cwm flashed your file but it didn't play the sound effects of the boot animation ... only the stock one
another problem is, it's not occupying the full screen making it less impressive than in the video.

Sound: rename the droid sound file to PowerOn.ogg and copy it to /system/media/audio/UI (do not forget to save the original PowerOn file if you want to go back to it)
Full screen: I have tried to modify the desc.txt file to make this animation works on full screen but each time I tried, I just ended with a black screen during boot...
Hopefully someone can get this full screen as it looks good now but full screen would be awesome!!

Have tried again: made it work!
So, if you want to enable custom bootanim (skip that if your rom already support custom bootanim):
-flash the provided CWM_CustomBootanimation_Enable.zip (do not reboot yet!)
-flash the provided bootanimation_clockgears.zip
-reboot
Now you have working custom bootanimation
Now, install droid bootanim:
-backup /system/media/audio/UI/PowerOn.ogg
-delete bootanimation.zip from /system/media
-copy the provided PowerOn.ogg file in /system/media/audio/UI (permissions RW-R--R--)
-copy the provided Bootanimation.zip in /system/media (permissions RW-R--R--)
-reboot
Now you should have full screen droid bootanim and sound

I made a few animations based on this one. Optimised it for ICS and for the SGS3. Thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1567
Original, optimised for SGS3:
(this gif is shortened and not the full animation)
Ice Cream Sandwich

JellyBean
http://alpha-techs.co.uk/files/matt...azr_M_BootAnimation_SGS3_JB_Loop_Original.zip
You can use the ICS on JellyBean if you want, but DO NOT use the JellyBean one on ICS.
ICS Blue , optimised for SGS3:

PowerOn noise
PowerOn.ogg
http://alpha-techs.co.uk/files/matt/bootanimations/RazR_M/PowerOn.ogg
Grab PowerOn.ogg file and copy it to /system/media/audio/ui
Or run this ADB command:
Code:
adb push droidsm.ogg /system/media/audio/ui/PowerOn.ogg
To install
To use these animations.
Go to this thread and use anbech's method. Don't forget to say thanks.
Download one of the files above, unzip it to get a file called "bootanimation.zip".
Put this bootanimation.zip in /data/local/ on your phone using root explorer or ES File Explorer.
OR
ADB the file using this command
Code:
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/
To test:
Reboot (lol)
OR
Use this ADB command (boot sound can't be tested this way):
Code:
adb shell bootanimation
(press CTRL+C to stop the animation)

Yes!
anbechs mod works on pretty much all Samsung versions and is kernel independant. You only need CWM,BusyBox and some kind of root explorer (I can be persuaded to create a flashable CWM zip if need be). For AOSP or Cyangen, you won't need anbechs mod.
Follow the "To Install" section to the letter and you will be good to go.
EDIT:
Any problems with those animations I posted... Post them here:

I have complied the original post's off all the bootanimation threads in the G2/DZ forum. Feel free to add your bootanimations to this list. Please do not ask questions in this thread. It is only intended to have final bootanimations.
[WIP] Post Your Bootanimations Here
I really like the stock G2 boot image, but without being animated, it felt very stiff and boring. So I added some animation to it. It's very simple, with the fading grey lines at the top and bottom moving to the left slowly:

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
(this is a low quality GIF, the actual animation looks better, I promise)
I made this mostly for myself, but it turned out better than I expected so I wanted to share it. This is my very first boot animation, so be gentle in your criticism. This is an 800x480 boot animation, so it should work on other devices with that screen resolution, though I don't know why you'd want a G2 boot screen on your Nexus One or Droid Incredible.
To use this animation, use adb or a root explorer app to put the file in /data/local and make sure it's named bootanimation.zip. The file is attached below, or you can download it from MediaFire.
UPDATE: I just finished the modified version of this boot animation that replaces the T-Mobile logo with the HTC logo. Aside from that, they're the same. The new one is attached below, or you can grab it from MediaFire.
Enjoy!

I didn't make the original work. I just modified the information so that it tailored the specs of the G2.
Code:
adb devices (optional, only to see if adb sees your phone)
adb remount
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
(if this doesn't work, try pushing to /system/media also)
Now to test if it worked type:
Code:
adb shell bootanimation
<press ctrl+c to quit>
Info on BIOS is for G2.
*Update* 01/03/11

Okay...WE NOW HAVE SOUND!!
First off, thanks to mrdaviso for script and instructions from spiicytuna.
My apologies to amazinglarry311, credit goes to him/her for the enablesound script.
enablebootsound scripts can be found here:
Enable Sound Boot
Here's how I did it:
Flash zip file from recovery.
reboot
Place android_audio.mp3 on sdcard root (change name of android_audio.zip to android_audio.mp3)
adb shell(I am assuming you are root)
enablebootsound(mine wasn't already enabled)
newbootsound
You can also use this script to install bootanimation now. ( I still prefer the old way)
place bootanimation.zip on sdcard root
newbootanim
A "Thanks" will do.

