Problem with downloading pictures through SMS - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

I have in the past two weeks received some pictures attached to SMS but I can not find the download files. I am not even sure if it does download them. I am using CM 7.2
Any ideas how to check if the system allows this, or where it places them.

1 You must have mobile data on
2 Turn off your wifi
3 Download your MMS
4 Your pic should be in /sdcard/download/$PICTURE_NAME.$EXTENSION (like kittie.jpg)
Ask your friends to send you an MMS and test it

Some carriers dont allow you to receive mms anymore as well.
Mine doesnt...

I receive a notice from my carrier usually the next day a MMS is sent and I can see them on a browser.
But I can't find the path Itachi mentioned, there is however a download folder in /mnt/sdcard/download but its empty, and I can only get to this folder through Astro!!

So, your providers allow you to see MMS just online...??
Weird stuff ><
If you don't receive it locally, no files will be downloaded...

Browsers do allow saving images... Long press on any image on a webpage & save it

Email Attachments

I recently added my work email to my phone. Since then I have received emails with attachments that I am unable to download because the file size is too large. Is there a fix for this? Maybe a setting somewhere that I'm missing? :banghead:

Are you using ActiveSync (Exchange) or are you using POP/IMAP?
If you are Using ActiveSync, are they pushing out policies to your phone? If so, they may have a limit on the size of the attachments that you can open from the phone.
I'm using exchange but there were no policy push to the phone.

Try downloading from the website if they have one instead of the app.
There is a setting on the email app that limits the max size email it will download. Change it to "all".

I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 with work email (exchange activesync) when I try to open larger PDF file say 12mb I get an error message that says "Unable to download. File size too large". This is not a compromise for me as I constantly was PDF with work and a lot of them can be quite large. I switched from iPhone 7 hate to admit but it had no problem opening these PDF's. Also, I have tried just about every other popular email app with no luck. PLEASE HELP so I don't have to switch back to iPhone.

Saving mms

Is there any way to get the stock messaging app to automatically change the file name when saving an mms? It promts me every time telling me to rename it or else it will overwrite the last one... Not the end of the world, but incredibly irritating.

No idea, but if you just want a convenient backup of your texts, this one seems them to your gmail. They'll be threaded weird and out of order, but easily searchable.
Oops, I can't post links yet. It's called SMS Backup+, available on the play market.

I do actually use that (and have been for quite awhile) its very handy for lots of reasons. I just like saving all of them to my phone too though.

I have the same problem, you can continue naming each individual picture with numbers you just randomly think of, its rare I repeated the same number. Or download a third party app like Handscent or Go SMS which just downloads the MMS without worrying about a particular designation. Every once in awhile you run across a Touchwiz rom that doesn't have this problem, but its usually a ASOP rom that just downloads MMS without this problem.

That's about what I figured. I used to use handcent but the stock app has made leaps and bounds over the years so I like sticking with that. I've been doing the random letters after going to save it, but in you ef up and do by chance pick something you already used, it will overwrite it.

Any update or solution to this issue? From what I remember my Samsung Epic 4G did not have this problem, as a matter of fact it did exactly what we are trying to get the Galaxy S3 to do by default. I find that this should have not been an issue, why on earth would someone NOT think to make this a basic function/feature?....

Non Saved Mms location

So this may seem like a weird question, but I'm having this problem where my mms pictures won't show in the app and won't download. Is there a location were the non saved mms (like not clicking save attachment) are saved?
Edit: I've found that in /data/data there's a provider folder from telephony, inside is app parts. Is that the only place to retrieve them?

How to export text messages

I'm running 4.1.2 and I created a folder and copied some texts to it within the messenger. Where is this folder stored? I'm trying to move them to an ad card and onto another phone.

Download a file manager from the play store and search the internal memory as well as the SD card for a folder that might contain the messages.
If you still can't find the backed up messages, then download an app from the play store that backs up messages, there's plenty of them on there.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but I can't ever recall being able to create folders and backup/export/import text messages from within the messaging app to the sdcard??
I am stock 4.1.2 and do not see this as an option. Nor have I ever, and I've looked! Only way I know to do this without an sms backup app is to copy the db file from telephony....If I've missed something I would definitely like to know!

Must be a Dandroid mod. I definitely have the option.

Anyone figure it out?

How to MMS animates gifs? Everytime I try and send one no matter what the size it tells me it's to big. Didn't have this problem with my iPhone 5 or my galaxy s4 but the note 3 just refuses to send them.

Do you need to MMS for that? I would just suggest using a cloud service like dropbox and giving the recipient the url link. Or you could do it through email. I have the same issue and I found no work around for it.
It's just more convenient to send it to them. Yes there are work sons but sometimes I just want to send a quick funny meme gif and I can't. It's just annoying.

I have no problem sending MMS.
I have no problem as well but I am on the latest Darthstalker rom. Only problem I ran across is I cant just copy the gif I have to save it on my device first then attach it and it will play.
