Hey,
Is there any smart dock for SGS2 on the market? I mean no charging-only devices, but USB, HDMI and charging. That's the definition of 'smart' in my opinion.
Zoli

With the original Samsung dock it is not even possible to use USB data connection and USB charging at the same time. I always have to use the bluetooth connection when my S2 is in the dock. :-/

Is there something that works also for GS2? Don't mean "universal" but something that fits at least for all the most recents Samsung cellphones...

Official Hdmi dock

Saw this on engadget http://m.engadget.com/default/artic...ory=classic&subCategory=top&icid=eng_tp_click) does anyone know if and when it will be available in the uk?

Why does it have to be so ugly though!
I dont think it looks that bad but it would suit me better than a mhl cable if it supports charging through usb and not hdmi as i dont think my tv supports this
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
The official mhl cable has a micro usb socket on it so you can charge your phone with a usb charger while connected to your hdmi tv.

That looks damn good imo. I want one
I think it has not a hdmi port but just a micro usb port

Yes I saw that too but thought that they had updated it to include hdmi.

This dock has no HDMI, it does not even allow to connect to PC, or at least I read so.
It simply allows to charge the device and output audio.

According to the article, Engadget thinks it does.
£40 is pretty expensive if it's just a dumb dock. It would make more sense if it had hdmi out, but we'll probably have to wait a while to find out either way.
Why are there 2 buttons on the right of the dock? The S2 only has the power button on the right.
the 2 buttons on the side are the volume controls
they are on the wrong side.

What defines a 'wrong side' to put the volume controls on?
Amazon uk and Mobile Fun are selling these for £29.99.Unfortunately I'm not allowed to post links

So can you connect your phone to the pc and transfer files with this dock? On mobilefun it says "The official Samsung Desktop Dock is designed to hold your phone while simultaneously synchronising and charging it.", so I guess you can?

The fact that I doubt that the buttons on the dock do anything other than push the button down on the phone underneath similar to a gel case button. The fact that they are on the right would mean nothing underneath to push on. Also it would make no sense to put the button on a different side to the phones buttons as this would just confuse/piss off users.
If the buttons actually control the phone via usb then this is a needless expense and would explain why a simple dock is so expensive.

ac charger

Anyone know of a decent ac charger that works with the nexus? I have like 5 micro usb chargers from various old phones, but only one or two work with the nexus.
I used the one that came with the phone

I use the one that came with my Nexus One. It's 5W charger, like the Samsung wall wart, but has a cable that's a foot or so longer. I keep the Samsung at the girlfriend's. At work I use a 5V/.85a motorola that I found lying around.
Any brand name charger will work fine. Off brands...well...you get what you pay for sometimes.
Idk if itll help, but I have an HP Touchpad in the house, and the "barrel" like wall adapter and a random micro-USB charge with "AC" power as shown by the nexus.
tl;dr buy an HP touchpad charger on the cheap.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
i am currently using this one instead original charger,it works fine. works great on my samsung android phones and iphone4 , except ipad2.the package with a free usb cable that for samsung galaxy tab . so you need a normal android usb cable, charger really small and great lookinghttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150731518...18326&_sacat=See-All-Categories&_fvi=1&_rdc=1

[Q] Is there HDMI?

Probably stupid question but I am still confused. does this phone have HDMI out? I read it does but there is no port.
Yes, Same plug as your power.
Www.monoprice.com has cords for just a few bucks goodluck

[Nice, thanks for the super quick reply. What type of HDMI cord does it need? because I know a regular HDMI cord will not do given the size of the micro USB port.
I guess something like this, id shop around see if you could find a better price from link above otherwise $15 aint that bad of a price

Its called MHL. It is a technology that is phenomenal and is being overlooked for the most part. Even phones that are capable of it don't advertise that they are capable of it. It is a simple adapter that plugs into your USB on your device and gives you a full size HDMI port to connect to your TV.
Does it charge your phone at the same time?

Your phone plugs into mhl, mhl has hdmi to tv. Mhl also needs a power source, so it is plugged into the wall. I think it is able to keep charged.
This creates full mirroring. Meaning you can play angry birds on your phone and have it up on the big screen

Yes the app is called sixaxis and it makes a ps3 control work with phone. You must be rooted. If this helps you please thank me.

Any 3rd party MHL adapters compatible with s3?

Any one know if there's a cheaper one available and confirmed working?
There are cheapo ones that say "galaxy s3, s3, htc evo, etc" compatible, but i dont think a lot of sellers realize its a different pin connection.
has anyone been able to purchase one that works?
the genuine samsung one is too expensive.

Same!
You can use a cheapo adapter with Samsung's adapter kit.
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Samsung-OEM-...Accessories&hash=item2572f37fc3#ht_1660wt_889
Free shipping to the US. $26 shipping to Canada (which is why I haven't purchased it yet)
Yeah I think I may just use the MHL adapter from the GS2 and the 5-pin to 11-pin adapter tip both from samsung. At least they're both OEM and I don't really feel like waiting.
MHL: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006FYXL2O/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&smid=A2AXKMC4UVT4QQ
Adapter Tip: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0083FYL0O/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&smid=A1FBR7E8HT21EQ
Total is only $22.65. Just over half the price of the GS3 adapter.
The adapter tip you guys are referring to is usb to micro hdmi right? So you need the adapter tip plus micro hdmi to hdmi cable. The latter can be picked up for 4 bucks from ebay.

No, the MHL adapter is a microUSB to regular HDMI adapter. However the old MHL adapters for the Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S2 use a 5-pin microUSB input and you need an 11-pin microUSB input so that's what the adapter tip does.
There is a 3rd party one here for preorder

[Q] Dock Anyone?

Was wondering if anyone around these parts has given the $99 dock a shot. I was thinking that with hdmi and a couple usb ports it was worth every bit of what they are asking.
Responsiveness?
Quality?
Ease of use?
Mouse and keyboard connected helpful or a henderance, work at all?
Large sshd work with it?
Scaling on different resolution displays?
The s3 doc works nicely

Yeah thats great but they are not even close to similar! The only thing they have in common is that they are both called docks.

Not sure what your definition of Galaxy Note 2 is but your GS3 dock doesnt have anything to do with the Galaxy Note 2 dock but, thanks for sharing
The topic is docks not specifically the N2 dock. THE s3 doc works well for charging and the system recognizes that it was inserted into the doc. It has audio our too so I would say it is a N2 doc too.

Thanks for the heads up on using the S3 dock for the N2. I'm currently using the S2 dock with my E4GT, and will be much happier to pay $30 for the S3 dock, rather than $100 for the N2 dock. Personally, I doubt that I would use the HDMI or USB ports on the N2 dock anyway.
Exactly. Another benefit is that rhere is a special home screen that pops up when you put the phone in the cradle on the note 2 that allows you to launch your choice of apps that to run when docked
