Since Samsung released the latest OTA builds, there have been many questions regarding what apps are safe to remove. There has not been an update to the "Safe to Remove" list that I have seen for JB builds. Moderators, if I have missed something, my apologies, and please feel free to kill this thread. This is a work in progress, since what I have started with is a list of those that I removed for the GC01 debloat/deodex ROM I built. Please feel free to let me know of others that can be added, and I will update the OP, hence the WIP Thanks to g_ding84 for the suggestion.
Again, this is a work in progress...list ones that have been removed that are not on this list either by PM or on here, and I will gladly list them. Please ensure that it has been tested with NO issues. Thanks!

I have not replaced the apps listed with smaller, faster, better, apps, so it would be reckless of me to post something I do not know works or can verify. If you have a question about a specific app, please let me know, and I can try to help. Thanks.

There's definitely more that can be removed, I'll have to look at the stock ROM. Is this a list of things SAFE to remove (as in if you want to remove it for say, like mentioned above, a different music player app)? I know I removed at least 40 things the last time I flashed stock... and there are plenty more that CAN be removed. Do you get what I'm asking?

I certainly do, and yes, this is the list of things that I(or any contributor) has removed for any reason(debloat, replace, etc), and experienced no issues as a result. As the OP mentioned the latest jb build Sammy put out came with a lot of stuff, and I've seen many questions regarding what is safe to remove. The goal ultimately, is to compile a list do that should someone want, they could strip a stock completely bare and still have a functioning ROM, should they choose. Make sense? Any input from you or anyone else would be welcomed, as always, and much appreciated.:beer:

Yep, just making sure that was the goal.
I'm going to put Connections Optimizer and Voice Talk on here again... because I hate them. MusicPlayer.apk isn't on there but it's the best music player ever in my opinion.
Edit: Music2 is on there... why is mine MusicPlayer?

Music2 is the love that comes with all that Google crap, movies, books, magazines, etc...music player is the actual player , and yes, optimizer is so bad! Voice talk as in the driving mode and such? Svoice I think some call it?

some of these are obviously easy to remove using titanium backup or gemini. But if it is not listed there, how can the listed apps be removed?
I apologize for what may seem like a dumb question.

What. I meant was.... Will every installed app appear in titanium backup or gemini? Prob so. If they dont appear in either of those, how do you remove an app? Go to system/app and delete the apk? Prob not that simple.
I am running blu kubean and i don't see some of the apps listed in OP when looking in titanium backup pro. I assume ruj cleaned them out.

You would probably be assuming correctly. Did you check the Kuban Updater for any removed apps you want but don't have? He usually has them there. Also, the apps downloaded to your phone will appear on TB, and you can delete them there. If not there, get a root explorer(I use es file explorer personally), go to system/app, long press the app you want to delete, and done. Be careful you know what you're deleting before you do so however. But of course, that's the reason for this thread, and if it's not on the list yet, just ask! Good luck, have fun

well, since the rooting is on the way,
i was wondering if anyone could tell me all the bloatwares that you really don't need.
here's what i think i'll be uninstalling when the root gets available.
social hub
media hub (after i'm done using all $25 credit XD)
asphalt 6
blio
bonus apps
more for me
my account
my device
pro apps
slacker
tmobile mall
tmobile name id
tmobile tv
visual voicemail
video chat (i use tango)
zinio reader
is there something else that i should uninstall?
and is there something in the list that i souldn't be uninstalling ?
oh, and one more thing. removing these bloatwares are supposed to help free up some unnecessary rams on the phone right?
and this would help battery to last longer?
correct me if i'm wrong..
thx in advance.
by video chat do you mean qik? If not add that to the list.

I would keep the my acct app. I like it so I can track my data usage. Qik is the name of the video app bloatware.

anything else that i'm missing from the list?
Don't forget Talk. Hopefully after removing the forced version we can install the one that supports video.

If we're talking about a true, vanilla android experience then you should also include:
-411 & More
-Allshare
-Books
-Downloads (I prefer to just use a file explorer, no sense in having multiple apps that do the same thing)
-Files (I prefer a file explorer like Astro or Androidzip)
-IM
-Kies Air
-Lookout
-Netflix
-Photo Editor
-News and Weather
-Polaris Office
-TeleNav
Personally, I like to delete pretty much everything (even if I will use it) such as Netflix, then reinstall it from the market. I do this mainly to keep the system apps and my apps in their respective folders.

thx. but can you also answer my other question too, about deleting all these will improve battery life and free up more ram or not ?
Holy Bloatware batman!
cant wait for root to delete it all. i have never in my life seen so much bloatware!! its getting worse and worse the newer the phones!! utter useless crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and TW sucks, ADW works so much better!

