Xperia S official Jelly Bean! - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Hey guys! Checked Sony's support site today and found this. Seems like a pretty reliable source... Apparently it is to be released May 24th!
http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/software/phones/xperia-s/

But apparently it says April 24th

Did not notice that. But at least they edited the site so it's a very good sign either way. I assume they didn't write it without a reason.

No no, they screwed up the year. They mean 2014-04-24.

*grabs popcorn*

Ok, but someone have update?
My PCC from Poland have no update.
Slash from X Nozomi Aug.

Just wait a couple of days and if they didn't write it by mistake (which is very unlikely) you'll have it soon

It really must be coming soon then, it had .45 as the latest until recently.

They said it would be released at the last week of May. It's only the 3rd week, its only a few days away.

Don't you see? The leak is the official, but they're too lazy to announce anything about it. Lmao.

conversation
I have just finished my conversation with a Sony representative from Sony chat support, i allready knew the fact that JB for Xperia S was not released, but still, i was playing stupid to find out some more info about the new build that appears on sony offical page. Here is what i asked them:
Hello dear Sony. I'm a new Xperia S user, just jumped from a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, i really like your phone, but i have a question. My phone is contract free, unlocked, but i only have ICS 4.0.4 android on it (6.1.A.2.55 build). As i can see from your support page, a new build is available from 24 of april, build 6.2.A.0.200, and i think it's Jelly Bean. I really would like to install this update so i can fix many bugs and lags in my phone, but my phone doesn't recieved the OTA update yet, and PC companion says i have the latest firmware. Can you please tell me how to update to the latest build?
And the full conversation on chat that followed:
Luke: Hi Cornel, thank you for contacting Sony Xperia UK Chat Support. My name is Luke, please could I take your full name and email address?
Cornel Atomei: my name is Cornel Atomei
Cornel Atomei: my email adress is ...
Cornel Atomei: hi Luke
Luke: Thank you for providing me with this information, Please could you confirm which model of phone you have and which network it is on?
Cornel Atomei: Sony Xperia S LT26i
Luke: Thank you for providing me with this information, please bear with me one moment while I read through the query you posted.
Cornel Atomei: i'm on Vodafone Romania
Luke: Thanks.
Luke: I can confirm that this model is planned to receive the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean version.
Luke: Currently, the information we have regarding timings are as follows:
Luke: "We’ve heard your questions and know you guys are keen to hear about updates for Xperia S, Xperia SL, Xperia ion and Xperia acro S – these smartphones are next in line to start receiving Sony’s Android 4.1 software from the end of May"
Luke: All info can be found on our blog
Cornel Atomei: so it is not released yet?
Luke: Not yet for this model of handset no.
Cornel Atomei: so the info on sony mobile is wrong
Cornel Atomei: 'cause it says there that a new build is available since 24 april
Luke: Which data?
Luke: That would be the most up to date version of software for this handset, however the date on this is wrong and this has been raised.
Cornel Atomei: the data on sony mobile website regarding firmware for Xperia S
Cornel Atomei: it says there that for xperia s, the latest firmware is 6.2.A.0.200
Cornel Atomei: i still have 6.1.A.2.55
Luke: this would be getting rolled out gradualy like all our updates.
Cornel Atomei: so the new update has not begun to roll since 24.04,2013
Cornel Atomei: i understand
Luke: That date would be incorrect and we are raising this internally but the Jelly Bean update is due to be released before the end of this month and you will receive a notification on you handset letting you know it is available.
Cornel Atomei: maybe somewone could correct the info on sony mobile website, so you won't have to deal with this akward request
Cornel Atomei: thank you for your info Luke
Luke: OK Cornel. Thank you for using the Sony Xperia Chat Support today. Have a nice day
Cornel Atomei: Have a nice day
I dont know how well informed was the support representative, but as we see from his answer, they are still saying JB will be released this month, so hang on to your waranties and wait for official rom, it's comming (soon i hope)

I don't think they are too lazy to announce the news. Everyone loves good news.
IMO, they was just testing and waiting for everything to be ready before saying something.
What if they told you that they will release the firmware on 24-April-2013 but they couldn't deliver it on time?

