if you have the sprint total equipment protection, take it to a sprint store with a repair center and if the tech is any good he will know that the charge port is replaceable on that phone. i change them for customers all the time...

[Q] micro USB port not always charging (loose)

Does any one have a same problem with their USB port being "too big" and cable being loose and not charging? This even happens to me with original cable ....
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
ive seen this happen by someone forcing the cable in the wrong orientation ... you might need to replace and or repair the port
I think its an issue with all Samsung phones. My gf galaxy s had a same problem ...

I am having the same problem with my Gnex.
Got no problem at all. Fits very good, charging correctly and I can even hold my Gnex in the air just by holding it at the cable (without fear, that it will drop ).
I'm having the same problem. I took it to the Sprint store and took it for 2 hours. When I came back they said the battery is fine and they cleaned out the charging port. He also said they won't replace it because it's rooted. I played dumb was like "Root? What does that mean" When the guy asked if someone did something to my phone I said my boyfriend did something but I didn't know what. I asked it it can be unrooted and he said maybe. Whatever. I'm unrooting it tonight and taking it back to get a new replacement since I'm still having issues with the port. When I get a new one I'm going to sit in Starbucks next door to root it. My boyfriend couldn't root himself out of a paper bag.

Hahah, what a girl! ^^
BTW, I have no problems at all with my GNEX, but I think the microUSB port is too easy to break. After two years my old phone can not be charged anymore, because the microUSB port does not keep as the connector inside. I have to find a good position every time!
Make this

Mine is okay for now, but I do worry about it because it feels kinda fragile. That's why I'm getting the official dock. It's expensive, but the fact that it uses pogo pins means I can save using the USB port for more important things.

Bad charger port

I think I mite got a bad charging port. Is there a way to fix it or is it time to upgrade?
Is it just when your charging your phone or is it every time you plug your USB cable in? Have you tired different cables? i thought that same thing too and it turned out to be a bad cable.
Coming from the htc family, do the s2 charge ports seem to hold up better\longer?

My wife and I have had our E4GT for eight months now without any issues. I've had several other Samsung phones in my many years and never had any build issues.
Lol I even ran over my wife's phone once! Other than a few scratches there were still no issues.

I'd try a new cord first. If that doesn't work go ahead and upgrade but send me your E4GT.
I've tried everything. I guess i can try to buy a new charger to make sure, before i jump ship

Have you tried the USB cable to the PC and see if that works. If you have bought a off market charger or so, then there can be issues. Try a blackberry USB cable if you have it and see if that works. Those cables are pretty good.

Worst case scenario: Port is shot and gets no charge whatsoever = call for insurance replacement.
The port is integrated to the mainboard inside so there is no "fixing" just the port, even local cellphone repair shops won't touch it. If your phone is insured they should replace it. When I WAS with T-Mobile they replaced mine free no questions asked b/c it had been in a flood. Phone was still 99% functional other than the fact it could not charge b/c the port was shocked out. Hope this info helps

Have you gone to a Sprint service center???
Had the same thing happen to me a couple of months ago. Took it to Sprint and had a tech look at it. Got it replaced the next day.

No fixing it? If the port was just over stressed you can pretty easily solder any broken pins back on... if the port is completely shot its not that that hard to lift the broken one and replace it with a scavanged micro USB port... I just replaced a busted HDMI port on an Xbox, same principal....

[HELP] Charging port | Micro usb issue

Hi guys, im having some issues with my charging port; i have to force the charger plug upside for charging my phone, does anyone have change that port or any HOW TO.
Thanks
Luis Olivo.
Going to have to either change chargers, or solder another micro USB port onto your phone.
or easily get an external battery charger with spare battery
I've been using those eBay knockoff for years already and they have never fail me
get some spare batteries, and you can swap them as they run out
and use the external charger to charge the battery
it charges way faster than having it in your phone

I can not find a guide to solder another usb port anywhere....
I figured it'd be straight forward- solder the 4 points on the bottom, pop it out and replace.
Am I doing all wrong, or is it possible I need a better soldering iron? I can't seem to make any progress....
If you are not 100% sure of your ability to solder electronics then don't mess with it. Get a pro to do it.

