I need to clear my location history in Google Maps v6.14.4. In the past you had to uninstall it, the reinstall it. Then they improved it and all you had to do is go into App Manager and Clear Data. Nether works in this version. I also logged into my location history on the Google website and cleared all if it from there. I still can't keep it from popping up as a suggestion when I go to enter a destination. I have also tried several History erasers in the market.
I am stock and not rooted.
Thank You.

when i flash a rom I'm looking to delete bloatware.
I remember reading somewhere that Google Talk is tied to the apps that you download and built in Gmail, so probably not, though I can't confirm this...
I just uninstalled it via titanium backup... No problems with gmail so far.
Edit: for some reason, I wasn't able to restore talk using titanium backup. The restore option wasn't there
It is always running and am wondering if it's draining the battery.
Get autostarts from android store and disable it. But Ive read up about uninstalling it a week ago and it got mixed reactions.
Just turn it off....go in and choose settings...then uncheck auto start...the choose settings and sign out.

I don't think that keeps it from restarting. Everytime you reboot your phone, I believe it starts up google services and gtalk is one of them. That's why if you check running services, it will show it running when your phone is done booting.
I've never removed it because I do use it but when I set gtalk to not auto start it broke autosync in my google apps (gmail, market updates, etc.)
dont get rid of it, it has adverse affects on your market. just go into google talk and turn off auto sign in and then just sign out and never go back in... you need google talk service for the market to function properly.
Mine will not connect, so I want to remove it and all back. Help please
Use titanium backup

Seeing how latitude is part of the maps app, you could try to uninstall updates on the maps app and then update it through the market. You can also just try clearing data on your maps app. That may or may not fix it. I wouldn't try to uninstall maps or related services directly, as they are pretty tied into the phone. You are better off just restoring the whole phone if the other two options I gave don't work (but they should)
I think when I tried to uninstall Latitude, the Maps app went away. So I reinstalled Maps (and Latitude came back as well). I just ignore Latitude.

Personally, my pet peeve with Latitude is that if you accidentally set it as a default launcher, you can't undo that. I've tried going through App Management (clear defaults), tried "ClearDefault" app on the market, nothing works ...
I'm about to try uninstalling it with Titanium and hoping that reinstalling Maps will set everything back to the way it was so I can select the right laucher when I try to view someone's address directly from the People App.
Has anyone else had problems clearing the default data for Latitude/Locations?
Just wondering if anybody can tell me how to clear the most recent searches in Maps. I have wiped data, and cache for Maps. I have deleted my web and search history both from the phone and on the computer. I have also cleared all the local search cache from the accounts menu. If I go to My Places it shows no recent searches.
However when I do a search in Maps it still shows me the last ten things I have searched for. Any ideas would be helpfull.
Edit: If I switch to a different google account in the map settings the latest searches go away. If I switch back to the main account they come right back.
TIA

Ok I know to clear data from an app such as Google maps it should be Settings > Apps > Maps > Clear data but this just doesn't clear my Google maps search history.
It's very annoying I have 6 searched places in my search that I just can't get rid of. I have even re-flashed fresh my ROM being Android Revolution HD and the search history from previous is still there.
Has anyone come across this or know of a solution?
Log in to google maps on your computer with the same account on your phone.
Click on my places and it should come up with a list of where you searched. Click on the little arrow next to the place and then hit delete.
Once your done go into settings and sync your google account on your phone and it will get rid of the places.
Hope it helps

Hi thanks but I logged into my Google maps from the same account from a desktop and none of the places in my Google maps search history were showing. All the same I deleted my history from Google maps from my desktop and synchronized but the history is still showing on my HTC One X.
I now have disabled Google search from my desktop and synchronized again and still the same history is showing on my HTC One X.
Its as if the search history is permanent on my HTC One X.
Would there be any specific file on my HTC One X that I could possibly delete with say root explorer where it could be remembering maps search history from???

It worked for me. I dont use google desktop.
The only other thing i can suggest is that you download history eraser and try to clear it that way.

I just tried with history eraser even that didn't work hmmm.
Something I notice is when logged into Google maps on a desktop in the search bar I can see these searches when clicking on the grey arrow on the right but going into delete history and clearing all doesn't get rid of them maybe this is a Google bug? I have also cleaned my desktop browser's with Ccleaner but these searches are still there in Google maps.
Edit: Just further to say I have tried Chrome in Incognito mode and the searches still appear so this can't be a browser cache or cookies issue. Really not sure how to resolve this....

Sorry im out of ideas. Maybe contact google if they can help.
It was Google - after clearing history from desktop it appears to take time before everything is erased even after syncing from phone.
Now those pesky searches that I couldn't get rid of have magically disappeared
Nice one
Hello,
I have imported this phone from China, and besides the CN bloatware, I cannot get Google Contacts and Google Maps (and Maps Go) work. Contacts does not sync any contacts, and Maps crashes on app start. The phone is fully updated and rebooted.
Originally the China version comes without Google Play and its required subsystem, so I wonder if I can update Google Play manually to hopefully fix all issues .. ? The seller, a big online exporter, installed Google Play before shipping.
Many thanks,
Pummelchen
hi
i'm going to buy this phone i'm from italy. actually i ve mi 10s with their incredible speakers( i'm going to put eu rom for that)
before buy i'm worried some google apps don't work, how can i add languages, whatsapp notification only when wake up? lots of thing
can you help me to decide because of that. some video shows playstore is installable even on joy ui 12.5 that block google services
thanks
The hardware part is incredible, as it's the fastest Android phone as of 2021-04.
The Google Services install app has been removed from the Xiaomi store, which sux.
Some sellers put the Google Play store on the phone to ease customer experience, but it's a buggy experience. For me, Google Maps did not load and Google Contacts does not sync my GMail contacts.
Currently I follow this guideline to install Google Services manually. Its a bit of a "hacking experience" to get this phone working ..
I'm sharing my experience with you as the "Google Map" crashed at launch & GPS doesn't location with me earlier. In the end, I made them both work. I found that the "Gmail account" at Google Map cause the crash at the launch.
To avoid Google Map crash at launch::-
1) Turn off your wireless/mobile data > Access Google map offline
2) Go to setting > Sign-out from your account > close the app > Go to app info & clear data
3) Turn on your wireless/mobile data > re-open Google Maps online.
BK4pro "Network location" apk came without permission privileges, so you must download another one to control GPS location with permission in order to run Google Map/Sygic/Duo ... GPS relevant apps:
1) Install "Network location" v1.0.0.apk by "Google LLC"
2) Give permission as described in the picture attachment. (optional step)
Hope it works for you!!
