1. Install Tasker and Secure Settings
2. Open Secure Settings
3. Helper tab - Install Helper
4. Navigate to Settings - Security - Device Administrators - Checkmark Tasker and Secure Settings
Do the rest of the steps while at home/wherever you want PIN off.

7. New screen opens, select "Scan" button.
8. Push your back key

12. Select "Password/PIN" - Disabled should show at the top(if not, press Enabled button to toggle it) - Save icon in bottom left
13. "Back" key twice
Your PIN is now enabled while at home. To enable it when away from home's cell towers....
14. Long press the "task" you named earlier in step 9(PIN Off) - Add Exit Task - New Task(give it a name, PIN on)
15. Select "+" button again - Plugin - Secure Settings - Edit button
16. Scroll and select Password/PIN again
17. Press the "disabled" button to "enable" PIN on, type PIN in fields - Save icon again in bottom left
Done! If it ends up not working randomly at home, occassionally go into Tasker, select your saved profile, Scan button(rescans cell towers in your area)
I flashed this and now I have no upper status bar and when I pull down I get nothing. I have tried pulling down from multiple apps. Run X13. Is there a way to revert? It would also be nice to have a way (Power button, widget) to switch between hide and show modes.
Note I have 2 PIEs but none running from the top. I also use a downward gesture to go to apps on Apex Launcher and use DMD gestures as well but not from the top.

It seems like it worked as intended except for when you pull down from the top, you have to pull down from the "tippy top". Try to swipe down from the top at different positions to see what i mean.
Launcher gestures to expand status bar will work and also in PIE i made a button to expand status bar and that's how I use it.
I'll make a revert as soon as I can for those that prefer to go back.

I have tried swiping multiple times, and places and I just can't get it to work. If you had a shortcut or widget to make it pull down that might be handy to just make sure its working period which I really have no way of knowing.
How do I make a button in PIE for it? I tried DMD for hide/show status bar and that did not work - that probably is the overall hide/show function and not the open function.
Update - I setup PIE (LMT) to open Notification Bar and it does not work. So the problem has to be that it is just not working for some reason. Anything I can do to debug it for you? Logcat? Let me know.
Update 2 - Looks like XP14 is going to arrive any second, so you will have to make sure this works on 14 for me to test further. Let me know.

Sorry for the delayed response bud. I just updated it for XP14 and increased the "pull-down" area by almost double so it should pull down a lot better now.
Check out post 2 for how to add button to Expand Notifications in your PIE :good:

I'm confused with your issue. Quick PIN Mod made what setting disappear? Phone can't boot where it hangs at what point?
These MODs should have nothing to do with your issue. Flashing the REVERTs at the end of post 1 will bring you back to square one easily. Let us know.

Need more info...what ROM are you on(just making sure)? Does flashing the revert fix it? "Go into settings" means menu key - android settings? Does it force close or what exactly happens?