Hi all. This isnt new but for those of you that havent found it yet this is the Xoom Honeycomb boot animation feel free to download. But I need assistance, after installing it when the animation ends and it is about to loop there is a quick flash to white screen and then it continues. Not too big of a deal but was wondering if anyone could help me, Im kind of a perfectionist but have no idea how to fix it myself. Thanks
Heres a vid of what it looks like
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSWnKu5hr7g&feature=player_embedded
and I will attach the bootanimation.zip
For those that dont know. All you have to do is take the .zip, rename it to bootanimation.zip and copy it to the /system/media folder. Backup your old boot file if you want.
Edit: Found a ported version for the droid x that looks pretty good going to attach that. I also attached two landscape bootanimations. One has the Honeycomb Bee at the beginning and the other doesnt. Just thought you guys might want to see it.
[WIP] Post Your Bootanimations Here
****Disclaimer!!! I am not responsible for any errors or issues that may come from using these directions. This method has been tested and used by me on the T-Mobile G2 ONLY.****
Ok, I like playing with boot animations on my device. And I have this quirk for running everything I can on the device, rather than through ADB, unless I have to. While digging through assorted threads, here and abroad, I ran across a nifty app called GScript lite, free on the Market, and amazingly useful. On another thread, someone pointed out that if you copy a boot animation to /data/local, it will take precedence over any boot animations that your favorite ROM may install. So, I decided to simplify changing boot ani's, so I can swap them around whenever I feel like it. I now have it down to about 30 sec, and decided to post this for everyone interested to try it. Ok, so, here's the details;
Requirements: GScript lite, file manager, new boot animations
1) Download the animation you want to try to your SDcard
2) Copy the zip to /mnt/sdcard
3) Rename animation file "bootanimation.zip"
4) Open GScript and hit menu
a) Type in whatever you want to call the script in the top
box
b) Make sure "Needs SU?" is checked
c) Type cp /mnt/sdcard/bootanimation.zip /data/local
<enter>
reboot
d) Now hit "save"
5) Just press your scriptname in the list and enjoy!
From here on out, to change boot animations, all you need to do is copy the renamed file to SD root, and click on that script, phone will reboot showing your brand new animation. "Share and Enjoy!"
I'd like to thank the GScript devs for a very useful tool, and Kaanha for the commands
Click the Thanks button if this helps you.

Bootanimation for CM7.
"CM7-3D"
1. Download bootanimation.zip
2. Put it on your sdcard
3. open terminal enter these commands:
su
cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /system/media/
reboot
If it doesn't work in /system/media, try in /system/local
You can also use any root explorer app to move this from your sd card manually.
DO NOT TRY AND FLASH FROM RECOVERY, IT DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY.
Enjoy.
[WIP] Post Your Bootanimations Here
Here are some bootanimations I created. Some of these are pointless. I just made them to mess with my friends.
Im open to input, sugestions, etc....as I want to create a more smoother version.
::Instruction::
Download the zip and place it in /system/media
You should already have a file named bootanimation.zip...simply replace it with the downloaded one, of course renaming to bootanimation.zip
If it doesn't work in /system/media than
try in /system/local

You all should know the warnings, so dont bother unless you know what your doing.

I also added an old school ending.

I know you probably intend to create an animation, with thoes files, but with the current setup, you could have just left it with one png and set the fps to 1 ...since there is no animation.
Cant wait to see what you crank out...feel free to share.

This is a port of another boot animation I saw in another thread (if anyone knows which one, let me know and I'll give the original author credit). If you want the added "fatality dun-dun-dunnnnnnn" sound, download the attached "android_audio.zip" file, unzip it, and put it in /system/media (if you're running a CM-based Gingerbread build like GingerVillain 1.5 or PyroMod 1.1, rename finishhim.zip as bootanimation.zip, put android_audio.mp3 and bootanimation.zip on the root of your SD card, and follow this guide).
*psst...this boot animation might be illegal in Australia *
[WIP] Post Your Bootanimations Here
Hey Guys. Here is the boot animation extracted from the Destroyed ROM which, to the best of my knowledge, was only available for the EVO. I I thought it looked pretty cool so I had my friend extract it for me and I thought I'd share it with you guys. I hope you like it!
Installing:
I'm not sure how other people like to install their boot animations, however if you don't know how here is how I do it:
*Must have super user permissions
1.Download and Open Terminal Emulator from the android market
2.Download bootanimation.zip from this thread and put it on your sd card
3.Enter this code into Terminal Emulator:
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
cp /locationOfFile/bootanimation.zip /system/media
where the /locationOfFile/bootanimation.zip would just be the directory where you have the zip file. if you just put it on the root of your sd card it would be /sdcard/bootanimation.zip and if you downloaded it using your phone it would probably be under /sdcard/download/bootanimation.zip
restart your phone and it should work. Hope this helps!
Edit:
*Be sure to backup your old bootanimation.zip if you think you may ever want to go back to it!

