hi there, only thing you must do is to wipe factory, and wipe cache, dont wipe and format other things there.. if you have a back up of your prevoius stock rom, restore it again to restore all you had been formated, to restore your phone to normal, and install again your jelly bean rom but this time just wipe cache and wipe facetory thats all you need to do. sorry for the english

It's pass the Google screen now in the glowing X screen its been on for like 15 min is that normal?

Its should not take that long after flashing the rom max time it takes is 5 mins for me will be same for all there must be something wrong

CMW Touch usually does not play well with JB.
Try flashing with an older CMW.

Alright thanks for the help restoring back to aopk 40 and going to flash a older cwm then rebooting into cwm wipe factory and cache then JB v3 then rebooting it hope fully it works

Good luck, hope it works out for you.

Thanks

Reboot to CWM.
You'll need to full wipe by going to storage & mount
format the following- data, system, and cache.
next go back to the main cwm screen.
wipe factory/data that is on the main CWM screen and wipe cache partition.
afterwards go to advance then wipe delvik cache.
done!
or search for Darkside Super Wipe tool which can be found in the dev section.(pretty much the same thing but in one button)

Having a huge problem with my phone not wiping.

Okay, I was on AOKP M4 and I wanted to upgrade to M5.
So I backup everything and make a backup of my ROM. I wipe the phone and caches and flash M5 with the GAPPS, with the latest CWM touch recovery. When my phone reboots I notice I have the same wallpaper as before and when I unlock my phone my pin is still requested and all of my apps and settings stayed exactly the same. I was never asked to sign into my Google account and the start up/set up screen never came up. I checked to see if I even updated and yes I was on M5. Now the ROM isn't very fast or smooth and I get a lot of force closes and things not working properly.
I tried the whole process again with the CWM non-touch recovery, and again my phone did not fully wipe and all my apps and setting remained exactly the same.
I tried it again with the TWRP touch recovery, and again my phone did not fully wipe and everything was the same and my phone remains kind of slow and I'm getting a lot of force closes.
Why is my phone not fully wiping? What can I do to fix this?
I would really appreciate some help!
you need to wipe factory / data.
wiping cache and dalvik doesn't wipe "/system/etc etc etc"
1. Wipe Factory
2. Wipe Data
3. Wipe Dalvik
4. Flash ROM
5. Flash Gapps.
6. Flash Kernel
for full wipe.

Yes, that is what I'm doing. I'm wiping factory/data and I'm still having the same problem
Like with the TWRP recovery, I went to wipe, I hit factory reset, then cache, then dalvik cache and then flashed the ROM and GAPPS and all my apps and settings stayed the same. It was like if I had dirty flashed it. I don't understand what's going on.

***FORMAT /SYSTEM*** (under mount in CWM I believe)

5. Flash Gapps.

What does that do exactly? Would I have to worry about my media and sd card being wiped?

Okay thank you, I guess this time in TWRP I'll do factory reset, cache, dalvik cache, and system and see if it works out
Okay, so I did factory reset, cache, dalvik cache, and format system.
I flashed M5 and GAPPS, rebooted and everything was still the same. My phone did not fully wipe.
I don't understand what's going. I'm so frustrated right now

I would do a factory reset, if that doesn`t help flash a stock rom and root your phone again. BTW don`t you have a nandroid backup to revert to

I have a nandroid backup, but that doesn't solve the problem of my phone not wiping.
I guess I'll unroot my phone and lock the bootloader and re-do everything to see. I don't understand why my phone isn't wiping correctly.
sometimes cwm just doesnt work with factory wipe. i've used it a few times now and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. i have no idea why. you can try doing a factory wipe from the phone settings>backup and reset. ive only done that twice but it worked both times. if that still doesnt work just go with a fresh flash of google images using fastboot.

Init.d folders can only be wiped with a factory reset afaik, or manualy off course. By locking and unlocking the phone you perform a factory reset anyway, so i would flash a stock rom and start fresh. No chance on left files or scripts. You can do it with GNex Toolkit, option 8. Put the downloaded and not extracted .tgz file here C:\Galaxy Nexus ToolKit\put_google_factory_image_here and flash.
Thanks guys, I'll try that!

[Q] CWM wipe does not work?

Hi you guys. Im have a bit of trouble whit the CWM. Im stuck in a kind of bootloop after updating to latest CM10. It boots up and i can access my homscreen for like 6-7 sec, but then it reboots to bootscreen.
So i thought i have to wipe my data, get it back to factory state. So i do that, wipes cache to. I have even tried the Mount and storage > format /system /cache and /data.
But when i re-install my rom allmy apps, wallpaper and that, are all where i put them. I can even mange to open some of the apps whitin the 6-7 sec window i have before the phone will reboot. The CWM says it done all things right. No error messages at any time ...
Any one whit an idea to get this back on track ?

are you wiping data(factory reset) or are you just wiping your dalvik and cache?

