So I don't know what I did but I went to my recovery (TWRP) and accidently did something I do not know what, but now I can not view my pics, files, music from both SD/internal..but when I reboot my phone and check on the computer I see everything there and my storage says it's full. I just can't see it on the phone

I think it would be very useful if you can provide a lot more details and specifics about your situation like
which rom are you using, did it ever work properly if so what was the last thing you have done with the
phone before you started having this issue.
If I were you since you can see your internal and external sdcards on your computer I would first create
two new folders on the computer's desktop, one for internal sd and the other external sd.
Then copy all the files and folders from your internal/external sdcard to the appropriate folders on your desktop.
After doing that check how much space is being used in each of your two new folders on your computer's desktop.
See if there are any really large files which look suspicious to you.
After doing that and if the sdcards are either really full or not really full you will have a better idea of what to do to
trouble shoot the issue you are having with the phone.
It's always a good idea in any case to have a backup of both internal and external sdcards on your computer.
Good luck!
It isn't an ROM issue, but I was on PAC Rom. My problem is I did something in the recovery by mistake and pressed something maybe that formatted my memory?? :crying:
edit: Issue seems to be fixed..

That's one of the reasons I was suggesting that you copy everything from both internal and external
cards to folders on your computers desktop.
So you could see what you really have. If you get a message saying sdcard full or anything like that
it normally would mean that the sdcard has not been formatted, if it was it would be empty and it would
not give an error message saying that it's full.
Sometimes the PC will see the files after its been wiped by the phone. Copy everything to desktop, hope it actually copies everything, format sd card using Android OS, copy everything back, get a Dropbox account.

Find a root file manager.
Go to
Data/media.
That's your internal sd card. Some roms create a virtual sd card (sdcard0 or emulated sdcard0), which is android making a a fake one. All your pictures are still on your phone.
Just copy data/media into the virtual sd card an reboot. Your stuff shall appear again. If you have issues just pm me.

First I'll start by noting that I haad my n2 several days before purchasing a 64gb sd card. So system was already setup with a few apps installed pre-sdcard.
However now that I have it in, nothing saves to it. Everything still saves to the internal sdcard. I dont care about apps and such installed from market or xda, those are fine.
But anything I download from Tapatalk or the web browser automatically saves to internal. Pictures taken as well.
Im coming from an evo3d where pics and all media/files I downloaded would go to the sd card and not internal.
I do see that for whatever reason samsung nsmed there internal as sdcard which probably makes a lot of apps think that is the external and not internal but its extremely annoying. I dont know if its because I started using phone before I had an external one in or if thats by design.
But its ridiculous to think I'd have to manually copy everything over from internal to external sfter downloading something when my 3d used to place on external.
Do I need to factory reset to correct this or what. Whats the point of an external card that isnt being utilized??
Also it isnt recognized at all in twrp which after some reading I see it doesn't support 64gb? What gives?
Do I need to format it a certain way?
Thanks in advance.

I have not been able to move my Tapatalk download folder, but you can relocate where things download to under settings in the browser and camera apps.
For formatting, I'd format the card via the phone under storage if you haven't already tried that.

I changed camera to external so it now saves to /storage/extSdCard/DCIM which is good but dolphin broswer only lets u select /storage/sdcard0 which is default internal storage. Doesnt even show the extSdCard as an option. Why in the world would they do it like this. Very gay.
Had no issues on previous HTC models going to the correct place.
Would I be able to use root explorer to rename the directories?
Need this fixed more than anything. Some apps dont even give you the option to change path as they assume sdcard0 is your actual sdcard. :/

sdcard0 to extsdcard
I found a scripts the tricks ICS to use your external sdcard as your internal storage. So when apps write data to sdcard0 it is actually writting to your external sd. I tried it and it works!
I dont have permission to post outside links but you can find it at galaxynote2root in the tutorials section.
I have an ATT SGS3 and today I flashed 4.2. Everything is cool, but due to multiple flashes over the past few days, I had several (0) folders on my SD card. I know this is due to 4.2 having the option to have multiple users. Since I had like 6 (0) folders, I moved my main folder back to the newest folder. The problem? While I can see the folder in Root Explorer and CWM, it does not show up when I plug it into the computer via USB. I only see one folder and nothing else.
How can I fix it so I can see this folder when plugged into the computer? The way it is now, my personal ringtones, music and everything else are not being found as they are not being seen.
Thanks for any help!!
I'm on 4.2 and both of my cards show up on my pc. I don't have the (0) folder you speak of either. Closest I have to that is usbdisk(0)
Look on one of your cards for a folder with the name of "0". The content of that folder is everything previously on your internal sd.
I can see the folder on root explorer but can't when I am hooked up to computer.

