Black HTC bootanimation and Black HTC downanimation
Flashable zip
Enjoy
P.S.
Q: Can you flash this zip with CWM?
A: Yes if the rom developer keeps the HTC names and HTC location (/system/customize/resource).
(For example:
* On Mike's ARHD ROM bootanimation and downanimation are located in /system/customize/resource but renamed to bootanimation.zip and downanimation.zip
You've got to find where the boot & down animation are located in your ROM and you just chang them using Root Explorer or any other File manager.
Credits
All of the above work is courtesy of mexxxico, i only resized the images and fixed the bootanimation for the One, so please don't forget to thank him too..

Added a flashable zip for you guys.. Please try it and give me some feedback.
Thank you.

Thanks for the animations - always hated the white background burning my retinas.... works perfectly when renamed appropriately and copied to the correct folder.

"On Mike's ARHD ROM bootanimation is located in /data/local" .. That's incorrect. They both reside in "system/customize/resource" ... Maybe that's changed on 12.2 but I doubt it. They are 100% located in the same folder as I'm running my own modified version of ARHD 12.1.

Carrier-branded boot and down animations are separate files from the stock ones.
For my China Unicom Dual Sim One, the boot and down animations are named “CU_bootup_animation.zip" and “CU_shutdown_animation.zip" respectively, instead of “hTC_bootup_one.zip” and “hTC_downanimation.zip". The two stock files are present.
What I did was to rename the black custom animation ZIPs to match the carrier ZIPs. Replacing the stock ZIPs won't work because the phone is not looking for those two files.
Look around in your /system/customize/resource/ folder; I'm pretty sure you'll find your carrier's animation ZIPs. To be sure, look at the XML file in this folder for this particular string:
Code:
animation="/system/customize/resource/CARRIERNAMEBOOTANIMATION.zip" />
Sent from my HTC 802w using Tapatalk
---------- Post added at 08:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:46 PM ----------
And if your carrier branding includes some obnoxiously loud and long startup and shutdown sounds, replace them with the two MP3s in the attached ZIP. These are half-a-second silent MP3s.
Note that this is NOT a flashable ZIP.

Thanks man:victory:

Can these be renamed to be used w ROMS using "bootanimation.zip" instead of "hTC_bootup_one.zip"?

In 62 they have the same name as those in the zip. Just copy the files, not the folder and place them in /system/customize/resource

P.S.
Q: Can you flash this zip with CWM?
A: No, because each ROM developer animations placed in different locations.
(For example:
* On Mike's ARHD ROM bootanimation is located in /data/local and downanimation is located in /system/customize/resource
* On Baadnews InsertCoin One X bootanimation and downanimation are probably located in /system/customize/resource...)

Now I just need to get rid of the white HTC splash screen, but I believe we need S-OFF to do that.
I just want to say that even your black animations are nice, the background is not really black
I made a true black background version for those who want it.

* Added CWM flashable zips. (No need to read all I wrote if you want to install through cwm just download the ones with the CWM tag! =D The sound works on all roms now! Give it a shot and try it! The bootanimation runs in the same order with the GIF Files
First the Star Wars Title then Droid and R2D2 Pops up in the end
Download link on the bottom of the post under Attached Files
This is the first thing I share on XDA so forgive me if anything is wrong. The bootanim is so cool, just give it a shot =)
Steps on how to install:
Your device must be rooted
Transfer the bootanimation.zip to your phone
Copy it to system/media with a root explorer (Replace the old one)
It runs very smoothly and if you're a StarWars fan just like me, you'll like it a lot =D
The same animation is now available with PowerOn sound! So if you want the bootanimation with the sound, you have to flash the sounded file under attached files via CWM this time. (The normal (without sound) bootanimation.zip was supposed to be installed via a root explorer!)
There you go!
Thanks,
Berk.
Edit: I just played with the folders. Better now.
There's also another edition of the bootanimation which doesnt include the first two parts, only the gif with the R2D2 plays: http://db.tt/10IqtCii (Credits go to sgs2.5 for uploading and sharing this one =) )
Alternative mediafire download link for the whole animation: http://www.mediafire.com/?1micez0zgnmz2dc
2) Another way to install the bootanimation!
CWM Flashable zips added! :
Here we go,
I made some CWM5 packages for the Samsung Galaxy S2 (flashable with ROM
Manager) with the original R2D2 bootanimations in them. I can't test the one
with sound because my rom doesn't support it.
Flash at own risk. Make a full backup first, do whatever you must do not to loose whatever is on your phone! Don't complain to me if you mess up your phone! You rooted it
The animations are copied to /data/local/ which overrules the one you might have in
/system/data/ . A logo in /system/data/ (for instance a pink aokp pony
remains untouched.
The bootsound (where applicable) is copied to /system/etc/ and overwrites an
old one if it's there. If you wanna loose the sound. simply delete PowerOn.wav from /system/etc/.
The ´no sound´ versions don´t remove or overwrite PowerOn.wav if it´s already present.
Oh,, flash them 'certificate verification' OFF. Inserting a valid certificate scks blls, so I didn't.
R2D2 animation only, CWM (no sound): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36551347/XD...SGS2 CWM5 Bootanimation R2D2 no sound TVW.zip

