I don't know if you are being sarcastic, but if you do flash nexus 4 rom on your phone you will most likely kill it. Be warned.

what is sarcastic? I just asked cos i purchased nexus 4 for my GF and i want it now instead of this optimus
And why would you want that?. The g IS an improved n4.more storage, better camera.same quality materials.we have 4.2.2 for it,so it is better than n4.

wouldnt say that!
firstly nexus - internet is so much faster secondly cammera is DEFO NOT any better .. on G there is fog the pictures ate much better on nexus i compared! better layout android enviroment
Don't know about your g,but mine is way better than the n4.i have a friend who bought it before i got the g.now he wants to sell the nexus and get the g.to be honest,e975 is one of the few phones that can be used out of the box without flashing custom roms.true, root is needed, but stock firmware is amongst the smoothiest i've seen on android.and i've seen and tested alot.
If you compare 4.2 on n4 and 4.2 on g,of course n4 has advantage.but 4.2 on g is only at it's begining.in time it will be much better.

camera is foggy dont know why i had all kimds of kdzs
the lens sticking out and i cant put phone flush with table
i have g from korea and lte/ 4g is obsolete cos it wont work in uk..
i had to flash kdz cos it was all korean ..
thing is g doesnt support DC-HSDPA if u know what am talking bout..
i tested speeds and on mine speed lags..
i have checked service and on nexus says HSDPA 10 and on g HSDPA 8
and when u have DC - HSDPA u defo dont need LTE or expensive 4G..
Tested the e975 here in romania, with first phase 4g(75mbps). starting from january next year,we'll have 100mbs LTE.The results were impressive for me, had 54mbs on dl and 22 on ul.Average HSDPA is about 24mbps dl and 10-15mbps ul.
i can tell you for sure we can't have these speeds on 3G+ without the DC-HSDPA .Normal modem for 3G is max 21.6mbps.It has reach the phisical limit, but with this litle trick, dual carrier, they managed to stall a litle longer until 4G is available..Same happend with the Acer S500(dual core krait 1.5ghz) that came in Romania. We don't have wide 4g coverage and they chose to use DC in order to benefit HSDPA speeds. My guess is the variants of G are somehow different regarding the modems.LG made a great job, adapting this model for all markets.
Not to mention the nexus4 DON'T have 4g.
Here it is

they have DC .

I have questions because I might get this phone. Is this the most active forum for this phone?
-do you guys see a lot more development coming?
-is this the forum for the ATT version of this phone?
-how long will it be before anyone actually starts working with this phone? I'm scared to leave my current phone. For a dead one.
-does this take a micro SIM and does it have a SD card slot?
Please answer these questions with the best of your ability. I know I can't ask about development but I wanna know what you guys know before I get a dead cell phone. I understand it's new and will take time. But I wanna know what's going on behind the scenes.

I don't have this phone ... I have LG Optimus 4X .
As you know , Optimus 4X is exactly the same as your phone (one x) . But we don't have any developments .
In a general view , LG Phones don't have a high developers (frankly speaking , don't have any developers) .
LG phones is very cheap with a high performance & excellent hardware , stylish . But I don't know why it's dead in development .
If you want to change from one x to optimus G and want some development, I don't think you will get that .
You can get Root , Unlock BL , Recovery ... but after that you won't get that much of ROMs or Kernels .
I always check one x forum and there are millions ROMs & Kernels . While we aren't even if we have the same RAM , GPU & CPU .
But I'm not sure of Optimus G .
I hope this helped .

Why?optimus g> hox anytime.
The phone is great.we already have cm 10.1,but this phone is flawless on stock too.
It's true, there aren't many devs, but those working here are great.to be honest, not the devs is the problem, but the users.we are not many.i bet all my money if this phone would've been made by sammy or htc, this section would've been different, with much users and devs.but it's not the case.
Regarding your criteria for choosing this phone, wow,i'm surprised,i mean,if nokia 3310 has more devs ,youl'd choose that?.
Like i said ,lgog beats hox by a mile.

I agree with the previous posts. Probably not much development for this because LG makes a good phone.
If google picked them this year to make their Nexus phone, then they got to be doing something right.

Nah, it's pretty quiet hear. A nice getaway from the usual hustle-bustle of XDA traffic. Well, Samsung, HTC, and even Sony, they all have a good amount of developers. The XPERIA Z was released after the Optimus G, yet it's got much more developers than the former. I guess LG phones, even though this is a really good device, don't sell that well, and this puts off developers from developing. So, if it's development that you want, I'd advise you to move to another option or even brand.
You already have the 3 main developpement: CM, AOSP, AOKP.
Comming from HTC, I can understand the need for "more roms", since the OEM does totally blows. But honnestly, LG roms aren't half as bad as HTC!

For the Canadian variant, maybe, but development's seriously lacking for the international E975. We just have CM, but that's a little buggy at present.
Well, chad's version has the call bug and the 8mpx camera, but official cm,with kernel based on lg source,is bugfree.
I tried them both.now i'm looking for a dual boot system,so i can run both official and chad's version untill they decide to merge the projects.if this happens,it will be the best decision.

It's a nightly, not the final, polished version. So, it's surely got to have some bugs. By the way, is GAPPS included, because 180 MB seems a little too small for a ROM? And is there a risk of the EFS partition being erased? How do you work around it if there is?
gapps are never included in CM since version 9
you have to flash it manually

I had the exactly same question before buying OG.
In my case, the painful experience with my Optimus 2X made me circumspect about another LG phone. I look up for Nexus 4 and I found that it has many problems... so I asked myself the question what is the closest best phone to Nexus 4?
It turns out it was OG. Hardware is identical but OG is faster, better built, has an powerful stock ROM, better camera and radio.
This two phones are so identical that can share 99.9% of N4 kernel. So I guess future android versions will be ported to OG with close to none problems.
E975 is recently launched so development is in its infancy but as you can see, we already have official CM support!
My bet is on OG.

i read an article that LG is gonna come out with a new device called LG - Gx wich has the exact same specs as the LG g pro with a little less PPI (401ppi) but with the new jelly bean OS ,
this is more than enough for anyone who has respect for his money to say no in the future to any LG cellular device,
money hungry company who gives a crap and puts even more crap on their costumers over time.