[MOD] Add Mobile Data & other Toggles to Quick Settings (Requires Sqlite & Root)
Updated to add the other missing toggles. Thank you Poetic Vampire.
Update 5-21-14: I finally updated to 4.3 and had to redo this mod. Just confirming it worked for me.
DISCLAIMER: This was done on a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4. Model # SGH-M919. It may or may not work on other devices. If you have another device and it doesnt work thats probably why. So please be careful. This requires root as well. And please make a Nandroid backup before making changes. Of course please dont blame me if your device goes thermonuclear. It worked for me and it should work for anyone running stock rooted like I am. Again please take the time to do a Nandroid backup first just in case. It takes a little more time, but is worth it just in case you have an issue. So far I haven't had any issues if you name or spell something wrong. Unlike a build prop theres less chance of a brick. OK, so onto the Mods.
Hello all. After reading several threads about asking about the missing data toggle from the notification area I did some research and testing and figured out how to get it back with root and sqlite editor using the stock rom. I remembered a thread about a similar issue with the Verizon S4 and it missing the Wifi toggle. I used the same steps and the sqlite editor from here and was able to add the data toggle back.
Here are the steps I used for the Mobile Data Toggle, read on below for how to add others. (Thanks to The Poetic Vampire)
1) Download sqlite editor app. I got it from here.
2) Open the app and give it root permissions. It should populate a list.
3) Scroll and Tap the "Settings Storage"
4) Tap "Settings.db"
5) Tap "System"
6) Scroll down until you find "notification_panel_active_app_list", tap to highlight it. I noticed its a little hard to get it highlighted because it seems to want to highlight the one under it. So you might have to tap the one right above it to get it highlighted. Make sure its the notification_panel_active_app_list, and NOT the notification_panel_default_active_app_list. I picked the wrong one the first time and it didnt work.
7) Once it is highlighted tap the phones menu button.
8) Tap "Edit Record"
9) You'll see a list of all the toggles that are currently enabled to show in notification area.
10) At the bottom of the list add ; and the words MobileData then another ;. So it will look like this at the end. ;AirplaneMode;MobileData; Then press Save.
11) Reboot and you should have a data toggle now. You can now use the edit feature and move it anywhere you want in the list of toggles.
Note: After I edited it and rebooted the "notification_panel_active_app_list" moved closer to the bottom of the list. So if you go back in and dont see it scroll further down.
OK. Thanks to member "The Poetic Vampire" you can also add several more of the missing toggles. Use the same method as above. Just add the words exactly as below to get SmartPause, Brightness (Thanks Mister Junky), and Wifi Hotspot. You must end the string with ; for this to work.
SmartPause;
Brightness; (mentioned by Misterjunky)
WiFiHotspot;
UPDATE: Im getting a lot of requests for the flashlight toggle so I decided to add this to the OP so that others with the same question have the answer without having to read the whole thread. As far as I know this isnt possible using this method. In order for it to work it would have to be a toggle that was originally there, but removed. Like T-Mobile removing the Data toggle. Im sure it is possible in a custom rom, but that is way out of my expertise. For flashlight toggle I use Power Toggles in the play store. It works great to set up almost any toggle you want. And highly customizable. Ive added a pic here to show the way I have Power Toggles set up. The lightning bolt shaped toggle is flashlight. Hope this helps.

Thanks for this! Works like a charm!

Awesome, thanks! I was missing this because whenever i'd drop down to EDGE if I toggled airplane mode it would jump back on HSPA and I really had no reason to kill the cell connection.
Thank you for this mod, this was the only thing making me want an international 9505 rom.
Followed directions exactly to the T and I can confirm it works on Wicked_V4.
Again thanx OP.
Worked fantastic! Much appreciated, Thanks Buddy!

I was actually wondering this too. If there is a toggle for the flashlight, then all we would need is the exact name of it. Then follow the same instructions. Im not sure Ive seen any galaxies with the flashlight/ torch toggle? I use Power Toggles to turn on the flash light for now. I dont think there is a "stock" way to add the flash light toggle to the dropdown. I have seen custom roms with it though.
Finally! I've been waiting for this mod since day one! No more widgets clogging up my home screen.

I did too. I tried adding torch, light, flash light, flashlight, and maybe a couple others and none worked. Unless it is a stock feature that was removed its not going to work unless it gets modded into a rom. If someone can figure out what the devs did that added it to their rom we might be able to figure it out. Im by no means a dev.