Hello, I tried searching around but couldn't find any similar problem.
I've created my own bootanimation.zip which can be downloaded here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=576GF823 Its Red Wings Related, showing the Center Ice at Joe Louis Arena, then an awesome goal by zetterberg, then loops center ice again. That all works great.
The problem I've run into is that the first time it plays any of the animations they are slow. and when I'm only playing the goal once it goes in slow mo, if i loop it, the 2nd time it plays fast as it should. Is there anyway to fix this? I originally was just doing the goal, then the center ice on loop. I tried putting 1 center ice first, hoping it would take the lag and allow the goal to play full speed, but it doesn't.
Any help is appreciated.
Omg so kewls
I would seriously enjoy a boot animation done with the Android Police video Intro.

Make sure you have R/W permissions in system/media before copying over.
2 - Copy the files from the S4_Original_BootAnimation.zip to the system/media folder replacing the original files.
bootsamsung.qmg
bootsamsungloop.qmg
shutdown.qmg
3 - Copy the file from the S4_Original_BootAnimation.zip to the system/media\audio\ui folder replacing the original files
PowerOn.ogg
PowerOff.ogg
(I renamed my originals just to be safe.)
4 - Don't forget to match permissions on the files as well. If you simply rename the originals to .bak or something like that, the files will be right under it basically rw-r--r-- on all files.
Alternately, if you do not want to download; you can make a copy of, and rename the bootsamsung.qmg bootsamsungloop.qmg and shutdown.qmg that are already located in your system/media folder, and PowerOn.ogg it is already located in your system/media\audio\ui folder
If you want to disable sound go to:
system/media/audio/ui and search for PowerOn.ogg and PowerOff.ogg. Just rename it to PowerOn.ogg.backup and PowerOff.ogg.backup (or any other extension). Well done!
Reboot your phone and you should no longer see the T-Mobile animations or sound.
If you what to got back T-Mobile animations or sound and you delete the ones on your phone you can downland the form here https://www.dropbox.com/s/gclsix5qtapxjq5/S4T-Mobile_Original_BootAnimation.rar?v=0rc-s

Flashable zip
Enjoy
P.S.
Q: Can you flash this zip with CWM?
A: Yes if the rom developer keeps the HTC names and HTC location (/system/customize/resource).
(For example:
* On Mike's ARHD ROM bootanimation and downanimation are located in /system/customize/resource but renamed to bootanimation.zip and downanimation.zip
You've got to find where the boot & down animation are located in your ROM and you just chang them using Root Explorer or any other File manager.

All of the above work is courtesy of mexxxico, i only resized the images and fixed the bootanimation for the One, so please don't forget to thank him too..

Carrier-branded boot and down animations are separate files from the stock ones.
For my China Unicom Dual Sim One, the boot and down animations are named “CU_bootup_animation.zip" and “CU_shutdown_animation.zip" respectively, instead of “hTC_bootup_one.zip” and “hTC_downanimation.zip". The two stock files are present.
What I did was to rename the black custom animation ZIPs to match the carrier ZIPs. Replacing the stock ZIPs won't work because the phone is not looking for those two files.
Look around in your /system/customize/resource/ folder; I'm pretty sure you'll find your carrier's animation ZIPs. To be sure, look at the XML file in this folder for this particular string:
Code:
animation="/system/customize/resource/CARRIERNAMEBOOTANIMATION.zip" />
Sent from my HTC 802w using Tapatalk
---------- Post added at 08:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:46 PM ----------
And if your carrier branding includes some obnoxiously loud and long startup and shutdown sounds, replace them with the two MP3s in the attached ZIP. These are half-a-second silent MP3s.
Note that this is NOT a flashable ZIP.
Sent from my HTC 802w using Tapatalk

In 62 they have the same name as those in the zip. Just copy the files, not the folder and place them in /system/customize/resource
Post #1 - Download files for enabling and disabling Custom Boot Animations on Stock Samsung ROM
Post #2 - Simple, detailed instructions on how to use bootanimation.zip files
Post #3 - Custom Boot-Animations Files and How to Create your own
This is for enabling bootanimation.zip file, and is required only for Stock-Based Samsung ROMs
For CM/AOSP/AOKP ROMs, the bootanimation.zip is already enabled, you simply have to overwrite the zip file with a custom animation zip so head down to post #2
Requirements
1. Root access
2. Custom Recovery like CWM
3. Busybox - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox
Initial Instructions for Stock-Based ROMs Instructions :
1. Download the Enable and Disable flashable zips from the above post
(Disable file is to undo the changes in case the bootanimation_enable doesn't work or you want to revert to stock Samsung bootanimation)
2. Place them in your phone
3. Boot into CWM recovery
4. Flash the Bootanimation_enable.zip file
5. Reboot
(If it worked, instead of Samsung bootanimation you will see "android" written across the screen)

