[Q] Revert to stock ROM - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi to all senior XDA.
I'm using rooted r800i GB 2.3.4, stock ROM with locked bootloader.
If I flash a custom ROM on my phone, may I revert back to my stock ROM?
I've already made a CWM backup.

Yes you can revert back by restoring your backup or flashing the stock ftf with flashtool. Make sure you only flash gb roms because other versions need an unlocked bootloader or youll have lots of problems

Thanks for the advice... :good: I will bear it in my mind...

[Q] Flashing back to stock via Flashtool

Hi everyone,
Sorry, quick confirmation question before I do anything. I have unlocked BL - going from SEMC 4.0.2.A.0.42 rom I flashed cm7.2 and doomkernel. I then moved on and flashed BlendMiui and doomkernel. Now I am thinking of trying an alpha ICS rom. It says I need to be on 4.0.2.A.0.42 rom.
Because that is where I originally came from, can I just go ahead and start flashing? Or do I need to reflash the stock rom before I start?
On a side note, if I just go and flash the stock rom through Flashtool, will my phone be back to pure stock?
Oh, and do I really need the latest Flashtool?
Cheers!
Better flash it to stock, just to be sure before flashing ICS.
And yes, flashing a stock fw will make the device pure stock

[Q] Going back to GB?

Hi all,
I'm currently on KA12 which is an ICS ROM, and running Darkforest ICS Kernel.
I would like to switch back to T.E.A.M Stock ROM, which is based on Gingerbread, and was wondering what steps would I need to do to go back?
Thanks in advance!

The best thing to do is to return to stock using the appropriate ftf file first. Then install the GB ROM of your choice.

Would it be okay to flash the 2.3.4 .62 SE Stock firmware found here?:
http://xperiagamer.com/Stock-Roms/234-stock-firmware-for-root.html
That'll work.
Then flash your rom.
ya you should also take advantage of nand droid backups. along with that one ftf u use you'll able to flash back and forth between roms (2.3.4/4.0.3) without loosing anything from previous roms you may have flashed. always do backups through cwm.

[Q] Downgrade from ICS

I have a nandroid backup of the .42 gb rom and im currently on stock ICS.
When i restore the .42 rom i cant start my wifi, as the kernal remains of ICS.
I have a locked bootloader, Arc S.
Can I just flash the kernal after restoring .42?
And can someone plz explain how i do this?
And if i need just a kernal file can someone plz gimme the link for it?
Thanx...
Use "repair phone" in PC Companion, it'll remove everything and flash rom, correct kernel etc.
Pc companion is not detecting my phone when i restore .42

Can u provide me with a .42 ftf ? Im sorry, cant seem to find one. Dont want to use wontan. Im stuck on ICS. Any help would be nice plz.
Most stock roms are here
Usually the resources for ARC/ARC S are in the "Xperia Arc General" Section
And from unlocked bootloader? Can do directly with FlashTool or first I have to flash the Stock Kernel?
Downgrade from nandroid
Hi,
I have a xperia neo....with rooted stock firmware .62 and unlocked bootloader (testpoint method)...I have taken a nandroid backup of it
I just wanted to try out ics...so planning to update using PCcompanion
Before updating...i just want to know
1. whether it's possible to downgrade to gb through cwm nandroid restore? Do I need to flash the kernel for .62 after the nandroid restore ?
2. will root access be restored after the downgrade? Since .62 is cannot be rooted, I'll have to flash .42 to get root access
I don't want to start restoring all the installed apps...hence thinking of using nandroid backup against flashtool

[Q] From ICS to GB

Hi, I intend to go back to my stock GB from stock ICS. I have currently rooted my ICS, do I install CWM on ICS and do a restore back to GB, or flash it back to GB first, install CWM and then restore? I have a locked bootloader. Thanks in advance.
If it was me (and I've done this a few times) I'd reflash GB using Flashtool and wipe everything. Backup your apps/data first using Titanium.
Make sure you use the .42 GB release though if you want root afterwards! You'll need to root using zergrush and you can install pvyparts CWM app from Google Play.
You could also try using Wotan instead of Flashtool if you have €2 spare. It's a simple enough process.
Hi, thanks for the reply. Do you have the link to the thread with .42 FTFs? I'm not too sure which to get.
Is this version rootable using Flashtool? (4.0.1.A.0.283) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1291517

[Q] going from (jb) to (ics)

hi everyone i wanted to know taht i am on aokp(jb) rom and i wanna go to a stock based(ics) without using flashtool.
any help will be appreciated.
The best way is the flashtool to return to stock, otherwise a stock based kernel and ROM in the same way you flashed AOKP.
Sent from Myushi
but most of the stock based roms said that i need the 587.baseband to install the rom. please let me know coz am in no mood to use flashtool
.587 is not a baseband, it's the stock 4.0.4 ICS firmware version (fully 4.1.B.0.587 iirc). Just download and flash via flashtool

ok i just wanted to make sure if their is any other way other then flashtool thanks.
Just flash the kernel, wipe everything, and install the ICS ROM you want. I came back to ICS from CM10 without flashing stock ftf, and no issues at all.