This totally works and I modified some other settings while I was at it. Thank you so much!
This should work for any 4.1.2 rom for the note 2 that has a working Xposed installer and MULTI-WINDOW capabilities.
THIS IS FAR FROM PERFECT
I have been wanting to make my device float and resize any app. I didn't put too much effort into it until recently. I finally got the settings down to make this possible.
Please keep in mind some apps (especially stock ones) don't like to be resized so they will almost become unusable if they are resized to small, this is one of many reasons why I previously said that this is far from perfect. On the plus side at least it will let you do ANY app !!!!
I used NEXT LAUNCHER PRO for this cause it supports MULTI-DPI a lot better than TW does, but you don't have to it will still work with TW but it makes some of the drawables look weird.
INSTRUCTIONS:
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO A CWM OR TWRP BACKUP AND VERIFY THE BACKUP WAS DONE PROPERLY BEFORE YOU CONTINUE
1: Install XPOSED INSTALLER V. 2.4 from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
Thanks to @rovo89
2: Install XPOSED APP SETTINGS V. 1.6 from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2072081
Thanks to @Tungstwenty
3: Install XPOSEDMULTIWINDOW240.APK from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048668
Thanks to @Scalee
Thanks to anyone I may have forgotten
MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO PROPERLY INSTALL THE FRAMEWORK, APPSETTINGS.APK, AND MULTIWINDOW240.APK BEFORE YOU CONTINUE
Once the above are installed and working properly as per the instructions in the OP's of the DEV's mentioned above, you can continue:
At this point REBOOT your phone just to be sure all the installations and settings stuck. Open Multi-Window and add an app to it just to make sure everything works properly so far.
Open the App Settings App in your app drawer, should look like the one in this picture:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Search for and open Android System, should look like the one in this picture:
At the top there is an ON/OFF slider (as seen in picture below), slide to the right to turn ON.
Then, CHANGE the DPI to 240, and the Screen (dp) to 800x1280 (also seen in same picture below).
At the top there is a save button, now is the time to hit that, a pop-up will show that says:
Apply Settings: Also kill the application so when it's relaunched it uses the new settings? Click YES
Immediately press and hold the power button to REBOOT.
After REBOOT open the App Settings App in your app drawer again and search for com.sec.android.app.FlashBarService, should look like the one in this picture:
At the top there is an ON/OFF slider (as seen in picture below), slide to the right to turn ON.
Then, CHANGE the DPI to 240, and the Screen (dp) to 480x854 (also seen in same picture below).
At the top there is a save button, now is the time to hit that, a pop-up will show that says:
Apply Settings: Also kill the application so when it's relaunched it uses the new settings? Click YES
Immediately press and hold the power button to REBOOT.
All done!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now to learn how to succesfully make any app that is added to your FlashBar, FLOATING, RESIZABLE.
Turn on MULTI-WINDOW and INSTEAD of dragging out the first app, just CLICK on it and it will open in full screen, It doesn"t look like it now but this will be your first floater lol.
Next drag any random app (like settings or something) out of the FlashBar and drop it.
Now you will notice at the top of the first app that was added to the MULTI-WINDOW now has a PIN on the top left.
Click on the PIN to make it GREEN , FLOATING and RESIZABLE now. To move it grab it by top near the center and pull it around. To resize grab the edge of the left, right, or bottom side and resize.
Next, touch the random second app that is now full screen and hit the back button once and it will go away.
Now with the floater at the bottom, open FlashBar again, find the next app you want to FLOAT, and once again just CLICK on it and it will open in full screen,
next drag any random app (like settings or something) out of the FlashBar and drop it again.
Now you will notice at the top of the first app that was added to the MULTI-WINDOW now has a PIN on the top left.
Click on the PIN to make it GREEN , FLOATING and RESIZABLE. To move it grab it by top near the center and pull it around. To resize grab the edge of the left, right, or bottom side and resize.
Next, touch the random second app that is now full screen and hit the back button once and it will go away.
Do you see a pattern now, do for any and as many apps you want open at once.
Also after you make an app floating you can press the pin again and watch the pin turn GREY and the app will stay floating in the background instead of foreground.
GREEN pin = app floating in foreground.
GREY pin = app floating in background.
When all said and done you should be able to do this with any app:
PROFIT!!!!!!!!!!!
The above mentioned module called XPOSED APP SETTINGS is a wonderful tool for changing individual apps to make them visually fit your liking. Everything I talk about in the next few paragraphs is in direct relation to XPOSED APP SETTINGS.
NOW FOR A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE
Screen density
The quantity of pixels within a physical area of the screen; usually referred to as DPI (dots per inch). For example, a "LOW" density screen has fewer pixels within a given physical area, compared to a "NORMAL" or "HIGH" density screen.
Font Scale
The size of the font in the amount of pre-allocated space; measured by percentage.
Resolution
The total number of physical pixels on a screen; usually known as Screen (dp).
Xlarge Resolution
extra large resolution
Locale
This allows you to change the language of any app individually; without changing your whole system to a different language.
Fullscreen
Force the app into fullscreen mode while hiding the status bar that is easily accessible by pulling down on the top of the screen.
Prevent the app from going into fullscreen mode. Keeps status bar on screen while the app is open.

