just bought a t-mobile dash used, phone was unmodded running the stock t-mobile rom. i flashed it to kavana 6.1 recently and i have been getting really bad battery life. like the phone wont even last throughout the whole day with basic usage, few phone calls and light texting. wifi just drains my battery in a matter of minutes. also my battery meter seems to be inconsistent like itll say i have 65% then when i reboot the phone it shows that i have 20% left. im running radio 4.1.13.51_.03.07.90
hey i had the same problem, and i went to a 2200mah battery. its a lot bigger than the original one and it comes with a new cover. if u dont mind the size u should check it out im lovin it. by the way try overclocking it if you havent done it yet.
wouldnt overclocking it drain more battery?

Remember the dash is a 3 years old phone, even if you get a new phone at this point the battery it's the same age...so imagne if you get a used phone. I will recommend you to buy a new battery, I had the same issue...but I bought a new battery and problems solved
So are the replacement batteries just as old as the phone? How do you know your not buying one that has sat on the shelf for 3 years. I'm asking because I am almost to the point to where I need a new one.
I had 2 discouraging experiences on buying battery for my wife's dash in ebay. The 2 batteries appeared brand new but could not hold the charge. After few phone calls and email synch both batteries just drained outreal quick dropping from 100% to 60% right away and bad thing was that the phone turned off by itself. So I decided to call T-Mobile and recommended me to buy at HTC Accessories 1-888-716-3594. The new attery from HTC is way better and no issues so far. Price $29.99 + shipping.

I have bought 2 batteries and both have been ok ,. I bought 1050 mAh (the grey ones) "For CHTCS620OLIO1" made in china, I Know they are been sold in ebay pretty cheap (960 mAh) but I bought them in here http://www.batteryship.com/htmlos/h...tml?item=EXCA160&model=HTC+S620&adsrc=yo273-1 since you get a warranty for at least of 1 year and a little bit more long lasting battery. When I do refer 3 year old phone and battery is the actual original battery that comes with the excalibur.

What was he doing in that 2 hours? Was he using wifi, texting, or talking expansively during that time?
i recently bought a extended battery with cover off of the official VZW online store. the battery worked great for about a day until the battery life ran out, then i tried to charge it and now it just started randomly shutting off on me even when the phone said i had about 60% battery remaining. so i left it in the charger over night and now it wont even turn on at all until i put in the regular battery. so i ordered a new one and you know what happened? the exact same problem occured with this battery to. it worked fine for a day, then it ran out of juice and completely stopped working.
so here is my warning to all of you. DO NOT BUY THE EXTENDED BATTERY. it is complete garbage and does not work at all. dont waste your time or money on it because you will for sure have the same problems i did. i am now stuck with 2 non working extended batterys that i need to send back to verizon to get my money back.
I was having crazy issues with my batter acouple nights ago. I never let my phone completely die but it happened this sat. I put it onthe charger then when I tried to turn the phone on the battery meter went from 0% to 5% to 60% then I unplugged it and tried turning it on to no luck... thereafter I put it on the charger and waited for it to get to about 15% and turned it on while still plugged into the wall and it started up. I let the battery charge full and the phone began working like normal.
I am on leaked 2.2, with rubix rom and o/c'd 1.15 and on stock battery
I have 2 stock batteries that I swap daily. If you let the phone die completely you can't turn it back on until you've charged the battery to at least 5%. Sometimes when I swap a battery from a fully charged to one that's about 15% to recharge, it says it's at 60%. Not sure why, but it sounds like the phone's software looks at the readings and says to itself, "there's no way I can go from 100% to 15% when I shut down and rebooted." I'm sure it's just the software being stupid.
I've had the extended battery since I bought the phone about a month ago, never had a single problem with it and my battery life is great...
I bought the extended battery when they became available, and have not had a problem with it. Knock wood

Extended here too, no problems whatsoever since it was released. The issue I have is the motorola cases not fitting.
Had I known this, I would have bought the Siedo extended battery instead.

I just bought 1 of the hard cases from verizon and it's allllmmost perfect. No problems whatsoever except for that the 1 spot above the charging port will not stay snapped. i got my extended battery last night. I let it charge for 12 hours for the first time and I hope that helps it. I kind of believe that that is some peoples problem. they don't let it charge long enough the first time. I let it charge 10 to 12 hours and then let it die all the way the first 2 or 3 charge cycles. Then I usually plug it in once It gets down to 15 percent and every 10 or so charge cycles I let it die completely. I can't wait for the seidio 2800 mah battery. Is there any news on a release date? I had the 3500mah battery for the incredible and it was spectacular. I use the phone so much that the standard battery only lasts 3-5hrs but the seidio innocell lasted 1.5 days. A huggggeeee upgrade. But I couldn't find a reasonible case afterwards so I kinda put my silicone case on and traced around the new battery cover with a boxcutter to make it fit. Afterwards I melted the edges with a lighter to smooth them and prevent splitting. The DInc seidio extended case doesn't cover the bat door anyway. Not to mention it doesn't even cover half the edges. I sure hope they design a bettr case for the DX cuz I love their batteries are the best

