ok so this is fairly light usage, but it's to show that cm10.1 is finally sleeping properly when your not using it, i had about 1.5 hours of screen time and activity when the screen was off also but the phone went back to sleep properly, i clearly used plenty of wifi and i was out and had data on for a while too, this is from stock cm10.1 kernel i might try a similar usage pattern on wind and see what the difference is.
i think it is from the nightly cm-10.1-20130519-NIGHTLY-p930.zip but it could possibly 20
i have a brightness toggle that turns brightness very low when indoors and back to around 165 outside, also have a 240 if its real bright out. most of this is low or 165

I've noticed this myself, I just wish my phone would play well with 10.1. I can run any cm10.1 Rom for about 3 days before it stops booting or just generally releasing the gremlins in full force. I attribute it to the fact that I have one of the first nitros from December 2011, but still.. I was thoroughly shocked about the battery consumption those 3 days I used it.

I seem to have that same problem. Try a nightly or a recent CM10.1 build like Pac-Rom, works great for a few days and then the reboots start. And then it's back to CM10 for me.

I've got a 1st run Dec 2011 Nitro as well. I recently yanked the Hyperion extended battery I got for it and went back to the stock battery...I've still got plenty more testing and time needed to verify things, but thusfar I believe some of the blame for the weak battery life and also some of the instability can be attributed to that Hyperion coming to an end of its' useful life.
If you've been having a lot of battery and/or instability issues and have been using a 3rd party battery...Try going back to stock and see if that helps at all.

cheap ebay batteries tend to undervolt too, in order to get the amount of capacity they lie to say they are getting, while the stock battery gets it without undervolting...

I seriously thought about getting a nexus 4, but the lack of sd card expansion makes it less enticing. I've been following the s4 threads and have read they have some pretty absurd battery life for all the power they have.

Hi
I saw post (in russian) that you can put battery from lg 4x or lg l9 (they have same model of battery).
I'm personally holding out for the Note3...But it's not due to even be announced until Sept, let alone who knows when it actually hits the street in the US. It'll be interesting to see how the 8 core (4 cores for performance, 4 cores for low-power) handles the whole power to performance balance.

My Desire Z has been a battery killer recently. I have tried different radios and roms and it still sucks excessive power. Even on Airplane mode battery monitor widget was giving ~50mah per hour drain with the screen off.
I have both a stock battery and a Mugen 1800ma battery and this seems excessive. I checked and there were no applications keeping the phone awake either. At work with minimal usage my phone easily drains over 30% of the Mugen battery. Signal isn't a problem either because I work 280 metres away from a Bell cell tower and have full signal at work all the time. I'm starting to think that something is wrong with my phone.

I had a similar problem with a stock battery of mine and ended up recalling it with my phone provider and they shipped me a new one. They (T-Mobile) said "not all batteries were created equal" and that sometimes even without water-damage, certain batteries lose their shelf-life much faster than others.
Since you're telling us that both your stock and your after-market are draining at a near equal pace regardless, this might be an indicator that it isn't your battery.
I had to return my original G2 to T-Mobile because of hardware malfunctioning in several areas, namely the audio mechanisms. If you're using a relatively new phone, and/or a refurbished phone, I wouldn't be surprised if you are experiencing similar problems.

use SuperWipeG2(+) and Guhl's EFS GPS fix available here before flashing G-lite
Have you tried calibrating? Charging to full, wiping batt stats, discharging/charging back to full uninterrupted? The link below is a great calibration tool.... very convenient. I wipe stats after every ROM flash and keep an eye on CPU/RAM usage with Watchdog lite. Battery life is always good.

how long does the battery last for aprox in standby and with regular use. if it dies faster then 3days on standby or less then a day with regular use there may be an issue im just wanting to know the time span of your battery....
also i had hardware issues with the g2 too. my radio sucked balls, i couldnt even keep signal in a call longer then 3 seconds and my wifi would just cut out for periods of hours at a time... im wondering if the manufacturing is becoming sloppy and they might be lacking quality control. i admit there is a lot to the phone but simple things like battery quality and signal quality should be checked regularly.
with the g2 i frequently hear things like this, battery, screen failures or behind the screen cracks, unresponsive touch screen and black spots, bad radio signals, color leakage and most commonly issues with the keyboard.