I am having the same problem. I use the standard galaxy s3 USB cable. Its the only cable that works for me
You could always get the 2 pack of extended battery's with an external battery "travel charger" from amazon. Its like 20 bucks and it works for other batterys

I have been a tech manager for almost 5 years now and trust me if you don't have experience on soldering or the hardware I recomend that you stay away from it. I've been fixing phones for almost 5 years now and I try to avoid fixing the charging port due to soldering on the motherboard. Your best bet is to do what AllGamer said

had mine replaced under warranty at 5 months. Less than 48 hour turn around and had new phone already updated with new software. sent old phone back in packaging. Done. This was done under factory warranty. Did not have extended coverage. They charged me $20.
My daughter phone had an issue and same return process under warranty , but they refunded my $20 on my bill

[Q] Broken Usb Port

My Inc. USB port came completely off and i lost it. Can someone please link me to a replacement part and tell me ow to re-solder it to the board? I've done countless Google searches and nothing has come up for the incredible. Thanks.
You mean something like this?

I had a friend's Dinc here not too long ago with a busted port, but I pretty quickly came to the conclusion that replacing it is far beyond my limited soldering abilities. So I can't help you there.
Also, be careful not to get a port for the Dinc2, they are on their own little board and would be much easier to replace. On our OG Dincs' though, the connector is soldered right on the main board. Replacing that is not for the faint of heart (or the shaky of hands).
Radio shack sells a universal battery charger(I wanted to buy it locally and not have to wait days for shipping with no backup phone). I've been using one for months since my USB port is broken. I tried to resolder the piece back on but I'm really rusty at soldering and I didn't want to further damage the board and risk having to get a new phone $40 vs cost of a new phone. The universal charger works fine. Obvious down side is the phone is unusable when charging. Having no data cable is no big deal there are plenty of other ways to move sh!t about.

That WAS my original plan. I tried to order 2 extended batteries 1800mah + wall charger from htcexpress.com. Needless to say I got jerked in the whole process. 2 weeks went by I was charged for an item that never shipped. I called/email got no response. I had to open up a claim with Bank of America to get my money back. I said fu¢k it after that and settled for the universal charger I was already so freakin pissed. To make it worse the lady at radio shack kept dissin my phone.
I'm also back on your rom. Random side note. Pre 2am nonsense.

I thought about buying an external charger for the Dinc with broken USB port I had in here, and I could have done that, but... the guy didn't really care about the phone, he had a bunch of pictures on it he wanted to recover. Apparently, when his phone quit charging, he was on the road, took it to a Verizon store (thinking a new battery or a new charger would fix it), and the lady there formatted his /emmc while trying to fix a battery charging issue??? Needless to say he was not happy. I was gonna try running some data recovery stuff on it to see what we could salvage, but without a working USB port we were out of luck. He was actually thinking about paying somebody to repair the thing in hopes we could save some of the pictures, but he must have decided against it as he hasn't mentioned it lately. I guess he got a painful lesson in the importance of backups...

[HOWTO][VIDEO] Note II Micro USB Flex Port replace

Hi guys.
Recently, I had to change out my micro usb charging port because the previous one stopped working. I don't know if it had to do with heat issues and messed up the soldering. Sprint said it was because of water damage, but I'm very very protective of my phone and have yet to have any contact with water in it.
When I got the piece, I figured that I would make a video on how easy it is to replace the piece. I've never contributed to this site, so I figured I'd like to do something
I ordered the flex piece from this site for $11.
http://phonepartsusa.com/product-ty...te-2-l900-charging-port-flex-cableflx-sam-681
Never done something risky like this before, but it sure was rewarding getting it done. In the mean time, when I waited for the piece to come through in the mail, I bought a charger from Ellis batteries for $15 and a separate battery. I wonder if I can return it :3.
Hope it's helpful

Alot of my friends had this issue, and so did I, luckily I was covered by warranty. But I was f***ing heartbroken when it happened. When/if this crap happens again I will know to find your post. This is freaking awesome!
I almost feel like samsung knew they put fragile ports and crap in the phone because from what ive noticed most of the components are attached with ribbon cables instead of soldered. I ordered a new headphone jack due to worn out pins, and I wont be suprised if I have to replace the usb port one day.

Awesome It was a crap feeling that I had to dish out $50 for a battery and charger that was only temporary (guess I'll be using the extra battery as a means of emergency power, especially when going downtown)
m4xwell - I think it sort of goes both ways. Essentially, the pieces being easily replaced was in fact a smart idea. Of course the downside is that the pieces are a little more fragile as you said. Thing is, with the constant wear and tear in plugging in the charger, I would imagine that the ports would get worn out in a matter of time. I feel micro usb vs mini usb has some weird differences, with the micro usb being more fragile. My old nokia and LG flip phone had zero problems with the charging port. Guess the dinosaur age is still king