OK do what simms22 has explained. That should work.
But from what I am interpreting is that you are doing cache not wipe. So you go to "wipe data/factory reset" menu and hit/press yes. It should wipe it and done. BTW it might have been in a boot loop because you might of dirty flashed or you didn't wipe cache and dalvik cache. That is very important to remember. Never dirty flash and also wipe cache and dalvik cache.
Also did you play with tweaks and such before this was happening. Like voltage or over clock because that could be the problem too.
Dalvik cache and cache are hash signed by the last rom that was flashed. New rom, new hash sign. No need to wipe caches, just data.

Cwm is notorious for failed wipes.
Definitely upgrade to twrp, and if your phone is so messed up twrp can't wipe it, use the android revolution wipe script.

If you're backed up and don't mind losing EVERYTHING, yes, EVERYTHING in /data, then boot into fastboot mode and run
Code:
fastboot erase userdata
from your computer. (Might need root privileges if running on Linux)
Hi guys. I got it to work finally. I didt some tweaking whit the DPI. Maybe that was the cause of the crash ??
But i went to use the Galaxy Nexus toolkit, first of all to flash the other recovery program. But since it dint work either i flashed it whit sock rom, from the same toolkit at started all over. That did work, but hell of a way to go

Messaging and Phone apps keep crashing

Hey all,
I've been searching for a while now and decided I should just post my question finally. I have the Galaxy SIII, rooted, and running CM10 stable. For the last 3 months or so, my SMS app, Messaging, has been randomly force closing and crashing. The only way to fix it is by rebooting the phone. I've tried re-flashing the mod 5 times, and even wiped data and done 2 factory resets. Still no luck.
And more recently my "phone" app has been doing it too. It crashes when I open up the dial pad and drops calls randomly and I have to restart my phone for it to work again.
Both of these will happen randomly. Sometimes I can go 4 hours without having to restart my phone, other times I have to restart my phone every 20 minutes. It's really starting to bug me.
Is there an app that's known to cause these crashes? Or is there a possibility that the mod file is corrupt? Thoughts? Questions? Any help is appreciated!!
When you flashed Cm10, did you come from stock or a custom rom? Did you also format /system?
If you made a nandroid while on stock, I would:
Wipe data, cache, dalvik and restore that. Then (assuming you still have Cm10 and gapps zips on your device) I would wipe data and caches again, format /system and flash rom/gapps. Wipe data/cache and reboot.

When I flashed, it was from a previous CM10 ROM that worked fine. I reflashed because one of my apps was getting an "unknown" error, and now this crashing is happening. I don't think I have ever done "format /system". How do I go about that?

To have a completely clean install, you should always:
Wipe data
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik (under advanced)
Format /system (under mounts and storage)
Flash rom
Flash gapps
Wipe data
Reboot
Be sure to have whatever you feel important backed up as this will wipe your system. Make a nandroid first if you don't already have one

There shouldn't be any issues if you have flashed correctly. Many users have also noted that a custom rom performs better when returning to stock and then flashing the new rom via the above procedures. Feel free to pm me your results

I can't see this is a good thing, but I'm a noob.
You're saying after installing the new ROM and apps (Flash rom Flash gapps), you then go back into CWM and select 'wipe data/factory reset'??
Again, I'm a noob and maybe I'm reading this wrong!
Doing a wipe again right after installing a new ROM sounds so wrong to me.
What would that do?

This step (step 7 in your list) isn't necessary.
When in doubt, follow the directions in the OP of the rom you are trying to flash, usually can't go wrong.

Failed FLASHING S4

Hi guys, don't know if this is going on the right forum or whatever but I have a problem!
So last week I rooted and flashed my phone to 4.4.2 Google Play Edition (I'm a noob to all of this) may I add that I have a GT-i9505 model with an unlocked bootloader etc (as I have an international s4)
Phone was working fine except for a few bugs such as camera application would stop working.
So I decided to have to have a look around at another ROM to change and flash it and I found the 4.4.2 Liquidsmooth ROM (which looks pretty good and seems to be everything I need) so I started to reflash it all again (as I did before) however I have 35% battery and my flash failed with the error
'file_getprop: failed to stat "/system/build.pro" error executing updater binary in zip.
So what is it I'm doing wrong? Is it coz I'm flashing on top of another ROM? I have no idea, can someone point me in the right direction? I'm not using an ext SD card for this either!
If you can a noob version would be awesome! Thank you so much for reading this!

Ok you must wipe your old rom first but MAKE A BACK UP, firstly go into recovery (cwm or twrp) and go to "back up" and make a back up. second go to wipe and wipe cache then wipe dalvic cache (if your using cmw you will have to go to advanced on the home screen to wipe dalvic cache)
third go back to wipe and wipe system, after that wipe the cache and dalvic cache just like before
And for the final stage go to install, find the rom you want (will be a zip file) and then flash it, when done wipe cache and dalvic cache one more time then reboot
And bam you should have you new custom rom (you dont have to keep wiping the cache and dalvic cache but its recomended)

the most important thing is read, read and read the instruction before applying any flash.
I always do that and never fail