Well if battery monitor widget is correct my phone would last 26 hours in airplane mode (36 with my mugen battery) with the screen off (I tested this with almost every user app uninstalled)
Edit:
Considering there was a guy who left his old Hero with CM7 in airplane mode and that it lasted for 30 days before the battery died... I find this quite discouraging

The wonky touch screen is due to the "cube" charger that came with the phone. I bought a cheap Samsung wall charger and it charges just fine now.
My Android OS usage is remarkably low, actually. Lower than any Android I've owned before. I can last a bit over 24 hours on battery with mild use.
I do. I use to worry about it, now I don't really care because I can still get 15 hours on my battery.
I didn't have it for the first few days but I do now. The thing is with moderate use I still pull over 18+ hours on my phone even with AOS being the top on usage. While I dislike this the battery life I'm getting I really can not complain to much. First phone I can leave in the morning without having to worry about bringing my charger with me while I'm in classes cause my phone will be close to dying by the time I leave.

AOS is usually the 2nd highest thing (below the display) on my usage list, but I'm able to last 24 hours on a charge, so I don't consider it a problem.
Remember the usage stats are out of 100%, so even if the AOS uses little to no power, if it is the only thing drawing power it's going to be high on the list.

My AOS % is usually/often #1 or #2 on the list in the 30% plus range -- even when I use other apps heavily that would generally be near the top. Even with that, though, I can easily use the phone for two days if I use it lightly. I barely used the phone yesterday as I just made a couple of calls and sent a handful of texts/emails. After 18 hours, I was still around 60% battery remaining. I could have simply used the phone again today without charging and it certainly would have made it through the day.
I don't think AOS is being reported accurately, but that's my .02. If it really WAS using that much power, my phone would have been toast in just a few hours.

Pretty sure most people with room arnt experiencing it after reading everythread since launch on sprint. Definately almost every isn't on stock. If your fine stock you should be fine rooted
Never had a problem with it, my battery life is outstanding. 24h on average standby maybe 9-14h moderate use and 7-9h of heavy use.
I've seen so many threads here and at The Verge that I just don't understand. I've been using Android devices now for about two years and I've NEVER had a problem with battery life being worse than my iPhones. I have a 3GS and the battery on it dies after about 8-10 hours of moderate use. Meanwhile, I'm at 12 hours on my SGS3 and 50% battery. I also have quite a lot of applications running in the background. Granted, today I have been low usage, but yesterday I was on the phone for hours and I still went 12 hours before the battery icon turned yellow. I haven't HAD to recharge before 12 hours for ages, even my Atrix went longer than that. I even have a screenshot from a few days ago where I went 14 hours and only dropped to 63%.
Are people just nuts or what is going on here?
People expect to play games at max brightness for hours and still get 12 hours battery life.
In with you, I use my phone constantly through out the day, I run my business from my phone, and routinely get 14+ hours per charge no problem. I just made a few tweaks, nothing big, and I'm good to go. This phone lasts noticeably longer than all my previous iPhones 3,3g and 4. Plus it charges twice as fast as those and never over heats... all my iPhones would get so hot that I couldn't charge them in the car with out testing then in an ac vent, and that's just from half an hour to an hour of talking... sgs3, I can talk for hours with no overheating, and it charges like a boss.

Neither one of my galaxy phones overheated to where they shut off until one decided it was dirty and jumped in the washer(rip 1st sgs2) .
I had changed my iPhone 4 back glass to one of those metal backs. Now when its on charge it will almost burn your hand if ur holding it. And I have had it shut off while on Facebook. Battery never last very long on I phones if the brightness is up data going WiFi seeking and jbing.

I think some phones came with defective batteries. I'm running juice defender and could easily make it through a 16 hour day. 3-4 hours of screen time was not uncommon. 3 months later, and I can barely get 10 hours of use and 1.5 hours of screen time. Time to get a new battery!

I am not sure what is going on. I don't have the best battery life I can get 10 to 12 hours moderate use. Steaming music, reading rss feeds, checking email, 2 to 3 hours screen on. I would easily last a day on my iPhone 4. I have juice defender, lowest screen setting, custom kernel with under volting. I think it has something to do with my area. Att is so congested in my area I am barely able to use data sometimes. It's better with lte but still an issue at times.

