Ok so I am having problems with my 32gb SD card. Got the "You need to format this drive" message in Windows. it is a Class 4. SanDisk. I flashed Cyanogenmod and I need to format my SD card and there seams to be no way to format it via Android.
Windows does not want to flash it.
I got it to format in Ubuntu although I would really prefer to format it via android.
Also on this Cyanogenmod Rom (10.0) I have yet to find a way to set the camera app to save to SD
Any help is appriciated
Thanks

i'm on tasks aokp and in camera i tap the on-screen settings option and i get "storage" as the first option on the top of the list. from there i can choose sd card, etc. this may not be an option in CM. just thought you could look there if you hadnt yet. cheers

This is probably a pretty basic question, but I have not found the answer so far, so I will post here. I have moved a 32 GB phone from a previous phone (a rooted Epic 4G) where I had many apps installed onto the SD card. I am using the card, it works fine. I assume, however, that since I have installed none of my apps on this phone onto the SD Card, there are probably folders on the card that are not being used. I don't want to wipe the entire card, because of pictures, music, etc. Anyway, I am just posting here to ask which folders I can safely remove to free up space, as they are not being used on this phone.

You should be able to remove whatever folders you want. Most of your info is being store on the phones internal memory unless you choose otherwise. On my GN2 I'm only storing my pics, music and titanium backup info on my microSD card, everything else is on my internal memory. However you might want to make a backup of the microSD card on your computer incase you ever want to use it again on your epic before you delete anything.

Welcome, here is how to dual boot roms on the galaxy s3,
to keep this post short and simple as possible, YOU must find a kernel that supports kexec, Verizon users can use the ezvzw app in the play store. sprint can use team epics website, theoretically works on other us variant.
now go to google play and download dual boot helper.
this app allows you to boot from other forms of storage such as external sd card.
now when you download the app and it installs, open it and click on your menu button. (for noobs, the left touch button on our gs3 handsets) and you will be able to see that you can copy your nand to external sd. do this.
now you will be in recovery mode. wait for the script to completely copy the system files to your sd card.
now power off and eject sd card from the back of your phone. this will have your primary rom installed.
now if you don't have a second rom that you wish to install to the device itself, then well...... find one
now reboot into recovery mode and make sure that your external sd is ejected, and also be sure to mount external sd before starting. (the internal sd is usually mounted in the beginning)
now prefrom a factory reset BEFORE you flash the new rom. next after the factory reset, flash the new rom.
now you can reboot the device and reinstall the dual boot helper app I previously mentioned.
now, make sure your kernel still supports kexec.
you should be done! you can now change boot device from the primary rom in your external sd, and your backup rom in internal storage.
questions? just ask and I will do my best to answer. do not depend on me to answer nooby questions.
and if you guys send bashing comments on how it does not work for you, then try again or reread the instructions, for it took me 3 times and many hours to get this to work for me.
hope this helped!!
Add "[GUIDE]" to the title, it's a little misleading lol

I have a couple of questions about the above app.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with a 64GB SD card that has been formatted in the phone. The phone is not rooted - fully stock ROM.
1) As far as I can tell the AppMgr Pro III does not require root in order to be used - is this true?
2) If the above is true - Every time I select to Move an app it tells me that "This device does not have a real primary storage, or the primary storage is emulated Moving app to SD function cannot be supported by this device."
I have had no problems accessing music/movies or any other data stored on the card in the past. I have re-formatted the SD card and it has nothing on it at all - still get the same message.
Can anyone enlighten me as what I am doing wrong and how to correct if it is possible?
Thanks much!
Ted
I'm pretty sure jellybean doesn't support moving apps to the sd card, I think that feature was removed in ics. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Can move even system apps to sd card for rooted mobile phones?
to be honest this app is just a better ui app has nothing to do with anything
move apps which it shows is actually can be done easily going to app manager in device settings and if your device doesnot support it then it cant do anything ,and other features like freeze will take u to device settings to disable it ,no offence developer making fool of users ,we can do this by ourselfs in going to app settings in device settings

I am here for a long time, but still don't have 10 posts :silly:
Probably that I read a lot and don't want to ask questions if there is answer on the forum, but now, I stacked with my SD card.
Instaled ROM, from SD Card, and everything goes well, but now, I can't reach my SD Card from phone.
When I pull out SD card, in notification bar I get message that my SD Card is pull out and to put other SD card.
I don't know what is wrong. If I boot into recovery I still see my SD Card, folder in it, ROM instalation....
Can someone tell me hot to get access to my SD Card?

Do you have any sdcard partitions made up, ie ext3 or a swap partition? What does the rom say? Can you screenshot?

First, thanks for offering help, but I solved my problem myself, just forgotten to post answer here.
I had ext 4 partition from beginning, but problem was that by default my ext partition set as logical not primary, so I just changed to primary and everything goes well.

Glad your all sorted pal
I am unrooted, and used a non root app to move apps to the SD card. After moving all that can safely be moved, plus a number apps that were only somewhat compatible, I backed out to the main screen. Voila! The SD card ejected itself virtually. All that got moved became gone. Luckily, a simple restart put everyone back. I'm hypothecising that LG omitting the native storage from the ROM effed up the SD ejection. What, if any, work around exists?
Hi. Please in the future post your questions in the Q&A section. I'll ask a moderator to move this thread.
I don't know the answer to your quesiton, though.
