Is it possible to have speech recognition on demand i.e. without user holding home button.
What I am trying to ask is, Can I enable speech recognition using Speech APIs from my app?

Is it possible to make the "Magnifying Glass" button activate Voice Recognition?
Ever since the new Swype beta caused the last hacked version of Swype with the voice recognition added stopped working, it's been more annoying having to switch keyboards just to get the voice button back.
So, I was wondering...is it possible to make the "Magnifying Glass" button activate Voice Recognition? That way, we can still use Swype and not have to switch keyboards anymore.
I dunno who those thicked-headed guys at Swype are but I do know many ppl have requested this very important button on their own website, but I guess they don't give a **** about listening to their customers.
Hello,
VLINGO works much more reliably for my voice recognition than google voice recognition for dialing.
Is there a way to update it to the newer VLINGO but default make it go to the car mode? I only want to use VLINGO for dialing by names from my contacts or by number e.g. dial 0118 999 881 999 119 725, 3.
The integrated one often just sits there once activated so you can say call home unless you tap the screen. I'd prefer not to have to look at my screen and tap to place a call while driving. It would be best if I could just tap my headset as I can with the integrated VLINGO. I tried installing the new VLINGO but it doesn't seem to activate when using my headset, it goes to the integrated one.
Thanks
Hi everyone, please help me with an issue. When I drive, my phone is connected to my bluetooth receiver. Problem is, when that happens, Android voice recognition does not seem to work. I would occasionally like to be able to dictate a text message, however the microphone seems to be disabled when I tap the mic button on the keyboard. This happens no matter what bluetooth headset I have connected. However, S Voice seems to turn the mic on, for voice recognition. So, is there any way for me to fix this and use Android's native voice recognition? I am running a stock rooted ROM and stock kernel. I appreciate all your suggestions.

Voice recognition timeout is too quick. Can this be adjusted? Can it be disabled or continuous? When I dictate any pause, catching your breathe stops the voice recognition. I wouldn't mind if it never times out.
Thanks,