People use their phones differently. Just saying.
If I don't turn the screen on, with LTE data, my phone dies in 9 hours (I tested it). And this doesn't mean there's a problem with it. I have around 15 different push notification apps running in the background, all of which are using data almost continuously. I don't think I can expect it to last much longer. And if I know I'm not going to be near a power source for longer than that, I simply turn off syncing to get better battery life.
To me, it looks like the LTE radio is the biggest battery hog. Let's see if the iPhone 5 can somehow get around this problem so that other manufacturers can take note

I was going to mention this. I noticed a significant improvement in battery life once I used JuiceDefender to turn off data while my screen is off. 4G LTE is the main culprit of most of the complaints for battery life (in addition to brightness). That is going to be a big problem for the new iphone if they can't get the battery management for 4G correct. It has taken Samsung a couple of years to get the battery working decent with 4G. I have my doubts that Apple could top them the first year running LTE on the iphone. Who knows, maybe that will be the "new" feature they have been working on over the year, LTE power management. That's the direction Motorola has headed in their new RAZOR MAXX devices. We'll see, either way, the consumer comes out on top as we have more competition to drive down prices and receive better products each year.
Best battery life for SGS3
With AMOLED and Android u gotta take special measures to get good battery life:
- kill bloatware. NostalgiaTurboSlim script will help. Or freeze unneeded apps - like Maps and enable them only when needed.
- disable various notifications - Play Market, WiFi etc
- disable ads - root and download AdAway app - they steal your mobile traffic, battery life and make you blind!
- put dark nonLive Wallpaper
- remove any widgets you don't use. I just removed all of them.
- disable animations and transitions
- disable haptic feedback
- disable touch tones/sounds/vibrations
- try using nonAuto brightness (I gave up on that - sunlight does not allow me to change anything manually)
- disable autorotation
- use dark Opera browser user.css
- use inverted or dark themed apps and Gapps, there is dark MMS, Twitter and Facebook in my ROM
- downclock CPU to 1GHz, or enable PowerSave On.
- use modern KToonsez kernel with PegasusQ governor, it downclocks CPU during screen off
- use CPU1 disabler script if your ROM/kernel supports it
- keep chargers around you, buy them at amazon
- buy spare OEM battery - I'm against aftermarket batteries, they are all fake rated
Or just buy latest iPhone 5 and enjoy.
Remember: Android is for tinkerers! That's why we love it! :victory:
Why do people still use some sort of battery management app life JuiceDefender or the like.
GET RID OF THEM NOW !(most of you that use it are probably coming over from an Iphone so you may be new but aren't well educated in how the Android OS works)
This phone comes with its own Task Manager as well as removing unwanted apps that are running in the background that you have previously used and don't need running.
So get rid of these dumb apps that don't do anything.

Leave ICS and get back on GB.
Ive had this phone since the day it came out. Switched to ICS once the developers started dropping ICS leaks, etc.
For the past 2 weeks for some reason, Ive had nothing but HORRIBLE and i mean HORRIBLE battery life. Phone would not last me more than 4-5 hours of heavy use. I'd have to carry around my portable battery pack to charge the phone on the go. I did everything to my knowledge to try and conserve battery life. CPU tweaks, battery monitoring, tried different ROMs, Kernels, Modems, etc, etc. Nothing would significantly improve battery life. I even went ahead and ordered a new battery last week to remedy this problem (which has not yet been delivered/used)
2 Days ago I flashed back to Blazer 4.0 ROM (GB).
I unplugged my phone yesterday morning at exactly 7:30am. Did not step back into my house until 530 which at that point I was at 35% and had been using my phone all day as I normally would. Web browsing, tons of texts, Used Navigation for about 2 hours, etc. I did not plug my phone to the charger until 10pm. Phone was on 19% then. Mind you, this is on the first day of the Phone being on a new ROM/GB so the battery has not yet settled/calibrated as Its only been charged Once since flashing over.
I refuse to switch back to ICS for the sole reason that battery levels have obviously improved with something as simple as switching back to GB.
Just a heads up for anyone with ICS on their E4GT having issues with battery life.
If only I got a dollar for all the times a thread like this is made.. I'd be rich. Blah blah ICS sucks yes we know... So far my phone must be a super phone because it's handling ICS well.

