[Q] 4G LTE ROMS (Can I Help?) - 8.9" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I see there are no developers with a 4g version of the KFHD 8.9". Is there anything I can do to help make this work. I can do any actions to test and send back logs if someone tells me how to generate the info needed to diagnose. If someone can help me help all the LTE people out there, that'd be great

I really really really want a LTE version of CM10.1. Hashcode is great to bring us the wifi version and I am using it on a daily basis. But can we have a LTE version? Anybody?
New here, and I can't post on the development forum yet...

nobody cares about this?

People care, just very few Reason being our community is all ready really small. Then there is a small 5% that has the lte variant. Hashcode said the libs and apns are setup for the lte version on his cm10.1.

hey, we need to keep lobbying, don't we?

I would very much like a working lte version. I tried hashcodes cm and there was no mobile network support. I am here to help test too.

What can we do to make this happen?

Ditto...
.. It seems like there are more and more 4G LTE Kindle Fire HD customers who would LOVE an LTE version of hascodes 'wifi' only ROM.
Lets do this
Thanks for all developers help, past, present and future!

Try this, hashcode made it, and I think it works, you probably have to manually put you APN settings in though, I don't know much about internet on phones so you will have to figure it out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2391776

A help thread

Hey everyone!
Some of you may know me, or of my work (RobotoMOD, ParanoidAndroid Port), those of you who do know me may also know me by my actual name: Ivan. I don't mind which you call me
More to the point of the thread, I'm making this for anyone who has any questions or comments about anything, it doesn't have to be dev related - it could be a question about Android in general, or if there are apps out there that can do something you want your phone to do, or it could just be that you want to chat.
Whatever it is, post it here. If you feel your thread in the Q&A section isn't getting the attention it requires, I will do my best to answer it to the best of my ability, and in plain, simple English for those who have English as a second language. If it's chatting you're after, or just want to leave a comment, do so! And I'll be sure to make conversation and make new friends with the people I share the same device with.
I generally check the forums every 20-30 minutes when I'm on my computer, and every couple of hours when I'm on my phone - except for when I'm really busy and can't check, so you can be (almost) sure that you'll receive a reply to your post within a day.
Go! :victory:
This maybe a good plan but I personally would want to discourage people from posting questions in the general section....... It is to help them use their eyes and brains before posting anything

As far as I know, there aren't even AOSP ROMs for marvel.
I see cm7 and cm9 which is pure aosp, but they say the marvelc isn't getting much love, or isn't as stable as the gsm version

I think you're a bit confused. CM7 and CM9 aren't pure AOSP. AOSP is Android Open Source Project - that's vanilla Android as Google makes it. CM (CyanogenMod) is a custom ROM that's based on AOSP, adding features and other things. There's CM9 for marvelc, in the same thread as for marvel, and to my knowledge it's pretty stable, but since the dev has a marvel and not a marvelc, he can't test out bugs. I'm not sure about CM7 though.
CM7.2 RC1-marvel-KANG - Wireless N function not available?
Hi,
This is a repost, but I haven't had a response so I thought I'd ask you, seeing as you have made such a kind offer of assistance. I would have asked in the Development section, but I don't have enough posts yet to ask there.
I have a Wildfire S (a510b GSM Australian Telstra base phone) on which I have installed the CM7.2 RC1-marvel-KANG ROM.
I do not appear to be able to see any Wireless N WIFI connections, I think it is a radio issue and that I might need to flash a new radio. However I do not know anything about radio firmware or where to get the correct radio for my phone to allow WIFI N?
What would I need to do to get wireless N working on CM7, it worked on the the stock HTC Sense before I flashed the CM7 ROM?
Many thanks for your help!

I will try it!

I DON'T know many about MLO and xloader partition what's in the update-script.
I wonder whether we can modify the update-script according to 6.3.1's ?
Please don't try flashing the original Amazon 2nd gen file. I'll see what I can do w/ the ROM using our existing 3.0 kernel when I get time.
It would be even more fantastic if you guys might can use the new ics stock's kernel to fix the charging detector problem, it's ics right? Is it possible?

