Full Wipe
You should have done a full wipe (Wipe cache, Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Dalvik Cache) and formatted data, cache and system in mount and storage via CWM before restoring the back up restore of ice bean.

Factory reset = Wipe cache + Wipe data
So, basically, you need to do factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, format system and then restore the backup.

hi there, only thing you must do is to wipe factory, and wipe cache, dont wipe and format other things there.. if you have a back up of your prevoius stock rom, restore it again to restore all you had been formated, to restore your phone to normal, and install again your jelly bean rom but this time just wipe cache and wipe facetory thats all you need to do. sorry for the english

It's pass the Google screen now in the glowing X screen its been on for like 15 min is that normal?
Its should not take that long after flashing the rom max time it takes is 5 mins for me will be same for all there must be something wrong
CMW Touch usually does not play well with JB.
Try flashing with an older CMW.
Alright thanks for the help restoring back to aopk 40 and going to flash a older cwm then rebooting into cwm wipe factory and cache then JB v3 then rebooting it hope fully it works
Good luck, hope it works out for you.

wipe all zip?

I was wondering if anyone knows of a wipe all flashable zip?
To, like, wipe everything?
If so, what's wrong with the options in recovery?
On my last phone I had a wipe cache and dalvik cache one and a wipe all which is factory data reset, cache, and dalvik cache. It just makes it quicker to flash a rom.

factory reset will wipe /cache and /data
a rom install will wipe dalvik and /system
you dont need a script to run to do all that for you
run factory reset in CWM/TWRP and install rom

What happened to doing a factory reset and then wipe cache and then wipe dalvik cache and then flash rom?

cache wipe is included in the factory reset....watch when you do it, it says
FORMATTING CACHE
just looking at a few of the updater-scripts in some of the roms available right now (it appears some people put it in their script and some dont....love the consistency):
Code:
delete_recursive("/data/dalvik-cache");
delete_recursive("/data/resource-cache");
which is odd considering all the devices I have ever worked on include the dalvik wipe (i have always included a cache wipe as well by default)...it makes for a quicker flash when the user doesnt have to go through 100 steps to install a rom....

[Q] About Dalvik Cache

planning to install cm9.1 on my phone, i rooted my phone and installed cwm 5.0.2.7 i wipe the Wipe data/factory reset and cache sucessfully but i cant wipe dalvik cache, my phone hangs up when i pressed it and goes back to the cmw homescreen..
i installed cwm 5.0.2.6 and had the same result.. what will i do to wipe dalvik cache? is it necessary to wipe it before installing a custom rom?
or should i just follow this install guide from Maclaw
"Flash Cyanogenmod 9:
Download and copy the latest CM9 ROM to SD Card
Reboot to Recovery Mode
Select Install zip from sd card
Select Choose zip from sd card
Select the new CM9 rom package
Select Yes - Install update
Wait till the Installation is finish
Now select Wipe data/factory reset
Confirm
Now reboot to phone.
Wait and enjoy CM9 on your Galaxy Gio "
You don't have to wipe dalvik, its wiped in wipe data/factory reset.

Well, dalvik cache wipe is unnecessary if you wipe data.

[Q] CWM Wipe Data \ Factory Reset wipes everything

So I use to install custom roms all the time with no issues, but on my last two android phones I have to Wipe Data / Factory Reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik Cache and every time it wipes the OS, then I have to re-flash. I have done the following.
- Unlocked Phone
- Rooted Phone
- Flashed CWM Recovery
- Create Backup...Can only use this once I re-flash the phone,
Xperia Ion JB
I miss custom rom's lol, any idea`s...
Resolved!!!
This is how I have to do this and still not sure why, but I'm a rookie so...
- Root Device
- Install Rom Manager (Fix Permissions) - Reboot
- Install Busybox Application (Install with Smart Install)
- Install CWM Recovery
if I don't follow this exactly the wipe data deletes everything and I have to re flash.

Wipe Dalvik cache without root on android 6?

Hi,
is there a way to wipe dalvik cache without root (maybe via adb) ? I always wiped cache+dalvik after flashing a rom or update on my Nexus 4. Is that still neccessary with android 6?
I am using the stock rom without any modifications. I usually install updates with fastboot+factory image.
You can wipe cache in stock recovery
Yeah but you can not wipe dalvik cache in stock recovery. I tried to wipe Dalvik cache with TWRP (via fastboot boot TRWP. img) but I only get the response that wiping failed.