I agree with you, Ray. I'd also be rich for every time I've read of E4GT owners who's phones are running ICS with no problems. But then theres the bunch who also complain that they have problems. I never stated ICS sucks. At this point these phones are old by today's standards. Be glad you're one of the ones who's running ICS with no issues. I for one will stay on GB until I switch to a new carrier/new hardware sometime soon.
Just thought I'd give some feedback of my experience with battery issues on ICS in comparison to then switching back to GB.
I don't know if you've tried Blazers ICS ROM, but that thing has some AMAZING battery life. I've been running it for a few weeks now, everyday I get at least 12 hours of moderate to heavy use, without my own tweaks, and by the time I connect to charger I'm at 35%
Arguments apart
i have a few friends all on this or that ICS and none of them is happy with the backup
whatever its a fact ICS goodness never really reached E4GT, lets hope FI03 onwards some sense prevails at those losers at sammy and they push something which we can smile about.
FYI i am also on ICS Rom , still in testing phase after getting my new white beast 10 days back , already tried like 3 , each for three days
running galaxy 1.8 since yday and hoping it shapes well otherwise i ll also move back to GB
I've tried multiple ICS rooms and I've always gotten great battery life (14+ hours with 3+ hours screen on time).
The only times I've ever had battery life issues were when a certain app was the culprit and was keeping my phone from deep sleep or causing frequent wakes, which is almost always the case with poor battery life issues.
Check out an app called GSAM Battery.. it will tell you what is using up your battery in easy to read graphs and percentages. Also, check out CPU Spy to see if your phone is actually going to deep sleep mode when you turn your screen off--again, it shows you in an easy to read chart with times in each state.

Cm9b1 is the only rom that even came remotely close to gb battery life. Only thing wrong it for me was I couldn't get GPS working

I got over 30 hours last weekend with light use, but the next day, my battery would drain 5 to 10 percent per hour with no use. I have all the utilities to track what's happening, but cannot find a definitive cause. Poor reception seems to be a factor, but not the whole story.
EDIT: I just installed GSam. Thanks for the tip!
Try the Re-Calked FI03 and tell me ICS sucks....this things is as good if not better than Calkulins v3 GB rom....the ONLY other rom i have ever liked.... :good:

Maybe you should've posted this after receiving and using your new battery. My phone had horrible battery life after a while on ICS but it turned out that it was in fact the battery and not ICS. Got a new battery and it is back to 18 hours a day (on ICS)

Only the stock ICS rom is garbage with poor battery life and stupid stuff like grey text on black back ground. I have ran several custom ROMs and they all provided better battery life. As I have said before, I got 99 problems but battery life ain't one of them. You must be doing it wrong.

Still waiting for the new battery to arrive. I would love to try it but I'm in the midst of a heavy usage of Verizon PRL on my phone. Sprint doesn't like heavy roaming users from what I've been reading. Sprint 3G in my neighborhood here in NYC sucks Donkey nuts. I can cross the street and get 3 bars more than I have sitting on my front porch. But thats a whole other topic of discussion.
Im not sure why my phone couldnt play well with ICS but it really was horrible. I consider myself a heavy user and ICS couldnt keep up with battery demands. I tried undervolting, etc. Oh well. Been eyeing the SGS3 or the upcoming SGNote 2. Time will tell.
So far 3 days on Blazer 4.0. All my apps are restored via TB and no issues with battery like I had on ICS. Don't really know what else to say. :good:
My phone would last a week on cupcake

