Hi
Can someone suggest is there any tv out feature in gnex and if yes where can I find settings for the same in my phone.. Like in galaxy s it is there under display, tv out settings..

Not sure what you mean.. there's two major ways to stream content to a TV. 1 use a mhl adapter and an HDMI cable to connect it to your TV.2 use a dlna app from the market like skifta to stream content to a dlna certified TV. Hope I answered you're question.

Thank you for your support. However I wanted to know that I cannot see any setting on my phone for tv out. Like in the sgs1 there is an option under display settings which needs to be checked pal or ntsc before continuing tv out..

There is no such thing on the galaxy nexus. Using the mhl adapter will not require this at all. All u need is an HDMI cable and the adapter and it will automatically output video and audio to the TV.

Alright Thankyou for the information!

Unless you are referring to a component, composite or s-video only tv. If that's the case I don't think there is an economic option without an hdmi converter. Even then im not sure if it would work. Id be interested if anyone knows of any proven hardware that would work for those non-hdmi tv's.
i really dont wanna spend money on a hdmi cable adapter for the s3 i was wondering if thier was a way to mirror the content on my phone to my macbook pro in order to connect my mac to my tv meaning i could be playing NOVA on my phone while seeing it on the tv is it possible to mirror the s3 to my macbook?
Get nova for you Mac
Better controls

i was wondering if i can connect my galaxy note 10.1 to my samsung Smart hdtv tv via Mhl and use usb otg to connect controllers so i can play games on my hdtv with the controllers
did anyone do that before?
Im pretty sure you can use a usbhub or anything like that, connect the MHL and the controller to the MHL and it should work but Im not sure.

Can you elaborate a bit?
Don't the usb otg adapters / hubs connect to the same port as the hdmi adapter would ? And thus far l haven't been able to find nether a hdmi adapter with an usb otg port, nor a usb hub / adapter with hdmi..
Anyone?

Hm thats right, when connecting the OTG it will only recognize it as USB and when connecting the MHL it will only recognize it as MHL.

No not yet, well don't think so
You'd need a multimedia dock

There is a multimedia dock coming out soon for the s3 that will allow otg and hdmi plug to put your cable into.
There is already one for the note 2 but it doesn't work for the s3 at least that's what the reviews say and also said might work after an update from samsung.

You can always use Bluetooth mouse and keyboard or controller with hdmi. Or you could do allshare cast hub for widi with usb otg devices. It does artifact with more intense games though.

Wow I hope I can get a dock like that for my S3 and/or note 10.1
Thanks for that video.
The note 10.1 is the same internals as the note 2 and s3 so I don't see why one built for the tablet plug wouldn't be possible, I doubt this would work if you tried to connect via usb otg adapter for the 10.1. Hopefully they release one!

Why not use the six access controller app which allows you to tether ps3 controllers wirelessly?
It might also be possible to do similar with xbmc which released in beta today but I've not tested that.

Well what about connecting a usb drive etc. Or use other controllers. For that matter I for one might need to use a wireless mouse... really hope they launch a media dock or something similar.

Any news on this front? Anyone heard anything about a media dock or something similar for the note 10.1 ?
Just a update for this.i got a p1000 galaxy tab media dock.with a but of dremel work it fits o.k this dock has audio out and hdmi out.both work out of the box...good news.now if i dock my tab i get audio out.if i then power the dock hdmi out works also.if i unplug the power and connect a otg adapter i can maintain audio out and otg usb drive access works fine too.i wonder if i could power up the mhl adapter could i have hdmi out...audio out and otg usb working concurrently....as i believe the pins are there in the 30pin connector.i dont have time to dissasemble the dock this week but im going to try soon.any thoughts?

Hey guys.
Just a quick one. I have the official Samsung MHL Adapter and it works on the gnex but I have assumed, and I probably shouldn't, that it would work on other late Samsung android models. Doesn't seem to work on the note 2...
Just wondering if anyone has got it to work and if there's one for one and another for another? Which I'm thinking is the case. Sorry if this isn't part of this particular forum just a random question. It "sort" of related to the Gnex haha.
Thanks in advance.

So, i want to buy the official mhl to hdmi adapter for galaxy s4 which has a product number : ET-H10FAUWEGWW
Will this work with the galaxy s3 that i want to buy? If yes will it work with any tv?(assuming of course it has hdmi port)
It has to be a MHL enabled TV. At least that's what I've read. I actually bought one of those cables and tested it on my HDTV and it wouldn't show anything at all. I tested on both my Sprint Galaxy S3 and my Nexus 7 FHD.

Could u give me the link where u read it?
The Samsung Galaxy S3 uses MHL
The Google Nexus 7 FHD uses SlimPort
These are two different standards and the cable is not interchangeable.

Unfortunately I'm a new user so I have a few more posts before I can post a link in a reply. But if you go to best buys website and search MHL you will find what I have read. I think I included a screenshot in this reply.
Just because it says it on bestbuys website doesn't make it real. The MHL standard is designed to convert to regular HDMI. Any HDMI TV should work fine with it.
No offense to anyone. But I'm going to take the word of Best Buy's website unless, you have proof besides your say so.

If it says it's for any Samsung Galaxy product it's worth a shot. I don't know anything about MHL really. But the cord I have doesn't work and that's what I'm going off of. And the best buy website. Sorry for any confusion or inconvenience.

The other thing to note is are you running a custom rom. I think the mhl drivers are in the touchwiz frameworks.

There is no such thing as a MHL enabled TV. MHL works on anything HDMI ready. The only thing is if you are running a AOSP based rom, it will not work, right now i only works on TouchWiz.
My MHL adapter works flawlessly on my 2010 Aquos.

Actually, there is such a thing, but it's not that important.
An MHL-compatible TV will supply power (5V/500mA in 1.0, 900mA in 2.0. and 2A in 3.0) to the adapter and charge the phone.
A non-MHL-compatible TV won't do that and you'll have to connect your own charger, but it will work fine otherwise.

So if the tv has an hdmi port and i have a power supply, i should have no problem it seems...
If the only difference is the USB ports are more powerful then I don't see how that has anything to do with MHL.
I have successfully tried my MHL cable on many TVs and I've always used it's own power adapter plugged into the wall.
I have heard there are crappy MHL adapters that do not work though.

Correct. an MHL TV just means you don't need to have a charger on hand, have a free outlet, have a long enough micro USB cable to get to that outlet, etc. etc.
