On Monday while I was reading a book on my SGH-T889 my phone suddenly restarted itself and then gave me a message saying "Encryption Failed."
I looked up that problem and found that the only fix was likely a factory reset. I tried just formatting data, wiping cache and dalvik, and fixing permissions but I did eventually have to do a factory reset to fix my issue.
Since the reset cleared my stored ROM files, I used Odin to go back to the stock rooted 4.1.2 firmware and used Odin again to install TWRP 2.5.
I re-installed Jedi X13 and all was well until last night when I tried to boot into recovery to make a new nandroid backup.
The phone went into a bootloop between TWRP and and Samsung logo, so I pulled the battery and tried to boot again but I kept getting the boot loop with TWRP.
At this point I went into download mode and Odined TWRP to the phone again.
Unfortunately, now the only thing that happens when I try to boot the phone is that I get to a white fuzzy screen. Same thing when I try to boot to recovery. I can boot to download mode, but I cannot flash even the stock firmware as it is telling me it cannot find the .pit file. I have tried adding the .pit file from a SGH-T889V as that is the only one I have been able to find but so far no luck.
Can anyone please help?
Luckily my phone is not showing as running any custom firmware so I can send it back in for replacement, but the lady at T-Mobile let me know that the phones are currently on back order.
If you can't Odin then it is bricked the only option is through T-Mobile replacement, try using the toolkit from the original thread

I have been trying to find an answer for the last several hours. But I can't seem to get anything to work.
I have the AT&T GS3 and I was able to flash AOKP but then I wanted to revert back to stock. I tried the toolkit and followed the steps and what might of happened is that AOKP did not get wiped completely when I flashed the stock image. Now after successfully flashing the stock image (I get the PASS! on Odin), my phone is stuck while booting. It goes past the AT&T boot image but gets stuck on "SAMSUNG". I tries flashing through ODIN, another downloaded version of the stock image but it didn't work. What am I doing wrong?
Another problem with being stuck in bootloop is that since I flashed the stock image; I think I no longer have CWM. I can't find a way to get to recovery.
I'm not really sure how to help but if you can get to the boot animations you aren't bricked. I know you're not on verizon but in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1759642 it says when coming from an AOSP rom back to the stock rom you have to flash a stock boot.img before flashing the stock rom. Hope you can get it working again
Did you make a nandroid backup before you flashed the Rom...if you did you can restore from cwm recovery...hold power, volume up, and home...after the screen goes black let go of the power...hope this helps

If you can get into download mode , just flash recovery from odin.
And how long have you waited at samsung logo , it might take few minutes to bootup.
I don't have CWM recovery. It got stuck on the Samsung logo for 20 minutes before I gave up and did a battery pull.
What do I flash through odin to get it working again. Which recovery file?
Ok, I just used the method described in this article and I am still stuck at the SAMSUNG logo.

Tried that. Still same problem. Noticed that the boot-stock-att-sgh-i7.tar is only 10.5 mb. I don't know much about this, but is that tar file enough to get me unbricked?
usually the .tar file should be much larger than that. It's possible that the file you downloaded got corrupted. Try re downloading the file and than flashing it again.

If you look in the mediafire link inside ths artivle, you will notice that the download is only 10 mb

just re flash stock in odin flash Flash this file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737848
I tried to flash to stock through odin mode and when it's rebooting it shows the Galaxy s3 logo, AT&T logo, and then it reaches the samsung logo and freezes. I'm thinking that the boot image is incorrect but I'm not sure. I tried to use the gs3 toolkit but every option in there requires USB debugging which I can't access since the phone wont boot. Help?
I also cannot find the CWM 5.8.4.7 recovery anywhere I can't restore my nandroid, it says "cannot restore /System" of the nandroid.
The only available CWM i have now is 5.5.X.X.

I kept trying to flash the stock ROM and it finally worked so disregard this thread or delete it please.
For anyone's information this all happened after I flashed the Ultimatum ROM while I was on CM9 nightly.
The ultimatum rom flashed successfully and i rebooted it and then...nothing, it was a black screen.
I still had access to the custom recovery and odin mode but even after restoring a nandroid it wouldn't boot.
I don't know why it did this but my stress is your knowledge.
Thanks!
In the future, just boot into the factory recovery after flashing in Odin and do a factory reset.