I'm just hoping it has dev support and we can somehow rip the ROM and run it on the G Pro seeing that most of the hardware is the same.
well it look like I was not right......it seem that lg have made the same phone then the g pro....
http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_gx_goes_official_in_korea_with_55_screen_and_snapdragon_600-news-7375.php
to be honest I don't understand much why the lg x have the same spec then the g pro?? the positive point is that we gonna problably be able to port his newest rom in our g pro.. otherwise it not gonna be in the category of "flagship" especialy in 2014...
Hopefully LG will update the G Pro alongside it when it releases, although it is weird that lg is releasing the same phone with just newer software...

They're saving a fortune on software updates since they never update anything. Probably cheaper to just release another device and hope the public buys it. After all, we bought the OG Pro, didn't we and knew full well that no updates would be released.
We can only hope to port its stock rom onto our phone.
Just read that moto G is already receiving the 4.4 update. And v r still on 4.1.2 :banghead:

I just want my G Pro to have the same vanilla stock kit Kat nexus rom like my n7 and n4 have. This stock LG rom sucks up too much memory.

The LGOGP has 2GB RAM, it's more than enough for running it lag free (mine running very smooth). With Android 4.3< things will be even better thanks to the new Trim function. From my experience 98% of the time the best rom for any device is based on its official release.
LG making a mistake in the long run not updating their devices.
hi. im a hardcore samsung fan but now im kinda bored of it. just sold my galaxy S4 yesterday. now i wanted to jump to LG and see if its good or not.
i have heard a lot good about this phone. im kinda power user (if thats a thing ) cause i like to try new roms and tweak a lot with my phone. every body knows samsung gets the most love from developers because of so many users and there are tens of roms to choose from for sammy phones.
its my first time with LG phone so, im confused like HELL! cause i see there are like 5 versions of Optimus G pro.
my question here is which version should i buy which has easy Rooting and the most number of roms?
as i have already said i dont use the phone much for other things like TV (i guess there is TV antenna in the korean model) i just keep changing and trying out new roms. so which version should i get which had the most love of devs here? should i get the E980, E986 or E988
and how to check the EXACT MODEL NO while buying?
thanks

I think it depend on where you live. Which version is available in your country. Here in Indonesia, only the E988 version is available. Since myself is a new LG OGP user, i don't know much about custom ROM yet.

Man if I were in your place I wouldn't have sold the s4 ull be underwhelmed by the contrast of this screen like I was when I switched to this phone and also the contrast of the camera but it has much better build quality than s4
Its a really good phone no doubt but the s4 is just better including the developer support if I were you I would get the new HTC one or wait until the s5 comes out but if that's not in your budget. The g2 is a lot better than this and not much more expensive either I would recommend that it also has a much better camera another option is the note 3 but that is also quite expensive
But if your set on getting this phone I won't stop you cause I literally can't
You can confirm the version by going to the settings > about phone> phone identity
You can also confirm it by taking off the back cover and battery u will find the imei number and version of this phone

I'm gonna gift this one to my brother in New Zealand.. I'm not sure if I'll come back to LG again.. but being my first LG phone, it was a great overall (Except battery) experience.. Because our Cyanogenmod maintainer has not updated our phone's kernel (probably missing) and we don't have info on what google_msm kernel/CAF kernel repos or anything we need to update to MM..

I don't want to float anyone's boat, but E975 is much widely used... and is basically Nexus 4, so they use everything from there. S4 and M7 are much much more popular than this damn device, so yeah... that's pretty much why
I'm working on 6.0 bringup, but I have issues - not only from software side, but from hardware side too: my battery is slowly dying (and I can't find proper replacement), and looks like my usb board (or connector, let's hope its connector) died this morning, I can't do anything but charge it with all four cables I have and thats it... no serial connection means no data transfer, no adb access, no logs. It basically renders phone useless for any work.
I'm kind of sick of this phone, so I'm not sure I'll even keep this phone anymore... so my efforts towards M bringup are halted for undetermined period.

This phone is at the end of it's development life. We had a good run while it lasted. I ordered a Nexus 6 this week and will be moving on shortly. I'm keeping the E980 as a backup so I'll still try to tinker around with it but for daily use it is time to move on.

Why? I bought my G Pro last year for 240 euro brand new . Its in perfectly good condition, I don't see any reason to replace it . Screen is still fantastic, it has good enough performance, battery life is good - I menage to use it for 2-2,5 day.

While that is great you enjoy your device, the only reason we have custom ROMs on this device in first place is basically a complete hack, and also we have gotten no support from LG at all. All of this combined makes for a very unsatisfactory reputation for this device and hence why development is no longer very active and I do not expect it to pick up activity any time soon or ever (I could bbe be mistaken but this is just my opinion).
Yes, so sad for gpro
So, do you think the same level of support as the G Pro (i.e. minimal to non existent) can be expected on the V10?

Maybe not even that, because OEMs are getting really good about locking bootloaders and such nowadays.
Well as an owner of an E986 for about 2years 9 months and using it a lot of time every day I can confirm that this device is a beast, good performance, good battery,quality... and its like I bought it yesterday! Its so sad seeing G Pro slowly dying... I really hope it will be lucky with cm13
There might be a vietnamese marshmallow/6.0 project. @duongthinh441 mentioned it.