Can you give me some advise to modify the updater-script of the 2nd gen file?
it needs to flash MLO, needs to read xloader partition.

This is what I'm waiting for myself. The differences in hardware and partition table make this an exercise in futility when a device specific version is probably not to far off.

I also do not think Amazon will do anything for kindle fire. It is simply not an aspect of their business plan. You and I play with the hardware like it is hardware. Amazon is looking at sales from subscribers. This is why a diminished is works for them, but not for us.

That might actually be in our favour, if they are selling the fire at the bare minimum price and their target is selling their digital goods, then they have no reason not to continue to cater to all their user base. Since better software makes users more inclined to just stick with Amazon and continue consuming.
Of course one never knows, so take this as just my 2 cents.

Yes It would be great if you make tutorial of how to run the amazon launcher on cm10-cm9... since hashcodes kernel is stable now i don't want to move to anything else

Cm10.1 LTE. Let's get it working 100%.

First of all, I'm not completely sure what's changed in transition to 4.1.2 to 4.2+, but LTE, while coverage is roughly the same, pulls nearly ~60% of the speeds available.
It's not just Touchwiz vs aosp, either. I have flashed Cm10 based on aosp 4.1.2 and have been able to pull more than 30mpbs on LTE. I know this is possible on cm10.1, but you'd have to be in the perfectly ideal location.
I've compared APN settings and even flashed the cm10 APN settings onto cm10.1. No dice. I want to see what others think the issue is.
What has changed in the RIL and is it possible to copy it over from 4.1.2 into 4.2.2?

I think that launcher is integrated with system, like sense rosie launcher, so it can't stand alone without the rest of the system parts...would work with a full rom port...

I've wondered about this launcher as well... for me it would be for the sake of trying something different.
the fire HD launcher looks to be a little more "kid friendly" than the stock nexus launcher, and the scrolling apps and media are kinda neat.

[Q] [T217S]Installed CM11 and GPS now doesn't WORK

Hello All,
I have researched and researched and now i have given up. I have installed CM11 for my SM-T217S, love the rom super fast and all but one bad thing....my GPS seems not to be working properly. I use Waze for GPS and the main purpose for this tab purchase was so that i can use it as a navi.
Please note that i have installed apps to reset, restore, reconfigure the GPS but nothing seems to work. Tried re-flashing a thousand times from clean to dirty wiping. Even other apps such as TelNav and Maps won't work either.
Can someone share some light on how i can get this GPS issue resolved? :victory::good: now im currently using stock TW in which is slow and old fashioned :crying:

GPS is a bug known by the dev, but I think he gave up on fixing things. So what we got is what we will ever have. I don't use the gps or cameras so I'm OK with it.

Well I didn't test the Nav, but walked around my complex and looked like it didn't budge. I'll try the Nav later before I go to sleep.
The one I've flashed is cyanogenmod version 11-20140416 that was taken down. The other is 1110140408 that's in general. Biggest giveaway of the two is the mobile network switch right under Bluetooth and WiFi switches. If you don't have a recent build I'll see what I can do about uploading somewhere.

I'm hoping to build pacman for it. If I can get her done, I'll start a thread. I have someone helping me with a kernel with wake gestures as well. We'll see how lucky I get with either.

Well I have the rom. I'm just learning about building and I have a couple friends helping but I don't get why it would be taken down. Especially the device tree if there is one. Wouldn't that be on the cm site? I believe if that's there then the rest should be fairly easy. Do you know, is the device codename p1? Or what the codename is? I know the model number but I think there should be a codename by which to find it on cm. I installed a nightly for the p1 and it didn't break anything fit what that's worth if anything. I'll deff drop a post in here if I come up with anything. If anyone has any info at all that you think might help, even if you think it might not help or aren't sure if it's right, let me know. Anything about this device seems to be so ambiguous it's unreal.

Sorry dude but unfortunately there's really nothing atm. Only a whole bunch of TW roms in which in reality is still stock just rooted. We did had a themed one before but that was taken down.
Even tw ROMs are scarce. The one bad seed one looks pretty good but Wi-Fi doesn't work.
