Dropped phone, backlight is dark/strobe - HTC One X

I have my one x now for 2 weeks and I can't believe I have a major problem already.
So this is the story : I was at my desk and I accedently swiped my phone to the ground. At first it looked nothing because i have a carpet floor. I picked my phone from the ground and it was off? I tryed powering it on but nothing happend. No bootloader button. No 15 seconds pressing. Nothing. Dead.
So I connected the usb power and thank god it came to live. But then i realised it was realy dark and flikkering. So im realy confused how this could happen.
Maybe because i soldered the wifi antenne a week ago?

Maybe the display cable has become loose...

Yes, that might be the case, why don't you pick your phone apart and tighten any cables you had removed and then see?
Flickering is caused due to loose cable AFAIK...

Thank guys. Im going to try and look. I hope its not the motherboard

update: i dissambled everything. Checked everything twice. But nothing. Every cabel is tight and proper. Still realy dark and flikkering background light
also i broked the power button kabel. Now the power button doenst work. *sigh* think im going to sell this phone. Im out of idea's..

You may order a cable from eBay or rounded.com
As for the display cable, try removing it and attaching it again...
Hope you solve the problem.

[Solved] My new T-Mobile Galaxy 2 just bricked itself!!

Sitting at the laundromat, watching a video that I downloaded thru the facebook app, all of a sudden the screen goes black. Thinking it went into sleep, I pressed the power, no response. I press and hold the power button, screen is still black, but this time it gives a haptic feedback. I press and hold again, it does the same thing. I removed the battery, waited a few secs, replaced the battery, and tried to power on, I still get the black screen and haptic feedback. Every time I press and hold the power button, screen remains black, no leds, with haptic feedbacks. I never dropped or water damaged the phone. Seems I may have received a defective unit. Production date on my box reads 09/28/2011. This phone is returning 1st thing in the morning!
Did you try to recharge the battery? That might be the problem

Try booting with sdcard and simcard off and see if that helps. If not you might need to return it..

How about restoring it to recovery settings? Boot via holding the both volume keys and power then clear data and dav.

have you tried removing the battery, plug usb cable computer to phone with battery removed, then putting battery in?

When I tried this, the samsung logo kept flickering very quickly along with a haptic feedback, but would not go into recover.

Yea its a possible brick. Restoring it might have done something... did you wait for it to get to recovery?

i would agree with this wise decision as well
i might be a Samsung hard core fan, but this is definitely signs of a defective unit
This might be a Samsung thing, cause my old Galaxy Tab used to do this once in a while too.
Has anyone else had the production date of 9/28/11 on their phone package?

This is what I discovered today......after the fiasco, I left my phone turned off while charging overnivht. Started my day off with a full 100% charge. I use bluetooth with my car stereo, and occasional talking. 2hrs into my day, I noticed that I still had a complete charge. Few hours more pass, still a complete charge after web browsing and everything else. I found this to be kinda odd considering my usage. I decided to reboot, and lo and behold, after reboot, my battery indicated less than 50% charge! With that being said, leads me to believe that actually my phone wasn't really bricked last night. More so, my battery gave the wrong readings, and while I'm watching videos, thinking that I have enough juice to do so, actually it didn't, which lead to the sudden shut off. I think my battery completely discharged without me knowing it.

Screen randomly doesn't respond

Hi fellow PLAY owners, I'm having trouble with my screen. I can turn my phone off no problem, but when it comes to waking it up, either by pressing the power button or the home button, my screen won't turn on. I can slide it open, and i hear stuff going on as if my screen were on, but I can't see anything. It'll be like that for random amounts of time, like 1 minute, or as long as 5 minutes or more. Any ideas? THANks
That's the flexible cable problem...

I had the same problem..... and now it wont work at anytime... ); so am trying to replace the screen digitizer.
Alright, how about a little Xperia PLAY anatomy class lesson then? What does the flex cable do and what does the screen digitizer do?
they do different jobs

the digitizer lets the software know where you pressed on the screen, the ribbon connects the screen and digitizer to the main board of phone
So which one would it be if even pressing the power button, which is a harware button, doesn't respond?
Can anyone help me by giving me the part number I should order? I'm checking eBay but there's at least two options for the same named part... Thanks guys!

mine has the same problem but i think there's only a dead spot. For example, the numpad place for 4, 5 and 6. Is there any way to solve this other than taking it to a technician? Problem appears at random times also. Thanks in advance!

I think this is a different issue. My entire screen won't turn on even though the phone itself is on.
By the way, my problem has gotten worse. Now it will only turn on (by chance) after I have slid out the gamepad. Grr..