Instructions
Requirements :
1. Root access
2. ES File Explorer - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop
How to change your bootanimation?
1. Get a root explorer like ES File Manager and mount /system folder to Read-Write
2. Navigate to /system/media folder and paste any bootanimation.zip file
8. Select the bootanimation.zip and go into properties
9. Select "Change Permission" option and select rw-r--r-- properties.
10. Reboot to enjoy the custom animation
Note : If getting a blank screen, then the bootanimation.zip file was not read or made properly, but your phone will still boot up after it.

Yes it will work, it's packed right and desc.txt is correct as well. If you copy and paste it in /system/media and give it rw-r-r permissions, it will run without any problems.
BUT the resolution of the images are high horizontally and the desc.txt has the resolution set to 320x320, so the image will appear squeezed in if you are Galaxy Grand but if you are on a mdpi device with a lower resolution you should be ok
If you are on Grand, unpack it change the first line for resolution in desc.txt to 480 320 24 instead of 320 320 24. Then zip them back without compress (Store mode), and you are good to go
hmmm awesome man..

If you are on custom CM based ROMs, you need backup of your original bootanimation.zip, you can simply paste it in /system/media and you will be back on default animation
If you are on stock firmware or stock based ROM then you need simply flash the CWM_CustomBootanimation_Disable I have mentioned in the OP for 4.1.2 as well as 4.2.2. Flash according to the firmware you are on.

Some of the custom animations get looped infinitely.
I think the desc.txt files need to change, as i have seen them like this, in the case of bootanimationcm.zip:
Code:
480 480 24p 1 0 part0p 0 0 part1
which I think should be
Code:
480 480 24
p 1 0 part0
p 2 0 part1

They are meant to have an infinite loop. When your phone is booting up, it can take anywhere from few seconds to 1-3 minutes depending on how you are using it and if it's updating. Once the phone is ready to boot, the bootanimation is terminated by the phone in all devices.
If we use "p 2" instead of "p 0", and your phone takes longer than a few seconds, your phone will get a blank screen once the bootanimation is done running twice (2 represents run it twice)

Updated 2nd post with previews of the current bootanims
If you want other bootanims ported, just post link to .gif or an already existing animation that needs porting
How can I create a bootanimation from a gif?

First you go to www.online-convert.com and convert your .gif to .jpg images (they're going to be inside a .rar file, just extract it). Now that you've got your images follow these instructions http://www.droidbeans.com/how-to-create-your-own-boot-animation-rooted-devices/ .
First few tries are gonna be complete fails, but when you get the hang of it you will see how easy it actually is to make bootanims xD

Moved to the S5
So, I recently bought a S5 and I'm going to be more active in its forums, but I'm not abandoning this thread For more up to date info on ported bootanims, please check out THIS thread in the future and post HERE which bootanimations you want ported to the S3 Mini. Take care

Ok, but keep in mind that it won't be a moving animated picture as it's just a normal .jpg
In other words, it will just sit there on your screen until your phone boots up. It won't move or something like that [emoji14]

koragg97 will DMOD v7 work with stock rom ANF3?
Or do you know of a better Modded Rom than DMOD v7?

No problem. DMod should work fine on any firmware, because it overwtites the existing system with the modded one.
My S3 Mini is on this ROM and I love it
Btw, DMod v7 isn't released afaik, v6 is the latest and it's also gr8. Try both for a few days and choose which one you want.
It's ready
Installation:
1. Enable Custom Boot Animations
2. Download Turrican.part1.rar and Turrican.part2.rar from attachments
3. Extract them
4. Copy/Paste bootanimation.zip into system/media folder with Root Browser (or similar tool)
5. [OPTIONAL] Copy/Paste PowerOn.ogg into system/media/audio/ui overwriting the original file (make backup first)
 Enjoy your Turrican styled S3 Mini
Turrican
I'm not gonna add this bootanimation to the OP, because it's specifically made for you (the name). Hope you like it.

Sadly, no. I was just looking through my old topics and saw you posted
Seach around in Google and you'll probably find another tutorial for it. I was very busy with finishing my last year in high school lately and now have university exams so can't be bothered by pretty much anything :\ sorry, hope you understand. Cheers