I just found that my contents of the internal sd card is showing up as the extenal sd when hooked to the computer. Crazy. But I can't move the files to the comptuer like this. How can I get this back to the way it should be? I want the internal contents to show up as the internal contents!

This is a known issue in 4.2 ROMs at the moment. Assuming you flashed CM or AOKP, you can follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2052337
Problem: USB MTP connection failing to transfer files between device and computer. Windows states the device may be disconnected, when in fact it is not. Another issue with 4.2 is sometimes it does not show your complete folder contents, it will also swap Internal Storage and SD Card folders.
There is no known solution at this time. (None that I have found anyway, and trust me I've been searching for the past 2 days non stop. Really looking forward to cm10.1, but every time I update I get the above issues. I'm waiting for them to be sorted out before I use it as a daily ROM.)
Good Day All.
I'd like to share a weird problem that I've encountered today.
I have a Lt26 running .55 firmware stock, and my OS is Windows 8 Pro 64bit.
Now what happened today was I plugged my phone in my PC via USB, the "Xperia“ icon appeared in My Computer, under removable devices. I clicked on it, it will show Internal Storage (Contents on my phone)
Until this stage, everything was fine. I then went into my phone's internal storage to look for a mp3 file, but ended up finding an empty folder called "sdcard". Now the strange part comes, I've never seen this folder, and it appeared in my internal storage's root folder. I went into this folder, there was an empty folder called "Screenshot".
Bear in mind at this time there are 11GB of files on my phone. And all other files are presence on my internal storage, all was normal.
I made a bad decision to delete that empty folder, by pressing Shift + Del. Bad choice, my Explorer process got stuck, so I had to force close it. Then I pulled out my USB cable....
Now when I plug in my phone again, the internal storage shows that I have 25 GB of space available, but when I goto the root folder of the internal storage. I can see ALL THE FILES ARE STILL THERE, WITH CORRECT FILE SIZES. But if I unplug the usb cable, and open Root Explorer on my phone, the SDcard folder now has nothing in it, completely wiped. And the total available space now shows as "25GB" (Which is the full space)
I can only see those files on my PC. But when I try to copy them out of the phone, Windows tells me "Unspecified Error". I looked up for the meaning of that error code - Access Denied.
I have tried to mount Internal Storage as SD card using SD Mounter V2.0. Then used some recovering software to scan for files on that drive. I manage to recover 9000 files with a file size of 32kb only. Interesting enough, I can not copy anything back to the internal storage anymore.
I suspect that I might accidentally deleted the file index. As I've never seen that folder before.
MY QUESTION is. Are those data still there on my phone? Should I just give up trying to recover those files and clear internal storage within my phone's option?
Many thanks.
Use sony pc companion and try to back up everything on ur computer.
After that format ur cell.

Hi there. I tried your method, and unfortunately the files can not be recovered this way. PC companion "having error trying to copy files". So I used Final Data and recovered about 70% of my stuff.
Thanks again for the input.

Firstly, you can google around Final Data. Or try using Recuva. They both work, but I'd say Final Data works much better. I managed to recover 29G of stuff (Most of them are not working) from both softwares.
To get Final Data recognize your phone's internal storage, you must remember to use SD Mounter by Soheli (I used V2.0). It's in the same forum, maybe you should look for it. Sorry I don't have the link anymore.
DO NOT TRY TO COPY ANYTHING INTO YOUR PHONE AT THIS STAGE (Except for SD Mounter Maybe). Mount your Internal Storage as Mass Storage after you installed the apk file. Your PC should recognize the drive as a "Removable Drive", then open Recuva or Final Data, do a deep scan (It took me a whole night just to scan through 11GB of files, another 3 hours to recover the files).
Good Luck. I recovered 70% of my stuff with this method.
Can somebody explain what that SDCARD folder actually is?

