no, every kind of One X won't get S-OFF...

S-Off is no big deal any way, flash via pc is very easy.

you first need to unlock your bootloader, root your phone and install a custom recovery berfore you can install custom rom
take a look at this: http://htcsource.com/2012/04/how-to-htc-unlock-bootloader-flash-custom-recovery-and-root-the-htc-one-x/ (link from FAQ)

Unlock, flash custom recovery, root the stock rom or flash a new rom.
You can't root a phone .... only its running software
And you can't root with a stock recovery. Always need a custom one. For rooting and installing roms....
Edit : why asking the same thing twice !

It is already possible to do this using fastboot commands if your phone is unlocked via HTC dev
Is this in the right forum lol?

This isn't possible.
Yesterday i managed to give my phone a nice bootloop since i flashed the wrong boot image. So i locked my device again in order to perform the RUU-solution. After locking it i tried to flash the files manually (quicker) but run into privilege-errors. The RUU failed too so i unlocked the bootloader again. After that RUU worked fine.
You have to unlock it.
It's nice of you to try but the others are correct
Fast boot is the only way to make a permenant change to the boot. Img . If you are able to write a new one it will just be reverted after a reboot because of the protection

No CID

A friend of mine bought a almost new One X and in fastboot the cid says NONE. It is a Vodafone (not locked) rom with Hboot 0.95.000 with software version 1.29.161.13.
Can he wipe the device (with or without root) and flash a WWE rom?
-Edit- CID is VODAP102.
Is it possible to somehow wipe the device and change the cid to E_11 and flash a WWE RUU?
LOL, he has a ViperX background after factory reset and the bootloader says locked, maybe the device was bricked and repaired.
He should try fastboot oem readcid instead of fastboot getvar cid.

if you can boot into custom recovery (TWRP), then I don't see why you wouldn't be able to flash a custom rom, without rooting.
I would definitely reccomend you make a backup first, before flashing a custom ROM.
I'm also unfamiliar with Hboo 0.95.000. Research to make sure you don't have to fastboot flash the boot.img, before flashing the custom ROM.

No its not possible t change the CID, and no he can't use a different RUU. If he wants to use a RUU te numbers from the main version has to match ! He has to unlock the bootloader with the HTCDev site and flash a custom recovery to flash roms.
And when the CID comes out as VODAP102 it's def locked to the carrier otherwise it should say HTC__CIDnumber
and some more info : Hboot 0.95 means he was originally on a software version 1.29.***.** that's android 4.0.3.....most phones have already been upgraded to hboot 1.12 (software 2.17.***.**) and then the JB versions (software 3.14.***.** and up)

He might have got a network unlock code from vodafone or a 3rd party unlocking business.

Yes correct, but he is not on a stock rom so he can't update now......let me find the ruu he needs to get back to stock. Be back in a minute !.
Download this one
http://androidfiles.org/ruu/securek...Radio_1.1204.105.14_release_264070_signed.exe
Put the phone in fastboot usb and lock the bootloader
Fastboot oem lock
Keep the phone in fastboot usb mode with the locked bootloader and right click the ruu on the pc and select run as administrator
Should do the trick, after this he is back to stock and ready for the update to JB

I'm total noob as well, but i want to start installing other roms on my DHD. I've Searched this forum for several hours, and I found a lot of different ways to root, unlock, radio off and I dont know what more you can do...
The best option for a noob sounds the Easy Ace Root Tool, as suggested in this topic. But what I dont know is what to do after the tool is done...
If I understand well, this tool wil unlock the bootloader, provides root access and flash ClockworkMod Recovery, right?
Can someone give me some information about the next steps?
Thank you in advanced!

Yes, you understand correctly. Next you flash a rooted custom ROM from recovery. You get those from the development forum. After you install it from recovery, you will need to fastboot flash the boot.img from the ROM zip using your computer.
is it enouhg to open the h-boot over the htc-dev page and after this to install maybe twrp for recovery,to flash roms on a desire hd,ofcource with flashing the boot.img with fastboot.Icant find another, actual way to root my DHD?!?

If you're rooted (and with ARHD you should be, unless you removed it) you can install the 4ext updater apk from the 4ext website (google for it). Then, install the recovery from the app.

You don't need to update anything, your hboot supports all roms.

Sense your unlocked you can flash a custom recovery using fastboot as i would use twrp. An then download supersu.zip an flash it in your newly installed twrp recovery. An now you are rooted.

nbd. You should be able to use htcdev.com to unlock your bootloader Or you can go the s-off way(which I recommend) use the sunshine app for s-off(if your device is capable of s-off now) an if it is sunshine will s-off an unlock for you an then do what I said above post. Those r really your only 2 choices.
FYI you will need to be on either of the latest two twrp versions to install su binaries properly if you have issues. Sunshine wouldn't work for me but its really easy to unlock bootloader and install twrp and su

You could do that yes. Or just flash the firmware zip an then flash twrp an flash updated ROM an you r up to date....if you run ruu it will wipe your device so backup your stuff to a PC or external an then proceed with ruu an flashing twrp then ROM. After you flash twrp I recommend strongly to make a backup of stock before you wipe to flash new ROM.

I guess i'm confused because of my Hboot being on 3.19. I've been wondering if there is a need to run a higher Hboot that probably came out with the new OTA, but the VenonRom 4.2 has been running with no problems. So i guess what I am really trying to achieve is upgrading HBoot and Radio.
