL-Cl3Kener-Version-2.6-Hercules.zip) From here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230064

Can you pls elaborate how you get it working with trickster mod? there's a "LED Control" button but requires paid version. Is this it? there's also "Backlight Notification" toggle which I have set to on but is not doing anything.

The backlight notification toggle is the one I used. I am on Slim Bean 4.3 using Uber 2GHz with BLN though.
Not sure why it works for me and not you.
I wiped cache partition and dalvik cache, still no change....
I read somewhere on internet the ROM must also support BLN function. Could this be the cause?
Download trickster mod..swipe over to the last tab and you'll see an option for backlight notification...enable it and that's it

I've done all that, unfortunately it just didn't work. Are you on CM 10.1 with a kernel that supports bln? Or is there anyone with this setup who have gotten it to work?
Hi guys,
I would like to know if there's a possibility to display the battery status of a connected Bluetooth device on the Oneplus 3? Natively or via a third party app? Ideally for me, it should work on the stock ROM but if necessary I would flash a custom one if it would only be possible that way.
Thanks in advance :good:

Thanks for the suggestion but it doesn't seem to work with my specific pair of headphones :/ If that means that they don't send battery information to the phone I probably can't get it to work with any solution.

Sorry to hear that.
FWIW after suggesting the app to you, I did try it out. It seemed to work with my pair of blue tooth headphones during the limited time I used it..
Going by the comments about the app in the play store, it looks like the usage is limited based on the manufacturer of the blue tooth device....

how to enable that??? by default its not showing when connected......... im on latest beta

I didn't have to activate it. For me it just worked. Your Bluetooth device still has to support sending its battery information to the phone. In this months Open Beta update there were some fixes for this feature. Maybe it works for you now?