Are you using the Moto charger?
I had similar problems with my first extended battery for the Droid X. However Verizon replaced it, and there has been no problem since.
As for incompatibility with cases, I use the snap on clear case from Verizon. Had problems with it not wanting to stay snapped together. After modifications to the case failed to correct the issue, I removed the battery cover completely. No issues anymore.
Plus since I use the clear case, I have a nice nerdy view from the back.

I received my Extended Battery two days ago. I love it! It holds significantly more power. And I can still use my Body Glove Droid X cover with the Extended Battery and included battery cover.
Anyway... I rate my extended battery experience as 10 out of 10.
I cant say I noticed to much of an increase but i'm back and forth with modding and o/c so I know lots of that goes into play with battery times.. right now i'm on an UV and I can easily go into a 2nd work day without needing a charge.

Yes...extended battery didn't make a bit of difference...it made a HUGE difference.
It is barely noticeable in size...fits in the multi-media dock, no probelm with my hybrid TPU case...and lasts quite a bit longer.
Or maybe I should say...gets me through to where if I did run out of juice...I'm at home with a charger. Either way...I'm good from 6am to 6pm at least. (i dont call anyone btw). Just massive amounts of texting and web.
I have had mine for almost 2 months and it works great. I deffinitely notice a difference from the stock battery. Would by again if I had to do it all over.

It's good to post your experience, however don't you think a sample of one device and two batteries doesn't qualify as a crappy accessory? I've been running an extended battery since it came out with great results. As a matter of fact a week ago I tried to go back to the standard battery just to make sure the improvement wasn't in my head and the difference was at least 3 hours.
So assuming you aren't frightened at the prospect of returning a battery if it doesn't work for you, go ahead and get one. For a very modest bump in weight it adds a lot of life.

Don't buy the extended battery
I also bought the extended battery from Verizon. It works fine except for a small problem. The built-in battery monitor some times complains that I have installed a non-compatible battery or something like that and suggests that I replace it with the original. A question mark "?" shows up in the status bar and the battery level is not reported correctly.
I picked up "Juice Defender" and paid for the pro model. It says that in last 48 hours It has multiplied battery life by X1.73. I also downloaded an app called "battery Status" which shows the percentage of battery left. Lots of nice options for display.
So what did I do with my original battery? Hmmm I noticed that it is fairly thin so I stuck it in my wallet. Since the ram is non-destructive, I can change the battery when it gets low.
All in all I am very happy with the "Extended Battery" I got from Verizon.

I have been using my extended battery for two day now and......
It is uber-awesome! I am very happy with it at the moment!!!!!! (two days, I was typing faster than I was thinking!)
It seems that battery life is getting worse on my EVO.
I've been running Cyanogen 7 nightlies, did the gps fix, did the radio update, using the sprint extended battery.
I take the phone off of the charger at 8am...by 1pm I'm lucky if I have 60% charge.
What battery life/ROM combos are people getting the most success with?
First question would be how old is your battery? I do know of some people that had issues with a few of the 2600 batteries from sprint but after they got them replaced they were okay again.
Try decks with saveged Zen + the supercharger script+ the undervolting vipermid script and set setcpu to conservative
Gimme a couple a days to come up with a new sig that is cool.

+1. If your battery is relatively new then you should be OK. But these sorts of batteries tend to die pretty quickly once they've reached the end of their service lifespan. Could be that's what you're seeing.

So what... over a year, then? I'd say you're due for a new battery. Buy one before you start flashing random roms to try and find something that'll fix your battery issues.
yea i run savaged-zen sbc with decks rom and viperboy scripts and i get really good battery life but the best rom with battery life ive tried is myns warm 2.2 with neatrchys sbc kernel

The EVO has only been out for about a year. The extended battery wasn't available until a few months later.
I've never had a battery that only lasted a year and never had these issues with other phones. That's ridiculous. I guess it's just an Android or HTC problem.
My son's Nexus S4G has been getting better battery life (with a standard battery) than the EVO ever has. I may have to switch over.
I had mine replaced about a month ago, and I usually unplug around 9am and I'm at 20% by 10pm that's just with normal Texting and playing drag racing

Batteries don't just have a chronological lifespan. Number of charge cycles is more relevant. I'm not sure how exactly partial charges translate into a charge cycles, but if you top off your battery a lot (or leave it on the charger all day at work), that will count for something too.
And at the risk of touching a third rail, SBC is likely to impact the lifespan of your battery. There's been a lot of debate about whether it will cause dangerous damage, and I think there's enough data now to say that on the whole, it doesn't. But as to whether it's going to cause your battery to fail (safely) sooner than it would have otherwise, I think there's a lot of reason to say it's likely it will.
So the reality is that depending on how you use and charge your phone, it's quite possible you will see your battery fail in less than a year.