Removes title bar from app. Every app I chose this for force closes so don't mark my words.
Keep Screen on
This will NOT let your screen turn off while the app is on the screen unless you hit the physical power button.
Show when phone locked
Leaves app open in the foreground of the lock screen while app is open and on the screen
Orientation
The ability to change whether an app opens (portrait or landscape). The dropdown consists of
(default app rotation). Uses whatever the default orientation that is already written into the app
Normal rotation = Will rotate screen normally
Always portrait = The ability to FORCE the app into portrait mode ONLY
Always landscape = The ability to FORCE the app into landscape mode ONLY
Force auto-rotation = The ability to FORCE the app to auto-rotate (will edit after tested).
Resident
Keeps any app in memory (running in background).
Insistent Notifications
Insistent notifications repeat their audio, vibration, and light settings continuously until canceled. These Notifications are typically used for events that require immediate and timely attention; such as an incoming call or the ringing of an alarm clock.
No BIG Notifications
Makes the app notification in the notification dropdown smaller, like a small preview instead of the normal show everything notification.
Permissions
Allows you to revoke permissions from any app of your choice.
If you've come this far than you probably know that some apps look like they might be sized bigger or smaller than other parts of the phone.
That's because the system doesn't change the DPI and Screen (dp) automatically with some/most apps.
After all the changes, the GALLERY app title bar is too big, meaning the DPI did not auto adjust. In order to make everything fit in the title bar you have to lower the DPI to anything lower than 240 for THIS app ONLY.
Every app will need it's own custom setting in order to get it the way you want it. Please DO NOT post that this exact setting did not work for any other app cause it MAY or MAY NOT. Consider yourself warned

HOW TO DISABLE XPOSED APP SETTINGS
Being that this MOD is not perfect, sometimes you might need to disable Xposed App Settings if something goes wrong (example: I made a change to an app that I didn't like, after reboot I went to change the settings back and noticed the app didn't show up in Xposed App Settings, even after several reboots).
TO FIX THIS:
Go to XPOSED INSTALLER in your app drawer (some roms like jedi master have the xposed installer built into a custom app like jedi tricks app that @ptmr3 made for his roms) anyway once in the installer, click on MODULES at the top right corner, then uncheck the box next to XPOSED APP SETTINGS.
NOW REBOOT. You will notice that all the Xposed App Settings aren't enabled anymore.
Then go back to your Xposed App Settings app and find the app you had problems with, that started this disable process.
Now change the settings back to a known good configuration. DON'T FORGET TO SAVE before exit.
Immediately go back to your XPOSED INSTALLER, click on modules and recheck the box next to XPOSED APP SETTINGS to renable it.
NOW REBOOT AGAIN
If you followed the instructions given, properly you should have everything back to the way it was before the problem occurred.

Works perfectly on Tweaked 2.4.1.
Now to try connecting this via HDMI to a 1080p monitor and, using a bluetooth mouse and KB, make this a portable PC.

I'm on master 16 with sabrekernel 35.6 with the ext2 system data and cache mod.
All of this is amazing with these .phones. I will be finally getting an mhl adapter in the near future. They aren't expensive.
I hadn't looked into Master too much because of the lack of multiwindow, but read in the dev thread that it was working past a certain version. So multiwindow (and this thread's particular mod) does indeed work on 16 for you?

