I'm currently running Hashcode's 5/14 build: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128201. As soon as twa_priv updates the SGT7 build: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2222812 so that the microphone+camera works in that ROM, too, can I update to it just by flashing + wiping cache/dalvik or do I need to "Wipe cache, dalvik, data/factory reset and system (full wipe)"?
Too be safe full wipe is fine. You can skip the system.
Since TWA_priv's ROM is based on has code's you can try to only wipe cache/dalvik. If it doesn't work you can still factory reset.

Full Wipe
You should have done a full wipe (Wipe cache, Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Dalvik Cache) and formatted data, cache and system in mount and storage via CWM before restoring the back up restore of ice bean.

Factory reset = Wipe cache + Wipe data
So, basically, you need to do factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, format system and then restore the backup.
Do I need to reflash gapps when updating to the new nightlies? And should I be wiping either of the caches for best results?
Edit: nvm, flashed the new one and wiped dalvik after. Everything working beautifully.

Going from a nightly to a newer nightly of the same version (i.e. a CM10.1 nightly to a newer CM10.1 nightly), you should not need to wipe your system partition, but it never hurts if you are not in a hurry. You may want to wipe cache and Dalvik cache, as it may help to optimize the new versions of apps.
You would need to wipe your system partition when changing ROM (i.e. CM10 to stock) or changing from one version of a ROM to another version of the same ROM (i.e. CM10 to CM10.1).
Wiping cache and Dalvik cache do not uninstall apps -- so no, if you only wipe cache and Dalvik cache, you would not need to reinstall Google Apps.
But wiping system will format your system partition, deleting all system apps and user apps. This means that once you have reflashed a new ROM, if you had formated your system partition, you will need to reflash Gapps also. And reinstall all your other apps.
I want to downgrade my Samsung Galaxy S3 w/ the AOKP (jb-mr2) 4.3.1 ROM installed back to the AOKP (jb-mr1) 4.3 ROM. Is this possible? If so, do I have to do anything different other than wiping my cache, dalvik cache, and data before flashing the AOKP jb-mr1 4.3 using CWRecovery? Thanks!
Nope, just wipe system, cache and dalvik cache, flash ROM and reboot

I think I read somewhere that it's usually ok to just do a wipe cache, dalvik, and system when doing updates or downgrades to an existing ROM on the phone.
You want to do a complete wipe, including the above wipes when changing ROMs (CM to Stock or vice versa) for example.
No matter what though, always do a Nandroid backup or Titanium before you do anything. You never know what can happen with that pesky Android!
Hi,
I'm currently on 4.2 Beta 4, and would like to move on to 4.3 Beta 3. How would I go about doing a clean update (no dirty flash) on PA, so I don't end up with any potential problems? Do I wipe data, factory reset, etc etc, in what order?
Thanks!
Wipe system. Factory reset. Flash ROM. Flash gapps.

So, I'm using a T-Mobil T-989 currently running a really old CM 9.1.0 with the UVLI4 radio. I'm using Clockwork Mod.
I'd REALLY like to upgrade to CM11, but I'm getting hung on the damn radio upgrade.
I've got the UVMC6 update, but I can't seem to get it to install.
I've tried:
Straight install.
Straight install, wipe cache, wipe Davik
Wipe cache, wipe Davik, install.
Wipe cache, wipe Davik, install, wipe cache, wipe Davik
Full wipe/system restore, wipe cache, wipe Davik, install.
Full wipe/system restore, wipe cache, wipe Davik, install, wip cache, wipe Davik
Each time, I get exactly the same result: It sits there at the spinning-circle CM booting screen. I've left it for 5 minutes and it just doesn't get any farther.
What am I missing?
Pretty sure an old cm won't boot with the new radio installed.
Your easiest bet would be to Odin flash stock 4.1.2. That will put you on jelly bean with the new radio. Then install custom recovery (at least twrp 2.6.1.0) and root.
Then install your rom.

So the procedure should be:
Plug in USB.
Reboot into USB-recovery (Holding both volume buttons)
Load Odin3 v3.09
Use Odin to load T-Mobile firmware 4.1.2 using the T989UVMC6_T989TMBMC6_TMB.zip that I got. (I found the how-to for doing that.)
Install TWRP
Use Kies to Root
Use TWRP to install CM11 (using the typical wipe-everything-and-install method)
Am I missing anything?