I'm getting 24+ hours on standby time. I have gotten about 18 hours with about 3 hours of screen time. Facebook and GBA emus. I wasn't able to do this since GB. I have done this by doing one simple thing. Turning off data. I kid you not. Utilize that data toggle. I know at first you're thinking no I need data. But you don't. Unless you're some business person, then this excludes you. Wanna check Facebook?
Also, wii benefit from something else. 4G WiMax. You can turn that on even though your data is off. You still get decent battery life since 4GWiMx knows how to sleep. Also, if you're driving around, it'll pick up 4G eventually (unless you don't have it) and it'll download what it needs to download. So by time it turns loses signal, you'll have your emails. I tried this and I still got good battery life.
Using Battery Monitor Widget, I was able to see that my phone wasn't "sleeping". That's what the main problem was. That's why I wasn't able to find any rogue apps using Better Battery Stats. But I did see my phone stayed awake. Like once my phone died in 5 hours. 10 minutes screen time. 6 minutes of deep sleep. Really? That means my phone was awake for over 4 hours!? Doing what!? No app was at fault.
Extra stuff. No need to read if you felt you read enough
An app you all should check out...

Battery Monitor Widget (It's not just a widget. LoL!!)
It tells you how many #mA your phone is using. So if it shows 500mA. That means your phone is using 500mA per hour. Your phone has an 1800mA battery. So that means if your phone used a constant 500mA, it would die in 3.5 hours. This is a good way to see just how much power your apps are using, or if after 10 minutes your phone is actually sleeping. My phone actually started using 2mA. I haven't seen that since GB. I thought my phone would never sleep like that again. I cried.
P.S. If you get the app, in settings -> Calibration, change the battery amount from 1500mA to 1800mA. Apparently the app thinks our battery is 1500mA. Or maybe my battery REALLY IS 1500mA. I mean, it got my Nexus 7 battery correct. I didn't have to change it. I've always wondered why BMW said I had a 1500mA battery instead of 1800mA. I may have to look into. Wii all should probably look into that.
Also, those on Blazer ICS ROM. Using BMW, I was able to see something quite interesting. My phone would use a lot of energy. Like 1000mA just to send some text messages, or scroll through my app drawer. BUT, after I stopped using my phone for about 10 minutes, I'd turn it back on and BMW would show my phone gaining #mA, or charging. This means something is causing the phone to "drain", or show drainage, when there really isn't. The fact that the phone charges back means it never really used that much energy in the 1st place. But that only happens on this ROM. Since I figured out the data thing, I'm going to try CM9 again.
With all the hype around iPhone 6+ and Galaxy Note 4, I have to say the G Pro is still holding up great!
Performance is still smooth, maybe not as blazing fast as the latest A8 but does everything perfectly.
Battery life is going down a bit, with OEM battery I am at 2-2.5 hours screen time on LTE, 3-3.5 hours screen time on pure WIFI, my only envy for wife's S5 which has twice the battery life. If I upgrade to Note 4 later this year, battery life would be the only reason. Or maybe I will just bite the bullet, take the bulk and get the Zerolemon 9300 . . .
Holding up very well indeed.. I have largely remained on stock, very happy with the performance.. Battery life I get 5.5 hrs on WiFi only, 4.5 hrs types on mix of 3g and WiFi.. Not bad, I'm sure s5 or note 4 are not very far ahead

With a deep sleeping kernel I'm doing pretty well. My device is still in mint condition and I plan on keeping it that way.
Greenifying always helps battery, especially if you are root and have xposed. Turning off sync helps too. Using BetterBatteryStats and having a wakelock blocker is a lifesafer as well.
I run CM ROMs (Beanstalk,CM Nightly, PAC, etc.), I get anywhere between 3-5 hours of screen-on time depending on how I use my phone. It's not too bad of a battery. But I'm sure there will be better ways to save on the way.
If you have root you can always underclock, switch governors, and turn on some CPU multicore power saving in trickster.
These are all, of course, if you haven't done these already
Hi. My phone is still as strong as a beast. Battery life with CM/AOSP based ROMs is really not as good as stock, but can compensate. My G PRO is still holding up as it should, but of course who wouldn't want an upgraded device like G3? And with LG's software update setback, I guess my next device would be an Xperia Z3 or Z2.
After a full day with moderate use and medium processor heavy game playing for maybe an hour total along with only having one core of my processor enabled I am still at 33% battery. I use greenify and have a couple wakelock blocks set along with using common sense like turning off WiFi when I'm not using it.