My friend this notice is in Sony Blog since May 20th, and says APRIL 24 !!!! NOT May !!!
Regards

It is getting a little childish here, I admit,
first I thought why would Sony screw up an important date and then it's gotta be May 24 and JB and still say: Hey Babies, stop crying!!
But then I thought: wait a minute: if this is right, it IS April 24 then why does nobody have this version ??? (because I don't...)
Let's be adults and wait until tomorrow...
(pure UK Chat support getting all of us ****ers....)

Tried to update from Sony PC Companion. Got a 'Server not accessible' error. We must be pretty close. Never expected to be this excited to get a year old OS update

ICS rollout stopped??

hi there, hope im in the right place but looking for some info but i cant seem to find any from the horses mouth so thought id ask someone in the know here.
i currently have a 2011 xperia arc and have been eagerly awaiting the ics update, my numbers not in their klist yet but whats doing my head in is the fact the keep updating their blog but no releases have been issued since 31/05/2012?
has android/sony stopped rolling out does anyone know? because they cannot seem to give any answers?
many thanks
wait...
Just wait
The update will be out soon~
why dont you just use some custom rom's o.o?
on Sony Mobile site they are saying it will be released soon.
I'm just using JJRom anyway, working fine, based on Sony ICS 4.04
Have a bit of patience. It's only rolled out to a few places as of yet. We've waited for many months for the ICS update. Surely a few weeks ain't that big a deal.

Xperia T is the their flagship and annoyingly it is cheaper in the UK than what the S was.
No .50 for Generic UK
Stock UK here and 6.1.A.2.50 just showed up. I had previously put the latest Italian ICS rom on though - later than the 453 one so that might have been why.
Still no UK Generic
Is there anyone who can upgrade via PC Companion and post the fw? Or just the files PC Companion downloads? Then I can decrypt them myself

Yeah update information at Xperia Blog. But I think Sony needs to confirm the official JB update for Arc/ S also Xperia 2011 series asap, or they'll lose their fans coz they're becoming more & more impatient
Dunno about us but for 2012 device s rollout will start from November

JB update doesn't really matter for me =j there's not many and significant differentiating factors, especially on such an old processor. I'll probably get the sola or s later this year or next year

Sony Mobile Germany announce Jelly Bean Rollout

Hello Guys,
Sony Mobile Germany announces yesterday on Twitter(https://twitter.com/sonyxperiade) the rollout for the Jelly Bean Update for our lovely XS.
They said it will begin in late March, so they keep their promise from Christmas Update Timetable.
best regards
Nils
late march probabaly means on the 31st for one cda then it will be another 3 weeks before the rest get it and that way they will say we did say we will release it in march and we did.
I hope you´re not right, but my Xperia S is an german generic so I think I`am one of the first who get it.
Already posted:

Until Sony announce it I won't be believing it. That claim is very easy to make and could be a hoax.
I am going to contact sony right now and see if this is true. Wish me luck
lol... the callers who pick our calls at the sony centre are really dumb. they don't know anything. they dont even have any idea whats going in sony in present.. how can they tell what will take place in future
p.s... don't believe them!!
I think this is joke
The thing we can do for now is to wait if this rumor will be true.
Will be Android 5 with full ARM ,not 4.4. )))
Sony replied to my email. Sorry guys it's bad news. They say that the xperia m could get the 4.4 update, just not any time soon. Looks like we will be waiting a while. They also stressed the word "could", so they are still unsure if they should do it or not.

ART, Immersive Mode, better RAM managment(atleast that's what they say). Anyway, it's ok, but it isn't anything special. Also, Immersive mode is sometimes pain in the ass, since pulling down will show status bar and nav bar, so it was quite annyoing for me when i acidentally pulled them down in certain apps and games.