I'm having this same problem, stuck at the Samsung logo. This all happened when I was trying to restore to my backup after trying out a JB Rom, but it gave me an error when restoring system. I then tried to flash back to stock using Odin and here I am. Also I am trying to get to recovery but holding the 3 buttons isn't doing anything. Can anyone help me out?
nvm got it all fixed thank god
For anybody who flashes back to stock from ANY non stock rom. You must boot into recovery after the flash is done and clear your cache else you will get stuck at the Samsung logo

I tried it several times and rebooted my computer but it still does not work.

Here is a quick fix... spent my 8 hours, so now I am officially PHD in stuck at boot fix. If solution work, kindly hit the thnx button:
This thread didnt help. However I was able to fix my phone. Since I was not able to boot the phone, I was not able to turn on USB debugging that many softwares inluding the link you have mentioned required. So this is what I did for the benefit of those who may face this in the future:
1. Booted into the download mode vol- + power+ home key
2. When in download mode, I installed clockwork recovrey for ATT Samsung S3 which can be found at many links. I cant paste her as I dont have the rights to post links yet. But the filename was CF-SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.0.tar. The file I downloaded had a .tar.md5 ext, I just deleted the.md5 extension so I was left with CF-SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.0.tar
3. Than I used Odin and selected the above file as PDA and left everything else at default
4. The phone rebooted but again was going to go into the unending samsung logo. So shutdown the phone.
5. Than I did vol+ + home + power key and THANKFULLY booted into recovery
6. Thereone it was simple, that is restore factory defaults, wipe cache, wipe delvik cache etc etc. and boom. I am back in my phone.
Thank god, almost had a mini stroke!!!
P.S. Had lost root upon reboot. Did many things but device would keep loosing root. I went to CWM recovery and selected "fix permissions" bang.. phone back to how I used to like it rooted and booted!
thank you magn2o

omg thank you so much for that. purchased a rooted cynagenmod att s3. was not happy with it. so i flashed it back to stock rom with use of mobil odin. it was stuck on samsung screen while booting up. so i read and researched a bunch of threads. decided to download odin and another tar. samething happened. if i knew it was as easy as a factory reset it would have saved me some time. is there anyway to just post the fix earlier in the thread. or somehow make it come up as the first link when you perform a search? just asking for other people. just in case .thanks again xda. you guys always come through.

Not working for me.
I'm stuck at Samsung Logo.
Tried to do the factory reset in stock recovery that's loaded after ROM install with Odin, no go.
Installed CWM recovery and tried to do reset / wipe cache/ wiped davlik/ no go
Tried to re-download ROM and tried again, no go.
Tried to load TeamWin recovery and do the same thing no go.
Still stuck at Samsung logo -
Waited good 15 20 min and still stuck
I just had the same problem. Flashing Samsung logo...thought that I was screwed. I tried to keep calm throughout the whole thing...(kind of helped) and did this. After Odin failed a few times I decided to restart my computer. After that it had to reinstall the drivers for the phone, ran Odin again, succeeded. Phone booted normally after that. I would suggest keeping the default settings in Odin as it appears (AutoReboot, etc) and do it that way. So:
1) If fails, restart computer.
2)Run Odin with defaults
3)Let the magic work
4) Enjoy your working phone, or start with number one again.
Hope this helps!

I had this exact same situation when I tried to do a restore after i flashed cm 10. It failed on the system folder and the phone was no longer able to connect to computer. I just reflashed the cm10 and it came back to normal boot and would be able to be reverted back to stock threw Odin. If you flashed the stock firmware I'm surprised its not fixed . but I would just somehow flash a new ROM.

try reflashing fresh stock firmware again
if it boot loops then remove ur cell phne battery and keep idle for 10-15 mins
and reboot
I got the same thing when I flashed stock in odin... go into recovery and wipe all data and cache. Worked for me a couple times.

