hi there, hope im in the right place but looking for some info but i cant seem to find any from the horses mouth so thought id ask someone in the know here.
i currently have a 2011 xperia arc and have been eagerly awaiting the ics update, my numbers not in their klist yet but whats doing my head in is the fact the keep updating their blog but no releases have been issued since 31/05/2012?
has android/sony stopped rolling out does anyone know? because they cannot seem to give any answers?
many thanks
wait...
Just wait
The update will be out soon~
why dont you just use some custom rom's o.o?
on Sony Mobile site they are saying it will be released soon.
I'm just using JJRom anyway, working fine, based on Sony ICS 4.04
Have a bit of patience. It's only rolled out to a few places as of yet. We've waited for many months for the ICS update. Surely a few weeks ain't that big a deal.

I'm too much of a noob to try it and to be honest I probably wouldn't know where to start.
I based my op on the assumption that the list hadn't been updated for days,it has now but, my si is still not there :-( lok

Sounding like that, you may be hard-pressed to find anyone who will.
Posted from something awesome
That's a very rude way to ask for something.. good luck finding someone to help you!

Um...... 2 things.
1. you could ask nicely "if" work is being done to gain root to these two firmwares
2. its quite possible that devs are working on it but have yet to find a way to gain root access........
And the moral of this write up.......... politeness goes a long way..... asking like an a$$hole gets the opportunity doors slammed in your face.... seriously if you are not happy about "WHY THE HELL HAS NO ONE GOT OFF THEIR LAZY A***'S AND TRIED TO FIND A METHOD, then how about YOU find out how to do these things so YOU can do it your self.
There is a method that's the funny thing, I'm not saying anymore.

The real answhere is: NO ONE CARES A FU*K ABOUT LOCKED BOOTLOADER. Just unlock. Than you flash Doomkernel and you have root. Always on newest Firmware.
Locked Bootloader sucks in many ways.

Your age is not an excuse. Stop hiding from your dumbass mistakes. I had more sense and was more polite than you when I was 12. You used a similar defence when accusing me of copying your status bar. Stupidity is not limited to age and ill mannered logic definitely is NOT. There's also a roundabout method of rooting the .62 firmware(.69 is german only according to xperia blog) which if you cared to research would've found.

That forum isn't for asking, this was the right place to post for that. Just saying.
But yea, just wait for an official ftf file. It'll come eventually!

You really think it will ever get that cold? (As in "When Hell freezes over...")
I think we R800x owners have a better chance of seeing ICS from our devs here than we will from Big Red.

good job google. that's the way it should be done
Agree, but do you think they're talking Jellybean by this Thanksgiving or next? Seems like an awful ambitious schedule for this one when most of us are still trying to get official ICS?

Where was it posted I didn't see anything about it? and I didn't realize you were the great arbiter of what is needed?
Why jump straight to 5.0? Why not develop what they have a bit more and go for Jelly Bean 4.1?
There is only one thread in the android development section for the ion. Whats stopping people from hacking this phone (other than the bootloader)
What's stopping you?

This has been answered before. What's stopping people from hacking this phone is that this phone is relatively new. It had just came out on the market for almost a month and the developers may have not been able to purchase the phone yet.

Just to add to this, the bootloader is almost everything and Sony fixed Gingerbread so that it cannot be exploited using the old fashion means, which means either we develop new means or wait for ICS that we have a new way to exploit.
It may also be that many devs are working on the new more powerful phones, any Sony is really a small underground community. I promise when I get an ion I'll start developing.

Another reason is that everyone is waiting for ICS, why bother to develop for GB when ICS is coming in like 1-2 month.
You'll start seeing custom roms as soon as we get CyanogenMod support from Fxp

I called the dev allocation line, they said definitely maybe we may or may not get some dev support.
I hate being the troll here but why, why ask this same question that others have and further bloat this forum, when no one knows when a Rom is coming.

We do have "some" dev support or we wouldn't have CWM, root and several mods.
Thank you all who have gotten us this far.
Hi everyone,
I have Sony ericsson xperia arc S. Today when installed PC Companion it asked me to update to ICS ?
I was looking on google and saw that some people said that update is good, in other hand some said that it's bad because of lagg ?
Android Version : 2.3.4
Build Number : 4.0.2.A.0.42

Oh, no. I didn't saw that "O" in arcO :S What should i do now? Should i post in right forum, or wait to moderators to move this thread ?
My mother has a Arc S and it is on the latest ics 4.0.4. and it works good. Yes sometimes it lags but my xperia S does that also sometimes. I dont mind.
My advice is: just update, and if it is to laggy for you then you can always flash GB back (search arc s forum how to.)
I hope this helps?
it's not arco s, it's acro s
@OP
In the future you can just report your post and a mod like myself will move the thread to the appropriate forum or section.

I can make decision, that's not a problem.
I wanted to see if someone from this forum have ICS and how does it work ?
Well, what I can tell, on my Xperia Pro, when I updated to ICS, it was running great until I installed many apps (which were running great on GB), because of ICS using more RAM, then I had to use some auto task killers, and so on.. But as power323f said, you can always flash back.

Like this Sticky in General titled ICS GENERAL- For discussion on the ICS update
I had 4.0.4 before i changed it for a custom rom. Still, for arc s, it doesnt lag very much and for the extra features on the ICS I would probably update it