Ok, I was able to do it. Having stock ICS without root and bootloader locked, I had to get root to try the sd card mount and recover data.
Luckily, I found Bin4ry's root method for Xperia S: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 . It worked as a charm, and now I have root in stock ICS (without unlocking bootloader).
After, I follow your comments, installed SD Mounter: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1744878 , mounted the Internal Storage as SD Card and was able to run the PhotoRec and recovered almost all pictures (without the correct name). Couldn't use Final Data and Recuva only found 5% of the photos.
You can recover data from android phone internal storage, see this solution: recover data from android phone internal memory
hope this helps.
Hi I have been dealing with this problem for awhile now and still haven't been able to find a fix (without rooting). After I updated JB from Kies when it came out my internal and memory card folders are completely different? Also it says I only have 11.95GB total in my internal memory. The internal memory folder says :sdcard0. And my memory card folder is: extSdCard? I'm not rooted. Does anyone know how to get the folders back to the regular names ext sd ect? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

That is how it they are formatted now. It's not a mistake or anything being messed up. I guess I'm just used the internal being sdcard0 and ex sd card being extsdcard. I don't use myfiles much. I use root explorer and it can displays it as storage and then inside that folder is extsdcard and sdcard. Or there is a fodler just called sdcard for the internal in the root of the file system.
What problem is it creating, other than just being different than you are used to ?

i'll try not to rant too hard but Kies and OTA firmware updates are a joke. you are essentially dirty flashing one rom over another with no real clearing of caches, no resetting, no way for all the programs to regroup, rebuild and run on the system hardware/software properly. the thing about dirty flashing is, it sticks well with some devices but generally not with many others. you'll see these types of issues many times among the avid flashers and those that must have the latest release of a developers rom.
i would recommend backing everything up, booting into stock recovery, wiping data/factory reset and wiping cache. if you decide to perform another update via kies in the future, i would do this procedure before AND after the update.
yes, you have to start over when you perform these sorts of actions but you have to ask yourself, are you happy with how your device is performing now (before the update)? is it worth starting over? (it might be if you're going to run on the updated OS for a year or so) and how well do you want it to perform after you install the update?
cheers
EDIT: i just assume everyone accesses recovery and download mode so i didnt post the button combo. recovery is: Volume Up + Home + Power. release just the power button when you get a vibrate.

This is normal for a 16GB SGS3. 16GB is advertised but actual formatted available space is less. 11.95GB is right on par. This is the case for just about all devices that have memory that is writable, including hard drives on a computer.

Any particular reason why you are using Apps2sd? $10 to $20 will land you an external memory card with huge amounts of space (32GB at least). This is plenty to store music, photos, and other misc. files. And even with a ton of apps installed to internal, you still should have ample space left over. There is just no good reason to use Apps2sd on this phone as it has so much internal memory. If this is just to keep you from losing data, then I would suggest rooting and using an app such as Titanium Backup as it makes it super easy to restore apps and the corresponding data after anything that requires a factory reset.

Actually i did.
After the update, without factory reset, everything was (almost) fine… except a strange malfunction of the Gps (lock signal lost after a while) and sporadic reboot without reason. For the Gps I’ve found here the solution (NV Rebuild), but for the reboot… I wasn’t sure about it. So I decided for a factory reset. After that my ext card, with the ICS paths, was not recognized. So bucked up everything, format the ext card and let Kies sync my files and create all the folders needed from JB: Camera Photo Video for pictures, and media for the music. Now I’m let’s say 90% ready to go… I’m curios to test especially the Gps.
I have a problem with external SD. It does not "see" the PC. Neither Windows 10 nor Linux (kubuntu) I use. Before I saw the internal memory and SD separately. I also noticed how the es file explorer I am using does not let me make a new folder on the external SD While in the internal memory there is no problem. I am in Oreo 8, root. I wonder why it started to happen suddenly while before I did not have a problem.

Yes it is the truth that I do not care to make it like internal. I do not care. The data is interesting to me. What I can not understand is what it did not look like! So, suddenly, you stopped showing on your PC and I can not create a new folder, renaming it, copying anything. Something changed. Something is blame. I tried other file explorers and everywhere the same. I would say the card is broken. But that is not the case. I have read on the forum that in general HTC 10 has problems with SD. Perhaps I will finally sacrifice my data, and with a great deal of difficulty I am gathered again.
I'll be crazy! With a heavy heart I decided to shape the SD and let me sacrifice the data. However, while I was informed by the system that I will lose the data, the configuration was made and nothing changed. Envelopes were all in their place, and the same problems as creation-copy-move-rename. What the hell is going on?
Why didn't you take it out of the phone and into a card reader ? Your posts are hard to follow and understand what you are doing exactly.....

Yes the TWRP sees the SD card. As well as es file explorer. It's not the same as HTC's file explorer. He DOES NOT SEE IT. I also installed an app fix card while viewing it as follows / mnt / media_rw / 89BD-1702. Also Vfat32. However, it can not control it. Reverse the inner well. I will try to put it in a card reader on the PC and I will tell you the result.