As far as I know there is no under or overclocking going on. Not unless my ROM does it without me knowing it (Gin2Ics).
Anybody know the name for the flex cable part? Or the part number? Thanks/:cyclops:
So I bought this screen digitizer thinking that it was the problem... and it took forever to get delivered! anyways, I replaced the digitizer and am having the same problem.... :/ and after I changed the digitizer I noticed that the flex cable is actually ripped!! so now I purchased it from here and I'll keep u updated.
Hey thanks so much man. Hope it gets fixed. I want to know how it works for you so maybe I might do the same. It finally died out on me and screen won't turn on at all...
That's exactly what happened to me!
soo.. it finally worked after I changed the flex cable

That's cool man. Congratulations. I, unfortunately, didn't have the same luck. My phone is out for the count. I now have the sad news of no longer being an Xperia PLAY owner. Sad face.
I'll leave this question opened though, for others who might profit from it! :highfive:

Help with my xperia

well, i' have installed roms for a while and everything is ok, but in last days my phone sometimes stop responding, the screen doesn't turn on pushing the power button, but the funny is that apparently the phone still working, how do I know? if i have patience after a moment maybe 10 mins or in other cases is delayed 1 day the screen shows up in the last part where it was.
Now when I don't have patience and i pull off the battery and try to turn on the phone, the phone apparently turn on, vibrate, and then show the blue light and thats all , the phone still has keep in the black screen and I have to pull off the battery and repeat the process until the phone wants turn on
please help me this problem is really stressful
and a extra information..
2 or 3 months ago my phone fell down in a pool
maybe the problem is the battery? any help is valuable for me
So I can tell you 90% your Xperia Play suffers from a disease called "the flex cable damaged" disease. Your phone will have to undergo a surgery which will replace the damaged flex cable with a new one. Flex cable is the cable which connects the motherboard to the screen. Common issue for Xperia Play. Revert to stock, and I mean completely stock, then send to Sony Centre and replace for free if you still have warranty.
woww that was fast, unfortunately I have no warranty, my cousin throw me at the pool so i think he can pay me the flex cable... do you know how much is it?
by the way........rhank you sooooooo much
Er I am not sure about the price cause I got mine fixed under warranty. But I think it's not really expensive
So a tip for us is that open the slider slowly to avoid damage to the flex cable right?

Yep. Some people always push up hard (I am one of them ) then my flex cable is damaged.
I don't think it has anything to do with how hard you're using the device.
It has to do with how it was installed from the factory.
sometimes the cable can get bunched up underneath the screen and get a crimp in it.
My other spare screen slider cord has been crimped and i don't know how much longer it will last
but my other one is totally fine.
Guys I had problems too with my XP. One day the screen became all glitchy than i changed my flex cable and now the Device goes on when I push the on/off button the device thrills but no screen.
Any solution for this all ready flashed stock .TFT file.

Bone stock and bricked!!! Any suggestions???

I have a friend's bone stock incredible 2 and it "totally quit working" on him. "Wen't black and never came back to life."
It has been dropped in a toilet before (clean... haha! Or so he says...) but he pulled the battery as quickly as he could, let it dry out for a few days, and said it worked fine for quite a long time after that. And then it just "quit" one day.
He has a replacement but he says he would like to get his Incredible back.
I told him I would see if there was anything I could do since I'm the "tech guy" around our group of friends.
I plugged in the phone and it does take a charge. After the light turned green indicating full charge, I unplugged the phone and tried to turn it on...
NOTHING.
I read how to boot into fast boot mode and found that you hold the volume down + power buttons at the same time.
When I do this, the phone flashes, very briefly, the fastboot menu screen and then goes black.
If I continue to hold the volume down + power buttons, the fastboot screen will briefly flash about every three seconds.
It flashes so quick that I cannot read any of the options but can see the word flashboot outlined in blue.
Does anybody have any suggestions that I should try before telling my buddy his phone is forever dead?
Much appreciation in advance!!!

I was thinking it was probably hardware related myself. As for the digitizer... Maybe? Who knows? Maybe there'e more to "it just quit working" than my friend is telling me? It would be fairly inexpensive and somewhat easy fix if it were the digitizer. I have replaced digitizers on multiple types of devices.
I'll probably just look up the price of one on eBay and let my buddy know how much they are with a disclaimer that there is absolutely no guarantee that a new digitizer will fix the problem.
Thanks

Htc one x won't turn on

So I've been reading a lot of forums but I can't seem to get things to work. My friend recently gave me his old HTC one x to mess around with. He hasn't used it in like a year and a half, because about a year and a half ago, his phone randomly cut off while he was using it and it wouldn't cut back on.
He's not the kind of person who roots or messes around with the phone so its stock.
I am getting NO led light when its on the charger. I've tried holding the power button forever. I've tried the power + vol down combo. Currently I'm leaving it on the charger for like four days to see if that fixes it.
Anyone have any other ideas before I open up the phone?

A new battery to begin with...if there is no visible damage to the motherboard. Like condensation, oxidation etc

Same thing happend with my One X too.. I have been using it, one day it went off and never turned on again.
No charging sign, no action on power buttons/volume.
I have tried with battery replacement too, but no luck. Unfortunately the battery tricky in HTC One X (handle with care).
If it worked in any sense, please leave your steps to fix it.

I took it apart and got it to charge and cut on for a little bit but I noticed one of the ribbons looked awfully brown as if it had been fried. I'm assuming that's the problem in most of these
