[How To] Voice Search w/ Longpress in ICS AOKP, CM9, etc...

Hi All--
I had a lot of trouble with this and finally figured it out so I thought I would pass it on.
This is how to get a longpress of the search key (or any other key you choose) to activate voice search in ICS (I am doing this on AOKP b35).
The problem is that Voice Search doesn't show up in the applications list.
SO:
1. Use titanium backup to delete the voicesearch apk.
2. Install Voice Search from the market (a different version, but we'll fix that in a sec)
3. In Rom Settings (or liquid settings, or whatever) go and set the longpress as you would like it to activate voice search.
4. Flash the ICS Gapps package. This will replace the voicesearch apk with the new one, but it keeps the shortcut active.
Good luck!
You can also use Nova Activities to assign it more easily. Assign the long-press action to Custom App -> Activities -> Voice Search -> RecognitionActivity. I started to go through the steps for your method, and then this struck me. Seems to work.
Hmmm. Mines always worked. I think custom roms set this up by default.

[Q] How do I reenable Google Voice Search

Running JB 4.1.1. on ATT SG3 (SGHI747). Recently rooted.
Touching the microphone associated with Google Search used to allow me to speak and fill fields. Now, touching the icon brings me to the Play Store link to the Google Voice Search app page. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the application, cleared all file associations, rebooted.
I'm a total noob. I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks.
J
Where is this microphone located? If it is a shortcut out on your main screens (desktop area who's name is escaping me currently) you might want to try going into the "Apps" drawer and opening google voice there. If that works then trash your broken shortcut and drag a new one out.

[NO ROOT][STOCK ROM] Google Assistant on Lenovo Vibe K5/K5 Plus

1. Download and Open Activity Launcher
2. Tap on the “Recent activities” tab up top and select “All activities.” Wait for all activities to load.
3. Scroll down until you find the Google App. Tap on it to expand all available activities under the Google App.
4. Find com.google.android.apps.gsa.staticplugins.opa.hq.OpaHqActivity (last 7th). You can either tap on it once or create a shortcut to it on your launcher.
5. You’ll now find yourself within the new Assistant “explore” screen where Google categorizes available integrations, how to use them, and quick access to make custom shortcuts.
6. Swipe over to the “Your Stuff” tab up top.
7. Tap on “Add Reminder” to trigger Google Assistant. What this action does is launch the activity com.google.android.apps.gsa.staticplugins.opa.OpaActivity – which normally can’t be accessed on your unrooted device.
8. You’ll now be taken through the hotword setup process. Teach it to recognize your voice, and you’re done! Now you can access Google Assistant by saying “OK Google!”
Edit: Install Google Assistant Launcher and continue with step 5.

The simplest way to get assistant
hello there's some easy way, you can access google assistant but you must register to become beta tester for Google app in playstore, I think the beta tester automatically enabled and The Assistant launched itself after installed the beta app and that's work normally without exploring etc
after installing, you can try press home and there's option you can choose Google apps or Google Assistant or depend apps installed on your device :good:

Google Assistant?

Is there a way to get google Assistant on the Mi6 like on the Google Pixel?
Set the default assistant application
Settings > Installed Apps > Defaults (gear icon on the bottom), Set "Assist & voice input" to Google
On MIUI 8, you can use Google Assistant by long press the home button. But on MIUI 9, this operation just open Google search instead of the assistant.