What are you using to block wake locks? I have used xposed plus both wake lock terminator and nlpunbounce but they are a hit and miss..for me the biggest headache has been the msm_hsic_host wake lock, for which there seems to be no block possible

I'm running the Beanstalk 4.4.4065 ROM which has a built in wakelock blocker
I have been using CM11 nightlies for quite long. and the battery last only up to 12 hrs. I was so fed up and even thought of getting a new phone.
and in the mean time, downloading and flashing kdz files also never successful. i went to LG service center in SG to restore it to stock image, they refused me. I was nearly at the point of throwing away my 18 months old phone.
then, I wanted to give it a last chance, I installed the LG Mobile support tool on another laptop (which runs 32bits windows 8.1) and give it a try.
voila, it goes through, and i got the latest stock firmware for my region (E98820b-SEA-XX). Battery life???? with the same usage that can only last 10 hours on CM, i got 23 hrs with the stock firmware. For the sake of my ego, i rooted it with TowelRoot (thanks to our xda member geohot).
then I was curious to see how my phone is compared to the iPhone 6+ on paper, i do some comparison. then to my surprise, i found out that Apple uses the same LCD (5.5" 1080x1920 IPS LCD) and same photo sensor (1/3" BSI sensor).
and on top of that, my G Pro got IR blaster, Wireless charging, NFC tagging, replaceable battery, which iPhone still doesn't have. Surely, I'll keep my phone for another year, (and will keep saying these iSheeps that my 2 yrs old phone is better than their iCheap 6+)

LG G Pro OS great but yeah ever since I had a Z1 and Z2 I wanna go Sony again. There is just something about those phones that is magic. I love Xperia Z devices.

I just started using the LG G Pro again today. I really like this phone and it has held up very well.
I loaned my Moto X to my daughter so she can try an Android phone.
My wife has upgraded to an LG G3.
I had the original Optimus G and the G Pro just fells like a bigger version of the G.
Right now we have 3 LG phones and two LG tablets.
6 months after I bought it the phone is much, much slower and also I'll be buying a new battery

You make it seem like this phone is horrible. Compared to all the other phones I have had it is the best one.
I bought my E980 almost 2 years ago. it works like the first day i bought it no screen burn no button functionality issues no broken screen and speedy as always.
I have got this phone for 3 months now. Two weeks ago the touch buttons did not work anymore. Used softkey navigation as a workarround. Today the bottom of the screen stopped responding on any touch. Byebye softkey navigation. I will have to send it to the LG-repair centre
A shame, I really love this device but this is a setback.
Battery life has suffered since the update to 4.4.2. Speed wise, I feel like it has slowed down some, not sure if its related to the 4.4.2 update or just the aging file system. More recently, I was taking a video, and the image started stuttering to the point that the camera app crashed. The video file preview was black and the file un-playable. Not sure what exactly happened. Even then, OGP has been the best Android phone I have owned.
Mine will be one year old in few days.
The day I bought it, I had to choose between OGPro, Xperia Z and Note 2 - my goal was to buy great phone I wouldn't change for at least two years for under 450€... so it seems to me that I made some good choices in my life I've god E988 version (only one I found here, GPro was never officialy sold here) and I love it.
Today, phone is rooted, with CWM recovery, had few rom swaps (currently on Beanstalk), some scratches on the back panel but everything else is as new. Battery life is excellent, WiFi/mobile and bluetooth are constantnly on and it gets about 4-6 hours of screen time (with auto backlight on), and I remember getting around 38-40h of battery life without problems. With stock Jellybean it was even better, but then, I had no sync and some other services.
Only problem I had with this device (and still have sometimes) is damn audio skipping. Nothing (except maybe blocking AudioMix with wakelock blocker, still testing that) helps.
I chose between G2 and this, but I chose this because of the external SD capability and the removable battery and larger screen. It's fast enough for my liking.
still holding up well
Im still loving my gpro. Ive been using the zero lemon for the longest time. Never any worries on battery life. Tradeoff is phone is thicker with battery. So last night i decided to rock the original battery and case. Man i forgot how slim n sexy this phone really is. This phone imo can easily hold its own against new big screen iphone.
Im having that infamous wakelock burn up battery also. I will use original battery for a while and see. But i have a feeling ill be putting back in the zero lemon. Even with wakelocks, that battery is hard to kill.
mines holding up great but my screen is cracked up...