This was done and tested on master 16 with sabrekernel 35.6 and the ext2 system, data, and cache mod. Confirmed. I'm waiting for a response from my brother in law that has an att note 2 with the same set up on whether it worked for him or not.
This is awesome gonna try tonight. Thanks bro. Got this link from the saber 32.2uc kernel thread you posted in.

My buddy has an LG G2 which has this feature that allows you to double tap on the screen to wake up the device. Is this possible on the note 3 either innately or with the help of an app?
Sorry to revive this thread, but i have the same question
You can get this on a rooted note 3. Some custom kernels and roms offer this functionality.

Which one
Someone should just make it a flashable zip and include the kernel needed or explain what kernel is needed before flashing. I too would be interested in a double tap to wake/sleep

I had the G2 for only a week and I still find myself double taping the note 3 sceen to wake it. +1 on this mod.
I want this feature too.
Needs to be implemented on the kernel side of things....why not just "tap" your home button?
gonna search a rom with this feature, please tell me if you are using one

It's not just about waking the phone but the double tap to sleep is why I'd like it mostly. Plus less wear and tear on the physical home button
I' used to home button also but double tap to sleep would be a great feature too

Are you guys forgetting about the Quick Glance feature on the phone? Or is it just hated in general. Does not put any wear and tear on the physical home button, but also wont add to the finger print mess already on the screen. Only drawback is that it does not work if the phone is not on a flat surface (which i think is the case for the double tap feature on the LG G2, i could be wrong though).
I activate this more on accident than doing in intentionally when i try to reach over my phone.
To enable (disable) and customize Quick Glance on Note 3, do as follows:
1. Open Settings and go to Controls
2. Under Motion Control, make sure Air Gesture is enabled, and then tap on Air Gesture
3. Tap on Quick Glance and use the sliding button on the top right to enable (or disable) it
4. To customize the information you want to see, you can check or uncheck the following information: Notification icons, Missed calls, Unread messages, Battery power and Current music info (Time & Date are always shown)
5. To use Quick Glance feature, put your device on a flat surface facing upwards, and when the screen is off, move you hand above the sensor Locate on the top right

Lol quick glance doesn't wake your phone. It's not the same thing we're taking about. And the lg g2 you can double tap to wake/sleep with the phone at any angle
I disabled quick glance, I dont use it at all.

Any possibilities of long pressing on shortcuts of notification bar will open more settings ? For example if i keep pressing on WIFI shortcut it should open WIFI settings. I have not rooted my phone yet. Its running on 6.0.1. This is normally available in HTC & SAMSUNG phones.

For Wi-Fi and Bluetooth you can click on the title below the icon and it will expand to show networks and devices as well as a more settings button. At least that's what I remember of Android M. I also remember being able to long press the icons to enter the settings for the toggle. Maybe that's just for the other buttons like cellular data.

Thanks for reply. I agree those little links below WIFI and BT opens quick setting in same notification window. Then there is more setting link to open full setting options. But that is not available for location services and other shortcuts.
Also those shortcuts are hardly manageable. Only few shortcuts can be added or deleted which is also under beta. Customization option is not available. Hard to believe for 6.0 version of android.

It's "fixed" on Android N. So you have that to look forward to in October or whenever they fully release it. It's also probably available in a custom ROM if you want to go that route.

Hopefully they will fix in Android N. My Nexus 5X still under warranty. Is it worth rooting Nexus ?
ViperOne 5.9.0. My notification bar all of a sudden won't stay visible. Typically I have a gesture in nova launcher to show / hide it, but this wasn't it.
Still I use that gesture to bring it back, but as soon as I switch to an app other than desktop, it hides. Then it looks like immersive mode, which I don't use - that I know of.
So I also used macrodroid to create immersive mode on off buttons, which seem to do nothing.
I am trying to avoid restoring back because I have storage issues, and I'd like to fix this now. But I will do that if I must / when I can.
Any ideas?