removing bloat totally will help. i remember on the G2x BW was actually causing the phone to bootloop at random for some folks. bloatware should be illegal to put on the phone without a root requirement to delete it all.
the G2x bloat, and the G2 bloat was quite minimal, compared to the MT4G i came from, but this thing beats them all i think, i was a little ticked about it.
Thx for the answer
Oh, and I like launcher pro then ADW.. it's just me

i like LPPRO too, but on the G2 it was laggy, and i used adwEX and got used to it and went back to LPP, and liked some of the adw functions better, that of course is personal preference. LPP is an awesome homescreen tho

I didn't think there was too much bloat on the A100, even with the ICS upgrade, apart from Aupeo, Acer Media and a couple other apps I barely notice them. Nigh on a stock build, thankfully
What apps did you uninstall and how did you get them uninstalled? I just uninstalled several of them with Titanium Backup, but when I rebooted they were still there. Some of them I was not able to uninstall, error message Cannot remove system app. Failed to locate the apk file.
Use Root Explorer and delete the applications contained in the location: /Flexroom.

What tools are there to remove bloatware?
Calks bare rom converter its in the themes and apps section
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
There is always JRummy's Rom Toolbox Lite !
Or if you are trying to modify a ZIP file, you could always just open it and delete anything you consider "unneeded" yourself, I found I actually learned a fair bit doing it that way.
Another option is that you can use titanium backup to "freeze" the apps.
They are effectively removed, but you can "thaw" them back to normal in the event that it messes something up.
I think you need the paid version of TB to do that though, but I like doing that before removing the apps.
I have used noth the ROM Toolbox and Titanium backup. I prefer titanium because you dont fullyt remove it, but by freezing it you take it out of the picture without having to worry about seriously deleting something you shouldnt have.
Use titanium backup free to uninstall system apks.

Anyone know of a list anywhere that shows what software/processes are installed which could be frozen safely?

There are a couple of lists floating around but I haven't seen them in some time and some of them are either very outdated or for a different model phone (a lot of apps are still the same however).
Use the search at the very top of every XDA screen to search all the XDA forums. Learning to search is half the battle, keep search queries simple at first. Most questions can be answered by using the search tools here.

+1 to using Titanium or something similar to freeze apps.
First of all, always backup your phone prior to going on a binge removing or freezing apps. Freezing is a much better alternative than deleting/removing apps because once they're gone, some of them may be very difficult to get back.

What I did was made a list from different developers rom. Like naoekrom beta 2.1 he list all the bloatware he took out his rom in his second post. Whenever I go to a different rom I grab my list... Go to root explorer app and under system/app delete those on my list...

just released today, get it here! link below...
What's New
The most notable and immediately apparent new feature is the long overdue ability to remove apps you've previously downloaded from the All Apps list. If you like to try a lot of apps, that list is likely very cluttered. With the new Google Play, you can trim it to your heart's content.
Update #1: You can multi-select by long-pressing any app in the list and then tapping more apps, then delete them all in one go (added 2 new screenshots demonstrating it).
Update #2: The new Play Store now keeps track of your location in lists, including My Apps and All Apps, so when you click into an app and back, it drops you into the same spot. I had variable luck with this, and it didn't seem to work in All Apps at first, but I just reproduced it on both the EVO LTE and the Nexus 7. Brilliant.
Update #3: The notification icon that shows up when you have app updates has changed, and notifications are now expandable. I've added more screenshots showing the differences.

It took me a minute to go through my whole list of downloaded apps (I tried out just about everything lol) but finally...now down to a manageable list. Still not exiting back to last place (got to go through the list from the top) but it is ok. Now if we could sort the way we want (download date, alphabetical, paid, free, etc.), I think I'll be set.

Mine allowed me to directly update it. But Titanium Backup is going to be the easiest way to remove the old version.

but now my search won't work. I'll press the search button but nothing. Also, the suggested results doesn't pop up, either.

It may be installed in /data/app on your phone. Or it is visually named something else. When I went searching for vending.apk all I saw was phonesky.apk. I identified it by the PlayStore icon next to it. I'm not sure, but I think devs can name it anything they want with no ill effects on functionality.

I think this is a legitimate question. For those of us that choose to remove system apps without using an Aroma type program we can really mess up functionality if we delete the wrong stuff. I would like to see a thread where a qualified Dev makes a list of all the system apps that come pre installed and tells us whether they are safe to remove or not
IIRC that stupid Sprint Connections Optimizer can at best only be frozen...if you try to remove it bad things happen. Most of the other bloat you can live without ime.

Titaniums Backup is your friend. Backup everything, then freeze, test. If ok, then delete and test. If ok, cool. If not, restore or unfreeze.