I bought this phone from someone with 2 stock batteries and so far one battery is only lasting about 7-10hours with 1.5-2.5 (might have had 3) screen on time. Does this sound normal? I have seen ppl talk about 15-24 hours and yes I know usage and service plus others come into play. This morning was mainly texting and browsing and it last for 7 hours with 2hr45mins on screen time before dying? I am just wondering since this phone is over a year+ old that the batteries could be going bad possibly or something.
Set-up is lean kernel 1200/350 hotplugx (that shuts down cpu1 when not needed correct?) with sio. Off screen is 350/700 hotplugx. Using stock kernel, haven't updated to lean new version he released yeterday or today I believe.
Currently changed to 920 (950)/350 hotplugx.
I am going to try the other battery for a few days/cycles now but was just wondering in the mean time. I was thinking about buying the 2 X 2200mah Anker batteries since it was only 22$ for both batteries an a wall charger (seemed reasonable) since the OEM 2100ext is 25$ itself. Any comments on how these batteries hold up?

That seems only a little bit lower than normal, so that makes sense considering their age. Some people get that much, even with new batteries! No worries.
That seems normal to me, even if the phone is a year old.

I haven't tried it yet since I'm hopefully getting a new phone soon but I do believe it would help, maybe an extra hour SOT because I know my battery was amazing back 2 years ago and now I get the same times you do if not worse.
After a year on mine I was only getting 1700mah, So now I get a new Anker 2200mah battery every 6 months because they are just as good as original but do last longer.
Theoretically yes! battery life should improve, as you will be having a new battery.
My battery is just over a year old and i get around a 1d12h worth of battery time and roughly 3.5 to 4 hours SOT.
I recently bought a Pisen 2100mah battery off the internet and for the same SOT i got more usage. maybe 1d 20h nearing the 2d use.
n.b; wifi is always on. i use 3G for like 30 mins during a day
from what I've heard, newer generations of batteries, like ones that ship with SGS3, should not be drained to 0% with phone shutting down. it was advised to charge at low percents like 1% to 5% while phone is still on

Of course it would and if you dont have problem with size and weight i recomend you to get samsung's 3000mhA battery. Why not getting a bigger battery
It depends how old the battery is though. All Li-ion batteries degrade over time, even if they aren't used. So if you get a 2 year old battery, that has been sitting on a shelf somewhere, it won't help as much as you'd hoped. Depending on the temperature and charge level it was stored at, it could have lost a lot of its capacity.
So the trick is to get a newly manufactured battery, which isn't so easy since most sellers don't write this information.

Since a bigger battery means the battery is thicker,the original back cover wouldn't fit,then you need to use a specific cover which would make your phone heavier.
Right now I am in this trouble,I got a Onite 4500mAh extended battery with a blue cover,hopefully it's a great product, shipping as listed and battery performs exactly as listed,I just don't like the cover,it made my phone looked heavier.I was wondering maybe I should choose a power bank and put back my OEM one on.

This is true. You also need to account for your usage. If you do a lot of activity that heats your battery up (games, navigation, etc.) Then even a shelf stored battery will help since heat is another Li-ion killer.
My S3 was 2 years old in May of this year. I have been having issues with the battery and charging. My USB charging port has the classic loose connection issue as does the headphone jack. I see the fix and YouTube videos to repair but have not yet done that. I last week got my new OEM Samsung battery and the external charging kit. I just upgraded to Kitkat 4.4.2 NDA8 despite being eligible for a new phone discount from Sprint. My S3 is a 32gb unit and I will not buy a S5 with only 16gb, no way no how.
The new battery is performing very well. It is so close on updating to 4.4.2 that I can not be certain that there were not issues with my rooted 4.1.2 build after so many months. For sure the new battery is lasting longer. I think it was worth the $42.03 spent on the charger and battery as my USB port is in question and I can always swap batteries and charge with the external charger.
My S3 has a new lease on life and I can wait for new tech before upgrading. xda developers forum - root - and the desire for liberty is a powerful combination.
why not try using wireless charging? the qi reciever + charger should not cost you mote than 35 bucks. and you can still use your current battery, battery cover, & nfc, unlike powermat.

A 2 year battery will definitely be worn-out. Depending on the charging cycle count, could be only a 20%,but maybe a 50 or 70%.
I bought a Zerolemon 7000mAh battery few months a go, I'm usually getting 4-5 days on normal usage, and 11-13h of screen on.
