Anyone knows if its possible to add extra dictionaries to the optical reader? I have selected french has an extra language, but it will only detect english words. It will detect the french words in translation mode, but i'd like to have the definitions of the french words. I changed the language of the phone to french, but english is always the primary language selected in optical reader.
Maybe its too early to have a french dictionary?
Oui darned opera and it's stupid gestures I just lost my entire post...
Anyways I'll make this short.
I'de like to add Ukraine to it.
Also I don't like how it's only able to read one word at a time, and it take forever to do that.
But that's not really on topic.

Does anybody know a way to install T9 or the newer version from the Dash on the S620? I really like the word-completion feature of my other smartphones and PPC's.
Thanks!
we'll probably have to wait until someone extracts the extrom of the dash rom
Careful what you wish for
why did you buy the S620 if it is to put T9 on it?
The only benefit of this smartphone is the full qwerty keyboard, it sounds a bit strange to want to restrict yourself to the numeric pad to type your messages?
It's actually the newer xT9, you're not restriced to the numeric keys -- it predicts as you're typing words with the qwerty keyboard. Future versions might be more useful, but I find it more of a hinderance now. There's no way to configure it or edit the dictionary, it kicks in when you don't necessarily want it to and memorizes passwords, as well as showing them while you're entering them. Where ever the dictionary resides, mine is full of typos and passwords. Would be nice if you could uninstall or just shut it off. You can press ALT then SPACE and switch to just letter entry, but at some point it'll come back...

I understand that T9 is directed more towards standard phone keyboards, but I use it on my Hermes all the time. When typing a long email, the word completion can save time.
T9 dictionary edit
I am super annoyed by wrong words being added to the T9 dictionary!
I tried using the msT9Ed.exe, but it seems to not find the correct file.
I did find a file called "eT9Cdb.cdb" in the Windows folder, but don't know if this is the right thing to edit.
Anyone found something lately to edit the T9 dictionary?
newer xT9

I have a german Artemis and I really wonder about the words that are available in the input dictionary. A lot of very common words are missing but a lot of strange and rarely used words are available. Where did Microsoft take these words from? Did they prefer long words as to maximize the time you save by using the dictionary?
The german dictionary contains "anregung" but not "anruf" or "anrufen", "instanz" but not "installation", "sterblichkeit" but not "sterben". Words like "mögen", "möchte" and "Michael" are missing, instead there is "Hügellandschaft".
I know how to add words but I guess there is no way to put a completely alternative dictionary!?
Htc makes only one European ROM at the time. There is four main languages for ex. English, Spanish, French...
In Europe are many other languages. If Htc does not want to make ROM for those languages, it could make T9 dictonary and Windows Virtual Keyboard in any case.
Many people understand English so well, that they do not need entire ROM translated into their language, but they need keyboard and T9 dictonary for writing their mother language.
Now Internet are full of different instruction, how to put T9 in action. Many of those are for the phones, which does not fit to Htc Touch HD.
I hope, that Htc could make language packs for different languages in Europe and serve the customers in this way better.

There are at least 15 languages available for your T9.
HTC serves you pretty well, don't you think?

On www.htc.com/support is only one ROM, and that is WWE. I can not see any other. I found on xda-developers -site one Finnish ROM and downloaded it. There were no Finnish word. Finnish was one of the languages, but I could not see any work with it.
Where are the 15 ROMs?
I had Samsung Omnia for a short time ago, and when Samsung had made Finnish ROM, it was really Finnish. Windows mobile had translated into Finnish. Windows Virtual Keyboard was with ä, å and ö and T9 worked well.
I have had many HTC - phones. Now I have three: Artemis, Iolite and HD.
I am looking forward to have T9 Finnish and Windows Virtual Keyboard with ä, å and ö.
I didn't say there were 15 ROM's availabe, but there are at least that many languages for the T9.
Look for '14 language T9 cab' and you will find an installer to enable extra languages for your T9.

Who has made it? Perhaps not Htc? I have tested that file, but T9 dictionary did not work. T9 remembers only the word, what I have written.

HTC did not make the cab-file, that is true.
But the dictionaries used by T9 are made by Microsoft or HTC.
I had to test several cab-files to before I got Dutch to work.
You'll have to try some more cab-files or search the forum some more.
Good luck.
in "defense" to matti i must say that (dont ask me how, maybe another row of keys?) imho some language-specific characters (eg ä ö for finns/swedes, è à ò ù etc for us italians) should be included in a specific keyboard layout. i dont use t9 as i find more a time waster than anything, but reaching the special characters by longpressing a key waiting x secs sliding to the desired one is just another time waster.

You should install FingerKeyboard then.
It allows you to set the delay before the special characters appears, it supports any layout you want, user-specified text (like smileys and so), ...
Hi,
If you want, i can do a free french translation
I have a question :
why not put an option during the drafting of a thread that allows to choose the language of the ROM? It enabled you can search by language and alleviate the titles
Like my attach image
Bye !
Welcome to forums
English is the official language of the site, but translations can be done as per user needs
Yes, even if the English are the official language, it can still translate the interface into the other but keep the English on the son of discussion, no? Without questioning the official language, it's just for foreigners feel more comfortable ...
I am a Spanish native language speaking, when 1st entered to XDA I used a lot online translators till I got used to write and read in English, it will happen the same to you, so meantime use an online translator
This is not necessarily for me, but a large website like xda can be located in any language, it will kill someone
It has not killed me
I have searched for this on the internet but can't find any useful info.
Since one week I'm proud owner of Note 2. It's a fantastic phone. There is just one rather big problem I'm having with this phone.
I have a stock phone and I would like to use handwriting recognition for different languages. I have added and updated English, Dutch and Croatian. It is possible for me to write with S pen when I select English or Dutch. But when I select Croatian, the handwriting option in the menu disappears and I can only choose to use on-screen keyboard or speak-to-text recognition.
By the way. I need to use handwriting recognition for writing: SMS / Whattsapp / E-mail mainly.
I really need Note 2 to be able to write text in any Ex-Yugoslavian language (Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian), preferably Bosnian or Croatian. Does anyone know if a solution exists for this problem?? It would help me very much to use my phone to it's full extent.
One maybe important piece of information. My phone is an international GT-7100 version.
Tried:
- So you just know when I try to write serbo-croatian, with English or Dutch selected, the phone just tries to change the words to English or Dutch. So this is not a workable solution...
Bump!
I would like to know this too... Writing in english is perfect on this phone. But most of my sms i send in Serbian (or serbo-croatian, whatever you like)..
@OP : pozdrav tebra
I have the same issue with Lithuanian language. However I have checked on other phone with exact same software version and settings and it had the functionality. No idea what Im missing - any help appreciated.
