QuickRemote lives up to it's name....So far - LG Optimus G Pro

Anybody else try the QuickRemote app yet? I've only tried 3 TV's but so far it lives up to it's name. Full control of all 3 tried so far has only taken about 15-30 seconds each. Very nice app. The Toshiba I tried took the longest as I had to scroll way down to find it. Haven't tried other devices yet tho so it may be a hit/miss for some of them.

No issues on my end. Programmed to 4 TV's, 4 STB's and home theater. All the buttons I've tried out have worked and the IR blaster works just as well as the native controllers for my equipment. Even got it to work my Xbox 360.

Same here no issues programmed 2 tvs couple of ac units and a cable box. Works awesome.

Sure does work. Jus programmed it to my Xbox. Funny when this phone barely came out how bad I heard the remote app on the gpro was horrible compared to the gs4 but yet this is seems to function more easily. Now just to link it to my cars in dash

I actually find the app to be very well thought out. I love the quick controls in the notification drop-down. What model of in-dash do you have if it isn't stock? I forgot my Kenwood has an IR receiver.

Great app. Laid out well, easy to use, easy to get to, easy to program. However, it doesn't work on my Yamaha sound bar. With all devices router to sound bar and volume, it is unusable for me. Damn, cause I really like it. I have a pair of harmony remotes which rule

Worked OK with my Samsung OLED smart tv, but I couldn't figure out how to change sources with my RCA receiver and it didn't seem to work at all with my Media Center PC, even though it has an entry for it.

Same here but with Comcast. Controls my tv just fine but cant control my Comcast box ( the small one). My htc one combined both and I was able t turn the tv on and off and change channel using the same remote.
Edit: never mind I figured it out. I have 2 remotes one for the tv, one for the cable box. The htc one combines the 2 in one that's why I was confused. Plus my cable box remote for some reason cant turn off the cable box. Anyways...
Here 's what you have to do ( hopefully it'll work for you as well). Set up your tv. For your cable box/dish dvr, go through the setup, when it ask you if the power button worked say "yes" even if it didn't work. Now try the second step which is to change the channel. If that doesn't work say "no" and go back to step one ( at this point I think itll change frequency or something) and try it again, when it ask if the power button worked say "yes" even if it didn't, then step 2 try to change channels and it should work.

Headphone buttons

Does anyone know how to get the headphone buttons to work?
A long press activates vlingo.
they will not pause pandora, mixzing, or the stock music app.
I can't get headphone buttons on beats studios to work either. Like on iPod I know like dbl press skips track etc.. But no go on this out my og epic. I think my HTC hero long tinge ago did work though. It may be the headphone jack doesn't have the proper stuffs for that functionality.
I have a pair of LG stereo Bluetooth headphones that have pause play fwd rew buttons and all those work perfectly.

Sadly iOS and Android devices use different wiring layouts for inline remotes than each other, so I've never found one designed for iOS work fully on any Android phone that I've had. Only way I can think of to fix it would be if someone made an app to intercept the remote signals and correct them, kind of like a programmable TV remote.

Or an adapter that switched the wiring around appropriately within itself.
I'm not sure compatibility is an issue here. I had no problems with using my iphone headphones on my nexus one.
Maybe it's a samsung program issue. I noticed that by deactivating vlingo, I got pause functionality back.

[Q] Onlive Universal Controller and CM9

Bluetooth keyboard for S3 (with touch pad)

Can anyone recommend a bluetooth keyboard with touchpad for S3?
I never had something like this...so I am kinda confused which one to get...
I plan to use it together with the MHL adapter to the television set.
Thanks in advance.
Edit:
I never used any keyboard with my Android device...so I do not have any idea...how it suppose to work
If I connect the S3 to TV with the MHL connector and the TV+SGS3 about 3-5 meters away from me.... this means re-touching the screen is not comfortable.
This is the reason why I imagined that I would need the touch pad.
Do I really need the touchpad? (plan mainly for browsing, watching movies, youtube)
Actually every bluetooth keyboard should work. Search Amazon or ebay for "bluetooth keyboard with touchpad". Its important to buy a real bluetooth one and nothing with proprietary standards (like most logitech/advertised as "wireless")
Quick look in ebay: Rii Bluetooth Mini Wireless Keyboard With Touchpad More For PC Cool Fahioned aje 150819865177 for 30€
Thank you the quick reply.
I will take a look at it as soon I am back at home.

