Everything you need to know is in the Canadian sub-forum, and the two Development sub-forums. There's threads in there on how to root, install Freegee, install recovery, and separate threads for the main ROMs (CyanogenMod, Rootbox, AOKP, Carbon, Xylon, CarbonClash, and one or two others).

Thanks for your response what from.for best battery life cause this Phone battery drains really fast noticed and not much accessories I can buy cause none available on the market even in korea itself hence I'm asking

For battery life, check out for "BatteryGuru" in the market, it could help
And, if the device is "new", allow a couple of days (if not 1-2 weeks) to callibrate properly. To help it, allow the device to completely drain so that it won't start AT ALL when you hit "power", then fully charge. RInce, repeate a couple of times.

Verizon Galaxy Nexus will be here tomorrow!!!

First time Samsung user coming from EVO 3D. What are your recommendations for ROM's and kernels? And is CWM favored over stock recovery? I guess i will try them all tomorrow. Thanks in advance
-CWM Is yes the best and most used recoveries. (Are there even other ones, lol?)
-I recommend AOKP (Android Open Kang Project) Milestone 3 or the latest nightly, you can find these in the Android development section of the GNex.
-For kernels, they all act differently for everyone. Some people are great with franco kernels, and trinity, and james bond, and leankernel, just gotta try them all really . For example I'm getting the same if not worse battery with franco, but I might try James Bond kernels, (they are great they seem.) But they are all good in terms of performance.
Good Luck on the new GNexus it's a hell of a phone
I use GummyNex, much more stable and closer to stock than AOKP. I'm also using Franco's 18.2 nightly and get excellent battery life (around 10 hours). Just try everything out there till you find what works for you.
Just make sure you go to the 'CDMA Galaxy Nexus Android Development' for your ROMs. I learned that the hard way...

Random... Why not look at one of the other 100 ongoing threads?
Look at Handtec, Expansys, NegriElectronics, eBay, Amazon...
try apex, it's very close to stock but also giving you lots of options to pay around with.

AOKP is extremely stable and offers a ton of options. Latest build is sick and allows you to remove the bottom softkeys in the power menu so you can use anything full screen and bring the buttons back with the power menu again...
welcome aboard! I just switched from Sprint and was rockin a epic Touch 4G (great phone) and have had this phone in my hand for a week now. Extremely easy to unlock, download and install the toolkit. It's a stickie in the develpment thread. the only mistake I made was not running the stock software for a few days to get a feel for it before flashing something new. I would flash a couple roms and see what they are about, then settle on one.
I'd also like to the recommend aokp which is a very stable rom. I use the stock kernel and don't really need any custom one .

eh, the download link goes directly to the AOKP site: http://forum.aokp.co/ which lists the latest build. People still talk about the latest nightly, the only thing that isnt updated quickly is the title of the thread

[Q] about [WFSDEV][CM9][NIGHTLYS][Last build 23/04/12]

Does this ROM work with the MarvelC?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1608529
And if not, are there other CM7 or CM9 ROMS that do? If yes, please list all. Thank you so very much.
More so. Lack of support for the MetroPCS Wildfire S is kinda upsetting. I rooted, S-offed, and installed recovery right after I got it and had to resort to using a glitchy MIUI themed CM7 ROM upon finding there were no better more stable ROMS I could find. Some of these ROMS stated support for the MarvelC but does that mean it will actually work?
I came from an LG Optimus M which had many ROMS and I had used Bobz CM7 which was super stable to the point it had no bugs. And I'm hoping that the MarvelC gets some of community to build for it as well.
I'll say it...
No. The CM9 ROM you mentioned has Marvelc/CDMA support, but it still doesn't boot.
There is a CM7 ROM, but its still a work in progress. Its not ready for daily usage.
Most ROM's that are Marvelc compatible are based on the stock ROM, with HTC Sense 2.1.
For a complete list of Marvelc compatible ROM's, see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1556983&highlight=marvelc+roms
(BTW, I have the same phone. Sucks, doesn't it? I miss my Optimus!)
I've seen this list and have looked into all those ROMS. I'm dissapointed in the selection. Ill just have to wait I guess for development on this phone -_-

Yup, I guess you will.
I miss my optimus as well, I sold that phone to get a wfs hoping it would be better, but in reality the only downfall to the optimus to me is that it didn't have camera flash, but I still think the optimus is a better phone

I agree. It really was. The unified speaker, the camera button, the easily accessed backing, the physical buttons. I miss it all. Unfortunately my madre took an hammer to my Optimus during a fight and my grandparents bought me the WFS. I was delighted to have the many new features of this phone. But just the fact that there is little to no development on stable ROMS for this phone is enough to make me cry. :/

I dont miss the physical buttons, lower screen resolution, and lower camera megapixels of the Optimus, however I do miss the camera button, lack of security in bootloader, and amazing custom ROMs.
There is development on the Marvelc, its just slow going. Feel free to help us out, if you have any development experience. (Team BlueRidge, FTW!)