StarWars logo+Droid logo+R2D2 animation, CWM (no sound): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36551347/XD...mation Android StarWars R2D2 no sound TVW.zip
Credits go to sgs2.5 for his great contribution!
Please click the Thanks button if you like it
Sound and the bootanim works for most of the devices now thanks to sgs2.5! Hydrogen-Ics and the AOKP ROMs are supported now as well. CWM Flashable link in the 1st post.
If you're on a rooted stocklike ICS rom (e.g. NEAT Rom) Just rename the system/etc/PowerOn.wav to PowerOn.ogg after flashing "Flash this one with CWM Bootanimation Complete with sound TVW.zip"! Feel free to ask away if you encounter any problems!
VOLUME FIX for BOOTANIMATION(sound) ;-)
According to me its just fine but if you want to crank up the volume a little during boot do the following;
edit the file "build.prop" in /system/ (set system to r/w before editing)
add or alter the following setting/line ;
persist.sys.boot_volume=100
save the file and reboot your phone

Hey dude I noticed you had changed the size in the desc.txt file and resized images to 400x800 (S2 resolution).
I went ahead and resized the boot animation to 720x1280(Galaxy S3).
I thought we would give the user the option to select the resolution they wanted.
Im sure there are many other Star Wars Fans!
Here's a link dude.

Did my version not work correctly for you?
Yeah all I did to make that previously posted bootani fit our phones is change the desc.txt file. The images themselves don't have to be 720x1280 because the desc.txt controls the size that they are displayed. Does that make sense?
I have to admit, I started to download your version but noticed that it is 43 megabytes. This is quite big for a bootanimation. The smaller the better. I personally use .jpeg format instead of .png for most of my personal bootanis because .jpeg generally creates a smaller image file size.
I have to ask how you went about to re-sizing the images?

Are you creating these on a Mac or Windows? I created mine on a Mac and the white flicker is caused from the hidden .ds_store file that Mac creates in every file folder.

Definitely getting the white flashing. Looks decent other than that.
I did it with root explorer. Just placed the file in data/local and put the permission to rw--r--r and rebooted. Make sure you mount system as r/w, and it's as simple as that.

cwm flashed your file but it didn't play the sound effects of the boot animation ... only the stock one
another problem is, it's not occupying the full screen making it less impressive than in the video.

Sound: rename the droid sound file to PowerOn.ogg and copy it to /system/media/audio/UI (do not forget to save the original PowerOn file if you want to go back to it)
Full screen: I have tried to modify the desc.txt file to make this animation works on full screen but each time I tried, I just ended with a black screen during boot...
Hopefully someone can get this full screen as it looks good now but full screen would be awesome!!

Have tried again: made it work!
So, if you want to enable custom bootanim (skip that if your rom already support custom bootanim):
-flash the provided CWM_CustomBootanimation_Enable.zip (do not reboot yet!)
-flash the provided bootanimation_clockgears.zip
-reboot
Now you have working custom bootanimation
Now, install droid bootanim:
-backup /system/media/audio/UI/PowerOn.ogg
-delete bootanimation.zip from /system/media
-copy the provided PowerOn.ogg file in /system/media/audio/UI (permissions RW-R--R--)
-copy the provided Bootanimation.zip in /system/media (permissions RW-R--R--)
-reboot
Now you should have full screen droid bootanim and sound
Credits to anbech for his great work in making possible to use custom bootanim

i dont mind you guys using my work, but the least thing you could do is give me the credit/thanks for it...
I made a few animations based on this one. Optimised it for ICS and for the SGS3. Thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1567
Original, optimised for SGS3:
(this gif is shortened and not the full animation)
Ice Cream Sandwich
http://alpha-techs.co.uk/files/matt...M_BootAnimation_SGS3_ICS_No_Loop_Original.zip
JellyBean
http://alpha-techs.co.uk/files/matt...azr_M_BootAnimation_SGS3_JB_Loop_Original.zip
You can use the ICS on JellyBean if you want, but DO NOT use the JellyBean one on ICS.
ICS Blue , optimised for SGS3:
(this gif is shortened and not the full animation)
Ice Cream Sandwich
http://alpha-techs.co.uk/files/matt...M_BootAnimation_SGS3_ICS_No_Loop_ICS_Blue.zip
JellyBean
http://alpha-techs.co.uk/files/matt...azr_M_BootAnimation_SGS3_JB_Loop_ICS_Blue.zip
PowerOn noise
PowerOn.ogg
http://alpha-techs.co.uk/files/matt/bootanimations/RazR_M/PowerOn.ogg
Grab PowerOn.ogg file and copy it to /system/media/audio/ui
Or run this ADB command:
Code:
adb push droidsm.ogg /system/media/audio/ui/PowerOn.ogg
To install
To use these animations.
Go to this thread and use anbech's method. Don't forget to say thanks.
Download one of the files above, unzip it to get a file called "bootanimation.zip".
Put this bootanimation.zip in /data/local/ on your phone using root explorer or ES File Explorer.
OR
ADB the file using this command
Code:
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/
To test:
Reboot (lol)
OR
Use this ADB command (boot sound can't be tested this way):
Code:
adb shell bootanimation
(press CTRL+C to stop the animation)
Thanks

Yes!
anbechs mod works on pretty much all Samsung versions and is kernel independant. You only need CWM,BusyBox and some kind of root explorer (I can be persuaded to create a flashable CWM zip if need be). For AOSP or Cyangen, you won't need anbechs mod.
Follow the "To Install" section to the letter and you will be good to go.
EDIT:
Any problems with those animations I posted... Post them here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1567
Wont work for me, copied the boot animation to my internal SD card and copied it via root explorer first into data/local, CWM , flashed and installation aborted, then tried in system/media and same thing

1) pull your rom's DeskClock.apk from /system/app.
2) copy my png files to destination folder using 7-zip or other program.
3) then push back apk to /system/app...
Perfect! It's working, it's working!!