I tried it with mouse+keyboard via USB and it works.
Unfortunately, I can not do that while connecting to MHL connector, if I understand it correctly.
I want to use it together with my TV which is connected with the MHL converter, this means the keyboard has to be via Bluetooth.
And, I am sitting about 3-5 meters away (I do not have long enough HDMI cable) from my SGS3 so I need a good bluetooth keyboard with working short cuts like home button, volume, etc. and also a touch pad to replace the mouse thing....I do not want to stand up every few seconds to operate the SGS3 directly on the phone.
Hmmm... the Rii keyboards are too small in my opinion.
Do all keyboards with touchpad really that small?
Any other options?
Thanks in advance

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the Dinovo edge uses a usb receiver so you wont be able to use it in conjuntion with MHL.
dinovo edge also works on standard BT, my bluetooth dongle broke and i'm currently just using another bt dongle on my htpc --> should work
No soft control buttons on SGS3 so be careful what keyboard you get!
Hi,
I've been using the cheapest bluetooth and mouse out there whilst I get the hang of the smartphone pc experience. I have noticed that since it is not a Galaxy Nexus, it is impossible to point the mouse to the home button, or bring up the settings (bottom left button). Back buttun is simple because it is just the Esc button on the keyboard. If your going to be sitting 3-5m away from your SGS3 then this will be a deal breaker I'm sure.
Does anyone know a work around for people who are in this situation (i.e. no shortcut keys to control buttons on SGS3 excluding back)?
Cheers,
Stui

Motorola Bluetooth Keyboard + trackpad.
I bought the motorola bluetooth keyboard with trackpad since it has Android shortcuts. I just got it today and tried it for 10 minutes. I found the mouse extremely slow and unaccurate and the keyboard responded a little slow. Im looking for an app maybe so that I can calibrate and adjust the settings.
Also using the original Galaxy MHL/HDMI adapter (the 11 pin version) I got the Image on my TV but the resolution is bigger than the screen so I cant see the whole picture. If anyone knows how to set this up aswell I would appreciate it.
Thank you very much in advance!

I also have the Motorola bt kb w/ trackpad. The keyboard is great, but yeah, the mouse movement isnt' the gretest. You can increase the pointer speed inside of Settings -> Language and Input. It makes it more tolerable, but not great. Besides, I've found it a little tedious to use a mouse as most apps are made with just the touchscreen in mind.

Make my phone a tablet remote?

I have a nexus 7 2013, and a samsung galaxy pocket. The nexus is going into my car as a head unit, and i want to know if there is an app that will let me use the phone to give voice commands to the tablet, and open or close apps. I also want to be able to control media apps through the phone to do things like switch tracks or change volume levels. The phone is going to primarily be used as a WIFI hotspot while I'm in the car, so I'm not sure if i should make a bluetooth connection for the commands, and a wifi tether for the internet, or if it all has to be done exclusively over bluetooth or wifi. Thanks.
You have your own reasons but just curious, why can't you use voice commands directly on the N7? It is tethered to your phone so it has internet access and all.
Check out this setup. I'm going to do similar setup on my IS 250.

the tablet will be in the dash, which might be fine, but i would also still have to shout over loud music and wind noise when i have the top off. If i can just hold the phone up to my face, i won't have to shout or take my eyes off of the road.

a bluetooth headset would work for that, but it would also block half of the sound coming from my stereo, and i couldn't use it to give the tablet commands like next track or volume up like i could with a remote. I'm kind of looking for a hybrid between a standard remote control, and a bluetooth headset. I need a microphone to give the tablet navigation commands, and perform tasks that would be complicated while driving, and a remote to give it simple commands like volume up or next track without taking my eyes off of the road. The phone itself is small and could probably be mounted to my steering wheel like a steering wheel control.
A clip on Bluetooth mic and a Bluetooth remote mounted on the steering wheel might be a way to go?
I would tether the tablet to the phone via Wifi for the Internet connection.

never heard of it, but it is a nice idea.
maybe you can mirrorlink your phone to your tablet? losing control of the tablet though ...
my personal setup right now is a nexus7 (wifi only) with music and offline-navigation connected through AUX/headphone jack and my phone connected via BT to the stereo. i can control the phonebook and dial from the car stereo and of course answer calls with just one button. but the smartphone-part of my oneplus is pretty much useless as long as im driving.

Imagine you have a normal bluetooth stereo in your car. When you get in your car your phone automatically connect. If you receive a call it will come through on the cars speakers. and so on..

For my setup, I don't have a normal stereo in my car, my tablet is the stereo, so I need hands free capabilities so my phone can connect to my tablet(Stereo). Since its illegal to be using your phone if it is not connected to handsfree in my country. (New Zealand)

mmhh... nice, but I really dislike the thought of only a software volume... plus no FM is a no-go for me as traffic messages are quite OK here in Germany
But it is a nice project!

There is hardware volume, the buttons on the steering wheel. They also have next song mute and so on. and you can get FM easily by using this http://www.sdrtouch.com/, you can get a device for about $10 and you can get way more than FM radio, you can get police scanners and so on

I bought the SDR-Touch radio app and it's good for what it does and is still one of a kind for Android.
But the downsides of SDR include somewhat limited audio quality and high CPU and power usage and the related heat.