Is it necessary to flash bootloader and radio also when flashing a custom rom?
Basically thats the only thing holding me back now because im not sure.
I've already unlocked and rooted, just not ready yet for a custom rom
I'm new to the Gnex too, but spent two years trying to get an ancient Galaxy Spica 5700 to run CM7...
Got the Gnex about a week ago, and immediately started looking around here. I chose AndroidME CM10, because it looked good, and in the developement thread no one seemed to have problems, and they said the battery life was very good. I can't remember if it's GSM only though.... Anyway I'm very happy with it, no probs at all, and battery life is good. I see that generally in America all you guys who use Google Now and all that and have different network frequencies complain about battery life, but I don't really use the phone that much, and with this ROM I get a few days with minimal screen use. There are also two other ROMs by the same dev, a modded stock JB and an AOSP JB. I like the look of the new Codename android 3.3.1, but in the dev thread too many people have little problems, and after years of limited functionality on my old phone I just want something stable and nice, to relax for a while. At least until I get bored...
RE baseband, If you look around in the forum (General forum I think,) you'll find a page all about basebands and with packages to flash them all. On my GSM I had to change the baseband, because you can't use the original baseband with JB.
I dunno what modding the Galaxy S was like for you, but based on my past with my Spica I'm loving my first Nexus device, it's all so easy! Good Luck
Thats so easy!!!! Just go for CM10, then change to AOKP, then go all in Paranoid, then just flash Miui and be happy :highfive:

If you've already received the JB OTA, then the bootloader and radio are already up to date. You could always just flash a custom recovery and SU. I've been running rooted stock since I got my phone
Whatever you're first custom ROM is, BAMF Paradigm will be your last, because once you flash BAMF, you won't want/need to flash anything else

Yup go MIUI JB it's the best,I run it with the james bond kernel

Hey, I came from Spica too. That was so buggy and slow despite the attempts by various devs. Used it for 2 yrs. GNex is so much better.
Anyway for the OP. I wanted the stock experience initially. So i am on Android Revolution and stock kernel. Wifi reception is pretty poor. Many have reported that on different ROMS. Will have to try out different kernels or wait till google gives a fix. There are no other issues and battery life is good. But i am getting bored with stock. Might try Xenon HD.
Xenon is a great choice had it till the new MIUI came out. For kernels I have had the best battery life with james bond. Have not tried slim bean yet but I ran slim ics and it was great. I think the rom was only like 50 mb

Stock.
For the love of god, stop asking and start doing!
Aokp build 1.. so far good

Im using MiNCO right now on my GNEX and its running great and so far its the most stable ROM I've tried. I've tried XenonHD and RASCARLO. I've only had my GNEX for about a week and I'm about to try BAMF

Codename is packed with features from many of the other ROMS. Been running fine for me, with Franco kernel
of course the CM10 nightlies!!

Having to step down from Nexus 5

Hello everyone, I have been enjoying the Nexus 5 since its release in November. I've had to give my N5 to my Father who has been complaining about his phone so much that I just wanted him to have the latest and greatest and quiet his complaints. Since I did not want to go out of pocket for another N5, I acquired a gently used Optimus G for a great price, and it is in great shape.
I am very leery about using stock LG UI... and prefer to replicate the Kit Kat experience with a rom (i.e. CM 11).
After perusing the various rom forums, it seems that KitKat for this device is still not reliable enough to use as a daily driver.... Most common complaints are about data dropping out, gps not being reliable, or random reboots.
Could I get advice from all of you experienced Optimus G owners? I need advice regarding the best and most reliable method to have a pure google experience. If dependability is the most important factor, am I better off to stick with stock? Are there Kit Kat roms that are reliable enough to use as a daily driver?
Thanks in advance.

personally i use stock. it cant be beat. there are themes that can make it look like kit kat. thats what i do
I believe we have enough reliable kitkat ROMs now that depending on what options and features u want, u will be able to find one that works for u. The supernexus ROM has been quoted to be one of the most reliable and battery efficient. I haven't ran it recently but all of the lgog community here is very honest in their findings and reports. I'm currently running liquid smooth with the matr1x kernel and I have zero complaints. My wife on the other hand is running stock lg and has problems quite a bit. I swear she must have a plate in her head or something. But anyways, don't be afraid to ask about the daily driver status right in the ROM threads. Everyone here is friendly and very very helpful.

Thank you to both of you guys for the awesome advice. I am planning to try Supernexus 4.0 tonight. It has been a few months since I last rooted and used roms (stopped after getting Nexus 5) but I am sure it will be like riding a bike, and could be fun.. as long as I carefully follow the directions.

No good soul wants to compile PAC ROM for us?

I had 3 android phones by now and PAC ROM was on each one of them.
I've tried using other ROMs but they just don't feel good, not enough customization and sometimes even laggy. I never had those problems with PAC.
I said in many threads that I will take official maintainership of G3 for PAC rom just need some time, because of vacation