You will need to factory wipe. Odin doesn't wipe out those partitions.
I looked around but could not find my problem - I sincerely apologize if it has been asked elsewhere.
Yesterday I attempted to install the newest root66 (4.3) on my telus GS3 using odin. Everything seemed to go ok, but the phone was sitting at the samsung logo for a long while (and vibrating every 5 or 10 seconds as well). The phone went through the normal boot process after the flash, including updating the apps, but then rebooted and just sat there. Thinking something was wrong I attempted to flash the root again and had the same problem. After that I used odin to flash the stock image and waited all night and day for it and it was still on the samsung logo. Tonight I went into the stock recovery and cleared the cache and attempted to flash the root66 again. The phone seemed to go through the normal upgrade boot again (after odin said pass) with the android upgrade spinning chest thing and all that.
I can still access download mode and the stock recovery, so I don't think I am in too bad of shape - part of me thinks it is just a matter of patience, which is fine if it is, but if not, I'd like to keep working on it. Any ideas?
In summery - in case that was confusing
1) flashed root66 4.3, odin indicated success, boot after upgrade was similar to what I have seen before
2) Waited for a couple hours
3) tried root66 again, and waited
4) flashed stock, odin indicated success and waited many hours
5) cleared cache, flashed root66, currently waiting again
6) maintain access to stock recovery and download mode
I'd like to not lose everything on the phone if possible, but if I have to so be it.
Any thoughts?
odin to stock 4.3 then root your phone using CF Autoroot by Chainfire... check always the model of ur phone and the file you are downloading if it is for your phone..

Reboot into stock recovery and factory reset.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Hi all,
I've looked through several of the existing threads on the Note 8 and I've not gotten anywhere yet. I had the device happily rooted and working for months and then, stupid me, I used ROM manager to flash a new ROM this morning and on boot, it's stuck on the logo.
I CAN get to the recovery menu, but reset to factory default does nothing. I have wiped the cache from recovery and then tried to factory reset again; still stuck on logo at boot.
I can also get to download mode and have tried using KIES 2.6 (since KIES 3 is for Android 4.4.2 and up) and every time I try to do the update firmware/recovery, it starts, stops and says 'there is a problem with the download file' and then it quits.
I have tried using ODIN 3.7 and a few different recovery files but although it will say 'passed', on reboot, it's stuck on the logo.
Can someone help me, please? This is the only tablet I own and I really need it to not be a door stop
:crying:
not bricked yet, maybe. for now, try to download latest firmware from sammobile.com for n5110 and use odin to flash it.
about the factory reset of course it would still boot loop, you are trying to factory reset a bootlooped rom so it doesnt matter. you should flash a new zip through recovery.

Hi Mr.201,
Thank you for the suggestion. Question, when you say download the latest firmware, will it matter if I don't use the original? I ask because I've been trying to find the original firmware (stock) and while I've found many sites with GT-N5110 FW's, they are all coded for other countries; I can't seem to find one for US. So, if I use a newer firmware, will that work?
I can still get to recovery mode and download mode. I don't know if USB debugging is on, though, which I hope won't matter at this point. I can't remember if it was on when it died on me.
I appreciate your advice! Hopefully, I can get this thing going again. That would certainly make me a happy camper!
For some reason, the US version is labelled as "Cellular South" but in general, any 5110 rom will work, although there are some quirks with wifi frequencies between the North American and European roms.
My Note 8 got stuck in a boot loop. It was rooted/custom recovery/custom ROM. I tried some of things you did, and nothing worked. I ended up downloading and installing the ODIN one click recovery/un-rooted stock image from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2773712
This restores everything to stock (including the recovery). After flashing, it was still stuck in the boot loop. I booted into the factory recovery, and did a data wipe. After doing that, my note is working now. So ... doing this might be worth a try.
May I make a suggestion when flashing firmware... If you are flashing to something notreviously installed on the device. First flash with philz recovery and perform a full wipe for flashing new ROM. This way everything is clean for your flash to work properly.
A factory reset is not going to work as well for the new flash to take.
